"So, tell me again, Twilight… Why do you need me here?" sighed Allen as he watched the Princess of Friendship hurriedly go about her study room. The purple alicorn seemed anxious about something as she seemed to zip around the room.
"I'd think you'd know my methods by now, but I need an assistant to aid me in my studies," replied Twilight as she sifted through various scrolls stacked on her shelves. Allen huffed and frowned.
"I know THAT, Purple Smart, but assist you in what? I don't know if you realized it after all these months, but I lack the ability to use magic," grumbled the human, sighing as he looked around the lab. Twilight simply rolled her eyes.
"Yes, you are completely without magic in any sense of the word… but you do have something I lack," she answered, which only confused her 'assistant' more.
What could he possibly have that a magical alicorn lacks besides… certain… reproductive organs? A momentary mental flash of potential and lewd possibilities ran through his mind. "Well? And that is?" asked a curious Allen. His friend giggled in amusement.
"Height, Hands, Reach…" replied Twilight as she tried to focus on the task at hand.
"Seriously? But you have magic; you can bring something to yourself with a thought. How do my hands stack up against that?!" snapped Allen as he quickly got out of the Princess's way while she rummaged through scrolls.

"And what does the seal of Starswirl look like? I've only met him once," piped up the human as he scanned through the shelves.
"It's based on his 'cutie mark', a star with swirls on it," answered Twilight matter-of-factly, not looking up from her search.
"Ah, clever," chimed in Allen sarcastically. "Though it doesn't quite narrow things down," as he saw that seal on quite a few of these scrolls and books, "Hmmm… good point. Oh! The scroll's bound to have the seals of both Celestia and Luna stamped on it," added the alicorn as she raised her head out of the box of papers, a piece of which was stuck to her horn absentmindedly.
Allen could only wonder what this was all leading to as he scoured the various objects bearing the symbol described by the adorable pony. While he pondered what his friend wanted with this particular scroll, his eyes fell upon not only the 'Seal of Starswirl' but the joint marks of the princesses Celestia and Luna. "Uhhh… Twilight! I think I found it," announced the human as he grabbed said scroll. Twilight looked up from her endeavors to see the object she desired in his hands.
"Excellent work Allen!!" she happily cheered as the tell-tale tingly feeling of the alicorn's magic radiated along his hand. Smiling, the human relinquished his hold on the document as it floated down to the now giddy pony.
"So why do you want this scroll so desperately?" inquired a curious Allen as Twilight looked over the incantations transcribed within. A slight blush came to her face as she looked up at him sheepishly.
"Eh heh… Oh, you know… just 'Sciencey Nerdy' Magic stuff," she chuckled anxiously. It was then that her companion noticed her purple tail wagging nervously. This only made the human grin.
"Oh? Is that so? Twilight, you know I know when you're not being 100% honest… right?" asked Allen as he knelt down next to her. Despite all that she's been through up until this point, for some reason, the Princess of Friendship felt more nervous now than ever before," W-W-What?! Re-Really? Noooo… what could I possibly be hiding from you?" she countered, stuttering as her blush became even more pronounced.
"Twi… What is the scroll for?" asked Allen while petting behind her ears. The alicorn shivered to the touch, as her face was almost completely red by this point. "OH HORSE APPLES!!" cursed the adorable pony as she huffed. "Fine… it's a spell designed to… well… enhance one's assets… one's curves." replied a bashful Twilight, gritting her teeth in embarrassment.
"Really?! Why?" asked a confused Allen, sitting down in front of her now. To this, the purple pony frowned, sighing.
"Because… well… compared to the other Princesses…. I'm quite… small." grumbled the nerdy alicorn as she shook her flank from side to side.
"So it's meant to put more metaphorical 'meat on your bones'? More cushion?" observed a now blushing human, each comment causing his little friend to cringe and frown nervously more and more. But as for Allen, he was too busy finding it quite cute that Twilight wanted such things. "Strangely put… but appropriate nonetheless." sighed the purple alicorn. Then a concern came to Allen's conscience. "You're right, Allen! Good… good call," she said as she looked about her lab for something to test on. A candlestick? No, that wouldn't make sense. A statue bust of the legendary Gusty the Great? No, what would THAT accomplish?
Her eyes then fell upon an apple in a basket that Applejack had left for her. Her face broke out into a wide triumphant smile, accompanied by that bizarre 'squeaky toy' noise that Allen always heard in such instances.
"That apple! Let's try it on that apple," stated Twilight as she pointed a hoof at the item in question. The fruit was quickly enveloped in a purple aura and promptly levitated towards a nearby stool.
"Are you sure that'll work?" was the first question that came to Allen's mind.
"I'm not quite sure, Allen, but if it's an enhancement spell… perhaps it'll make it bigger? Or barring that, might increase the flavor." responded the nerdy Princess as she looked over the scroll. Her companion could tell she was intensely reading as her lower lip quivered and moved as she scanned through it. Allen couldn't help but wonder if it would even work. Part of him was curious as to what would happen to the apple… but mostly interested as to whether or not it would actually enhance the body of Twilight. The idea of the short little horse with a bigger ass was an interesting mental image.
"Okay, I think I got the gist of it." announced the pony princess as she set the scroll down next to herself on a nearby desk. "Might wanna back away there, Allen," she advised as she whispered the incantations to herself; a brilliant right red arc of energy began to gather around her as Twilight's eyes went white as her vision focused on the object on the stool. Magic surged towards her horn…
Just then, a pink object immediately entered her field of view within the blink of an eye. "HEY TWILIGHT!" came the perky voice of one Pinkie Pie, shocking the alicorn and causing her body to jolt in response to the sudden fright… just as the energy blasted from her horn.
"GAH! PINKIE!!" snapped the purple alicorn as she glared at her friend, her heart feeling like it was in her throat. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" she hissed, though the pink earth pony's attention was on something else.
"Uhh… Twilight… has Allen lost weight?" she asked, looking concerned at their human friend. This snapped her friend out of her rage as she glanced over at where Allen had been standing.
Only he was much… much smaller than before. Gasping, the Princess of Friendship galloped over to her friend, feeling weird that she was looking down at him for once. "Allen! Are you okay?!" she asked frantically. If she had to guess, off the top of her head, he was currently about 2 Hooves (8 inches) in height.
"I… I think so… w-what happened?" gasped the overwhelmed human as he looked up into the eyes of Twilight. "I thought this was supposed to be an enhancement or growth spell."
"I really don't know! Maybe I misspelled when Pinkie distracted me?" replied his now-large pony friend. Pinkie's eyes went wide at the mention of this.
"Uhhh… oh yeah… suddenly remembered I got some cupcakes back in the oven… for that upcoming Pone-Mitzvah… Hearth's Warming… After-school… Special… Dance… Slumber Party…. BYE!" and with that, the nervous Pinkie was gone in a flash, her body a pinkish blur.
Twilight merely sighed as she rolled her eyes. "And she's gone… just as quickly as she appeared. I'll get back to her later." as she brought the scroll back in front of her. "Either way, I should try to fix this before any other distractions appear." said the Pony Princess as she reviewed the incantations once more.
Allen felt that familiar tingle, though even more pronounced… and stronger as the purple aura surrounded him. He figured it was due to his current size as he was lifted up onto the stool where the apple had once stood.
"Okay, Allen, let's try this again. This should restore your size." reassured his dear 'Purple Smart' as she readied the magics once again. That peculiar bright red arc of energy began to spark and pop around her as Twilight's eyes once again went white as her vision focused on the tiny human. A burst of magic exploded from her horn, hitting Allen square in the chest, blinding him in the process.
Twilight's stomach almost dropped when the flash dissipated, and instead of seeing her friend returned to his original height… he was now even smaller! Now he was merely, and thankfully, just under one and a half hooves. Otherwise, he'd be almost microscopic.

Is THAT why it was, at one point, locked away in that special vault? In response to this mental query, she decided to do a few check-ups and tests to see if it was hexed or cursed.
As the anti-curse magic seemed to 'scan' over the incantations, once invisible text soon appeared. The purple alicorn immediately read this new text intently, and what was said almost made her faint.
"It's a message." she gasped, turning to look down at Allen. "From Starswirl to Princess Celestia."
It read:

AS YOU MAY HAVE NOW REALIZED, THIS SPELL WASN'T WHAT YOU HAD THOUGHT IT TO BE. INSTEAD OF YOUR DESIRED (AND VAIN) 'GROWTH ENHANCEMENT' SPELL, YOU HAVE INSTEAD BEEN SHRUNKEN DOWN.
THIS IS TO TEACH YOU A LESSON, DEAR CELESTIA, IN SELF-CONTROL. AND BEFORE YOU START TRYING TO USE ANY REVERSE SPELLS OR INCANTATIONS, DON'T! I ESPECIALLY MADE THIS TO BE RESISTANT TO ANY 'EASY OUTS'. TO GET YOUR HEIGHT BACK, YOU WILL NEED TO FIND THE FOLLOWING-
"It seems this spell was meant to teach Celestia a lesson. It was intentionally sabotaged by Starswirl, and any 'counterspells' used to try and restore your height won't work." whimpered Twilight, bemoaning her impetuousness. THAT'S why it was locked away in that vault by Celestia.
"Makes sense," piped up Allen, arms folded as he leaned against the apple. "Otherwise Celestia and Luna would be more… uhh… wider, err… chubbier in that regard." said the human, trying not to imagine the Princesses with even bigger 'plots' (as his pony friends say). "And since, like you said, this was locked away in a vault… I'm assuming this has been used before, at one point. Perhaps they know a way we cou-"
"NO! I'm not going to bring this to the attention of Celestia. OR Luna or Cadence for that matter." gasped aloud a blushing Twilight, causing her little human to hold his ears. "GEE, WILLIKERS! Volume!" he barked, causing the anxious and thoroughly embarrassed alicorn to blush even harder.
"Sorry," she whispered softly, looking very sheepish.
"It's okay." responded the tiny man, ringing still in his ears. "You were about to read the way to 'get your height back', as the hidden message said. What do we gotta do to restore me to normal?" asked Allen, shrugging. Twilight nodded and began to scan through the 'cure'.
"Seems it requires a very specialized potion. With uhh… very specific ingredients. Some of them Zecora and I have on hand. But others? 'Toe Nail of a Rock Weasel'? 'Mane Hair from a Kelpie'? 'Sibex Velvet'? Those… could be harder to find." answered his dear 'Purple Smart'.
"Well, it seems like we gotta go on a big adventure!" triumphantly bellowed Allen, wondering where he was gonna be kept by Twilight during their travels. Perhaps saddle bags?
"Uhh… sorry, Al…, but I don't feel comfortable taking you with me." interjected the alicorn princess, an anxious grin on her face. Allen's bravado audibly deflated like a balloon in response.
"But… but…" he started.
"I can't split my time looking for these ingredients AND ensuring your safety. Some of these creatures are dangerous. Well, the 'Kelpie' is at least. I'm going to have to go on this trip alone. It'll be much faster for me, by myself." interrupted Twilight.
