Vinyl Scratch, also known as DJ Pon-3 in the scene, locked the door of the familiar backroom inside her favorite musical instruments retailer.
Despite the small room being barely lit, she immediately noticed the brand-new 'WuBster 3000' on the glossy ceramic tile floor. The portable and splashproof edition from what she could make out in the light.
They knew her well here at 'Loud & Proud' for she was a known regular. Nopony had asked her any questions when she went to the back of the store in a straight line after entering through the main entrance.
The customer service was by far the best in all of Canterlot, no doubt. Nothing could compare to their services, and the prices were quite reasonable as well.
The owner of the store was an old childhood friend of Vinyl and a big fan of her digital music. So that might have been one of the reasons the DJ enjoyed certain benefits there. Benefits she made use of quite often.
Like testing the newest equipment in-store with absolute privacy. For as long as she wanted and as often as she needed before deciding to buy the products in question.
And Vinyl had a very unique and intense style of product testing that required a certain degree of professional discretion.
Today she wanted to see for herself how the portable 'WuBster 3000' would fit her needs and high standards.

After giving the device a quick overall glance, she wasted no more time and lifted her brought 'vinyl' record onto the wall-mounted player to get the music started.
A track was playing that was recently added by her partner, Octavia Melody. Vinyl wanted to listen to one she hadn't heard before for the test.
It seemed to be an old well-known classic, but she knew there would be a certain twist to it. Something no one else than Vinyl would ever be able to experience, for it was a very personal and intimate addition to Octavia's usual work.
A gift made specifically for her when they were separated for long periods, so Vinyl could still experience the presence of her partner through music when a certain desire became too much to bear without.
Octavia had received an equivalent counterpart from Vinyl as well, for when she was out of town with her concert group.
New plays were regularly added to their respective records from both of them to keep their recurring but temporary long-distance relationship interesting.

Vinyl lay down on the cold glossy floor on her back, her hind legs spread apart in front of the speaker.
A shiver went through her body from the cold ceramic, but she listened attentively to the melody nonetheless.

The music was still clear for the ending, so it did seem like it was splashproof at least.
After lying in her cooling fluids for a while and making a verdict in her mind, she stood up and unlocked the door.
One of the employees was already waiting in front of the room with a bucket and broom to clean up the expected mess of her.
Vinyl just snickered, patted the pegasus on the shoulder, and made her way to the front to buy a 'WuBster 3000' with a bright smile on her face.
Scratch that, make it two!
