Tuned Too Low
Chapter 12:Untitled

Ponyville's temperature has gone up profusely since school ended. The sun was unforgiving on this day, which was really a good thing in Spike's opinion. He hated it when it was cold and thought it was boring when the weather was plain. But today, it was just the right temp for a party. He and the Cutie Mark Crusaders had just left Sugar Cube Corner and were on their way to the Scratch home for the party. Applebloom and Sweetie Belle were arguing about who had the better treat at the bakery while Spike and Scootaloo walked and talked about random things.
"So, why do you have your guitar?" Scoots said.
"Well, I was actually thinking about playing with Just a Scratch again." Spike said holding his guitar case.
"That's awesome! Every time you guys played a show together, the place would be trashed."
"That's pretty funny." He laughed Seeing how we're a bunch of kids and we make full grown ponies lose their minds." He face-clawed. "I blame Cee for that."
Scootaloo laughed. "He does know how to get a crowd going."
"At the Gala, he caused a riot."
Scootaloo slapped his back with her tail. "It was fun and you know it!"
"Yeah, I guess..." Spike grew silent, remembering the dance he and Scoots shared.
"You looked really nice." He said.
Scoots blushed. "Hehe, thanks. You didn't look bad yourself. Um, Spike?"
Spike looked over to her. "Yeah?"
"Um...What if, and this may sound crazy, but what if we, uh..."
"Went out?" Spike said, immediately regretting saying it out loud. He lowered his head and just kept walking. Scoots, on the other hoof, was smiling.
"Would that be bad?" She asked hoping for the answer she wanted.
Spike's head shot up. "No! No, not at all! I mean, if you want..."
Scootaloo brushed up against him. "That would be great."
"Ahem!"
The two turned to see Sweetie and Applebloom staring at them with huge grins.
"What?" Scootaloo said coldly.
"So, when's the wedding?" Sweetie teased.
"Oh, whatever, Sweetie Belle!" Scoots laughed.
"No really! You two are so cute!" She giggled
"And it took y'all long enough!" Applebloom added. Spike and Scoots blushed and looked away from them.
"A-anyway." Spike said. "We should get going. I've got to tell the colts I want to play before Cee get's too lazy to change anything."
All four of them looked at each other and sighed. Knowing Cee, like they did, that ship has sailed.
^_^""
The air was cool and calm. The sun laid over head, beating down it's rays on to the ponies of Ponyville below. Giving the plants and flowers their daily dosage. It was four-twenty, which meant Sky and Red had to be arriving at the party soon to get the equipment set up and practice for the show. But at the moment, things aren't looking so hot.
Red held Sky up against the fence, keeping a stern look, and waited for Sky to out with it. He was fed up with Sky's weird behavior today and wanted answers. Like, now.
"Red, seriously! Let me go!" Sky yelled trying to get free.
"No. You know the only way out of this." Red said, empty of emotion. "Just tell me, then I'll let you go. I'm doing this for your own good, Sky."
"Ugh! You suck!"
"Heh. Whatever."
They went quiet and Sky stopped struggling again. 'Why me?' He thought. 'I could just say it and be done with it...I mean, what's the worst that could happen?' "Fine." Sky gave up.
"Really?" Red said surprised.
"Well, admittedly, it's kinda hard to fight while being held against my will. But yeah, I tell you."
Red lighten his grip, but still kept him there. "Okay, then."
Sky breathed in and let out a long sigh. "Remember the time I stopped talking to you? When you and Cee had been on the verge of an actual fight?"
Red nodded.
"Well...The reason that I had stopped talking to you is...uh..." He looked down at the ground. Red pushed his head back up and saw he was blushing.
"Sky...Is that drink getting to your head?" Red asked with actual concern.
"Shut up! It's not. What I'm trying to say is that...Ugh! Are you sure there's no other way-"
"Sky."
"Alright, alright." He worked up all the courage he had, plus the drink made this a little more easier. He thought about all the possible things that could happen and through them aside. He had to do it. "Red. I'm...gay."
Red froze. His eyes grew wide and his jaw fell. He knew something serious was going on, but he didn't know it would be so...this. He let Sky go and they slumped to the ground. Sky dropped his head in shame, knowing Red would probably hate the next part.
"...and I c-couldn't talk to you, because...I didn't know how to tell you.I've been my best friend almost as long as Spike and I didn't want it to ruin that. Plus, how your dad talks about that kind of stuff started to get to me. So, I avoided you. Cee and Spike were the first ones I told. I'm s-sorry." Sky wiped the tears out of his eyes and looked down the road towards Cee's house.
"That's it?"
"Huh?" Sky shot his head up ward at Red's question.
"That's it? You didn't talk to me for a whole month...because you were scared of how I would react?"
"Red-" Red held up his hoof.
"Because you thought I wouldn't except you? Just because of what my dad says?! Really, Sky?!" Red grew upset. He was in Sky's face. "How could think like that?! Why did you think I wouldn't except that? I'm your friend, Sky." He got up and sat beside his friend. "Nothing could change that."
"Sorry." Sky said.
"Don't worry about it. Now." Red said standing up. "Let's head over to Cee's. The sun is killing me!"
Sky nodded and got up. "Yeah...Uh, Red?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks." Sky extend his hoof.
"No worries." Red extended his to Sky's for a brohoof.
"Aren't you scared that your dad will find out you randomly stole his twenty year old cider?"
"Meh. And besides, it'll be worth it when Cee and Spike get a hold of it." Red started walking towards the cart, leaving Sky standing with a huge grin on his face.
"You're sick, you know that?"
"So I'm told. Oh and one last thing, come here." Red waved Sky over, which he did. In a split second, Red jumped and snatched the hat off Sky's head. He turned to see what the big deal was about...and went wide eyed. "Dude. Just...dude."
Sky stayed still with his eyes shut tight. Earlier, he had cut and dyed his mane. What he did was styled it to a mohawk form and dyed it a familiar crimson. His face turned the exact same color when he opened his eyes.
"I-I can explain! *sigh* No I can't.." Red walked over and laid a hoof on Sky's shoulder. And grinned.
"You have plenty of time to after the show. And I have to say, Sky. Red suits you."
"Shut up."
