//-------------------------------------------------------// Memory -by Sunnysunny77- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Grandfather's Clock //-------------------------------------------------------// Grandfather's Clock Twilight Sparkle was well known by everypony in the little village of Ponyville; for the heroic acts she had done with her friends, and her passion for friendship. Yet, she had declined the offer of being Princess of Equestria still. She had seemed unwilling to live in a palace, she didn't want immortality. So Princess Celestia heeded her pleas, and took on the duty as Princess for another millenia. Twilight violet eyes lit up from the light blue sky shimmering outside the window she had so comfortably slept by. Yes, this treehouse was just right. It looked so much like her old treehouse that Tirek had obliterated all those years ago. It was exactly what she needed. Twenty years really did slip by for the mare. Spike had gone off to assist Rarity for her fashion plans in Manehattan. Pinkie Pie was now the head baker of a company she had built wonderfully all by herself. Fluttershys shelter was going smoothly. Sweet Apple Acres was still up and running. Rainbow Dash was now the most famous Wonderbolt in the world. Honestly, she did not expect for it to all come by so fast. It almost felt.. sad? Happy? Bittersweet-- no melancholic, that was the word. Yes, that was right. How had she forgotten? She hadn't read so much books in so long that her old mind was starting to forget even simple words. Twilight stepped away from the window, and trotted down with a soft smile on her slightly wrinkly face. Lines of gray were entering her hair, wrinkles formed onto parts of her face. Truly, she was stepping closer to being put in a nursing home. But that would not happen yet. She was still in her 40s, she couldn't be put in a nursing home just yet. Nopony was going to tell her what to do, or take care of her. She didn't need care, she was a strong, prosperous mare who was capable of caring for herself. Ticking sounded from the corner of the room. Twilight turned her head to the direction of the sound. Ah, yes-- the grandfather clock she had installed in a few days ago. Truly magnificent, elegant in its stature. A dark, royal brown enchanted it's surface. She never thought a clock could seem so bright before. Ah-- she had almost forgotten, that interview she had needed to do. Ponies still wanted to talk to her even after all the years. She needed to get ready, so she could return home, and rest silently. Peacefully. She trotted to the counter, and magic swirled around her horn. A cup gravitated towards her, and then a bottle of what seemed to be tea. Pouring it inside, she set the bottle down after she finished, and took a nice sip. Warmth swirled it's way inside her throat. Ah, even the simple things made her feel young again. Lightly making the cup follow her as she then trotted into the bedroom, she set it down on the desk and went through her closet. A tie? Well, it would make her look nice. A bun for her mane? No, she didn't want to seem too old. Fixing up the tie around her neck, she gravitated a pair of glasses towards her, and placed them on her face. No, she didn't need them, it just made her look aesthetically pleasing. She gravitated the cup behind her again, and went inside the main room. There was something else she needed to do.. but what? Knock knock! A sound echoed from the wooden door, making her jump a little. A few tea droplets spilled out from the cup. "Shit.." She muttered in frustration at her little accident, she floated a napkin towards the floor, and wi-- Knock knock! "Okay, I'm coming!" She groaned loudly, and furrowed her eyebrows as she quickly paced towards the door. She opened it with her hoof, and light gently emitted from the creak in the door. It slowly opened, and Twilight made a slightly surprised expression. "Fluttershy..?" It was an old friend of hers, Fluttershy. But why had she come here? She didn't seem to show any expression. Fluttershy softly smiled at her face. "Twilight, um, hi.. can I come in?" Gently asked Fluttershy, focusing her gaze to the floor in an awkward fashion. Twilight looked around, unsure of what to say. What had Fluttershy been doing here? "Uh.. sure, come in." Twilight backed up, and Fluttershy entered gently. Fluttershy smiled, "Wow.. it looks just the same as I remember. I wish Tirek didn't destroy it back then.." Twilight awkwardly grinned, "Uh.. yeah, heheh. It's, uh.. good that I got it back though." Silence layed still in the air, as Fluttershy didn't move a muscle. To fill the silence, Twilight began; "Um.. so, why are you here? I-- I mean, not that it's a problem-- I just wasn't expecting you to be here, since we haven't spoken in so long and--" "I know, I know. Um.. I came to ask about.. what I had heard about you today." Fluttershy replied almost in an instant, she turned around to face Twilight. But still faced down, as not to make any eye contact with her. Twilight raised a brow at this. Somepony had been speaking of her today? "You.. heard something about me?.." Twilight repeated, to make sure she got that right. "Oh, um.. you must have not heard.. um.. a mare told me today that you--" She(Fluttershy) hesitated, and swallowed her spit. "--you had apparently gotten angry with her.." "Angry?" Twilight looked in disbelief, "I-- I don't think I got angry at anypony today." "She, um.. also said.. you called her.." Fluttershy hesitated again, "a.. a little bitch.." Fluttershy slightly cringed when she said that, but Twilight wasn't as calm as she seemed. Twilights face was absurd with shock, "Wha-- what?! No! I didn't call anypony that! I dont-- I don't even remember somepony entering today!" "I believe you, I believe you.. but.. she seemed really genuine about it. Are you sure you didn't do anything to make anypony upset today?" Asked Fluttershy politely, only making Twilight shake her head in a furious way of saying 'no'. "No, I didn't even see anypony besides you today-- I woke up half an hour ago! At least.. I think I did." Twilight looked to her clock. 9:30. She most likely woke up around 8:30, or at least she thought she did anyway. "I believe you.. just.. maybe make sure you don't accidentally upset anypony today. I wanted to make sure you were doing okay too.." Fluttershys face lit up, "oh.. and.. do you want to, um.. perhaps do a little favor for me today?" Twilight seemed puzzled, at how rather quickly Fluttershy was speaking, for a mare so quiet and shy-- she seemed rather quick to speak. "Uhh.. sure? As long as it doesn't take too long--" "Oh-- great!.. Um.. do you wanna come along with me then?" Cut off Fluttershy, not leaving Twilight a chance to speak. Twilight froze. Was her valuable time really worth the trouble of being partially late?.. No, this was her old friend, the least she could do was do a favor. "Uh.. sure.." Twilight took another sip of her tea, and sighed. "Alright, uh.. just follow me, then." Fluttershy began to softly walk to the door, leaving it open a crack for Twilight. As Twilight stepped to it, she did wonder.. what was that thing she was forgetting? Ah, no matter. It wasn't important. When she got back home today, she could silently rest. Peacefully. Huh? Did she already say that before? Oh well, she could silently rest, peacefully, when she returned from her little expedition with Fluttershy. Author's Note Kinda excited to write this lmao //-------------------------------------------------------// The Old Shelter //-------------------------------------------------------// The Old Shelter Twilight followed behind Fluttershy as they both went out endlessly into the world, into the old village of Ponyville. Many ponies chattered with one another, happy and in peace. They could all rest from the troubles that were brought forth years ago, silently. Peacefully. Did she already say that? Oh well. Fields of pastel green greeted her violet eyes of amethyst, and she smiled down at it gently. She didn't know why, but as pastel as it was in the sun, it seemed so much darker. Oh well, everything was fine. She looked in the corner of her eye, and saw a mare give her a scowling look. The mare whispered to a stallion, and the stallion in turn, also scowled at her with grave anger. Was that the mare? What mare? Oh well, everything was fine. Morning skies of light blue stared down at her, and she smiled up at it; everything was fine. There was no need to feel frustrated over a mare or stallion staring at her funny, or was there? Oh, no matter. She was fine. They would learn to rest too, silently. Peacefully. Fluttershy then randomly came to a stop, in front of a restaurant she didn't remember ever seeing around before. She didn't think she saw it yesterday either. So why was it there? Who made it? It was coated with a beautiful, royal brown in the shimmering sunlight of the beautiful sun that Celestia had always brought forth above into the skies. Regal, fit for a princess, fit for any royal of any sort. But she did want to know why Fluttershy had brought her here. "Uh.. Flutters--" "Well, we're finally here, you ready to head in?" Fluttershy didn't even let her finish. How ungrateful of her. Ungrateful? Where did that come from? No, she was--.. what was Twilight going to say? Oh, no matter, everything was fine! "What-- what do you mean, weren't we going to head to the shelter?" Asked Twilight, curious eyes of infinite galaxies glistening. Fluttershy tilted her head, her eyes looked so confused; but why would she be confused? She needed to go to the shelter. Thats right. Shelter. "W-- What shelter, Twilight?" Twilight tilted her head back at her, "Huh? What do you mean? Didn't you say we were going to the shelte--" "No, I asked if you wanted to go to a restaurant with me, and you said yes." Answered Fluttershy rather fastly, not even letting her finish. How selfish of her. Selfish? Where did that come from? Oh well, no ma.. did she already say that before? Oh well, no matter. "..N.. No I didnt, you asked for me to come help you out at the shelter." Replied Twilight. "Twilight, um.. would you please stop repeating things? It's becoming kind of.. troubling." Suddenly said Fluttershy, turning away her gaze from Fluttershy. "Re.. Repeating things? I haven't been--" "Twilight, please don't mess with me, you've been going on and on about this restaurant for hours now." Cut off Fluttershy again, seeming a little stern this time. Twilight felt confused, what did she mean? "I'm not messing with you, Fluttershy?.. I don't know what you mean, i.. I hardly ever heard you even speaking about this restaurant." Twilight looked down at the ground, the grass looked brighter now, the sky seemed a little darker now too. "Twilight, I've been wanting to go here for ages now! Please don't run off now." Twilight eyes contorted into frustration at her friends different uses of different excuses for coming to this.. restaurant. How could she be so cruel! Tormenting her own friend with her mess of a personality, such a stubborn mare! Stubbo-- "Fl-- Fluttershy, your not making any sense! You asked me to come to the shelter with you. I still have that interview--" "What interview, Twi?" The light purple mare couldn't take Fluttershys constant changing of words anymore, she groaned harshly, loudly enough so that anypony nearby could hear. She earned a few glares from random strangers. "Oh great, now your making everypony stare at us! Why are you being like thi--" "Huh? I didn't say anything." Twilight's eye twitched, and before she could even carry out any words, she began to trot away from her friend. Her friend was irritating her today. Her friend was being annoying today. Why? Usually she was never this bad. Bad? What was Twilight talking about? She wasn't ever bad. "Twi-- Twilight, where are you going?!" "Away from you, you mad mare! Your excuses are driving me crazy." "What excuses?! Twilight, come back! I can't eat without you!" Twilight didn't listen, and began to dart off to her treehouse, she just needed peace and quiet. Peaceful rest. Peaceful rest. Her vision began to haze, her heart was thumping at an alarming rate, beads of sweat wetly dripped down her coat from the sun's accumulation of heat. She didn't care, she needed peaceful rest. Silence. Away from that mad mare. Ponies glared at her, whispers from them didn't cease her hearing as far as she could tell. They were talking about her. Maybe they wanted her treehouse! Yeah, maybe thats why everypony was being so damn annoying today. She stopped harshly, dust from under her hooves rising into the air. Finally.. home?.. Home wasn't there. Twilight started to pant, desperately letting out the anxieties that clinged to her mind. And the breathing then slowly emerged into whimpering. The whispers were gone, the glares she felt on herself were gone. But the tears weren't. As a prolonged sob came out of her mouth, she could hear a pony in the distance coming up to her. A hoove wrapped around her, and immediately, the shy-- no, soft, sweet voice caressed her ears with calming words. "Twi, Twi! Whats the matter?.." "*hic*.. agh.. ho.. wh.. hous.. house gone.. ponies starin.. staring at me.." Twilight managed to weakly let out those words, as the hoove wrapped around her began to slowly rub her back. "Your house is gone?.." "Mhm.." "Its okay.. why don't we head back in, alright? I made you some cake, your favorite!" "To.. Tonight?" Twilight looked up at the sky. What was a sky of light blue no longer existed. White specks of light greeted her above, and as did bright purple. The moon greeted her too. She didn't know why, but she felt as if the moon smiled at her for a moment. "Wha.. what time.. *hic*.. is it? My grandfathers clock.. I don.. *hic* I don't have it, what--" "Clock?.. Twilight, what grandfather's clock?" Author's Note Damn, Twilight going through it.
