Shines the Sun

Harmonic returned the following Monday. This time, Atmospheric was with him. She was even more graceful in-person.

"Hello, Cadance."

"Is it true? Do you know my husband?"

"We've met in passing. I learned a lot about you listening in on his conversations."

"So he's really...?"

"Yes. He's joined us as an immortal soul, much like yourself here in the physical plane."

Cadance fell back in her chair. The couple rushed to her aid.

"Are you all right?" Atmospheric asked.

"Sorry," Cadance responded, "I just...Need a minute..."

"I understand. Honey, would you get her a cup of water?"

"Sure thing, hon." Harmonic obliged, leaving the pair to speak alone in private.

After taking a moment to regain her composure, Cadance requested to know more about her husband's condition.

"How is he?"

"Just as you remember him. Upon entering my father's domain, he regained the youth once eroded by the sands of time."

"From what you said before, he retained his memory of this world as well."

"The bonds we make in life transcend the boundaries of space and time. I would argue his feelings for you have only grown stronger since his transition."

"Really?"

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder and all that."

"I assume we would be together if it wasn't for my status here."

"Immortality has its drawbacks. Of course, I can only relate so much, given my ability to move between worlds."

"I see..."

"Don't lose hope. There may still be a way you can see him again, provided my father's willing to bend the rules a little."

"What about disrupting the natural order?"

"We don't exactly operate within it as things stand."

"I guess that's true, but why would you go so far for me? We don't even know each other."

"Because I love my husband just as much as you love yours. I know he would want to see you happy. He's a good man who's lived a hard life."

"I'll make you a deal. If I listen to your story, in exchange for advice, you can take me to see Shining."

"I'd say that's fair. Just for fun, I'll tease Harmonic a bit. You should see him worked up. It's adorable."

"Maybe we're not as different as I thought."

Harmonic returned with Cadance's water.

"Took you long enough, slowpoke." Atmospheric scolded playfully. The couple shared a tender kiss. Cadance eagerly awaited the day she could once again feel the sensation for herself...
