Petty

Here you are, sitting in that chair with no clue how the real world works. Clueless as ever, and that just makes it all the more fair, because the naïve get taught a lesson whether you like it or not.

So today we’ll learn that Sprout Cloverleaf might just be a petty, insecure brat, and maybe today we’ll also learn that there’s something wrong with his brain. It starts with wanting to be noticed, wanting to be sheriff, wanting to be Hitch. It starts simple, and it ends with a crime and his mother wagging her hoof because now she’s cleaning up after him. Now she has to play mother to two, and granny to one, and friendship is thrown in the mix somewhere.

And isn’t friendship a lovely thing? Izzy Moonbow would claim so. It helps keep her mind off an aching belly and the crippling realization that she is a mare now. All mares need to pull their weight if they expected to be protected from the outside world. Bridlewood is the safest place for a magicless unicorn. The hardest part is shutting your mouth and not kicking the hornet's nest.

Alphabittle didn’t like that very much, and no amount of Lime Time soda would save you from a kick in the head.

Petty is inspired by the 99%, the kids with rotted brains from too much internet, the little girls who eat nothing but jam toast for dinner and crackers for breakfast. The good, the bad, the mentally sound, the not. You can read it at face value or search for a deeper meaning within its words. All of it, yet none of it, is intentional. I barely know what I’m doing, but that’s the joy in writing.

The themes explored won’t always be so fluffy despite my love for bright fluffy ponies. Expect the red, raw, bleeding nasty of the world we live in. Expect very real struggles, but also touching moments too because life isn’t always such a drag. So this is a warning from me to you; nothing will be sugarcoated. Expect to see the worst, but hope for the best.

This is my first little story on this site. I tried not to get too lost in my head while writing it. I promise to update when the lightning strikes and the ideas are fresh.

One last thing: this story takes place a year before the events of My Little Pony: A New Generation.
