Unable to shake off the sneaking suspicion that he’d just made a dire mistake, he held her close and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He was tired, the mattress was probably going to end up stained, and he doubted he’d get much sleep before getting up at the crack of dawn to get her a blasted scone, but at least he’d had a bit of fun and, if she held true to her word, he’d have some stress relief for the next few days.
