Some Feelings Never Change-ling
A New Beginning
Previous ChapterIt had been six months since you reunited with Queen Chrysalis, whom you helped restore to her former glory and wished to be her broodmate. When she agreed, you went to town with her, giving her-and yourself-the best mating session either of you ever had.
Now the two of you were standing on the far side of the cave that was now the location of your new kingdom, in a area that was now filled from top to bottom with changeling eggs: eggs made possible by you and your royal fiancee.
On the day you found out Chrysalis was pregnant, you were more excited than Pinkie Pie, happy at the fact that you were going to be a broodfather for the first time in your life. During the first month of her pregnancy you had begun constructing an area for the eggs to be kept safe in, making use of the remaining cucumber sandwiches in your saddlebag to produce the building materials. The queen helped out a little too, zapping slime in spots that you missed and later casting an incubation spell inside the chamber when it was finished.
Sure it wasn't the most professional-looking nursery, but it would suffice for the time being.
You watched as the queen finished rubbing a neon-green slime on one of the eggs, smiling while she did so. When she was done she walked back over to where you were standing and looked out at the rest of the clutch.
"So, how many eggs have you applied royal jelly to?" You asked her.
"Four. There will be four princesses hatching from our beautiful clutch, my dear." She replied with a warm smile. "Normally, I'd assign them to some caretakers after they hatch, but since you and I are the only adults here I will be the one raising them."
You looked back at all the eggs. "I still can't believe that me-a simple soldier-manage to impregnate my own queen and have her give birth to 69 eggs! Four of which will be future queens of their own hives."
"Well, none of this would've been possible had you not partaken in your little quest to find me." Chrysalis turned her head and looked down. "I don't know what I would do if you never stumbled upon my hideout."
You shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe you go insane, go hungry, or both. Good thing I did find you, huh?"
"Yes you did, and I'm so proud to have such a brave and loyal changeling as my beloved broodmate." She lit up her horn and pulled you towards her, kissing you right on the muzzle. "Thank you."
The chitin on your cheeks turned from black to red as you sheepishly grinned at Chrysalis, which made her chuckle. Out of the corner of your eye, you suddenly noticed something moving.
Turning your head, you saw that one of the eggs was shaking. Soon some of the other eggs started shaking too. Widening your eyes, you realized at once what was happening.
"You highness...it's time."
She nodded in response, then motioned her head in a way that told you to stand back, which you did. She then closed her eyes and released another cloud of pheromones from her legs; unlike the last time, these were white like steam from a boiling kettle. They also hung in the air a little longer, too.
A cracking sound soon filled the air. You watched as several newborn larvae emerged from some of the eggs, chirping and squeaking like the little lovebugs they were (you personally found it cute whenever changelings first hatch). They soon picked up the scent of the pheromones Chrysalis released earlier and began crawling towards her, before climbing up her legs and nestling into her spiracles.
She smiled warmly as her children wiggled and chirped inside those massive holes-some having fallen asleep in them-before looking back at you. "It's been far too long since I witnessed the birth of a new swarm; especially a swarm that I conceived."
"We conceived." You quickly corrected.
Normally, the queen would feel offended and get angry about such a statement to her. This time, however, she just nodded and gave you a sultry pair of eyes which made you blush.
Your moment of embarrassment was soon cut short when you felt something touch your left front hoof: looking down, you saw that one of the larva was propped up against your hoof. It raised its head up and looked at you curiously before smiling wide and chirping happily. You picked it up with your magic and saw that the grubling was female, with big blue eyes that matched yours.
Had it not been for the fact that the little one was a girl, you would've named them Blue Eyes Jr.; instead you decided to call her "Sapphire".
You lightly petted your daughter's head and she chirped with delight, nuzzling her cheek against the bottom of your hoof. You felt the raw love emanating from her tiny body which tasted delicious to you, so you decided to give some of your love to her. After a minute of nuzzling and feeding, you set Sapphire back down and walked towards the queen; she was busy petting one of the newly-hatched princesses.
You cleared your throat, which made her stop petting and look at you. She kissed the larva on the forehead and set her down, watching her crawl away towards her siblings.
"Well, we started up a new brood of future soldiers and workers." You finally said. "Now what?"
"Seeing as they are still in their larval stage, we need to feed them so they can grow into the strong, smart army I've always dreamed about." She turned to you. "I suggest we take turns in hunting for food...provided we find a reasonable source for it."
You knew that changelings in their infancy did not enough strength in their stomachs to turn emotions into energy, so they needed to be fed some protein. You thought for a moment, before an idea suddenly ignited in your head.
"Whitetail Woods isn't too far from here. And with its diverse range of insects and arachnids, it should be easy to bring back some meals for the children." A smirk then formed as you remembered a certain swarm of flying web-spinners you encountered.
Chrysalis smiled. "A brilliant idea, my love. You know, I remember when my caretaker fed me my first insect: it was a cicada. The best damn cicada I ever tasted." She sighed, thinking back to those glorious memories of her childhood, before snapping out of it and looking back at you.
"In addition to our hunting, I have a special assignment just for you honey."
"Yes?"
"I need you to spy on our enemies: report to me on anything new happening not only with Princess Twilight and her friends, but also Thorax and his pathetic excuse for a hive. That way, when our children reach adulthood, we'll know exactly when and how to strike back. Will you accept this task?"
In response, you puffed out your thorax and saluted.
"Excellent." Said the queen, smiling in a mix of joy and evil. "In that case, you shall also be my first Swarmleader. Your loyalty to me and our new hive is enough proof that we shall not fail like the last two times." She hovered out of the nursery, prompting you to follow her.
"Those meddlesome fools will think twice about double-crossing their own queen! They may think they're safe now, but what they don't realize is that I've already drained a good portion of love from the princesses and the element bearers, making them weaker than they normally are. Once their guard is down, our hive shall strike and Equestria will soon be all ours!"
She threw her front hooves up in the air and let out an evil laugh, which rolled off the walls of the cave and added more reverb to her already reverb-heavy voice. You smiled wickedly, loving the sound of your fiancee's voice when she laughed; especially when thinking of something evil.
The queen landed back on the ground and trotted towards you. "Now come, my dear. I'm just dying to know what the Honesty Bearer's apple fritters taste like."
You were puzzled. "Didn't you try them once before? During the royal wedding?"
"Yes. But keep in mind I was disguised as Princess Cadance, and I thought that all pony food tasted bland so I threw it away when she wasn't looking." She scanned your figure up and down. "Apparently, I was wrong. If that detail from your adventure you told me is true, then I'll know another way of keeping myself fed when I'm feeling peckish."
"Oh trust me, baby, they're lovely. And don't even get me started on her family's cider!"
Chrysalis giggled at your last sentence. "My my, you certainly are a party bug, aren't you? Perhaps during one of your spy missions, I could have you smuggle one of her precious kegs."
Your eyes twinkled with delight at the sound of that.
Now you're speaking my language, girl!
The two of you began to walk back to the area that was now the queen's bedroom. As you did, you turned around and looked at the nursery one more time, thinking back to everything that had led up to this moment.
You had started out strong when you and your fellow infiltrators took over Ponyville, but then everything came crashing down when that traitor took over the hive and turned everyone against the queen, which you found disgraceful. You were all alone then, with only your wits to guide you on your journey to find Chrysalis. And when you did find her, you both realized that as long as you were still loyal to each other, you would never be alone.
Turning back, you followed your broodmate back to her chambers, smiling broadly as you looked at your broodmate's beautiful figure. To think that once she was just your humble leader, but now she was your lover and you wouldn't trade that for anything valuable in Equestria.
Today had definitely been a good day.
