Following the wedding of Fluttershy and Big Mac, Rarity finally moves up to Appleloosa with her fiance Braeburn. However, upon adapting to married life in this small rural community, she learns that she isn't the only one of the mane six to have become estranged from their old lives and swept into precarious new circumstances on a common wave of socio-political unrest. In the midst of it all, love is tested, warped, and for Rarity and Applejack, reborn in the form of a profound new friendship against the frivolous backdrop of the rural aristocracy. Can it survive the sinister fate of Equestria? For their friends, in any case, it might be too late.

Written mainly in the form of letters between the main characters over the course of a year.
