Chapter 5: No Mercy, No Remorse

Over the Atlantic Ocean

Hawkman’s hellcruiser was flying over the ocean at minimum speed since the team needed a plan to somehow take down this metahuman considering the power set he wields through Dr Fate’s visions of him.

“Alright so this dude has super strength, speed, agility, reflexes, lightning, durability and who knows what else?” Albert listed off as he snacked on some M&M’s.

“Just because someone’s powerful doesn’t mean that they don’t have a weakness,” Carter said as he pulled up a holographic video of Theo destroying vehicles with ease, “Sometimes the power they have is necessary to guard a weakness that can sometimes be staring right back at us and we don’t even know it.”

“But he has a weakness… right?” Albert clarified.

“We just have to find it.” Carter assured him.

Currently, Carter and Albert were at the hologram table that was in the back end of the jet as the door to the room opened and Maxine along with Kent entered as the two of them took their seats.

“So, any ideas?” Maxine asked.

“You’re the one with a 167 IQ, I am curious to hear your opinion on this.” Carter inquired as Maxine shrugged before looking at Theo’s blitzing form on the screen.

“With powers like these, he’s not kryptonian for sure since Superman doesn’t have lightning manipulation. Perhaps he is asgardian but that wouldn’t make any sense due to his speed and strength levels.” Maxine observed as Kent nodded in confirmation.

“You are right but you’re missing the point.” Kent said as all eyes turned to him as he looked at Theo’s figure.

“Black Adam is a completely new type of metahuman and demonstrates a powerful source of magic that rivals those of mine. His capabilities are only the beginning and the longer he has to adapt, the harder it will become to take him down if necessary.” Kent said solemnly as Carter nodded in understanding.

“What does the helmet tell you?” Carter asked as Kent looked at the helmet and sighed.

“My vision has showed me the world in ruins and a throne room full of the dead bodies of many heroes and villains and there was Black Adam, sitting on a throne, ruling unchallenged. He has a tremendous amount of power and it won’t go unnoticed by villains either.” Kent spoke as Albert choked on his candy.

“W-wait, I-I die?” He stuttered in shock as Kent nodded sadly.

“We all do.” Kent confirmed.

“Can we avoid it?” Carter persisted.

“Leave it to me.” Kent spoke with finality before getting up and heading back to the cockpit as the other three members looked at each other as Carter sighed before leaning back in his chair.

“It would seem that Black Adam is more of threat than I thought.” Carter muttered as Maxine looked at him.

“I know that heroes have a strict code on not killing people but… what can provoke someone to kill without any remorse or mercy?” Maxine asked confused.

“I don’t know but whatever the case is, be ready… Black Adam is someone who shows no mercy to his opponents.” Carter spoke darkly.

“I’m too young to die!” Albert wailed as he shoved more chocolate in his mouth to calm himself as Maxine shook her head at his antics before looking at the hologram of Theo as she narrowed her eyes at him and wondered how exactly was she going to counteract someone of this magnitude with just wind.

The Cockpit

Kent sat in the pilot’s seat as the Hawkcruiser was on autopilot and were on their way to their destination and would reach there in a couple of hours. The sun glowed bright in the sky as the man held the Helmet of Fate close to him.

When Kent saw a vision of Theo, he sensed pain in his eyes and the sorrow in his wellbeing as it confused him and his magic signature was different from anything he’s ever seen on Earth.

Kent touched his helmet as he focused and concentrated intensely as he needed to know what exactly they were about to up against.

“Nabu, tell me Black Adam’s origins.” Kent mumbled as the helmet didn’t do anything at first but then Kent’s mind was thrusted into an unknown area as he gasped and looked around as he found himself in a castle as he looked around and his eyes rested on a door that was in front of him as he walked forward and opened it.

The room inside was a complete mess as there was bookshelves that were knocked over and a bed was ripped apart as the room was in complete disarray as Kent’s eyes rested on a brown pony with multiple scars as he was crying to himself as the old man’s eyes softened at the sight of one so young experiencing pain and suffering.

The vision ended as Kent blinked wildly as he found himself back in the jet as he nodded in understanding and looked forward at the passing landscape.

“You are not as you appear, Black Adam.” Kent muttered as he gazed out at the sun and nodded as he held his helmet a little more tighter than before.

“You need guidance and you need help, hopefully you’re willing to listen to us.” Kent muttered before making himself comfortable and closed his eyes to get some rest as the jet continued on its course to Kahn’daq.

Kahn’daq

“We need backup out here!” An Intergang soldier yelled out as he fired his machine gun before an entire truck smashed him flat and left a bloody pancake on the ground.

A group of Intergang soldiers fired their guns on Black Adam as the metahuman floated in the air and fired lightning at them as the ones who were hit were vaporized instantly. Some of them tried to move around through the buildings but the metahuman grabbed them and crushed them within the structures.

Theo relentlessly killed soldiers left, right and center as he showed them no mercy whatsoever as he obliterated the group that was on the street. Soon enough, the street that he fought Intergang on were covered in blood stains as some limbs were twitching as there were body parts all over the place.

“These pigs are no better than the griffins.” Theo said to himself before he heard a scream echo throughout the street.

Using his superior hearing, Theo zoomed to the source of the scream and found out the source of that scream. There was a woman and she was being pinned down by three Intergang soldiers in an alley while a fourth one kept a crowd at bay with his gun. One civilian tried to help the woman but the soldier fired his weapon at him.

Rushing in, Theo used his super speed and appeared in front of the man as the bullet bounced off his body harmlessly as both sides jumped in surprise at the appearance of the metahuman.

The Intergang Soldier went to fire his gun again but Theo grabbed the weapon and crushed it like it was paper before grabbing the soldier by the neck and uppercutted him into the air so hard that a loud crack was heard before he went flying for miles.

Black Adam then glared at the three Intergang soldiers who readied their weapons as one of them yelled, “Back off or she dies!”

In response, Theo fired a lightning bolt at him as his body bursted into bloody chunks as the gun fell to the ground.

The second and third soldiers looked at Black Adam fearfully before they began running the other direction as the metahuman floated and pursued them as Theo relished the looks of fear on their faces.

One of the soldiers took cover behind a car once he turned the street corner as he peeked and saw that Black Adam was nowhere in sight as he sighed in relief.

“Thank god, he’s gone.” He said before a voice spoke from behind him.

“Pitiful.”

The soldier turned around quickly and saw that Black Adam was right behind him as he raised his gun but Theo ripped it out of his hand before grabbing the soldier and lifting him above his head as he screamed in terror.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!!!!” The soldier cried out but Theo was deaf to those cries as he ripped the man’s leg out easily and slammed the body against the road as his head bursted open and brain chunks coated the road.

Theo looked up the street and saw the last soldier was running back towards him guns blazing as he held his hand out and caught each and every bullet with ease as the soldier yelled in anger.

“You son of a bitch! I’ll kill you!” The soldier shouted.

Black Adam rushed forward and grabbed his head before ripping the man in two halves and throwing the useless corpse on the street as people began cheering from their apartments as Theo looked up at them and nodded.

“I could get used to this.” Theo spoke with a dark smile.

Faraway

Unbeknownst to Black Adam, there was someone watching from faraway as she saw the vicious actions and the brutal executions Theo was conducting on the criminals as the video feeds were coming in as she clenched her teeth tightly and glared at the metahuman on the screen.

“You will fall Black Adam… one way or another.” Waller spoke angrily before one of her associates called out to her.

“Waller, the Justice Society have reached Kahn’daq!” He reported as Waller nodded.

“Good… now let’s see if they can handle him.” She said darkly as a separate feed showed the JSA’s jet entering Kahn’daq airspace.

Kahn’daq

Theo looked at the crowd that was cheering for him as he gave a gentle nod of understanding as to why they were clapping so enthusiastically for him. They have been under Intergang’s watch for a long time and the fact that Stan told him that other heroes exist in this world and haven’t done a damn thing about it made Theo angry at them.

He will have to deal with that later as he looked at the crowd that was chanting his name as he smiled but a nagging thought occurred in his head.

Does that mean they were his friends?

Sure, they followed him and see him as a hero to them but does that make them his friends? No, right? Theo shook his head and those thoughts were filed for later processing as he looked around before his eyes rested on a nearby watchtower where he saw two Intergang soldiers aiming their weapons at him.

Gaining an irritated look on his face, Theo flew towards them before grabbing both soldiers and knocking bits of the watchtower off as he flew up with them to the sky.

Nearby, Hawkman’s Hellcruiser flew into Kahn’daq as the team sort of came up with a plan to neutralize Black Adam as Carter flew the ship while Maxine and Albert looked down from the window for any suspicious activity.

Kent was in his chair before the Helmet of Fate glowed against his hand as he woke up startled as a powerful presence approached their position.

“He’s here.” Kent said in a serious tone.

“You see him?” Maxine asked.

“No, I sense him and he’s not one to play games.” Kent said as he pointed out the window as the rest of the team looked and saw Black Adam flying with two soldiers in his hands.

Theo looked at both of them murderously as the soldiers were pleading for their lives before he heard a strange sound behind him and saw a massive jet halting and floating in the air behind him.

“What the hell?” Theo muttered as he turned and faced them as he met eye to eye with four people in the strange flying contraption.

Carter pressed a button on his console as it activated the speakers and he spoke in a tone that made Maxine and Albert shiver a little.

“Black Adam, you pose a serious threat to the world and those around you, you murder criminals with no mercy nor do you show remorse to those who conduct small or otherwise non-lethal crimes. You are to relinquish your powers and surrender… otherwise we will be forced to take you down by any means necessary!” Carter spoke in a deadly serious tone.

“There’s no way he doesn’t feel intimidated.” Albert said.

“He just as to put those guys down.” Maxine said nervously.

Theo heard the warning that was given to him along with the small replies of Maxine and Albert as he looked at his hands and saw that they were coated in blood as he looked at the soldiers in his hands and then back at the members in the jet.

“Fuck your terms.” Theo spoke darkly before smashing the bodies of the two soldiers together as loud cracks were heard and then throwing the dead corpses at the jet as the bodies bursted all over the window the JSA were looking through as blood splattered all over the glass.

“I’m gonna throw up!” Albert said as he rushed to the back as Maxine covered her mouth with her hands in horror while Carter was in disbelief before anger flooded his mind as he got up angrily and looked at his team.

“Prepare for the fight of your lives.”
