Elsewhere in the Everfree Forest, Rainbow Dash, with lantern in hand, lead an encumbered Applejack through the gloomy darkness.

“You’ll let me know if carrying all that extra weight gets to be too much for you, won’t you?” Dash asked, a wry smile to her lips as she looked over her shoulder at the woman trailing behind.

“One. Extra. Point…” Applejack grumbled under her breath, a pillowcase slung over either shoulder.

“What was that?”

"Y’got one extra point!"

“Hey!” the lithe athlete spun on her heel, the light of the lantern briefly bringing the blue’s and yellows of her Wonderbolt uniform to light, as well as every toned muscle that the flatteringly tight spandex clung against. "I’m not the one who wanted fruit to be worth extra points. It’s not my fault we got so many extra raisins."

“Raisins aren’t even real fruit! Y’jest got lucky. That’s all.”

"Oh, Applejack. I know it must seem like luck for someone with so little knowledge of Nightmare Night strategy." Dash tutted, the condescension in her voice matched by her prodding the freckled farmer’s well muscled stomach. "But the truth is, my partner and I won because of our expert preparation and flawless execution.

“Mhmmmm.” Applejack replied with a roll of her eyes. “Speakin’ of, where is that partner of yer’s?”

“She’s right…” Dash looked over one shoulder, then the other, peeking over Applejack and behind her back, her expression going slack as realisation dawned on her. “I - I could ask you the same thing!”

The pair paused a moment, sharing a look as the fact that they were alone began to fully take hold.

“This is all your fault!” Dash blurted first. “Not a chance!” Applejack snarled. “They probably’ left right around the time you were takin’ yer’ third count!”

“I wouldn’t have needed to take a third count if you had just accepted that you lost the first time!”

The pillowcases dropped to the ground as Applejack put her hands to her head. “Ugh, look’it how dark it is! By the time we get back, Nightmare Night’ll be over!”

“And we’ve got all of Scootaloo and Applebloom’s candy…” Dash groaned, dejection thick in her voice.

“Well… Sweetie Belle’ll prolly’ share hers with em’.”

Dash held up the light in her hand, looking it over, as if seeing it for the first time. “Yeah… and Rare even left us the lantern…”

The pair exchanged another look and sighed, each taking a pillowcase of candy in hand and beginning to walk again.

“What d’ya think we’re gonna’ hafta’ do ta’ make it up to her?”

“Well… she’s been dropping hints about some fashion expo up north…”

The pair shuddered.

“Ah’m guessin’ any excuses we had jest’ went right out the window.”

“I’m guessing you’re right…”

Applejack chucked. “Maybe if Ah’ apologise first, she’ll let me off the hook.”

Dash smirked. “Are you suggesting a race?”

Applejack, with a smile on her face, gave her friend a gentle shove. “Ah’ think we’d both know who’d win that.”

“I think you’re right.” Dash smiled, returning the favour. Applejack stumbled to one side, the laughter on her lips suddenly going silent as, without warning, she disappeared off the side of the path and into the woods beside her, the blonde swallowed whole by the darkness and disappearing from sight.

“Oh my gosh! Applejack!?”

The sound of branches rustling and twigs snapping was the only reply to be heard as Dash rushed to the edge of the path, peering into the darkness with lamp in hand, looking for any sign of the blonde woman that had been beside her a mere moment earlier.

“Applejack, are you okay?!” She called out, squinting into the darkness but finding it all but impenetrable. Pushing branches aside, she made to go deeper, but suddenly felt an unseen force upon her, wrapping itself around her arms and legs and dragging her down the side of the path and into the shadows.

“What in the-” the Wonderbolt felt every rock and root as she skidded along the forest floor, the grip of whatever was upon her growing too tight for her to escape or even to struggle against.

After only a few moments the dragging ceased, and she found herself in a clearing, pitch black save for three pairs of glowing orange eyes of which she had become only a partial focus. “What the heck is going on!?” She shouted as one pair of eyes moved towards her. “Hey! Stay away from me! I’ll-” Dash words failed her as something wrapped itself over her mouth, forcing her silence and leaving her to watch helplessly as the eyes drew closer.

Muffled shrieking rang out dully when the woman to whom they belonged became clear. Rarity’s placid expression filled her vision as vine wrapped hands took hold of her ankles and dragged her closer to the others.

Dash began to thrash and struggle as best she could, her pathetic efforts not even drawing the attention of her captors as her mind raced to figure out what was happening.

Among the throng of empty, orange eyes she caught sight of Applejack, sat on her knees with arms and legs bound, a gag wrapped around her mouth, and ever expanding tears along her jeans and shirt. Standing above her, Dash saw Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, each all but naked save for shreds of fabric and vines, the former with Applejack’s hat in hand, the latter holding a glowing pumpkin that she had begun to lower. Applejack looked up into it, still struggling in vain while the vines that held her in place continued to creep along her sun-kissed skin, the buttons of her flannel shirt coming undone, large, perky breasts spilling out as green tendrils pushed their way beneath her bra.

As the pumpkin settled above her shoulders, a bright orange flash left Applejack to fall limp to the ground, drawing another muffled shriek from Rainbow Dash’s still gagged lips. A moment later, she began to rise again, her arms falling to her sides as she returned to her feet in one long, unnatural motion. Pinkie Pie lifted the pumpkin from her head, revealing a fourth pair of blank, orange eyes, aglow in the darkness, gazing vacantly in her direction while Fluttershy returned the stetson to its place atop her head. All the while the vines continued to slither along the length of her body, moulding themselves to its firm, inviting curves as Dash made one more futile attempt to struggle, but found her own vines tightening around her.

Her mind swam with questions, what was going on? why were her friends in the forest? why were they naked? But as she watched a lone vine slither beneath the waist of Applejack’s jeans, followed shortly after by a long, soft, moan, none were so prominent in her mind as what it was that the pumpkin in Pinkie Pie’s hands had done to her.

“Ah’ live to serve The Grand Pumpkin.” she breathed, her arms stretching out before her. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy began to approach Rainbow Dash, still trying as best she could to do something, her efforts to feeble that even Rarity’s dainty grasp could keep her subdued.

“All shall worship The Grand Pumpkin.” the quartet repeated as three of them came to loom overhead, their vacant eyes upon her.

Pinkie Pie held the pumpkin above her, the vines slithering downward from the hole in its base, the last things that Dash saw before a blinding flash of orange.
