Leon K. Derrickson isn't what you'd usually call a 'Hero', of sorts. Leon is a slightly anti-social guy with a job that pays poorly, but just enough so he can scrape by. He doesn't watch a lot of TV, mainly because he just doesn't have the time. For him, life has always been about working and working till the day is done. That kind of life, it wasn't what he wanted, but he was too used to it by the time he wanted to make a change.

He was trapped. Trapped in monotonous work and lacking in appreciation of his life.

One night, he collapses in bed, more exhausted than usual after a long day of work. Then, the moment he wakes up, he's not in his home anymore. He wakes up in the middle of a small wooded area, filled to the brim with numerous birch trees. He notices that he has practically nothing with him, other than the clothes on his back, a dream journal, a pencil, and a strange watch that was fastened onto his wrist.

Leon contemplates. Nothing will ever be the same after this, will it?

"Leon's Emergency Log; No. #1:

'Where in god's name am I' I ask myself. I'll continue to keep asking this question for a while, because I haven't a clue on where I am, how I got here, why I'm here, or what's going on. I have work in a couple hours, but I don't think I'm gonna make it... I just wish this weird watch on my wrist had some kind of way to explain everything to me right now... I'm alone, worried, and all I have right now is the clothes on my back, an odd watch that doesn't seem to tell time, a pencil and a journal.

... I'm going to die out here, aren't I?"

Leon looked out to the world, seeing the wide open plains as he looked down at the strange device on his wrist, and sighed.

He sat down and began to contemplate.
