The entire main six were at Zecora's hut.

"Zebra homeland decor. Trixie like." Trixie said.

"You know about Zebras?" Applejack asked.

"Mom said that Zebras come from far away, and while they may appear strange, they can have vast insight." Trixie said.

"That's a fair point. There've been a couple of times Zecora has helped us out when we were stumped." Twilight said.

"You mean like that time you all got infected with Poison Joke? Or that time with the Parasprites?" Smolder asked.

"Yes. Exactly." Twilight said.

"While it is nice to help my friends true, I have to wonder what it is that makes you woe." Zecora said.

"...Mom didn't mention anything about them rhyming however. Trixie head hurts already." Trixie said.

"Trixie's half-sister was spotting wearing something called the Alicorn amulet. Got any info on it?" Twilight asked.

Zecora gasped. "Do my ears deceive me on this day, or did you say that the Alicorn Amulet is in play?" The Zebra asked.

"You know of it Zecora? Trixie just knows that her mom told Trixie to never touch it." Trixie said.

"And for quite the good reason as I can say, that gem is nothing but a bad day. No book has the details in their pages, but I am aware of its damages." Zecora soon started showing something in her cauldron. "Tales of those who wear this gem in red and black, find their minds twisting and turning into evil flack. The only way to remove the gem from it's wearer, is for the amulet to be removed by it's bearer." The Zebra explained. "And true to its name I think you'll find, that it grants a power that'll put you in a bind." She finished.

"Are you saying that it grants the power of an Alicorn?!" Twilight exclaimed.

Zecora nodded and brought out a green jewel. "We must find a way to convince the bearer, and make them become this jewel's bearer." She added.

"...Then it's time to put the things I've learnt from Trixie to the test. But I'll need help from every pony in town." Twilight said.

"What are you planning?" Trixie said.

"You'll see~" Twilight said.

A lone mare soon entered Ponyville, and Trixie was there to greet her.

"Ah, Trixie. I've been waiting to upstage you and show you whose the better sister between us. And with this amulet, I'll be doing just that. Maybe I'll even enslave this backwater town while I'm at it." The unicorn mare in front of Trixie said.

"Trixie thinks you will be doing no such thing. Because Trixie isn't alone." Trixie said as Twilight soon joined her.

"Ah. Twilight Sparkle. The student of Princess Celestia. But...what is that around your neck?" Checker asked, referring to the green jewel attached to Twilight's neck.

"This is the Jewel of Mastery. We heard about how you got your hooves on the Alicorn Amulet, and we were lucky to come across this hidden gem right here in Ponyville. It was created as a counter to your amulet. With all the powers that go with it." Twilight said.

"Ha! I'll love to see you try. I challenge you to a duel." Checker said.

"I very much accept." Twilight said.

Checker and Twilight would start doing magic back and forth, with each one doing several different spells. However, it seems that Twilight was doing them better and even added in a few bonuses too.

"Wh-what?! How can that gem be beating the power of this one?!" Checker said.

"Trixie thinks you need to pay attention: The Jewel was created to counteract the Alicorn Amulet." Trixie said.

"Why you..." Checker soon rushed at Twilight and took the jewel from her. "With this then, I'll become invincible!" Checker said before swapping the alicorn amulet for the green jewel. Only to find it did...nothing? "Huh? What gives?" Checker asked.

Rainbow Dash Quickly scooped up the Alicorn Amulet. "Heh heh...what do you think happened?" She asked as some of the townsfolk showed up, giving off the real truth: Everything Twilight did was an elaborate illusion.

"You...you tricked me using illusions?!" Checker was stunned.

"Kind of ironic huh? We did it so well, you actually believed it was real magic." Twilight said. "Seems even the most powerful gem in existence falls to Illusion Magic." She added.

"Face it sis: You were tricked and you fell for it. What does that say about your skills compared to Twilight?" Trixie asked.

"I...I..." Checker just ran off crying without finishing her sentance.

"Oh that felt good to stick that to my sister. She was always bullying me." Trixie said.

"In that case, serves her right for messing with one of our friends." Fluttershy said.

"I really have to thank all of you. By the way, that gem was nothing more then some powerless rock wasn't it?" Trixie asked.

"Indeed it was, I just decided to use it to our advantage." Twilight said.

"And my sister just ran off with it." Trixie said.

"It's fine. Zecora says she has plenty more just in case. To be extra safe, I had the Alicorn Amulet sent to the Princesses." Twilight said.

"That's probably a good idea. Well then, here's hoping when Trixie next visits, there won't be any crazy happenings like a Pinkie Pie hoard or Trixie's Half-sister trying to upstage Trixie." Trixie said.

"I agree wholeheartedly. Yer welcome anytime Trixie. Take care." Applejack said as Trixie left. "...Though ah'll be honest: Ah didn't agree with that fake magic." Applejack said.

"Hey, the magic may have been fake, but the threat was real. Look at it this way: We used fake magic to beat evil magic." Rainbow Dash said. "That's a win in my book." She added.

"...Ah suppose I'll let that slide. Wish we could've done something with the amulet before we sent it to the Princesses." Applejack said.

"Huh? Why's that?" Flash Sentry asked.

"Ah...Ah can't have kids. There. Ah said it. Now leave me alone!" Applejack said and ran off to the farm.

"...I have a feeling what we'll be doing soon enough." Spike said.

"Agreed." Smolder said.

While the episode after "Magic Duel" on my list is "Wonderbolt Academy", thanks to the narrative going on, that episode is going to be saved for later.
