Wild Rose and Rogus
Pathway to Skyvaria and a growing connection
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAuthor's Note
I truly enjoy writing about the love these two show for each other, you can just see how they talk and interact with each other. It's crazy to think it's been over four months since I first drew Wild Rose and Rogus for the first time. They really have a life of their own.
I'm working on the next part of this story.
Pathway to Skyvaria and a growing connection
Rogus felt his head spinning and the fire in his chest growing more intense as she kissed him back. He’d almost forgotten that he was moving around in the water. He’d stopped moving and felt his chin drop a bit to the water, taking in a breath he pulled back and opened his eyes. He started to move his back legs again while opening his wings to help him stay afloat.
Wild Rose leaned her head forward and placed her forehead against his. Her eyes opened and found that her vision was blurred, blinking her sight cleared up. A smile curled her lips, and she took in a breath of warm air thanks to the heat coming off of Rogus's body.
Rogus started to lean back and take Wild Rose with him, his lower half lifted and floated on top of the water. Wild Rose lay across his body water running off of her body, her mane and tail floated along the ripples that bobbed along with them.
“You weren’t going to sink Rogus.” Wild Rose finally addressed the sudden tension she felt coming from Rogus that had caused him to break the kiss.
Rogus ran his claws through her mane and let them wrap around her upper back near her shoulders. “I know, I was just lost in the moment.”
“So was I.” Wild Rose replied with a grin. What have we started? We’ve just met…yet… She found her heart racing from her thoughts. “This is crazy-”
“At our obvious connection?” Rogus asked and was granted with her grin turning into a wide smile with a twinkling in her eyes. “I’ll take that look as a yes.”
Wild Rose happened to look over top Rogus's head and spot the beginning rays of the sun that were cresting the horizon. “Home…”
Rogus tilted her head at the single word he heard her say. “What do you mean?”
“The sunrise, it’s my way home.” Wild Rose replied to him and summoned her unicorn magic that cast her figure in a light purple hue.
The next thing Rogus knew she’d vanished from atop him. He started to look around and find out where she’d teleported to. She could have easily vanished when I first scared her. He thought when she disappeared. His blue eyes came to rest on a familiar figure standing on the shore several feet away from where he was floating in the water. Her gaze was lifted to the sun as the yellowish hue of the horizon took on a more golden color. Rolling over onto his stomach he used his wings to lift himself off the water. Gliding over to Wild Rose he landed beside her. “Home how?” Now she’s speaking in riddles again like when I’d first brought up where she was from-
“Rogus?”
He blinked as if he’d been in a trance. “Yes?” The sound of her saying his name pulled him out of his thoughts.
“Just watch, all will be explained.” Wild Rose replied when she’d got his attention.
His gaze lifted to where she hadn’t taken her eyes off.
The sun peaked over the horizon and started to rise between a set of rocks that were jutting out of the water they were standing in front of on the shoreline. Rogus watched in wonder as a large island started to appear above the rocks floating in the sky.
“That’s Skyvaria.” Wild Rose said as a smile curved her lips.
“Well, this explains why you said it can’t normally be seen,” Rogus commented.
Wild Rose nodded. “We must hurry, the bridge created by the sunlight won’t stay long.” She started to trot up to where the bridge had connected to the shoreline that came from between the rocks and led up to the floating island.
“Can’t we just fly up to the island?” Rogus asked spreading his large wings.
“I wouldn’t know Rogus, as you can see, I don’t have wings.”
“Oh, I know,” Rogus grinned. “I’ve gotten a good look.” His gaze wandered over her body from head to flank, and hoof to tail.
Wild Rose snorted. “Very cute Rogus, let's give it a try.” She wasn’t going to object to being held by him again or feeling like she was flying again.
Rogus smiled when Rogus reared up on her hind legs and allowed him to pick her up. This time she would be expecting this to happen. Her tail swirled around his legs as he lifted her off the ground. With this strength, she felt like a feather compared to her. Opening his wings he flapped them and started to lift off the ground.
Wild Rose smiled as she watched him lift off ground. Her mind drifted back to the first time he’d taken her on a flight. The shock of being lifted off the ground had been replaced with the joy of actually flying. That same feeling was back again. “Still amazing.”
“Me or the fact that I can fly?”
Wild Rose smiled at him. “Um…I’d say both.” She replied and felt her creative writing juices flowing again. Luckily for her, the spell she’d cast on the items Rogus had found her with would follow her no matter how far she ventured away from them.
They climbed higher into the sky as Rogus followed the pathway of light up to the island. The land of the island came into view as a vast forest could be seen over the edge of the island. “It looks so much bigger from above,” Rogus said taking in the look of the island.
“It’s Skyvaria’s magical skyrose crystals.” Wild Rose replied. “It’s what hides the island and gives magic to the creatures of the island.” She summoned her alicorn magic and her body started to glow a light lavender color.
“What are you…” He felt her body lift off his arms as she levitated beside him surrounded by a purple aura. “How…’
“I have access to my full magic when I am on or close to Skyvaria. When I am down on Equestria my magic is limited.” Her mane and tail swirled around her body with the wind blowing around them.
“Care to show me around Skyvaria?” Rogus asked as he used his wings to hover near Wild Rose.
“Sure.” Wild Rose said with a warm smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. She had ideas in her head.
Rogus lifted an eyebrow at the way she was looking at him. “Are you okay?”
“Of course Rogus.” She replied flying off using her unicorn magic. Glancing back she found Rogus close behind.
Rogus caught a grin on Wild Rose’s lips. His dragon curiosity was growing stronger, there was something about the way she kept looking at him. “Where’d you have in mind?”
“I’ll take you to my place.” Wild Rose kept the same grin on her lips as she used her magic to move through the air. “Unless you want to look around on your own.”
“Then show me where you live, I’ll be able to find it again,” Rogus replied while flying alongside her as she dove and twisted through the trees and down below the canopy. He watched her tail swirling in the wind and came close to not seeing an incoming branch. Images of her journal popped into his head for some unexplained reason, but it gave him an idea. “You want to write, don’t you?”
Wild Rose was glad she was flying by her magic, Rogus could have dropped her with a motion of shock that she felt her front hooves jump in a spasm. “Um…yes…how-”
“Lucky guess,” Rogus admitted he grinned at how she’d reacted. Guess I was spot on. Wonder what she’s wanting to write about. He couldn’t help but let his mind wander. I could give a few suggestions-.
“Here’s my place.” Wild Rose said landing on the soft green grass that had a few fallen leaves around a tree-like house. “I’ll keep the upstairs window open; it leads into my bedroom.”
Rogus landed in a nearby tree, where he was able to see her and hear what she’d said. “I’ll…keep that in mind.” He replied while looking at what could only be described as a large tree trunk, overhead that’s all you’d see.
“Don’t stay away too long, it gets lonely.” She said with a smile and her eyelashes lowered a bit caster her dark green eyes in deeper shadows. Turning she walked through the door of her home.
Rogus felt his back claws gripping the branch he could feel his back legs starting to cramp up. He loosened up his claws and took off from the tree branch he’d been standing on.

The sun had moved down past the island casting the land in deep the deep colors of indigo, shadows merged as Rogus made his way back to where Wild Rose’s place was. He felt that only a few minutes had passed, yet it was more like a few hours. I bet she’s had enough time to write… He hadn’t even seen half of Skyvaria its beauty kept him from exploring more.
Wild Rose had been writing away in her journal. Her light purple aura from her horn kept her quill gliding across the paper. She only stopped to dip the quill and go right back to writing. Her stories always involved romance and passion. Her mind started to drift to a particular dragon she'd seen around and just so happen to spark a bit of inspiration.
Rogus flew as fast as he could on dragon wings to the place Wild Rose said she lived. He noticed a window was open and he landed on the balcony. Making sure to not make a sound he could see Wild Rose writing away. You weren't kidding about writing. What do you write you haven't said... Moving silently he crept into the room through the open balcony window. She had a light on so he knew he wouldn't cast a shadow. Curiosity from being a dragon was pulling at him. He was able to make out a few words on the page she was writing. He found himself lost in the words until a name on the page made him let out a gasp.
Wild Rose's quill jabbed the page and a glob of ink looked like an oversized period.
Rogus had put his claws over his mouth. “Sorry.” He managed to say when he realized he’d accidentally scared her.
Wild Rose turned to him. "I um...didn't hear you come in..."
Rogus could see the slightly darker pink on her cheeks. "You were writing...and...I didn't want to disturb you.” What were you writing about…about me, I know I spotted my name on those pages.
She kept glancing back at her book and then at Rogus. “Guess I can stop for a bit and spend the rest of the night with you.”
Rogus took in a deep breath and said what was on his mind. “Does what you’re writing have something to do with me? I remember hearing you talking about me when I’d found you in the woods down on Equestria.”
