In the far future, the people of Terra are fighting a war that they cannot win against a foe they cannot overcome. With every passing day, the light of hope grows dimmer, and one day soon it will be extinguished forever along with the last of life on the planet.

But even as a flickering ember, hope still yet burns. Even now, the noble warriors of the Solar Guard hold the line against the tide as the indomitable Lunar Guard rage against the darkness. When an ancient portal to another world is rediscovered, the decision is unanimous and immediate: Send a team of four volunteers through the opening and find a way to end the war, whatever that may be, whatever the cost.

No one could have expected the portal would lead to a place of peace and harmony. No one could have expected the magical land of Equestria. Least of all, no one could have expected that Sunset Shimmer would be the lynchpin in saving both worlds. Especially not her.
