It was a calm night on the land of the world called Equis. A land that gone trough a lot of events, good and bad. Home to a vast range of living creatures. Animals like dogs, cats, rabbits, lions; wild creatures, such as hydra, timberwolfes, manticores; sentient beings called ponykind, griffins, minotaurs, dragons, diamond dogs, kirins and so on and so on. There was, however, once a higher beings. Elder dragons that lived for a thousands of years, for example. But the most recognisable were alicorns - a very powerful breed among ponies, created trough magic or born from other alicorn. But this story is not about them. Our story begins with a being by the name of Discord.

No one knew where he was from, except for one - his beloved. He made a lot of mistakes trough his life : tried to conquer Equis and rule as Chaos God, the Mad King, destroy friendship and things that was build in the peaceful land. But at later date, when he discovered, that there is more to him to just cause chaos - he gained something more powerful than his abilities to bend reality - friendship, companionship, and later - love. A mare, that knew his secret fell in love with him, and it was mutual. For many years they were together, they laughed together, cried together, smiled, wept, until... It was time to say goodbye. There is no longer 'them', as the circle of life took her at the old age, and despite Discord's pleas - she couldn't stay with him. Many years passed since that sorrowful day, as Discord was falling to his grief and sorrow. His other friends too grew old and perished, leaving behind their crying families. All those, who showed him the joy of friendship were now resting deep in the soil. Even those alicorns left, becoming the world's new sun, moon, love and magic. There was nothing left for him.

Discord was staying in his own plane of existence, where no one would see him nor hear him. He was in deep thought, looking at the world trough the giant mirror with empty eyes. - "The world changed so much, my dear..." - he silently said. - "I wish you could see it right now. Giant skyscrapers, automobiles, malls, technologies of all kinds... even with everything that is new to the world you were living on - there is still places of wildlife. The world so full of living beings, yet... so empty."

He watched as creatures of different races came back to their homes, hugged their families, smiled at their kids. - "Even with everything that I know and can do - I couldn't given you the most rewarding feeling - parenthood. No one could find reason to why we couldn't have our own offsprings. You were my kindness, my dear. You gave me so much. And I couldn't give you this one thing... if only..." - A thought struck him like a powerful lighting. - "If only I could create them..."

He suddenly straighten himself, clearing his head and focusing his mind. If he could create them - how they would look like? Surely they would be twins. A filly and a colt. Filly would be her mother's little girl. She would be clever, strong-willed, beatiful little devil. Oh, she would be spoiled rotten with the amount of kindness in our family. Colt would be like his dad - not easy to get scared, determined, a powder keg, vicious if angered. Oh, how much fun we would have with my boy! Playing jokes at ponies, camping, enjoying our time at the backyard while the girls would talk about something they interested in... Yes! It would be so much... fun. He slumped back, the sparks in his eyes dimming. It would be fun... but the time passed already. He can't turn it back, even if he wanted to. But instead - what if he changed the original scrit? After all - life itself is a big book with countless pages. He just need to get on the right page.

He straighten up once more, regaining those sparks of hope and charging up the spell. With a loud snap of his fingers he left his place, looking trough thousands of different worlds. He was determined to find a world, where the book only begins. Where he could change the history.

Exhausted, he was slowly flying trough the skies of another world, where the elder alicorns - Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos were still ruling over Equestria, thinking about concealing the future Diarch of the Sun. He passed wast lines of forests, rivers and lakes, until he reached the Twin Fang Peaks - home of thestrals. He was unseen to others, with a clear goal of reaching his parents. Unlike his world - this one had different shaped inhabitants. Like Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle was telling about the world behind the mirror - the residents of this place were bipedal, but with distinct features of their races like the colour of skin akin the colour of fur in his world, horns, tails and wings. He took a sharp turn and reached the giant caves. It was midnight, so thestrals would be more active. Flying down the roads - Discord reached the door of his old house. There was a reason - why he didn't tell anypony, except his beloved about his childhood. Not because he concider his childhood a bad time, but because it was painful to remind himself about those who he loved. He looked around and not spotting anyone - took on his disguise. He now looked like a fine gentleman in a brown suit, white shirt, good shoes and combed grey hair. His eyes still had different sized ireses and his horns were a strange sight, but that wasn't important right now. Dispelling his invisibility charm - he took a deep inhale and knocked at the door. Couple of seconds later there was a male voice behind the door.

"I'm coming, just a second!" - And indeed, within a couple of seconds the door was opened by a male thestral of this world. Tall and well built figure with slitted yellow eyes. Thestral examined his guest from head to toe and asked. - "Good evening. How can I help?"

"Vlad d'Mori? Husband of Mary d'Mori?" - Discord asked, holding both hands behind his back. At the nod of thestral - Discord continued - "May I come inside? I had a long journey and wanted to talk to you and missus about an important topic."

"Sure, but if it's about joining the Night Guards - I'm not interested." - He gestured with his hand to come in and of course - Discord obliged.

Next three hours was spent in the living room of the house, where Vlad, Mary and Discord were talking. Discord tell them everything about who he is and what his life were like. About his mistakes and achievements. About his love and his loss. Vlad and Mary didn't believed him at the start, but when he said some very personal things - suspicions were evaporated. Right now they finished their tea and Mary asked him. - "Discord, while we very happy to learn about you and everything you told us - I must ask : why are you here and not in your world?"

"Good question, Mary. While my beloved passed and we didn't had foals of our own - I decided to... create them. I will take pieces of my and hers personalities and put them into a blank newborns, changing them to be like me and her in character and to look like others in this world. The reason for me being here is... I need your help. While I rarely doubt myself and have no regrets most of the time - this process will... end me. I will cease to exist, because I am about to split my powers between them. I'm here because I chose this world for them and... because I need your help." - They looked at him with worry, while he was focused at the cup before him. - "It will sound selfish, but I don't know anyone else to trust with this. You could give birth to me in this world and I couldn't blame you or, instead of me you may raise my children. I can't pressure you on this, but..." - Vlad and Mary stand up and after coming to his side hugged him tightly. Discords heart quiver at this, tears in his mismatched eyes. To ask your parents for such a task and don't bringing himself, but instead having two of his kids as his last wish was a hard request. He said that he will help them, giving everything he owned to them and later to his children. Vlad and Mary agreed.

Later that night, while the Sun was begging to shine at horizon - Discord and thestrals were standing before a big basket. Vlad and Mary gained huge amount of bits with a fake backstory of finding buried treasure in the woods. Right now Discord was standing before the basket, concentrating every bit of his powers to create a life. First were his daughter. Small girl with dark wavy hair and grey streaks trough it, the uniqueness were her eyes - pure black sclera and pupils, while her irises were glowing red. His son had a warm dark hair and eyes with grey irises. After Discord was done - he placed both of them into the basket with a soft covers and a small blankets around them, hugged Mary and Vlad, giving them a thankful smile before putting them into sleep on the couch. Taking a basked he stepped outside of the house and gently layed the basket before the door. Crouching, he put a letter to the side of an improvised cradle, before giving his children a loving kiss on their foreheads, whispering to them. - "I love you both, Eris and Jericho. Sorry for not being able to look for you..." - And with that he poured into them all of his powers equally, enduring the exhaustion and painful strain, pushing himself to the limit. When he was done - the only thing left from him was two little kids on the doorstep of their new parents and a small cloud of golden dust.

~Many years later~

Four years years passed since he felt magic in this world last time. It was a surprise that the angered Celestia sent him here all those years ago, and even more convenient that the old bastard Starswirl had a way to this place, discovered by ex-pupil of the Sun Diarch. He as well was in young girl's shoes before - lost, angry... but right now he has a lot of positives on this side. A good amount of wealth behind his name, a small circle of friends, he even became a legal guardian, but despite all of this - he missed his sister. When he was blamed for the corruption of his close friend back on Equis - his so called punishment was a banishment to this world. But enough of this thoughts. Looks like she is coming here.

The front door of a car opened and Sunset sat down, putting her backpack on the backseat. She turned to me, producing a happy, sincere smile. - "Good day, uncle Jericho. I'm happy to see you." - She said with a good amount of happiness in her voice. Sunset leaned and hugged me tightly on the neck. It was the begging of September, new year of school and it seems like her day was pleasant so far.

"Good day, Sunset. Ready to go?" - She sat back and put her seat belt on. To answer my question she simply nodded. - "We need to get some groceries on the way, maybe you want something as well." - I informed her, turning the engine key and bringing our car to life, driving out of the school parking lot.

"Hmm... Maybe some cereal for breakfast? I finished the box this morning..." - She sheepishly admitted with a nervous chuckle.

"I noticed." - I answered bemused. How she eat this shugar-filled nightmare is beyond me. - "Did you enjoyed your lunch?" - I asked her, keeping my eyes on the road, a small smile crept on my lips.

"Oh yes! My friends that were eating with me was a little jealous at grilled vegetables with sweet chicken." - She laughed, covering her mouth with left palm. - "You always cook amazing, uncle. I wonder if you could teach me someday."

"No problem, Sunset, but not today. As you know - today is the day." - I said with serious tone. A worried expression morphed on Sunset face. - "I've contacted your principal that you're going to be absent for some time."

"Do you think that... she will forgive me?" - She asked, looking trough the side window. We were driving trough the peaceful part of the city with houses on both sides of the road.

"Can't say for sure, my dear. But I think she will have more to think about with my presence. I hope she will not go full assault on me - that would be problematic. If my memory serves - we will encounter Nightmare Moon. Please, when we get to the Castle - find a safe spot and I will cast a shield so you don't get hurt. I have a lot to say to both Nightmare and Celestia..." - My tone changed from calm to little growl at the end. Hands tightly squeezing the steering wheel.

"Uncle, please - don't kill her. I understand your reasoning, but I don't want Celestia to die." - Sunset almost pleaded.

"I won't, but she will get hit. Hard." - I admitted.

Sunset exhaled, turning back to me and nodding with understanding smile. She's a smart one. Can't belive Celestia did her job so inadequate in rasing and teaching her. If you took the girl under your wing - don't half-ass your job as mentor and parent. She's like a sponge for knowledge! Everything I'm telling her or something that she learning from school she absorb with ease. Hah, sister would love to meet her. They both a huge bookworms...

***

Shopping with Sunset is always interesting. If we going together - it's always going to end in the bookstore. She would pick something up, usually some science books or her favourite adventure series. Either way even I can pick something up in there. There's no point in reading history when you lived trough it, but I can't turn down horrors, they are my weakness.

When groceries were bought - we can move to the clothes. On her birthday a couple years ago I purchased for her a lether jacket and high boots, thinking she would love them. She adore them, wearing the same jacket for every autumn, early winter and early spring, jeans and t-shirts her second favorite. For me it's either turtleneck or a shirt with long sleeves, classic black slacks and buisness shoes. If it's cold - parkas for her and coats with short fur on the collar for me. I need to put an order for a new jacket for her on this year birthday.

With our shopping spree done - we would come back to our house. I bought it couple of years back, when I moved to Canterlot. On the paper I am a 38 years old business man, guardian of 17 years old girl. Our house is nothing flashy - a simple living space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, basement and an attic. We live at the end of the street with a couple of neighbours, but they don't bother me or Sunset too much. Probably afraid of my features, that big scar on my face, my hight and steel-like gaze give off a threatening feeling, or so I was told.

After getting home we would usually unpack our stuff and do our things. Sunset would go to her room or stay in the kitchen to do her homework, while I would cook dinner. In today's menu : spaghetti with sea cocktail (shrimp, mussels and sliced squid) with tomato sauce, tea at the end is optional and can be replaced with juice. While I'm cooking - Sunset would ask me something that she don't understand, but often she is silently studying.

When we finished our dinner and washed the dishes - we retreated to our rooms to prepare for teleportation. Sunset put her favourite jacket and boots on, along with dark jeans and black t-shirt. I didn't change my clothes, so I still wore my black turtleneck, slacks and shoes, along with my light coat. For a good measure I locked our house from the inside and sat down in the living room on the couch. Sunset joined me not long after, reading her new book while we waiting. The sun was almost sat down, when the bubble of white light formed around us. Sunset yelped and hugged my left arm, while I gave her reassuring smile to calm her down. She calmed down, but didn't let go of my arm. We got up and closed our eyes, while the light shined brighter with every passing second, until there was only white. After a loud pop the light begin to fade. It felt like I was missing something and it sat back on its place, like I was numb and suddenly regained my senses. My magic core was working again and filling my body with power. When the light fade away our sights set on the old throne room of a Castle. It was early evening. Looks like Sunset was right and Celestia abandoned this place after Luna's banishment. But we can look around later. Right now we need to prepare...
