Author's Note
This story takes place a few days after the big battle against Cozy Glow, Chrysalis, and Tirek in season 09. I came up with this story during my hiatus when I read some Coming Out stories by other writers.

"..." - Character's Speech
It was just a beautiful day in the land of Equestria as all the citizens of Ponyville were enjoying a warm day as the weather was beautiful. Flying across the sky was the blue pegasus mare with rainbow colors mane named, Rainbow Dash who landed in the Sweet Apple Acres. Rainbow Dash stood in front of the door as her heart was pounding, but she shakes her nervous and knocked on the door.
"Coming!"
Applejack called out from behind the door as the sounds of fabric moving and the hurried footsteps of hooves could be heard as Rainbow Dash was flustered and patient. The door then opened and revealed the bright orange mare who has a silky blonde mane named Applejack without her hats. Applejack was surprised but she was smiling at her friend Rainbow Dash who was standing in front of her.
"Well, howdy there Rainbow..." Applejack said, surprise clearly written across her face, "What brin' you 'ere today?"
"Well..." Rainbow Dash said before she swallowed heavily as a blush appeared on her cheeks, "There's something I want to tell you. Can I come in?"
"Uh, sure Rainbow. Apple Bloom, Big Mac and Granny Smitch left to do some stuff. They'll be gone a few hours. So, yeah, you're good." Applejack said as she gestured for Rainbow Dash to enter.
After only a moment's hesitation, Rainbow Dash nodded and followed Applejack into the house before Applejack closed the door. Applejack showed Rainbow Dash around the living room and motioned for her to sit on the couch, and they sat on the couch side by side. Rainbow Dash looked around and saw that there was a wooden desk in front of the sofa with shelves containing books and board games.
Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash with a puzzled expression,"So, did you say their was somethin' you wanted to tell me?" She asked getting her friend Rainbow Dash's attention when a blush appeared on Rainbow's cheeks.
Rainbow Dash swallowed softly, "It's... Something really embarrassing and I... I uh… I'm just a little nervous about the idea."
"What’s there to be nervous about?" Applejack asked, momentarily wondering why she of all ponies was asking that.
Rainbow turned her head a little, "AJ... I... I..." She mumbled something under her breath as her face reddened further.
Applejack shifted closer to Rainbow Dash as she was concern for her friend, "You what? You know you can tell me anythin'. What’s botherin' you sugar?" She said as she gaved Rainbow Dash a comforting smile.
Rainbow Dash sighed as she looks at Applejack, "Uh, right. Um... Since, you're my best friend and all; I really wanted to tell you first that..." She said before she swallowed and stared and locked eyes with Applejack, "I... Like... Girls..."
"Ohhh..." Applejack said as she let that process for a few moments, "You're tellin' me you're a lesbian ain't you?" She asked as Rainbow Dash gave her a nod, "Oh..." She said as she paused for a moment as she was trying to find the right words, "When did you become a lesbian?"
"I didn't recognize myself as a lesbian until the age of 16. But by then, I was beginning to have fantasies and desires toward mares." Rainbow Dash said as she was nervous while Applejack continue listen her, "I was freaked out, but I was in denial and firmly convinced myself that the thoughts about mares were just a phase or something I found exciting because it's a bit different."
Applejack chuckled as she smiled warmly, "I see. I support you completely if that's what you're looking for here." She said as she smiled at her friend, "I admittedly didn't quite expect that... But that's okay. So you like mares, that's fine." She said as she put a hoof around Rainbow Dash, "That's nothing to be ashamed of."
"I'm not ashamed of it..." Rainbow Dash said as she smiled at Applejack with a small blush on her face, "Equestria's pretty progressive. I mean, Granny Smith's always been pretty skittish about it, but she's not mean about it." She said still smiling at Applejack, "She's just old and doesn't know better. I was just a little embarrassed that is all."
"I see..." Applejack said as she then smiled at Rainbow Dash, "And why are you tellin' me all this and not, Twilight?" She asked as she was a bit confussed that her friend will come to her, "She is the best at givin' advice than me."
"I want to share this with you because... I love you so much..." Rainbow Dash said while Applejack wide her eyes with a blush, "I want you to know me, who I am, and I've tried so hard to push this feeling away." She said as she blushes too as she looks down, "To keep it locked up inside, but every day feels like a war."
Rainbow Dash pauses and sees Applejack looking at her with his eyes wide and a blush on her face. Applejack was stunned by Rainbow Dash's confession while she was shocked by the shocking news. Applejack had no words to say, unable to speak out of the blue while they were both blushing awkwardly, unsure of what to say. Then, Applejack snapped of her trance, and cleared her throat as she blushed and smiled before speaking up.
"You... You really like me?" Applejack asked as she was surprised with a blush on her face.
"Yes, I really do." Rainbow Dash said while blushing.
"Why me? Why not a popular mare, like Rarity?" Applejack asked as she looks at Rainbow Dash.
"I don't want her. Sure, she's beautiful, but I like you more." Rainbow Dash said with confident on her voice.
"Why me?" Applejack asked as she was curious with a blush on her face.
"You don't even know how amazing you are, do you?" Rainbow Dash said with a confident tone in her voice, "You're not shallow, you really care about others, and obviously not afraid to stand up for what you believe in." She said as she shifted closer to Applejack, "You're everything I could want in a marefriend."
"I..." Applejack started as she blushed and look away from Rainbow Dash, "I just really don't know what to say..." She said as she looks down and sighed before she spoked again, "No pony has ever... Loved me before."
"It's nice isn't it?" Rainbow Dash asked as she smiled at Applejack.
"Yes... But I... I don't. I don't feel the same thin' for you..." Applejack said it nervously, knowing it would break her friend's heart, "Y-You're a great friend and all that, but i'm not like that. I don't like girls that way, I'm perfectly straight."
"Really? I always thought you were into girls. I mean..." Rainbow Dash said while looking confused as he looks at Applejack, "You did turn down Trenderhoof several times."
"Trenderhoof is a nice feller, but I don't feel any attraction to him." Applejack responds calmly, "What other things have given you reason to doubt that I'm straight?"
"Besides the fact that you've never had a crush on guys? In Hearts and Hooves Day, Rarity made you a list of potential stallions. But you rejected the effort." Rainbow Dash said as she continue, "Then we have the case where several Stallions have asked you out, but you always seem to turn them down. That kind of reinforced the suspicion I've always had on you."
Applejack chewed on her lip for a moment, trying to ignore the embarrassed flush on her face, "All this because of my lack of attraction to guys, which I... I could understand but..." She responds calmly while looking at Rainbow Dash, "But that doesn't mean I'm suddenly into girls."
"So... You don't have problems that I have attractions for girls?" Rainbow Dash stuttered as she asked, "And you don't mind that I'm attracted to you?"
"Of course, I am fine 'bout it..." Applejack said as she smile placing a hoof on Rainbow Dash, "And listen, I'm flattered you've taken a shine to me, but..." She said with a comforting tone in her voice, "I don't feel the same way 'bout you, and I only like you as a friend. We will always be friends none of that will change."
Rainbow Dash let out a sigh of relief and disappoint with a small smile on her face, "I better get going." She said as she then stood up from the couch and trotted to the door before she stared at Applejack with hurt in her eyes, "Whoever you end up with will be very lucky." She said this before she took off into the sky.
Applejack watched Rainbow Dash leaving. She knew that the heart of her pegasus friend is broken. But she knows she has to be honest with her. Then, Applejack entered back to her house while Rainbow Dash was now high in the sky.
