It's only fair chapter 1

Shining walked in the door, he tried to hide his glum expression as he greeted his wife behind a fake smile, but Cadence knew him better than that. The truth she shared with him tore him up inside and left him a shell of a man. Cadence had never felt so guilty in all her life. She hated herself for doing this to him. Her mind played through that horrible night again.

Flurry Heart had gone to spend the night with Shining's parents so they could have a date night, which consisted of a movie, then a romantic dinner at their favorite restaurant, ending with a quiet evening at home (or maybe not *wink*). After the movie and dinner, Shining brought out Cadence's favorite wine to help her relax a bit. Being the headmistress of a prestigious prep school took its toll on her. They had managed to work through two bottles of wine (mostly Cadence). Cadence had felt as light and carefree as if she were made of air. Maybe too light and too carefree. She and Shining started talking about their high school days at Crystal Prep. Shining admitted that he and his DnD buddies were the ones who put a toad in Ms. Clench's desk and soaked her chair with chocolate pudding after she disbanded their club because it wasn't 'academically encouraging'. There were several other things Shining had never told Cadence, like that time he accidentally broke a window in the west wing and didn't tell anyone, or the time he had to use the women's restroom(if he didn't he was going to piss his pants). It wasn't until he told Cadence who his first crush and first kiss was that Cadence felt free to tell something to Shining that she would later grow to regret.

"Do you remember a guy by the name of Fireball?" Cadence giggled as the name escaped her lips.

"Yeah! I remember that guy! Fastest guy on our football team! No one could catch him!" Shining seemed to get excited at hearing the name which only prompted Cadence to continue with her story.

"Yeah, well, that wasn't the only thing he was fast at" Cadence giggled. "He was actually my first."

"Your first kiss?" Shining thought it was a little late in the game to wait till high school to have your first kiss, but Cadence might have been a pure and innocent girl in her younger years.

Cadence giggled again, almost spilling her glass of wine. "No, silly. He was my 'first'. You know? I gave him my V-card?"

Cadence couldn't tell, but that staminate had begun to somber Shining up as if a cannonball had just dropped into the pit of his stomach, eyes growing wide as he stared at his wife who seemed so relaxed and calm about telling him this sensitive information.

"Yeah. If I didn't check for my hymen later, I would have never known he had even done it. It was over in seconds and I barely felt anything" Cadence went on, taking another sip. "Then there was Thundercloud. Now HE knew how to treat a lady. He may not have known what to do, but he was a good listener and took his time. Boy! We did some wild things when we dated..."

Cadence was so lost in her happy trip down memory lane that she didn't pay attention to the ever-grim expression growing on Shining's face as the blood drained from it. The effect of the alcohol quickly faded for him as Cadence went through all the guys she had had sexual experiences with as if she were talking with any of her girlfriends. Whether her loose lips were from the wine that remained her of her get-together with the girls, or the effects of the alcohol itself, it was hard to tell. By the end of her last glass, Cadence was hot and horny from her memories of being plowed by all her past boyfriends and ready to make hot, steaming love to her husband.

Cadence thought it was odd how Shining didn't even seem to react when she got up from her seat and wobbled over to him and began kissing him on his neck. That normally got him hot and ready. She was even more confused when he got up and told her that he was tired and going to bed. In their California king-sized bed, Cadence stared at her husband's back, wondering what had gotten into him. But the wonderful thing about Shining Armor was he was honest whenever Cadence asked him a question.

"What's the matter, Shinny?" Cadence tried to slide on over, press her breasts against his back, and whisper in his ear, but her efforts to seduce her husband went in vain.

"You know, I had a few girlfriends before you, but YOU were my first" Shining admitted with his back still to Cadence.

"Is that what's bothering you?" Cadence sat up, no longer in the mood for lovemaking.

"How could it not be!?" Shining turned to face his wife, showing her the horrified expression on his face. "I knew all of those guys, Cadence! Two of them were our teachers! We invited some of them to our wedding! How can I ever look them in the eye again, knowing they were intimate with you before 'I' was!? How am I supposed to feel about that!?"

"I was a honey teenager. Not like YOU never looked up porn, or tried to use the vacuum cleaner? Remember that?" Cadence defended herself.

"That's different! You don't have to see my mother's old vacuum cleaner when you go grocery shopping with Flurry Heart! Or see any of the porn stars I wanked off too when you go out to dinner!" Shining's emotions flared, not with anger, but in pain. Cadence could see he was genuinely hurt that he wasn't the only one to make love to her, even if her other relationships did break off. "13 other guys, Cadence! You had sex with thirteen other guys while we were at school!"

"It's not like I did it with them while we were dating" Cadence was fighting a losing battle and she knew it. The effects of the alcohol had just about warn off. She was beginning to realize just how badly the truth must have hurt shining.

"No, but that's 13 guys, Cadence! I would understand if it was just one, two, maybe three! That would only be three guys I would avoid ever seeing again! Those guys who probably still think about your naked body, who went to our wedding and snickered at the fact that they had been with you before I had. But it wasn't one or two or three. It was 13!" Shining fell back against his pillow, back to his wife as tears formed in the corners of his eyes, his heart aching with unbearable pain that he had no idea how to remedy.

"But I chose you" Cadence tried to sound sincere, but Shining only brought their comforter more over his shoulder to hide more of himself from his wife.

"I'm just going to try and forget this night ever happened" Shining's words were cold, hard, and a little shaken as he hid his tears from his wife. "Good night."

Cadence had never felt so low. She knew she had been promiscuous in her younger years, but it had only helped her to become a better lover for her husband. Didn't it? But at the time, she wasn't thinking of her husband or growing a lover. She only thought about one thing that felt good for the time. Now that she thought about it, she did see a lot of her old flings around town a lot, and a few did attend their wedding. Maybe it was just her blocking it out, but the images of them checking her out during those times suddenly became apparent. Whenever she passed them by at the grocery store, getting gas, or worse, one of her old flings happened to work at CHS where Shining's sister and her friends still go!

Cadence also fell asleep with her back to Shining that night, tears streaming silently down her cheeks. What had she done? And more importantly, how does she make it right?

It had been a few days since Cadence's drunk confession, and Shining felt as if he had aged thirty years. He had never felt more like crawling into an open grave and dying than he did now. He just kept thinking about how Candence went on and on about the things she did with all those guys. Things even THEY haven't done yet! The thought was eating him up inside. So much so, that when he entered their house, he didn't notice Cadence standing at the doorway.

"Shining, we need to talk" Cadence's expression and tone indicated how serious the situation was.

If Shining had been in his normal state of mind, he would have reacted in a way most men would react to their wives saying 'we need to talk' in a harsh tone. Which would have been sheer panic. But in his current state, Shining barely reacted as his glossed-overeyes met Cadence's.

"There's no undoing what I did in the past" Cadence stated firmly, but the least aggressive she could, thinking how her aunt Celestia would speak. "But I'm willing to do anything I can to make it right. So, I have three ideas. 1) we could both go to a hypnotist and have him hypnotize us both into thinking we both were virgins when we first started dating..."

Shining showed no reaction. Cadence didn't think he would go for this (Shining didn't believe in hypnotism), but a little protest would be some welcome emotional response at this point.

"Two, we could always go to couple's therapy" Cadence REALLY hated that idea. She felt if they had to do that, that they were failing as a couple, but she was willing to do it if it meant getting her marriage back on track.

But Shining still showed no emotion.

"Right. Then it's up to the third to set things right" without realizing it, a wicked smile grew across Cadence's face as she leaned into Shining's ear and whispered something to him. Shining's expression changed for the first time in days, color returning to his eyes. He was shocked and confused by what Cadnece was saying. He had read about stuff like this online and in erotica but never believed any of it to be true. There was no way Cadence was suggesting this. It was insane! Completely crazy! Is this the only way to make things right!? Was it right? Confusion and guilt began to bubble up inside Shining like he never felt before.

But when she pulled away from his ear, a deviant smile spread across Cadence's face as she softly spoke the words "it's only fair, right?"

Author's Note

I left this story as 'incomplete' because I'm writing the other chapters as separate stories. This one will have a second chapter eventually, but I wanted to do the stories that come directly after it separately because each one will have a different character they revolve around, and not everyone might want to read them. But the next chapter posted here will conclude the story.

Please, if you are interested, take a look at the next story 'It's only a Locker Room'.

Thank you all for your support in these stories.

If I am to be honest, this was both a challenge as well as a payed project by someone who wishes to remain anonymous. After reading some comments, I could understand why. That, and well, lets face it, do you want to be known as the guy who payed for this?

But thank you all for your kind words of support.
