Two unnaturally large griffins strode down the streets of Griffonstone, walking side by side. Passersby gave them a wide berth while shooting them the occasional look of disdain or fear. Griselda, the female of the pair, had dark charcoal feathers with two small tufts on either side of her head with white-speckled tips. Elegant lighter grey accents surrounded her violet half-lidded eyes, and a smile played at the corners of her black beak. Her wings were maroon and her fur a slightly browner shade of red. She walked with an elegant yet slightly seductive sway of her hips, fully aware her taller stature put her rump closer to eye level with the common griffon.
She spotted an adolescent male ogling her backside out of the corner of her eye and tilted her tail slightly to the side to give him a better look. At first glance it may appear a casual affair, the various griffons occupying their time with instruments or claw-made crafts while they waited, but Gottfried and Griselda knew there was an unspoken hierarchy in place and that griffons often fought beak and claw for prime positions closer to the ramp down where the path was cleaner and the sun less occluded.

The griffons glanced at each other before turning back

Griselda tittered at the suggestion.

The large griffons walked back up the path with the tall creature between them, drawing looks of shock, jealousy, and anger all along the way.

“Did you have any particular destination in mind?”

Gottfried picked the conversation back up, having reorganized his thoughts.
“When I asked earlier if you knew where you were, I was referring specifically to Hencatcher’s Hike. More specifically, the tradition it is rooted in, roosting.”

Griselda used the chance to speak her own piece about it.

If you find it to your liking and settle down, we’d be delighted to call you a friend there, if nothing else. “You two are certainly in sync with each other, I’ll say that much,” he noted. Slowly, a wry smile crept up his face. “Getting out of Griffonstone for free does sound like an amazing deal. And I did enjoy my time with you, more than the usual that is.”
Jeff looked to the ceiling and pursed his lips in thought. Gottfried let a smile slip on his beak while his wife's tail began twitching in anticipation.
“I suppose you did pay me an awful lot. More than I’m worth, I reckon. I supposed I can pay a little bit of it back by hearing you out along the way, if you’ll have me-oof!”
The human was tackled from his sitting position by a grey-and-maroon blur.

“By the way,” Jeff added with a note of curiosity, “Why are you two so damn big?”
