"You want me to what?!" A voice echoed, thoroughly disrupting the peace of the day. "There is no way in tartarus that I am going back to that place."
"My son, you must do it, for your father is much too old. His hooves cannot carry him that distance, so I seek someone of younger age to do so." An old, raspy voice replied.
A laugh was heard, "Old colt? You got to be kidding me. You're just using your one thousand year boost as an excuse not to go. Your hooves don't hurt, you're just lazy!" The other shouted, clearly upset. "But like I said, I ain't going."
"Then who will take up this job?" The old one asked. "Who will take up on this journey," his voice getting increasingly louder. "WHO WILL SAVE US FROM THIS MINOR DESTRUCTION OF OUR VERY LIFE STYLE!" He was yelling now, as if to get the attention of someone.
The both heard a crash, and the door swung open with massive force, almost breaking it. "Did someone say they needed a hero!" A young, medium sized alicorn stated proudly, sticking his body straight up as if in heroic poses.
"No, ju-" The middle aged one was cut off by the older one, "Yes! We are in a desperate need of a hero young one." The older one shot a glare of daggers at the middle aged one, quickly shutting him up.
The colt chuckled, "Well have no fear pops, cause Captain Threads is here!" He shouted, and for some reason a few fireworks, and explosions went off behind him.
The old one, and the middle aged one said nothing, their faces completely blank. Void of appreciation and excitement for the hero before them, they rolled their eyes, the middle aged one face hoofing.
"So, what is the matter pops?" Captain Threads asked, "A hero never backs down a challenge, lay it on me!"
"I like your enthusiasm colt!" The older one said, "Your mission is to go check on a disruption in the arcane fields to the south." Threads nodded madly, though he wasn't paying much attention.
"Sure thing pops," Threads said, "In Equestria," the old one said.
The middle aged one could have sworn a full twenty minutes passed before Threads made even a single gesture of movement. He was frozen like a statue, unmoving, he didn't even blink. His idiotic smile planted on face never ceased to move either. Finally his smile slowly turned into a horrified face, "Y-You mean?" He asked, fear in his voice.
"Yes my son," The old one said, closing his eyes momentarily. "You must..." He gulped, "Talk to those two again."
"B-But," The younger one argued, "Space, She'll kill me!"
The middle aged one, known as Space, shook his head. "I thought you said hero's never back down from challenges."
"Challenges?!" Threads screamed, fear clearly visible in his eyes. "This is a suicide mission!"
The old one laughed, "Come on now, you two were a cute couple."
"Yeah, maybe that's because we were like what, ten?" He stated, "Think about now, pops, imagine what she would do as a full grown mare!"
Threads was far from laughing, his serious look shattered the whole, 'hero' act. "Why can't we just send Sparks, or somepony like her? I mean, they were best friends with her!"
"Sparks is out gathering information on the human world, Violet is sleeping, Sakura is....Well I don't have a clue where she is." Space said in a matter of fact way.
"Threads," the old one said. "It's time you put past grudges behind you and at least go apologize."
Threads thought for a moment, then sighed heavily. "Whatever you say old man. Just prepare my funeral, cause I doubt i'll make it back here in one piece."
Space, and Pops smiled as they watched Threads disappear in a engulfing aura of darkness.
"You sure he's going to be fine. You didn't forget about the way her younger sister feels right?" Space asked.
Pops thought for a moment, then a surprised look came over him, "Oh...Shit."
As most would expect, the most powerful pony in society, obviously of royal standards were in a meeting. She tends to have these every single day with pony officials and military operatives. From outside the main hall, more upper outside the windows spied Threads. He sniffed the air around him gently. "This is Equestria all right," he groaned, "I wonder where she is? I just hope I don't bump into her..."
Threads only wanted to be here for a simple repair-ponies job of fixing a small rift in the arcane wall. The arcane wall is a form of protection against unnatural magic, known as chaotic magic. Threads himself set up this magical barrier a few thousand years ago to nullify Discords magic, and render him basically useless. Thus, being the designer and creator, he could feel where the breach was from miles away. It's like a spider and her web, the slightest tingle in motion warns her immediately.
"Not canterlot, thank god." He sighed, realizing the breach wasn't in the home of his nightmares. Closing his eyes slightly he noticed the new location, turning his head west. With a small spell called 'Extended Vision' which literally does as it says, he saw that the breach was in fact much farther than he thought. It soon become blurry to the point where he couldn't see, but he assumed that is was in that village.
"Maybe I'll get to meet those six, from what I've heard they seem to be quite the bunch." He said with a smile before disappearing in darkness.
Twilight Sparkle was out with her trusted assistant Spike at lunch. They stopped at the new restaurant opened by a few young colts ready to start their new lives in the art of business. Spike didn't care as long as they sold gems, which after a few words between the lavender mare and the oblivious colts, she managed to convince them to sell gems just for this occasion.
In between her bites and munches on her dandelion sandwich she noticed something odd about the air. Just a few seconds ago she felt the cool breeze of the air push against her back, but no longer. Her curiosity grew as Spike stopped chewing his gems altogether, his eyes growing to the size of peas.
Twilight put down her sandwich, "what's wrong Spike, do the gems taste bland?" Spike shook his head slowly, and started to raise his arm pointing behind her.
Twilight at this moment started to notice the air stopped altogether, and she also noticed a large shadow looming over her table. Assuming it was a waiter at first soon diminished as she noticed just how large the shadow was. Slowly she turned around, curious as to what could be of such immense size. As soon as she turned around she noticed a huge pony, the size of her mentor, if not larger. His coat was dark gray. His mane was much darker, almost seeming to be ebonite black. His brown eyes lit up, and focused directly on the small mare before him.
"Hey, you're Twilight right," He smiled like a maniac, "It's great to finally meet you, I've heard so much about you!" He said, raising his hoof for a formal greeting.
Twilight gulped, and nodded, "Y-Yes, I am...But who are you, might I ask?"
"Who, me?" He looked around, before laughing like a madman. "Of course me. You can just call me Threads, nice to meet you!" He looked around with a sheepish look on his face, "So where are the others?" He asked.
"Others? What do you mean?" She asked, ignoring his weird attitude.
Threads sighed, "You know, the other elements. I'm curious to see if Sis chose the right ponies for the job."
"..Sis?" She asked, generally confused.
"You know, your ruler, that white pony everyone worships like a god." He said sarcastically phrasing on the idea of her being a god.
"The Princess, you mean? And why do you call her Tia? That's disrespectful to say to your ruler." She said, getting quite mad.
Threads laughed hard, "My ruler? Give me a break, Twilight. As for her nickname, I knew her when she was just a foal," he said nodding, "We grew up together."
Twilight gulped again, processing down all this information. "That explains that horn, and wings then.."
"Wait, wait, wait," Twilight said, shaking her head. "The Princess said she and her sister were the only alicorns left, so who are you?"
"She said what?!" He screamed, gathering the attention of nearby ponies. "Oops, sorry..." He said sheepishly.
He moved closer to Twilight, "you mean she didn't tell you about me, or pops?"
She shook her head, "pops? Who is that? And no, she never mentioned you."
Threads felt as if he was stabbed in the back by one of most precious friends. Except that basically just happened, though not literally of course. Threads lost all his cheery excitement and a sudden serious look came over him. Twilight noticed this, flinching a bit in his change of expression.
"I see," He said slowly. "That's quite unfortunate, I was hoping she would remember." A few seconds passed before he changed his sad tone into one of a more cheery and stupid one, as before.
"Thank you, Miss Twilight, but as you can tell I'm not here without a reason."
"I suppose?" She replied, unsure.
He chuckled lightly, "I've seen that you've obtained quite the reputation as a magician yourself, I'm only assuming that you were the one that destroyed my wall."
"What?"
"Don't worry, it's far too complicated for you to understand, but just try to be more careful next time when playing around with arcane spells, please." He begged, receiving a nod from the book worm.
"By the way, did you know that there is a missile made of exactly I warned you not to make heading straight at me, as we speak?" He said with a small smile.
"What?!" She jumped back a slight bit, only to notice an incoming bolt of dark light slam into the alicorn before her. He was sent flying back into the entrance of the new restaurant, completely demolishing the building. Many ponies screamed and ran away, some standing around in shock at the dramatic explosion.
"YOU!!"
Twilight heard this voice, loud as thunder, soon recognizing it to be of the darkest of nights, the lunar princess approaching slowly. Her horn was charged, and magical essence was spurting from it as she just casted a higher level spell. Ponies from all around bowed before her presence, but she didn't even care. Their existence was the last thing on her mind.
"Princess, what have you done!?" Twilight screamed, "You just killed an innocent pony!" Twilight ran over to the pile of rubble trying to pull off as many pieces as she could to save the poor pony that was sent flying into the building. Twilight has never in her life experienced something so dramatic, and she was starting to cry silently.
He was so helpless...
The lunar princess approached Twilight at a much faster rate. "Twilight, move yourself from that traitors presence."
"Traitor? What are you talking about?" Twilight said, tears in the corner of her eyes. For all she knows, her royal guardian just killed somepony completely oblivious to any harm.
"So this is what you've been telling yourself all these years, huh?" A voice came from within the rubble.
The rubble started to shake as a seeping black came from within the inside. The magic twisted and danced about. Twilight backed up a few steps, realizing that this was something she read in her textbooks. The magic formed into that of flames, and started to eat away at the rubble. The Black Flame that could eat anything. Slowly but surely the rubble disappeared into nothingness as the fire ate away. From within the flames a figure stood up, revealing it to be Threads.
He said nothing, simply stepping forward toward the lunar princess with each step. The fun, innocent look on his face was gone, instead replaced with a expression that could only portray hatred, and betrayal.
"If you what you say is what you believe Lu...Then this is an act of war." He smiled deeply, revealing his inner desire.
To fight.
"So this is who you really are," Luna announced.
"Shadow Flame, the Black Hole of Equestria."
Word gets around fast, especially with the recent invention of creating portals. The Royal Guard set up in Ponyville immediately came to Celestia as soon as Luna attacked the new foe. From what Celestia was being told her eyes went wide, and she smiled slightly. "Set up a portal, I'm going."
Shadow beamed as bolts of arcane and darkness flew at him. He dodged each of them accordingly, yawning in between them. Though he would never hurt the princess, he wanted to have as much fun with as he could. Luna knew she couldn't win a fight against Shadow, so she tried her best to focus all her magic in protecting herself. She charged her horn and fired another missile but Shadow was amiss. She looked around frantically, "Looking for me?" A voice said, from behind her. She flinched, teleporting a few yards away in a slow pant.
Silence filled the air as the two gods stared at one another. Slowly a chuckle escaped Luna's lips, then came a laughter. Before she knew it she was laughing along with Shadow in a fit of giggles and hysterical laughter. She approached Shadow and gave him a long hug, "It's great to see you again, Shadow!"
Shadow complied with the hug, and nodded in response. "How long has it been? A thousand years?" He asked, receiving but yet a nod from Luna. The two released from the hug, and Shadow noticed Luna was blushing slightly. "Oh Wow...Luna you've grown!" He complimented, making a deeper shade of red appear on her face. Shadow laughed at her embarrassment, then noticed that he himself was nervous.
With a turn of his head he noticed that she was actually quite attractive. He tried to hide his interests, but he knew he couldn't hide from her.
He heard a giggle, "See something you like?"
He shook his head slowly, "Nothing in particular." He was lying, and he knew it. A thousand years ago, he would have never had such thoughts about her, but now...She was a full grown mare, and he was a full grown stallion. He tried his best to hide his growing curiosity...If you know what I mean, yet only receiving another flirty giggle from the mare.
Somehow Shadow managed to control himself, his face retorting back to his usual idiotic expression. He looked around to see a confused, emotionally wrecked mare, presumably Twilight. Shadow laughed at her confusion, his sides starting to hurt from the shear funniness of it.
"I-I, nevermind..." Twilight said before walking away with Spike, who stood idly for the majority of the match. Shadow didn't care, he was only here to see Luna.
He turned his attention back at Luna who was looking him over thoroughly. "What," he said, "see something you like?" He added with a taunting chuckle. She looked at him with a more serious look that pretty much said, 'I'm not amused.' He laughed again, his cheeks starting to hurt from all the smiling.
"I do say it's not surprising though," he boasted, "training for the last thousand years tends to do this to you." Shadow flexed his new body. He was a well built alicorn, tall, strong, and fast. Though he did have one embarrassing secret...
"Still can't fly, can you?" She asked with a sigh.
Shadow held his head down in shame, "Nope. These babies are practically useless other than for propelling myself forward."
Luna sighed, “What am I going to do with you?”
Shadow shrugged lightly, “I dunno, but I’m bored. Can we go somewhere else?”
Luna frowned, “What’s wrong with this place?”
Shadow laughed slightly, glancing over to the destruction of the previous building of delicious products of foods. “Well you know..”
Lunas' eyes went wide after noticing the major result of destruction. She laughed nervously, taking a few steps back from the debris. Shadow joined along with her in the slow reversal of movement, slowly but surely about to break for it. "Say, Shadow?"
"Yeah..?"
"What do you say we..."
"Run?" Shadow asked.
"I think not," a voice came from behind them. "You two will not be going anywhere until you can clean this up."
Shadow and Luna froze, taking mental note of who was behind them. Shadow felt sweat pour down the back of hit neck, as he was getting severely nervous and scared. He glanced over at Luna who was completely frozen. Her eyes didn't move from the very spot from which she first heard the voice. Realizing he wouldn't get any sympathy or support from Luna, he imagined a grassy field just outside of Ponyville. Concentrating even harder, he thought of him actually being there.
"Don't even think about it Shadow." The voice said, a hint of serious anger in it.
Shadow chuckled, cancelling the spell. "Sorry Luna, I guess I couldn't get us out of this one."
Shadow could genuinely tell that Luna was terrified of the somepony behind her, like a child who was discovered stealing from the cookie jar. Shadow had just about every idea of who it could have been, gulping lightly before turning around in a quick solid movement.
He met her with another stupid grin, "Hey sis, what's up?"
