Some Feelings Never Change-ling
Reunion
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe two of you stared at each other: Queen Chrysalis with her eyes wide and her mouth open in a small "o" shape, and you with a blank expression. Neither of you said a word. The only sound was the faint hum of the bright-green aura surrounding the queen's horn.
You couldn't believe it. After nine days of searching, resting, and harvesting love, you finally found your true leader-you found the queen.
Not wanting to disrespect her majesty, you stood up and silently bowed your head in front of her, hoping that she would notice your action as a sign of loyalty. Small beads of sweat began to roll down your head as you felt your legs begin to tremble.
The queen was silent as she stared down at you, which only made you gulp nervously. After a few seconds, you finally heard her mutter something.
"My god."
You looked up and saw the queen tilt her head to her left, then proceeded to walk back into the cave: a motion that meant she wanted you to follow her. Wiping the sweat off your head and letting out a sigh of relief, you quickly walked in her direction and followed close behind. The light behind you grew dimmer and dimmer, as the two of you traveled further into the cave, making you wonder exactly just how deep it really was.
After a few minutes (which felt more like a few hours to you), you finally reached the back wall of the cave, which was illuminated by the queen's glowing horn. She carefully walked around something on the floor, which turned out to be a campfire not unlike the ones you'd set up during your journey.
Not wanting to see your queen drain herself of her magic, you levitated the matchbox out of your saddlebag, struck two matches against it, and threw them both into the stack of twigs and branches. The queen turned around and looked at the fire, then at you, then back at the fire before unlighting her horn.
When the light from the fire grew bright enough, you looked around: aside from the campfire, there wasn't a whole lot of things in the area. What you did find was a large, rectangular slab of slime just large enough to fit two creatures-a makeshift bed most likely constructed by the queen.
Hanging on the wall next to the bed was a piece of paper, with several darts pinned to it. When you flew towards it to get a closer look, you saw that it was a picture, most likely torn out of a newspaper. The image showed three figures standing in front of the royal hall in Canterlot: you recognized one of them as Princess Twilight Sparkle, while the unicorn next to her was most likely Starlight Glimmer.
The third figure, however, was very unfamiliar to you.
It was tall-taller than the two ponies-and was standing in the middle of the small group. His body was a bright-green color, while he had a dark-green abdomen and a purple carapace, the latter matching the color of his eyes. The top of his head had a curved horn, along with a pair of orange antlers which sorta reminded you of an antlion's mandibles. Overall, his appearance reminded you of...those things.
A scowl formed on your face as bad memories flooded your mind again.
Fortunately, they didn't last very long as you noticed something about the darts on the wall. Namely the fact that there were two on Twilight's face, four on Starlight, and a whopping seven darts on the face of the tall green creature. It seemed whoever threw these darts must really hate him.
And you didn't have to guess who it was that threw these darts.
The light from the fire had now grown brighter, enough for you to get a better look at the queen. Once more, your eyes went wide with shock.
You had seen what she looked like ever since the day you hatched, but what stood before you now was unlike anything you had seen before. To put it simply, your queen was a mess: her abdomen was shriveled up like a raisin, her long legs looked more like skinny black twigs, even her long, luscious mane and tail were messy and tangled in a rather undignified manner.
When she looked at you, her eyes were weary and bloodshot, with small green veins stretching out from the corners. It looked as though she hadn't slept for weeks...if not months.
"I...I never expected to find another changeling out here, let alone one who hasn't been...corrupted." She said, her voice sounding more dry and raspy while still keeping that sinister reverb she (and the rest of your kind) was known for.
"I never expected to find you either." Came your reply, as you sat down on your haunches.
Queen Chrysalis sat down across from you. "Until you showed up and showed your loyalty, I had almost given up."
"Why's that?"
"Well, after the rest of the swarm began to change into those brightly-colored pony mimics, I left the hive in disgust. I spend the night in this cave, wondering how to pay that soldier out for usurping my throne.
The next day, I received a message from a group of changelings who fled after I sent out my retreat order. They told me that they too wanted revenge for the lies that were spread about me, and agreed to meet with me on the outskirts of Van Hoover. On my way there, I sent them a message about my arrival...but there was no answer. This made me worried."
Oh god, don't tell me...
"By the time I arrived, the group had been assimilated." The queen gritted her teeth as memories began to flow through her mind. "That goddamn unicorn and the little purple lizard had already got to them before me, and convinced them to join their side! They showed me a newspaper with her, Princess Purplesmart, and that...false king on the front, which only fueled my fury and made me leave their lost cause.
One by one, I watched as all the other rogue changeling groups...my subjects, my army, my...family, become those brightly-colored abominations. My heart grew heavy with sorrow, knowing that the ponies were spreading deceit like wildfire, and destroying everything that made our kind what we are. Eventually, there was only one loyalist left."
You finally spoke, "Swarmleader Pharynx."
Nodding her head silently, the queen continued. "He told me that his squad had set up camp in a jungle near the desert. When I arrived, he was gone and the other infiltrators had been converted much like all the others. Furious, I demanded to know where he was, and one of them told me he was in the desert fighting a giant mole monster known as a maulworf.
So, disguising myself as a scarab, I watched as Pharynx fought the creature, utilizing various techniques he learned during his training as a soldier. I was even impressed when he assumed the form of a giant tarantula hawk and stung it. Then he left, with Starlight and her friend following him back into the jungle, so I followed after them."
The queen paused as she sniffed sadly. "But by then, I was too late. I reached the campsite and found that he too had been corrupted by the ponies, and he now looked like a shorter, purple version of his brother; so much so that they started calling him a prince."
As you listened, a thought suddenly occurred to you: perhaps this was the reason why Pharynx wasn't responding to you. Fucking ponies and their deceitful words.
"I left and flew back to my hideout, never looking back...not that there was any need of doing so," The queen said, tears beginning to form in her eyes. "When I returned, I broke down because I had lost everything: My home, my kingdom, but most importantly I lost my family. I may seem like a heartless bitch, but I view very single changeling serving me as my children-even the ones that didn't come from my brood of eggs. So when I saw Pharynx fall to the traitors I...I-I gave up hope."
She levitated a patchwork handkerchief up to her eyes and proceeded to wipe the tears from it, then she blew her nose. You suddenly felt an emotion that you hadn't felt for quite a long time: sorrow.
"I honestly thought I was the last true changeling on this planet," Said the queen, sniffing as she set the handkerchief down. "But then you showed up. At first, I thought Thorax had sent one of his own minions out in disguise to lower my guard and capture me, which only made it seem even more plausible when I found you shivering with fear...
...But when I saw you get up and bow down before me, I realized that you were not an impostor and were in fact one of my own loyal subjects." She turned her head in her direction. "But tell me, dear, how did you find me?"
You gave a nervous smile.
"It's uh...kind of a long story, your majesty."
You took a deep breath and began to tell the queen the story of your long and perilous journey to find her, all the while she sat and listened to everything. You even got her to giggle when you told her about how you managed to scare and trap three of the element bearers in that cave in Whitetail Woods. By the time you were finished, Chrysalis was amazed.
"My god," She said. "You spent the last eight days searching for me, all by yourself? Such devotion and bravery from a single soldier, I must say I am impressed."
"Well, as I said, I never believed in Thorax's lies; You congratulating me for taking over Twilight's castle was proof that you are not who he claims you to be." You said, before closing your eyes and placing a hoof over your heart. "I'll never betray you, my queen. As the last loyal infiltrator, I swear that I will always serve you and obey your every command."
You opened your eyes and saw the queen smiling at you: it wasn't an evil smile like most of the smiles she wore, no, this one had been brought forward by a different emotion, one that she rarely ever felt genuinely (at least, one you never saw her feel).
Happiness.
Suddenly, your ears picked up a faint growling sound. At first, you thought it was coming from your stomach, but then you realized you ate an apple fritter a couple days ago so you couldn't be hungry. The noise came again. Your eyes then focused on the queen's abdomen, which you just noticed was vibrating a bit.
"Forgive me, dear," She blushed. "I've been focused so much on grief, vengeance, and sorrow that I never had the chance to eat."
You suddenly got an idea. Taking off your saddlebags, you opened up the left one and levitated the reserve bottle out of it, showing it to the queen, who watched as the pure love you harvested swirled around inside the plastic container.
"Here, I was originally going to consume it myself in the event that my search would take longer, but now I believe you deserve it more." You explained, bowing your head. "Think of it as a token of my admiration toward you, your majesty."
Intrigued, she lit up her horn and pulled the bottle out of your grasp, opening it up and gently sniffing it; the smell of the love made her moan softly with delight. She began to inhale and you watched as the swirling love began to travel up the bottle and into her mouth, then a bright green glow began to cover her entire body. Her abdomen began to fill back up, her legs became more muscular, even her mane and tail began to straighten out.
Once the bottle was empty, Queen Chrysalis let go of it and it rolled along the rocky floor, stopping when it hit your hooves. You looked back up and your jaw hung open like a drawbridge: the queen looked much healthier now...and more beautiful as well.
"Ahh, much better." She sighed happily, her voice no longer sounding raspy. "You made a wise choice giving me this love. After all, what's the point of getting revenge if you're too weak to fight back?"
She did have a point: when it comes to the art of war, only the strongest emerge victorious.
As you scanned the queen's magnificent figure up and down, you couldn't help but notice that something was missing: something that went on the top of her head. You opened the right-hand saddlebag and levitated the crown out of it, then you moved it towards the queen.
"Your highness, I believe this is yours."
Smiling at the sight of her royal headpiece, she levitated it up to her head and carefully set it down behind her horn, adjusting it a little so it was perfectly straight.
"There, how do I look?" She asked, striking a regal pose.
"Maliciously magnificent like always, your highness." Came your reply.
The queen smiled at your compliment. "I must say, before our paths crossed, I thought that I was alone and would have to face Equestria by myself. But now I don't have to, since you are now here with me." She bowed her head and placed a hoof on her chest. "And for that, my loyal soldier, I must thank you."
"Your welcome, my queen."
"I believe you deserve something special for both finding me and restoring my faith and power. Therefore, as a reward, I shall grant you one wish."
A wish? This is quite surprising. You began to think about what exactly you wanted-various thoughts swirling through your head like an eggbeater in cake mix. Then, realizing what day it was, you knew exactly what you wanted.
"Your majesty, I know you've been wanting to get revenge on the ponies and so have I. But as you said, you can't possibly take on Equestria alone. Seeing as today is Mating Season, I may have a solution to our problem." You walked forward and bowed in front of the queen. "My wish, if you may, is to be your broodmate."
Queen Chrysalis was surprised; she hadn't expected you to use your wish like that. She thought for a moment, tapping her right hoof against the bottom of her chin.
"Under normal circumstances, I would've rejected such an offer; especially from a low-ranking soldier." She paused, making you gulp nervously. "However, seeing as we are the only true changelings here, I'll make an exception. I would be honored to have you as my broodmate, my dear."
Your face lit up as all your worries melted away. She accepted you-the queen had accepted you as her broodmate! All those years of pleasing her and showing what a loyal changeling you were had finally paid off. You were so excited you couldn't help but do a little dance, which made your queen chuckle.
Speaking of which, she had moved to her bed on the back wall and when you turned to look, you saw that she was lying on her abdomen, with her head turned 95 degrees to the right and making an expression you did not expect her to make in front of you.

"Come now, darling." She purred. "Let's begin our mating session, shall we?"
At that moment, you felt a familiar brushing feeling on your abdomen. Unlike last time, however, you were not ashamed of it.
