Despite how dark the skies had gotten outside, there was more than enough candlelight from the chandeliers above to illuminate all the crystal walls with a soothing glow. It was fortunate that the stallion was all by himself on his walk, since his eyes were transfixed on the large parchment he had hovering in front of his face with his magic.

His eyes may have been narrowed in focus, but he also carried the faintest smirk as he read through the notes given to him by Prince Shining Armor. His natural fur may have been a soft shade of gray, which helped to make his face appear more feminine to match his luscious mane; however, since his mane matched the same shade of baby blue as the feathers of his wings, the Alicorn appeared almost a pale purple from first glance. Even the dark tuft of his chin didn’t detract much from his appearance, since it matched the same scruff he carried across his bushy fetlocks.
Usually in circumstances like this, especially in a foreign nation with as many internal and international disputes as Equestria, the Alicorn would’ve had his personal Guards on standby to escort him down the hallowed halls. However, due to the recent developments which left the Crystal Empire in a powder-keg of conflict and panic, the last thing the stallion needed was for anypony to know where he was headed. Despite how dangerous it was for him to venture by himself down the underground floors of the castle, he had a feeling that the pandemonium upstairs wasn’t exactly better. Heck, it wasn’t until he reached the ancient cellars of the Crystal Castle that he was no longer able to overhear the sounds of Crystal Ponies protesting outside.
“Well, I hope this ends up working…” Despite his optimistic tone of voice, the stallion exhaled sharply through his nostrils while his muzzle was uncomfortably skewed. He paused briefly enough to look behind him, but he quickly sighed in relief upon hearing only silence in the distance. Considering how stressful things were getting above ground for the Crystal Empire’s rulers, he could only hope that they’ll be alright while he worked on his own. He also took that moment to glance back at his satchel, which was hanging by his side and weighed down by the… unique items which were stashed inside.
“Ughhh…” Instead of opening the flap to further inspect the peculiar selection provided for him, he merely closed his eyes before resuming his trek down the remainder of the hallway. “This better not be one of his little ‘pranks’...”
The Alicorn may have been wary at best, but his trotting steps continued as he held his head up high. He eventually walked away from those glowing chandeliers, and was met with a more primal source of light as the crystal architecture changed to stone bricks further down. He carefully stepped down a long flight of stairs, while flickering torch lights hung just over his head to illuminate the deeper levels. The elegance of the Crystal Castle soon disappeared from sight, and the stallion found himself venturing into the rarely-visited dungeons left behind by the Empire’s previous ruler…
Fortunately for the Alicorn, the rows of garish cages and cells were cleaned out to the best of the castle staff’s abilities long ago, leaving only the remnants of a bygone era that nopony wanted to revisit. He walked past the rows of iron bars and abandoned chains, all of which were garishly lit by the torch lights that made every shadow move and flicker ominously. He eventually found his way at the very end of the dungeon space, where a massive wall stood with an iron-wrought door in the middle. There was no barred window to peer inside, which made the entrance feel far more sinister and foreboding than the Alicorn would’ve preferred. Nevertheless, he only needed to take a deep breath before unlocking the door with a loud metallic click.
However, much to the stallion’s surprise, his eyes widened the instant he opened the door to a well-lit “dungeon” fit for former Royalty. “O-Oh! Ummmm…”
Even though the dungeons beneath the Crystal Castle weren’t exactly easy to renovate, the solitary cell looked like it was given a full makeover by Rarity herself. The walls may have been the same garish gray stones all around, but they were decorated with several regal paintings and tapestries to give life to the room. An ornate string of lanterns were hanging off the ceiling, each one a different color to help illuminate the space more beautifully. Due to the circumstances of the cell’s prisoner, the only furniture allowed inside were a single chair, a desk for writing, and a large bed that took up over half the room; but at the same time, the plush bedding was covered with several thick, fuzzy comforters guaranteed to provide a truly comfortable rest.
Of course, despite how taken aback the Alicorn may have been about the room’s surprising accommodations, his blue eyes focused on the stallion laying on the mattress with a book in his hooves.
“Oh, hello there…” The thick novel was quickly closed by the pair of charcoal fetlocked hooves hiding the cover. As soon as it was placed away, the visitor was able to see the former Tyrant Sombra in all his post-captured glory. Aside from the thick brass ring clasped over the base of his curved horn, the fanged unicorn looked exactly the same as the detailed illustrations in historical texts. His luscious black mane hung down past his shoulders, but didn’t detract from his masculine appearance at all. For a split-second, the Alicorn expected to see an intimidating stare or miffed sneer from Sombra while held in custody. Instead, all he was met with was a pleasantly surprised smile from the prisoner in question. “So… I’m assuming that you’re the ‘specialist’ that Princess Cadance mentioned the other day?”
The Alicorn’s brows rose up even more, mostly from the fact that a former villain like Sombra referred to Cadance by her official Royal title. Even Discord had problems with that sometimes, although that was more because he preferred pet-names for ponies he “befriended”. Nevertheless, the pony only needed a second before nodding his head. “Why, yes I am,” he said with a warm and courteous smile. “My name is Prince Plushy Soft. I’m an Equestrian Ambassador currently serving in Mount Aris.”
“Ah! I heard about the progress in that nation. Congratulations.” Sombra’s kind tone of voice, despite matching the natural smile across his fanged maw, was quite a thing for the Prince to see without growing suspicious. Nevertheless, the Alicorn didn’t hesitate to enter the cell and close the door behind him. Since he had a magically enchanted key in his possession only he could use, he wasn’t too worried about locking the door behind him so Sombra couldn’t escape. Although, it seemed that such a measure may have not been totally necessary as Sombra remained lying comfortably in his bed. He grunted a little as he pulled himself up, but was still sitting as he faced Plushy directly. “So, Prince, uhhhh… Plushy Soft, is it? I take it this is your first time in the Crystal Empire?”
“Well, the first time on official business,” he admitted with a light shrug. “Aside from the Equestria Games and Flurry Heart’s coronation, I’ve been busy with my own endeavors.”
“Well, hopefully this trip will be worth both our time~” As he gave that response, Sombra’s smile showed the faintest veil of intrigue as the corners of his lips formed a more obvious smirk. Prince Plushy Soft may have noticed that expression in an instant, but he didn’t show any concern or offense through his own smile. In fact, he tilted his head while narrowing his eyes on Sombra curiously.
“So, before anything can begin…” Plushy walked up towards the bed, and pressed a hoof down on the mattress to feel how soft the bedding really was. He nodded in approval, before glancing back at the stallion to ask, “How much has Princess Cadance told you about me?”
“Well, let’s see…” Sombra sat up a little straighter, and glanced down at Plushy’s body to see his cutie mark. Across the Prince’s flanks, a heart in a gentle blue shade was surrounded by fluffy white clouds. Upon closer inspection, Sombra was able to see that the actual heart was split down the middle by texture; one half of the heart was silky smooth against his fur, while the other half was obviously fuzzy like his fetlocks. He may have not been too familiar with the Prince or his abilities, but his cutie mark certainly helped Sombra give a proper response. “Hmmm… If I recall correctly, she mentioned something about you being a recent apprentice of Discord. Is that right?”
“Indeed you are,” he replied with a smile, and a faint blush that appeared on his cheeks as he shrugged. “I, uhhh… I was recommended to show up in his place due to your past history with him…”
Sombra’s smile diminished greatly, but he didn’t seem that upset as he rolled his eyes. “Ahh, I see…” After exhaling through his nostrils, he made sure to add sympathetically, “Although in his defense, I didn’t realize he was Discord until after all that Grogar stuff was revealed. If anything, I should’ve realized something was up from the beginning.”
Plushy Soft tried not to giggle while averting his eyes from Sombra briefly. “You know, it says quite a lot that you’ve become so complacent nowadays.”
“Well, you can thank this…” Sombra’s muzzle skewed a little in discomfort as he pointed up at his horn. “Princess Twilight Sparkle had this built herself, if you can believe that. It’s probably the only thing keeping my dark magic from resurfacing throughout the rest of my body.”
“Aaahhhh, I see…” After Sombra nodded in permission, Prince Plushy leaned forward on the bed with both hooves to inspect that brass ring closer. “Thank you…” Sombra leaned back after Plushy pulled away, and he shuffled a little on the bed with his bottom lip bitten. The Prince could tell that Sombra was likely apprehensive at best, despite how cooperative he was acting. On one hoof, Plushy couldn’t blame him for looking so worried; after all, the procedure he was planning for Sombra was one of the most unconventional methods he could try. But on the other hoof, it was likely one of the best means to help reform Sombra completely without using any magic, which could easily conflict with Sombra’s horn if he wasn’t careful.
Regardless, Sombra eventually turned his sights down to the satchel hanging from the Prince’s side. “But to answer your earlier question, I… can’t say I’m too familiar with what you were wanting to do for me.”
Prince Plushy Soft nodded with a smile, and pulled off his bag with a hoof to place on the floor. “That’s perfectly fine,” he said without any offense. “Just as long as you’re open to trying something so, errr… intimate… if you know what I mean.”

I can’t imagine how difficult things may have been back then for you, but nowadays most ponies are perfectly fine with differing orientations. Sombra closed his eyes to sigh softly, before looking back at the Prince with a thankful smile. “Well, mmm… thank you for that.” He nodded graciously while trying not to appear too embarrassed. “And yes, I know it’s silly to worry about those things in this time period. I’m just grateful that Cadance didn’t try making any jokes when I admitted it to her.”
“Well, considering how she’s Pansexual, I’d be shocked if she did.” Prince Plushy Soft chuckled under his breath and added with a shrug, “Actually, that’s the one thing she and Discord have in common.”
Sombra had his eyes narrowed on him briefly, and he blinked a couple times while processing that detail. “Huh… I suppose that shouldn’t be too surprising.”
“Don’t worry, there’s no judgment here…” Plushy Soft took that moment to crawl onto the foot of the bed, sitting across from Sombra with a couple feet between them. He placed his satchel beside him atop the mattress, which kept most of Sombra’s attention due to how heavy it looked. Sombra also saw that the other end of the belt had an attachment similar to a seatbelt, indicating that the keyhole was meant to lock it in place when closed.
“Well, this is a little ‘courtesy gift’ from Discord~” From the way his smirk widened to match his blush, it seemed that Prince Plushy Soft was more than familiar with the belt himself. But since he was the one in charge this time, he had to keep himself from growing too giddy while grinning at Sombra. “Apparently, when you’re a chaotic being that can travel into other universes, you tend to find some rather unique tools for personal use. That particular belt was one he found from an underwater world, and was used to reform a villain known as ‘Man-Ray.’”
“Man-Ray?” Sombra narrowed his eyes up at him confusedly. “I… I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of him.”
Plushy Soft shrugged and pointed out, “Well, he’s from a different universe centered around a sentient sponge who lives in a pineapple. Trust me, there’s a reason why Discord ventures into other worlds by himself.”
Sombra had his muzzle open for a moment, but he decided not to ask any questions. Not to mention, his focus was quickly brought back down to that belt between himself and the Prince. Plushy Soft picked up the belt with a hoof, while grinning eagerly back at the Ex-King with a perk of his brows. “But if it helps ease any worries, I can safely say that this won’t be a painful experience by any means~”
Sombra’s muzzle tightened briefly, before he exhaled through his nostrils and nodded in understanding. He may have been wary at best, but the Prince’s excitement was more than enough to assure him that it wasn’t something untested. The Prince leaned forward with the belt opened up, which caused Sombra to clench his eyes and sit upright in wait. However, Plushy made sure to pause briefly enough to ask, “Now, before I put this on you, do I have your consent to undergo this process?”
Sombra sighed and nodded with an impatient grimace. “Ugh… Alright, fine! I… I consent…”
