A blurry view behind a Turntable, the disc of the Vinyl is slowly and softly rotating. The stylus moves up before slowly moving down as the turntable hits the disc surface causing it to emit a small fuzzy pop before the soft crackle of the vinyl recording is heard. The surface is clean, smooth and shiny. A voice suddenly begins.
"I know how I'm gonna die" The voice is clear and noticeable, it is of a Mare, Octavia.
"I know exactly when, and how it's going to happen"
"And I'm more then happy to share" The crackle pops slightly.
"I'm going to be in my early 60s, um.. I would of been retired for 3 years, living in the house that my folks left me after they passed"
"Uh- one night I'll be getting ready for bed, with my wife and- I'll complain about a headache. That I ultimately will do nothing about. We both will go to bed and I'll have an Aneurysm, and I'll go quietly in my sleep. And thats it"
"The idea of knowing how you will pass might scare some ponies but, not me. Knowing makes me feel safe, and at peace"
"I can't wait" The vinyl pops heavily and it crackles before making a swift harsh scrap of the turntable moving.
The sound of the recording stops for a second as it crackles a little louder before resuming. The surface is dusted slightly, like sprinkles on a cake, the Turntable also has parts of it in dust. But no much, just a little amount of it, like a small layer of dust, some of the dust softly blows from the surface. Flying into the air before it slowly floats on the air, shimmering like glitter illuminated in the pitch black dark. Her voice begins again, sounding deeper, older and grown. Just by a larger thickness in the vocal cord.
"It's been a few years, uh.. I just met the mare that will later become my wife, so thats exciting" The recording pops slightly more, but the crackle is at an even soundscape yet its just a little louder.
"She's perfect for me, I love her with everything in me and she doesn't even realize it fully yet. Knowing how I will die has given me a premature love for her that it’ll take a while for her to feel back. I am so excited for our life together" The fuzzy noise pops and crackles but slowly down and dissolves like water softly before resuming to the calm crackling noise.
"A week from now uh- we will go on our first date together. Funny enough we cut the day short because I get a massive headache from the loud music in the restaurant that we will go to. I just love how ironic that is" Her small huff of a laugh is heard before she continues to speak.
"I'm glad that she will be the last pony that I'll be with" The recording pops loudly at those words before crackling. The sound of recording stops for a couple seconds before resuming again. The surface is coated in the dust, the turntable an equal amount of dust. Small yet barely visible scratches are around the sides of needle and up to stylus. The recording also sounds much more fuzzier and very slightly distorted. Octavia speaks again, her voice just a little more deeper.
"Things have been going as there suppose to but- you know I'm not surprised. My father just passed earlier this month and, even though it was very sad. I know I will be joining my folks in just a few decades, so..."
"They left me and my wife the house, we're both ready for this next chapter in our lives to start, you know for better or for worse" The vinyl pops heavily and crackles with distortion before the sound returns to normal within a couple seconds.
"I'm still so far away from my Death and, I'm looking to spend every minute of it well. We're actually picking up the furniture uh- tomorrow, for the new house. It will be strange to pick out the bed that I know that I will be dying in but you know what, I don't mind"
"I know it will be comfortable, and as painless that it could possibly be, so..." The vinyl crackles and pops as the recording stops then resumes again. Dust has grown but not by much, the needle is the only thing that is almost fully coated with it. Octavia speaks again, much older.
"We're still 20 years away from my death, everything is exactly as I was told it would happen. My music career is going well, and.. Even tho retirement is so far away I don't mind it to much. I love my Job, I love my wife and- I'm still pretty young"
"I still feel at peace of how things will end, you know.. Theres something very calming to me, about the idea of how I will die. Without a sound- At a time in life where I feel like I served like, kinda like a personal purpose. Dying happy, and with somepony that is near by. My Vinyl, and in my sleep"
"You know.. I've gone over it, just so many times- AHHHH! NO! AHHHHHH!" she screams in agony ocumapying the loud crackling and popping of the now harsh recording. "NOOOOO.. OHHHH.. AHHHHHHH.. NO! AHHHHHHHHH! OHH! NOOOO! AHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" She screams before going silent. The vinyl harsh with the static and distorted noise. The vinyl repeats a pop multiple times. The surface is covered in dust, some of it laying just around the floor of which it is sitting on. The needle and stylus is worn out and dirty. The turntable not any better. Scratches all over the surface of the disc as it crackles with the sound before it slowly comes to a stop. The spinning and rotation slows down and stops. The turntable falls still.
