Daring Do looked up at the origin of the silky voice echoing through the vaulted Somnambulan halls and nervously gulped. The Sphinx grinned wide and ran her tongue across her sharp teeth as she tapped her claw on the stone floor of the ancient temple.

“I know, I know! Just give me a little… Hm…” Daring trailed off, thinking to herself. “Maybe… Hm, yeah, I think that’s it….” She whispered, her heart racing. She just might make it out of here yet.
“Wellllll?” Said the Sphinx, looming over her. “Do you have your final answer to my riddle?”
Daring nodded, filled with confidence. “Yes, I do! The answer is… Time!”
The air hung with her shout as the big cat’s purr grew in volume; Daring held her breath, waiting on the verdict.
“That answer is….” The Sphinx looked at her claws coolly, the anticipation hanging in the air. Suddenly, she snapped her eyes to Daring Do and slammed her paw down behind her “...Incorrect!”
Daring’s blood froze, and she gave a nervous smile. “Oh. Buck.”
She spun on her hooves and launched herself into the air, making it all of 5 feet before she found herself wrapped in the big, soft pad of her captor’s paw. She felt herself swing around to look in the Sphinx’s eyes, and she shuddered as the predator showed her sharp, shiny teeth and purred loudly.
“Uh, good kitty?” Daring ventured.
“Hmph, hardly.” The Sphinx shot back. “As per the ancient laws of Sphinx riddle games, I am now allowed to devour you, so please let me do it peacefully. If you do, I promise not to chew, ok?~”
Daring struggled fiercely against the immovable creature. “You’ll never get away with this, you dumb cat! When I get free-eeEEP!”
Her hero’s speech was cut short by a harsh squeeze from the Sphinx.
“Oh blah blah blah, you’re not getting out of this one, Darring D-*uurrp*” The Sphinx blushed as a strange gurgle came from her stomach, and she burped out a pair of lilac and teal panties. The two stared at them for a moment before they disappeared with the familiar zap of teleportation.
“Hm…” The Sphinx murmured, a slightly pained expression on her face as she massaged her stomach with her free paw. “It seems a couple of those tourists I ate earlier are disagreeing with me… I suppose I can’t eat you now….”
“Ha! Then you have to let me go! You have to eat me; if you don’t, the game is invalid!” Daring Do crowed in triumph.

Daring Do sighed and slumped. “Well, we’re at a stalemate then, you have to eat me because of your dumb riddle game, but you can’t eat me because youw widdle sphinx-y winxy tummy huwts, so why don’t you let me go so we can get on with our lives?”
The Sphinx snapped her claw and sat up straight. “I’ve got it! I don’t have to eat you; I just have to devour you!”
Daring looked up unamused. “That’s the same thing, fish brains. Devour means eat. You still haven’t solved the issue here.”
The Sphinx narrowed her eyes and grinned cruelly at her quarry. “Oh, I have other ways to devour you without eating involved at all….” She sat back and slowly reached between her hind legs, stroking her crotch with her other paw. This one was really fun to write! I know, I know, it's not the LyraBon one I keep talking about, but I think I messed up by making an outline for that, it makes it feel like a chore because instead of creating I'm just filling in the gaps from one bullet point to the the next. I may publish a slightly different kind of TF story next instead, it's almost done, I just have to get the last third or so typed out.
