When the group of five fateful friends set out across the Equestrian wilderness looking for adventure, this certainly wasn't what they had in mind.

The group stood warily in a defensive circle, with their backs against each other and eyes wide, darting, and fearful...for around them circled three huge, growling, hungry male lions, eying them up for an afternoon meal.
"S-s-so...a-anypony got any bright i-ideas?" Zipp asked, clutching her sister's hand tightly as she tried her best to hold off the terrified trembles that wracked her frame.
Pipp looked to be nearly wetting herself from fear, too stunned to even think of responding.
"Maybe we could...overpower them?" Hitch offered, though even he didn't seem convinced by his suggestion.
Sunny shook her head. "Not happening. Even if all of us could fight, it'd take more than one of us for each of them. In a one-on-one brawl, nopony could stand up to one of these..."
Clutching Sunny's hand tightly, Izzy's eyes sparkled as a thought occurred to her. "What if Zipp and Pipp could fly us to safety? And can't you fly, too, Sunny?"
The earth mare frowned in response, feeling the pink pegasus mare's tremors against her back. "I don't think Pipp is in a position to do much of anything right now, Izz. Least of all carry one of us away. And I don't really trust my alicorn magic to save my life, yet..."
Izzy 'hmph'ed. "Don't know what other options we have right now. It's better than the zero chance we've got if we just let them come at us, right?"
As if to prophetically answer her question, the lion in front of her pounced, deciding he was through with waiting. The mare screamed bloody murder as her fight-or-flight filled her veins with adrenaline...seconds became hours as that gaping, slavering maw neared her, his immense paws outstretched with claws at the ready, leg muscles rippling with unbridled power.
Her horn flashed with light as a bolt of magic struck the male right between the eyes, sending him reeling back from the blow as he tumbled to the grass.
"Look out!" Came Zipp's exclamation, as the two other lions took the first's move as a signal to attack. Thinking quickly, she grabbed Pipp by the armpits, hauling her skyward as her wings burned from the strain of launching them both aloft.
Sunny pulled Izzy close as Hitch shielded both of them with his body, awaiting their end.
The whistle of an arrow graced their ears like a ghost’s call, and the heavy thump it made as it embedded itself in the lion's midsection was accompanied by a snarling growl of rage from the beast charging the three of them, turning to face the direction it had been shot from--before its next move was cut short by a second arrow landing right in its eye with a profoundly unpleasant sound, the beast dropping to the ground instantly.
Fwip-fwip-fwip, thump-thump-thump. The call-and-response of whistling arrows striking true into beastly flesh echoed from all around them, the three plains predators riddled with whisper-quiet bow strikes faster than any of them could react, felling them in a few heart-stopping moments.
After a moment's ghastly silence, a few black-and-white bipedal shapes made themselves known as they emerged from the underbrush.
They were like nothing the five had ever seen--white fur clad with black stripes, their smaller bodies trim and taut and muscular, clad in a variety of animal furs that offered both protection and modesty.
As Zipp and Pipp settled back down on the earth (which caused a flurry of wide-eyed discussion amongst the locals), one of them, clad in more furs than the others, approached. "Hello, ponies! It seems you are lucky that we arrived when we did. The plains are no place for inexperienced tourists such as yourselves."
"Uhh..." was all Hitch could respond with, eyes tracing up and down the shorter zebra's form with wide eyes.
"Come, come! Follow us back to the city. There will be much time for discussion there." The leader of the group spoke, his hand imploring towards a direction that looked no less empty than the others. For the most part, the group eyed it skeptically, though Izzy was the exception.
"Woah, you guys have a city out here?! That's so cool!" The unicorn exclaimed, skipping off into the plains before turning back to face them when they didn't move with her. "Sunny, c'mon, doncha wanna learn more about our new friends?" She asked.
The four of the group exchanged glances, and Sunny gave her a sheepish nod. The rest of the group rolled their eyes, sighing. "Alright, but if we get barbecued or something once we get there, I'm blaming you," Zipp added gruffly, allowing the natives to lead.
Much of the trip passed in silence, the two groups focused on crossing the unforgiving plains rather than slowing things down with conversation. It was understandable, really -- it had been at least a week since anypony had seen a shower or mane trimming, and a warm bed and warm meal sounded incredible.
Before long, after night fell, a vast array of buildings came into view on the horizon, thin pillars of smoke rising into the starry sky from the many heating and cooking fires burning across the town. It was, in its own way, rather charming.
A small group of the local ponies had gathered to greet the hunting party as they approached, though their demeanor and expressions visibly grew excited as they noticed the colorful group of strangers that had accompanied the party's return. One young boy ran off towards the large, official-looking building at the settlement's core -- the mayor's house, no doubt.
By the time the group had arrived at one of the large bonfires, set within the center of a group of buildings, it seemed that most of the neighborhood had come out to greet them. Said group included the mayor, who was recognizable from the fact that he was at least a head taller than the rest of the men in the village; practically the same height as Hitch!
"Hello, hello, my wonderful guests! It is an honor for ponies like yourselves to visit our humble town. I am Mlezi, the leader of the many fine Zebrican mares and stallions you see before you." As he gestured to the surrounding group broadly with both hands, they waved and cheered loudly in response. "You will be our honored guests. You have come at a fortuitous time, as well! A great feast is upon us tonight, and there shall be many wonderful festivities ahead of us."
Much of the wariness and nerves that the five had upon first arriving quickly bled away as they mingled with the populace. Sunny's discussions with the chief had been especially enlightening. Apparently, after Equestria ceased contact with Zebrica due to the collapse of unified government and the spread of isolationism, Zebrica had to turn to their other neighbors (Griffonia and Saddle Arabia, among others) to maintain their economy, through the exchange of goods, people, and ideas.
Their vast knowledge of runes and potions had gained even more value with the abrupt and wholesale loss of Equestrian magic and artifacts. In addition to that, he had explained, Zebrica also became well-known for its sex tourism. The reputation of Zebricans as expert lovers talented in the erotic arts was wide-ranging and attractive to those adventurous enough to make the journey, and certainly profitable enough for the nation as a whole to encourage it.

If Chief Mlezi noticed, it had only served to make his smile widen.

Only Izzy among them seemed eager to watch the imminent 'demonstration', and Sunny had to admit...some of that excitement was rubbing off on her.

Although you must understand, you are quite possibly the first group of explorers that have come to this village without seeking its pleasures...so the accommodations will be, different, than what you are used to."
Zipp squinted suspiciously at him, put on edge by his cagey response. "Different how, exactly?"
The most distracting part of the accommodations wasn't the lurid decor, resplendent in scenes of tantric ecstasy. It wasn't the runically-heated jacuzzi or the huge bed that dominated the front area of the room.

"Y-yeah...to-totally..." Pipp replied weakly. The walk through the halls had nearly brought the five of them to their knees before they'd even reached the rooms, such was the sheer intensity of the dense, cloying musk that suffused the whole place.
With a smile and a nod, the chief closed the door behind him with a heavy thud, leaving the five ponies together to stew in their lurid thoughts.

Licking her lips, Izzy captured each of the tray covers in her magic and lifted them away, setting them aside as the group looked over the bounty they'd been presented with.
A spread of salads, fruits of sizes and varieties that none of them had ever seen before, and a smaller offering of sweet desserts and confections laid bare to them.
The five devoured each tray as if they'd found water in a desert -- which wasn't that far from reality.
"Ahh...Gods, that spread even gives Mom's royal chefs a run for their money!" Pipp sighed happily, licking her lips of residual fruit juices.
Izzy nodded happily, leaning into Sunny a bit as the two of them sat next to each other on the bed, cross-legged. "Yeah, Bridlewood's got nothing on what these Zebricans have to offer!" Izzy agreed eagerly, bouncing a bit. The rest of the group did their best to avoid ogling the way the unicorn's braless, hefty bosom heaved from the gesture, only partly succeeding. I thought it would break me at first; that I wouldn't be able to hit the deadline for the contest, or that the fic wouldn't be long enough to appeal...but I ended up having to cut out some scenes! It's been an absolute pleasure to write this story, and I'm glad Dezmo's contest catalyzed me into action on writing it -- it's been sitting on my Trello ideas list for months.
