Her Aunt Twilight’s dragon, Spike, was waiting with the crown held in his claws. When Flurry reached the front of the aisle and stepped up, Spike placed the crown in her mane. Flurry turned to face the audience and flared out her wings. Fireworks went off as the celebration commenced, and the Wonderbolts performed an aerial show for everyone who attended that night. ModernizationFlurry gave her first decree the next day. “It is time for Equestria to be brought into the 21st Century. We will start building motorized vehicles and training soldiers to use advanced weaponry for combat and defense.” Over the course of the next 12 years, vehicles were built, tested, and mass-produced until a group of scientists made the choice to begin exploring the universe and chart the space around Equus. Queen Flurry Heart approved their plan and the scientists formed EASE, the Equestrian Agency of Space Exploration. The first group of missions was called Pegasus and was geared towards testing equipment. The Cosmos program involved going to the moon to study its natural resources and eventually constructing a base on the surface. The third program, Astro, involved travelling further and exploring many more planets in the galaxy and learning how to travel long distances in short amounts of time. The first two missions had exquisite results and over 200 planets were charted. The crew members on the first mission learned quickly how to design engines that were capable of propulsion at speeds faster than light. Little did the third crew know that Equus was about to enter a period of war against a mysterious entity. The Glow in the SkyWhen the light first appeared, the shield turned dark to prevent anyone from getting blinded. Flurry ordered mirrors to be set up in case any light from this entity managed to break through. Everyone was also required to wear sunglasses because even the shield could not filter all of the light. Eventually, the entity itself managed to teleport through the shield and travelled to Canterlot. The Young Six tried to guard the doors to the throne room, but the light was too much for them and they were left blinded and dizzy. Upon entering the throne room, the entity revealed its actual form. It was a featureless figure with rainbow colored wings. Its body was a pure white color. Astro 3The crew aboard the E.S.S. Harmony, Equestria’s largest starship, had just left the docking station and embarked on Astro 3. They were starting off by studying a supernova from a distance to understand how a star burned out and how stars were born in stellar nurseries. After documenting how some types of stars became black holes, they continued on until they reached a nebula that often released discharges of static electricity. Radioactive elements could be harvested from this nebula, but it was a dangerous procedure. The nebula had been visited by the residents from the moon base in the past and it almost had nothing left to gather. As the crew aboard the Harmony gathered what was left, a bright light suddenly appeared out of nowhere and blinded them. The sun shield was deployed automatically and protected the crew members. Beams flew from this mass of light and began to damage parts of the ship and destroy the elements from the nebula that had just been harvested. Fearing that the crew’s life was in danger, the Captain sent a distress call directly to Flurry Heart. “E.S.S. Harmony to Canterlot. Do you copy?” “This is Flurry Heart. Go ahead Captain Blitz.” “We had just finished harvesting the elements from the nebula when a mass of light appeared out of nowhere. The elements from the nebula were destroyed and parts of the ship have been engulfed. It’s as if this mass of light is alive somehow. Hold on a second. CODE RED, Your Highness, we’re losing power. Our core has been knocked out. This thing might be coming towards… *static*.” “Your Majesty, we’ve lost the signal.”, said Gallus. Flurry was devastated by the loss of the crew. They were only halfway through their mission, and now they were dead. She issued a Priority One alert around the world for everyone to prepare for a large mass of light to appear in orbit. Shield generators were constructed to stop the light from penetrating Equus’ atmosphere and destroying the moon. It was only a matter of two weeks before the mass was picked up on radar by the moon base. The bright light could be seen all around the entire globe. It was as if the sun was shining everywhere. The figure answered Flurry’s question with an echoey voice, which revealed that it was male in gender. “My name is Galeem. I am the Lord of Light.”, answered the figure as he dropped the glow on his body. “Why are you here?”, asked Flurry in a sour voice. Galeem explained that he sought to create a new world where darkness would not exist. He had been thwarted once and he decided to find a new universe to envelop in pure light. “That’s rather selfish of you. Light and darkness allow for balance in the universe.”, Flurry hissed. “Who cares about balance? Darkness can be depressing. Besides, how many times have you seen anyone who spends all time in the dark? Nine times out of ten, everyone is asleep when it’s dark.”, Galeem countered. “I care about balance, and I won’t let you eliminate all of the darkness in our universe. That’s my final word, and you may leave.”, Flurry said as she pointed to the doors, indicating that she wanted Galeem to leave her alone. “Have it your way. I hereby declare war against you and anyone who follows you.”, Galeem said in an annoyed tone as he left the throne room. He proceeded to leave Canterlot and flew into the sky, changing form as he did so. He became an orb of light that was surrounded by the rainbow colored bands that were his wings. He began creating soldiers to fight against everybody on Equus. Flurry knew it was time to defend the universe and started setting plans to create an army of her own.
