She stared down at Throax, she felt raw satisfaction rise as she saw the changeling, who betrayed her for seeking out friendship, shake in fear at her presence. His whole life was dependent on her. But he wasn't alone, in fact he brought along friends, somehow: a blue pony, which she didn't know the name of, nor will she care too; Discord, the Lord of Chaos, or at least he used to be. And the most notable of all, Starlight Glimmer, Twilight's student. Chrysalis suspected her to be the leader of the group. She used Thorax as a distraction to get Chrysalis's attention when he was disguised as her. But her plan failed miserably with her attempt to destroy the throne with a tiny plain rock. She even laughed at the fact that she thought that something that small would destroy a big throne like hers. Chrysalis had to admit that she did feel disappointed that Discord was part of that stupid rescue mission. The Lord of Chaos was a creature like no other. And she will admit that she did admire him. But the admiration died away when she heard that friendship corrupted him seemingly for good. However, she didn't believe the news until she saw it with her own eyes, which she did. She levitated Thorax off the ground, while making a remark at the lilac pony that was being blocked by her guards. "Just as soon as I drain every last ounce of love from him and show my subjects what a real leader is!" Chrysalis gave Starlight a snarky look. She enjoyed the fact that not only will she have payback on Throax, but she also enjoyed the feeling of Starlight's desperate gaze fixed on her. She really was useless in this situation, thanks to the ancient dark stone that surronded the hive. She whipped her head to face Thorax and she opened her mouth to suck the love out of him. A pink beam was starting to come out of Thorax. Inside, Chrysalis was thrilled to finally have a decent meal. And one from a traitor is even better! "I can feel the love inside me slipping away...!" Thorax said, his voice was strained from pain and exhaustion. "I can't hold onto it much longer...!" Chrysalis darted her eyes to see her other, loyal changelings. Half of them were cheering for Chrysalis, while others stared at the scene with uncomfortable expressions. Take a good look. This is what happens when you betray your hive, and most importantly, how you betray me! Chrysalis thought bitterly. She did have her suspicions that the other changelings would soon follow a similar path as Thorax, although she didn't really see any proof or signs of them wanting to leave, but she was aware of it just in case. Now after seeing this moment, they won't even think about leaving her. Or if they did, they wouldn't even think about returning back. "Then don't!" Chrysalis heard Starlight's protest in the background. Didn't she know that it was game over for them? "Sharing love is what made you different to begin with! You should share yours with Chrysalis! Give her all of it!" If it weren't for the fact that she was sucking the love out of Thorax, she would've been laughing a bit harder than usual. Was she really that pitiful that there was a way that Thorax would "give" love to her? Wouldn't that make her more stronger? Shows that in times of crisis, ponies are very dumb. But then Thorax immediately gave in, and forcefully gave the love he had inside to Chrysalis. But it was stronger than she would even suspect. It was that the pink beam suddenly turned into giant soundwaves that was strong enough to knock back Chrysalis and slam her to her throne. She lifted up her head, and gazed at Thorax in fear, an emotion that she thought she would never feel for a long time. Especially if its about Thorax. Her suspicions were immediately on Starlight. She must have planned this this whole time. But she saw that even she was stunned by Thorax's transformation, and she could tell that she was not faking it. Afterwards, Thorax was now inside a cocoon. The changelings that were guarding Starlight were too amazed by the sight that they eventually let her go. Chrysalis was so stunned by the sight that she didn't even stop her. The pony walked up to the crystal, and when she lightly touched it with her hoof, the cocoon began to crack, and a bright light was shown. After being blinded for a moment, Chrysalis rubbed her eyes and saw Thorax taking an entirely new form, with green skin and having big purple horns. Everyone looked at him in awe. What kind of dark magic is this? Chrysalis thought, still too stunned to speak. Starlight turned to face the rest of the Changelings. "This is what happens when you give love freely instead of taking it!" After a few moments of hesitation, the changelings finally gave in and started to beam out the same pink light like what Thorax did. Then one by one, every changeling did the same thing. Chrysalis couldn't believe that this was happening in front of her own eyes. Was this even real? She heard rumbling beneath her hooves. Her throne was starting to crack, but strangely, the cracks were pink. She still remained where she was, her hooves were glued to the ground. Afterwards, a big explosion erupted in the throne room, causing Chrysalis to knock to the ground, with rocks tumbling onto her. Chrysalis opened her eyes. She was still on the floor, but the rocks were still on top of her body. She could hear friendly murmuring from where she was. Although it was hard to hear due to the rocks. Chrysalis couldn't believe it. Being defeated by love? How stupid can that possibly get? Wanting to make her presence known, Chrysalis tried her best to get up, and when she did, her horn glowed a green colored aura, and when the rocks were off of her body, she let out a hiss to the ponies that she assumed was in that direction. But her horn stopped glowing, and her expression changed when she saw The Mane 6, The Royal Sisters, Cadence, Shining Armor, Flurry Heart, the rest of Starlight's group, all stared at her with narrowed eyes. Their horns started glowing. While the rest of her former followers just gave her angry looks. To her surprise, the only one who didn't look angry was Starlight. Chrysalis was confused. Was she showing pity for her? Why? Chrysalis stared at the ground, not knowing what to do. She usually has a plan when it comes to certain situations, but this is of of those rare moments where she was lost. She was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice Starlight calmly walk up to her. She just stared at her, too exhausted to hiss furthermore. "When Twilight and her friends defeated me," Starlight said after looking at the changeling for a brief moment. "I chose to run away and seek revenge. You don't have to!" Chrysalis still had the same expression, but doubt rose in her. There was no way that she knew the feeling of wanting revenge, or at least to Chrysalis's standards. "You can be the leader your subjects deserve." Starlight finished her speech, but then placed a hoof out to Chrysalis. She stared at her hoof for a brief moment. Her soft expression quickly turned to anger and shoved her hoof away "Do you expect me to lead traitors?" Starlight still remained calm. "No, but you have a chance to improve your life." "My life doesn't need improving." Chrysalis spat. "Believe me, it does." Chrysalis could see a tiny bit of annoyance in Starlight's eyes. "Look, whatever you chose to do next is all up to you. If you don't want to be ruler, then Thorax will be the new leader of the hive." She pointed at Thorax, who nodded in agreement. "But don't throw away your life away for revenge. Just trust me when I tell you that." Chrysalis rolled her eyes. "And what do you expect me to do next?" "Well, you don't want to starve, do you?" Chrysalis was a little startled by Starlight's question. "No..?" "If you don't want to be leader, and unless you want to starve, you can always go on a revenge mission. But there is another option." "What's that?" "Friendship." Starlight sighed. "FRIENDSHIP?" Chrysalis finally hissed. "I'd rather starve." But Starlight simply just shrugged. "If you want. Its your choice whether you want too or not, but I strongly suggest you take my advice." "She does make a good point." A new voice came in. Celestia stood over Chrysalis, with Cadence, Shining Armor, and most of the changelings surrounded her. "But if you do choose to escape, me, Cadence, and Shining Armor will put you in the dungeons of Canterlot if you even think about escaping." While Chrysalis wouldn't care about the dungeon either, she would still miss the freedom and the nature that was around her. She would hate to be locked up in a prison cell for the rest of her life. "So? What's it going to be?" Shining Armor asked her, bitterness was edged into his tone. Chrysalis looked around. She really was surrounded by the ponies and of course, the traitors. Starlight looked a little hesitant, as if this was a little bit too much. You and me both. But seeing that she has no other options, she had no choice. "FINE!" Chrysalis shouted. "I'll do this stupid friendship thing." "Excellent!" Celestia looked surprised, but had a pleased expression. "I'll talk to Twilight about what she would do with you." "Why her?" "Because, if she agrees, then you could be her second pupil." Celestia told her. "Oh, and if you're thinking about trying to escape..." She teleported a round chain to her and placed it on Chrysalis's horn. "What's this?" "Its a magic blocker. So you can't use your magic to escape." "Oh come on!" Chrysalis groaned. She watched as Celestia discussed with Twilight far away from her, and soon Twilight went to the Mane 5 and Starlight. They all nodded in agreement. Soon Twilight and Starlight walked up to the changeling. "We have decided that you'll be under my guide and teach you about friendship. Under close watch, that is." Twilight informed her. Great, being taught by my greatest enemies. Chrysalis thought with a groan. As if my defeat wouldn't be this humiliating! The thought of being in a dungeon suddenly sounded good to her. AdjustingThe Mane 7 watched Chrysalis like a hawk when they took Chrysalis to Twilight's castle to where she will be staying temporarily. She felt uncomfortable when seven ponies were giving her the death glare the whole time. She wished that she could turn into a fly and hide in the grass, but unfortunately, she was forced to have the magic blocker until she was trusted enough without it. Which will take 100 moons. "You know that I don't have my magic, right?" Chrysalis said in a bored tone. "Its good to keep an eye on ya, just in case." Applejack responded. "In case of what? That I would outrun seven ponies? Ones that are able to use magic on me if I ran off? Oh please. All of you are too superstitious." "Don't expect us to trust you right away. You are one of our biggest enemies so far." Rarity said the last words awkwardly. "And I was looking forward to that. The desire for revenge, the anticipation of karma. Its thrilling!" Chrysalis sighed. "But now I'm forced to be taught friendship." "Revenge can be pretty fun." Starlight said in a lowered tone, which it seems that Chrysalis was the only one who heard that. As they approached the castle doors, Chrysalis looked at it in disgust. It was too... colorful, and had too many bright rocks. It was no surprise that Twilight and Starlight lived here. They had poor taste when it comes to castle colors. "Are you sure you two will be ok with her?" Fluttershy kept glancing at Chrysalis in fear. Chrysalis just smirked. At least somepony was afraid of her still. "We'll be fine." Twilight reassured her. "I highly doubt that she will pull any tricks on us since she has her magic disabled." All of them looked at her with doubtful looks. "She is unpredictable." Rainbow Dash warned her. "Just keep your guard on." "Oh, we will." Twilight responded, while Starlight just nodded determinedly. "Well, good luck darlings!" Rarity said, and with a fierce look at Chrysalis, she walked away. Soon, the rest of Mane 5 did the same thing. Finally, now its just these two. Chrysalis thought, sighing in relief. As they walked into the castle, Chrysalis cringed even more. Why was it so purple? And she's going to stay here? Might as well kill my eyes while you're at it. "Starlight and Chrysalis." Twilight walked in front of the two. Chrysalis and Starlight both sat next to each other, but they were keeping their distance. Chrysalis despised being calmly sat next to pony who ruined her life, and Starlight just looked at her nervously. "So, I know that you two are bitter enemies and thus have no spark of friendship between you two." Twilight began. "You think?" Chrysalis and Starlight both said sarcastically. Twilight raised a hoof to silence them. "Which is why I decided that Starlight," Twilight looked at the mare. "You'll be sharing a room with Chrysalis." "WHAT?!" They both screamed in disbelief. She cannot be serious. "I refuse to sleep with her!" Chrysalis pointed accusingly at Starlight. "Now you're raising the bar way too much. I know I said that I will help you with Chrysalis, but you never told me that I'll be roommates with her! Its bad enough sitting next to her!" Starlight said angrily to Twilight. "I knew that you two would despise this, which is understandable. But I feel that in order for you two to get along, you need to share a room together, and I don't know, vent out feelings or something." They both looked at her, dumbfounded. Twilight started sweating nervously. "Well, don't just stand around! Go to your room and adjust!" But Chrysalis didn't move. "I'm not moving a single inch." She sat down defiantly. Annoyed, Twilight cast a spell and teleported Chrysalis and Starlight to her bedroom. "No!" Starlight immediately grabbed the kites with her magic and teleported them somewhere else. Chrysalis looked at her with confusion and amusement. "You like kites?" Starlight looked at her awkwardly. "What? No. Of course not." Chrysalis rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I'm out of here." She grabbed the door knob with her hoof, but it wouldn't move. "You have got to be kidding me." "What?" "She locked us in here." Chrysalis kept banging her head on the door. "Well, she locked you in here. I can just teleport out if I please." Starlight said, amusement caked her tone. "Then why don't you?" Chrysalis snarled. "To make sure that you don't destroy my stuff." Darn it, that was exactly what I was going to do. she thought sadly. Destroying your enemy's things were fun. But now she's not allowed to have fun. This was going to be a long day. Hours had passed and Twilight opened Starlight's door to check in on the two. Chrysalis made a nest at the upper left corner of the ceiling, drawing posters that said "I hate Starlight" and quietly watched the pony with an intense glare, while Starlight, with the rest of her things crammed in a corner, just laid on her bed with an annoyed look on her face. She lifted her head to stare at Twilight with narrowed eyes. "You're lucky that I'm reformed, you know." Twilight looked startled. "What do you mean?" "You putting me and Chrysalis in the same room? In my room? My evil self would've just stripped your cutie mark and ran off with it to the ends of Equestria by now." "Please do!" Chrysalis cheered from her nest. She might have been joking, sadly, but it would be very entertaining to watch. Although she still doubts that she is able to do that anyway. There were reminders that Starlight had been evil in the past, but she never took it seriously. She just thought they made that up to make her feel better. "Look, I'm sorry that I put you in this situation, but in order for her to reform, she has to put aside her hatred of you. And I felt that the best way to do that is to make you guys roommates." Twilight said to both of them. They just glared at her. "Anyways, me and Spike are about to have dinner." Twilight beckoned her head to the castle doors, with the dinner hall being nearby. "You can come if you want, but Chrysalis is coming." "I'd rather not eat slop." Chrysalis turned her body away from the others. "Well, you don't have a choice." Twilight's horn glowed and with a flash, she and Twilight disappeared. Alone, Starlight sighed in annoyance as she looked at the mess that Chrysalis made in her room. Chrysalis suddenly appeared from Twilight's teleportation spell. She landed on a chair, which she sat on. She looked at the table. It was just her and Twilight alone. "I thought you said the pipsqueak would be joining us." Chrysalis looked around for the dragon. "Did I scare him off?" "He's bringing in the food." An unamused Twilight replied. Spike appeared from the other room with a tray with food. Twilight looked at it in hunger while Chrysalis looked at it blankly. The food were fruit cups, apples and some bananas, and even had cucumber sandwiches. Chrysalis looked in disgust when she saw the pony and the dragon eat the food. "You guys eat this stuff?" "Yeah, and its pretty good!" Spike grabbed an apple from his hand and gave it to Chrysalis. She immediately slapped it away. "Don't give me any of that pony food!" She snarled. "Chrysalis, if you are going to live with us, you have to eat like us." Twilight said as she ate a cucumber sandwich. "Seriously, you are missing out." "I'm sorry, Princess Twilight," she said her name bitterly. "but this is not something a changeling would eat." "Well, what do you eat?" Spike asked. "For starters, love." Chrysalis opened her mouth to suck the love out of Spike, but to no avail. She was confused. Why wasn't she getting love? She looked at Twilight, who pointed a hoof at her own horn. She knew what she meant. "Oh come on! I can't suck love either? I should've just ditched and made a run for it when I had the chance." "There has to be something else that you like to eat." Spike suggested. Chrysalis pondered for a moment. "Well, we do like eating bugs." "What kind of bugs?" Twilight asked, although Chrysalis saw that she was a little bit grossed out. "Hm, the usual, centipedes, spiders, and maybe ladybugs." Chrysalis said, thinking. "Did you say LADYBUGS?" Twilight flapped her wings in delight. Before Chrysalis could respond, Twilight teleported somewhere. Just then she heard the voices of Twilight and Starlight. And since they were not too far away, Chrysalis guessed that she teleported to Starlight's room. Chrysalis could make out the muffled conversation. "Starlight! We're going ladybug hunting!" "Why?" Chrysalis heard confusion in Starlight's voice. "Because we're going to give Chrysalis a buffet of them!" "Twilight what are you-" She heard a flash of magic, and she no longer heard voices. Chrysalis looked at the wall, trying to process what's going on. "Yeah, sorry about that." Spike said after a moment of silence. "She really hates ladybugs, and when she heard that you eat them, she went crazy." "I know. I was there." she muttered. It had been a few hours since the dinner. Twilight and Starlight teleported back to the castle, with a basket filled with ladybugs. Which Starlight carried over since Twilight was too scared to levitate them for some reason. After her belly was full, she went to her and Starlight's room. She looked at her wall, annoyed that she saw that the "I hate Starlight" posters that she creatively made had been torn down. It's ok, I'll make more. Then later, Starlight came into the bedroom. "I'm going to sleep." Starlight announced to the changeling. "And I swear, you better not be thinking about sucking the love out of me in my sleep." "Just found out that I can't do that." Chrysalis said as she pointed at her horn. "Good." Starlight went under her blanket, and turned off the light and closed her eyes. "I can just stare at you all day if you like." Chrysalis towered over Starlight with a wide grin. With her magic, she forcefully placed Chrysalis into her nest, and cast a spell on her so she would be unable to move her body. "Hey! I'm stuck!" Chrysalis called out. "And you'll stay there until tomorrow." Starlight responded back. Chrysalis just muttered hate comments until she drifted off to sleep. She dreaded of what tomorrow would be like if every day was going to be a similar repeat of this one. Needed SpaceAuthor's Note This one is one of the unique chapters in this story. Since this time its not taking place in Chrysalis's POV, but instead it focuses on Twilight instead! She's taking baby steps Needed Space Twilight and Spike were both eating haycakes together, while Chrysalis and Starlight, both with tired expressions, ate their meal while staring at each other with narrow gazes, as if daring the other to turn away. "So, how did the both of you sleep?" Spike asked, with a nervous laugh at the end. "Oh, it was swell." Starlight replied, still not taking her eyes off Chrysalis. "Until somecreature decided to make loud bug noises at night. Very loud bug noises." "You glued me to my nest!" Chrysalis defended herself. "I had to annoy you somehow." Starlight switched her narrowed gaze onto Twilight, giving her the death stare. Twilight nervously sweated. "Erm, well, look at that!" She showed her empty plate. "I can't believe that I ate them all! I must be so hungry today! I shall... erm... get more food since I am still very hungry." She trotted to the kitchen, and waved her tail at Spike, which he knew what it meant and followed her inside. They left behind a tired and angry duo, who still kept staring at each other. Twilight peeked behind the wall to stare at the two. "Spike, did I do a bad thing?" "What do you mean?" Spike asked. "Well, I think Starlight hates me now since I put her and Chrysalis in the same room. And being hated by Starlight is not something I want to feel. Again." Spike nodded, knowing what she meant. "Even so, its probably not as bad as last time. And besides, she doesn't hate you, Twilight. She was probably just tired and probably stayed up all night listening to Chrysalis's shenanigans." "I guess." Twilight simply shrugged. "But the point is that, maybe I made a mistake." "What mistake? Reforming Chrysalis?" "No, we are still doing that." Twilight rolled her eyes, as if annoyed that Spike suggested that. "The mistake of putting them in the same room. Now Starlight won't forgive me because I am doing this to her." "I mean..." Spike looked at the side nervously. "That is kinda of messed up for you to do that. Since she did take away her hive and made her followers turn against her. So its no surprise that Chrysalis is doing this to her." "I know." Twilight sighed. "And for that matter," Spike continued. "why did you put Chrysalis and Starlight in the same room in the first place? And don't give me the 'because they need to rekindle' excuse. I know thats not the entire reason." "You're sharp." Twilight grinned a little bit. She sighed once more. "I guess it was an act of revenge." "Revenge?" Spike was taken aback. "On Starlight? What did she do to you? You still haven't forgiven her for her dark past? Or the time that she didn't come to the dinner for Trixie? OR the time that she brainwashed your friends?" It was Twilight's turn to be taken aback. "What? No! It was not on Starlight, but rather on Chrysalis instead." "Why?" He asked. "Spike, you were there when Chrysalis did her crimes. Firstly, she was disguised as my foalsitter, and fooled you, our friends, and my brother! And she almost destroyed Canterlot! Then the months go by and decided to capture the rest of us and make us sleepy prisoners in her own hive! Thankfully, Starlight arrived from the Sunset Festival early and rescued us all with the others." She stopped to look at Chrysalis again. "I guess that makes sense." Spike said with a little hesitation. "But you forgave Starlight easily, yet her actions were almost as bad as hers." Twilight nodded. "Fair point, but the difference between the two is that Starlight was misguided. After Sunburst got his cutie mark and left her behind, Starlight immediately assumed that cutie marks were a key to ruining a friendship. Plus she didn't know what she was doing and was blinded by rage. As for Chrysalis, she knew exactly what she was doing, and shown no signs of wanting to change. And she is happy when it comes to ruining lives. Do you kind of see the picture?" After thinking about it, Spike shrugged. "Good points, but even so," Spike placed a claw on her shoulder. "You shouldn't have dragged Starlight along in this." "I know." Twilight sighed. "I know." Moments later, Twilight and Spike finally arrived from the kitchen with more haycakes, although Twilight didn't feel hungry anymore. "What took you so long?" Starlight asked the two. Twilight was relived that most of Starlight's hostility went away. "Me and Spike have been talking." Twilight addressed the two. "About me? Are you finally going to let me go?" Chrysalis flapped her transparent bug wings. "No." Twilight sternly said. "But rather, something else." "That is?" Chrysalis and Starlight both said, their gazes now fixed on her. "I've been thinking, and Spike was here to guide and help me out. Starlight," Twilight looked at the mare. "Yes?" Twilight sighed. "You and Chrysalis will not be roommates anymore." At the moment she said those words, Chrysalis slammed her hooves at the table excitedly. "Yes! Thank you, Twilight!" she screamed in utter glee, which was a thing Twilight would never thought she would hear. But Starlight didn't seem to share the same excitement. "What changed your mind?" "I just felt like that I put you in a unfair position." She explained. "And I should've have forced you guys to be roommates. I just want to say. I'm sorry." They both looked at her with stunned faces, with Chrysalis being the biggest. "Wait. You are apologizing... to me? Wow! I never thought I would hear that in a long time." "Yeah, well, don't get used to it." Twilight silenced her with her hoof. "And you will be doing a similar thing tomorrow." The happiness in Chrysalis died away. "What do you mean by that?" she snarled threateningly. But Twilight was unnerved. "You'll find out tomorrow!" she said to the changeling, then she turned to Starlight. "You can grab all of your belongings and you can move into one of the guest bedrooms that are located near my room." "Will do." Starlight's horn glowed. "But!" Twilight said quickly before Starlight was about to teleport. "I really do want you guys to get over your hatred with each other. While you won't be roommates anymore, I still expect you guys to clear up the smoke." Starlight and Chrysalis both looked at each other, with not angry expressions this time, but with bored looks. "Ok." They both said at the same time. "But that will come in a long while." Chrysalis still snarled at Starlight. "I still don't forgive you for taking away my hive." But she just shrugged. "You're not exactly an angel yourself." Leaving the two alone, Twilight walked away as she washed the plate with water. Spike appeared right behind her with his plate. "I'm proud of you Twilight." He said. She was shocked. "Why?" "Because you averted the problem before it gotten worse." Spike explained. "If you didn't, then one of them would hurt each other if they push their buttons a little too much. "I doubt Starlight would hurt Chrysalis." Twilight reassured him, although there was a tiny hint of doubt. "Well, hopefully when they are not forced to be roomies, then one day they will get somewhat close and not fight anymore." Spike got up on a stool and washed his plate next to Twilight. "Yeah." Twilight grinned. "Me too."

"Me too."
