"Violet! What the fuck did I tell you about those paninis?!"

I stopped flavoring my soup as I howled at my server. She fumbled with the plates and rushed the order back to where it came from. "Y-yes, boss!"

I snorted air out of my nose as I heard somebody laughing behind me, and a quick look from me shut them up. It seems like Minuette finds others getting yelled at funny, but not quite much so when directed at her. She cleverly pretended not to have anything to do with it and whistled suspiciously as she went along with her orders.

"Order up! Four seventy-two and four seventy-three!" Said the voice of Giddy Giggles.

Giddy and his team of chefs stationed nearby were busy cooking up a storm at his station. It was a busy day at The JeanDélicieux, and we would see to it that all the hungry, hungry ponies would eat well.

Yes, even the unpleasant ones!

There were plenty of those around, but there were also plenty of ponies around in general these days. More so than the rush in the holidays. In fact, this past week, my restaurant had seen a massive influx of visitors. Why?

Because someone let it slip that one of the princesses of Equestria worked at the restaurant.

So naturally, this news spread like wildifre all across the papers of the country. Within a week after Luna had worked here that one time, we had a line outside of the restaurant because there were no tables available to accommodate everyone.

Don't get me wrong—the attention was awesome. It even gave me a few ideas for expanding the chain. The stress and workload it brought with it was the part that almost killed me, though.

However, the increased number of patrons meant a larger budget, which meant more employees. So, I entrusted a team of chefs under Giddy Giggles, to test his ability.

He didn't dissapoint.

For a few days, there was no time to sit down. I had to work nonstop with the others to keep up with the demand. There were so many tables and orders coming in that we could barely see the floor in the restaurant.

We were on track for having our most successful week so far. And that included the holiday rush. I was just glad that I had a bunch of help. It would have been impossible for me to handle this alone.

However, I was worried about this interrupting my family time with Fluffy, so I came up with a simple solution that would benefit everyone. She would work with us!

One might argue that putting their child to work is irresponsible, but also nepotism. However, nobody was complaining. My staff loved her, my customers loved her, but most importantly, daddy loved her.

Yes, I was now a full-fledged dad again. Sue me!

I put in some oregano and tasted my way to a delicious bolognese sauce I had been making. Immediately after, I poured some white sauce into a pan I would prepare lasagna in. My restaurant wasn't all elitist about the food; we served what ponies craved and would demand we serve. The best part about the job is the feedback, and that feedback could be used to improve.

At least, that's what my wife told me.

Sugar Plum was finally back at work; she had been for a few weeks at this point. It was about a month since all the drama with Cog Wheel happened, so it had blown over for the most part. She was feeling a bit cheery again, and I was glad to know that it was probably not going to be a dice roll whether or not she would come to work the next day anymore.

She ended up selling her house and moving in with Fluffy and me, at least for the time being. She told me she needed to be somewhere safe until she could move on with her life, and I was more than happy to help with that.

I actually didn't mind her staying with me at all. It almost felt like an everyday life again.

She looked at me while cutting up a delicious foccacia bread she had been preparing, and she smiled at me. I winked back at her while doing my own work.

Our closer interactions had not gone unnoticed by my other staff. They would start whistling at us occasionally, which I found a bit annoying. Whatever would please these youngsters, I supposed.

So, what would become of Sugar and me? I wasn't very sure. In a way, I felt there was a connection there, about to spark into something more. There had been signs for me to notice about her standing a lot closer to me in many places where we went together, things like that.

I just didn't know quite yet. Moving on from the love I had for my wife doesn't seem like it would be possible for me. Maybe one day, I would be ready for that.

I didn't like to dwell on that too much, though. It just made me nervous around Sugar.

"Bring me another!" The swinging doors leading from the kitchen to the restaurant wes flung open triumphantly. It was Princess Luna, and she had the misfortune of smacking into Minuette as she was on her way out.

Chatter Batter almost crashed into the princess' flanks. Apparently, she had been walking right behind her on her way in, too. She grumpily snuck past the two of them. "Seriously, why haven't we marked these doors yet?!"

Everyone present looked up, and there was a collective shrug from all my employees, including me.

Since the news about Luna working at a restaurant had shaken the world, we couldn't just not utilize her for advertisement. I asked her the favor of stepping in once or twice in the evenings just to please the tourists.

After considering the pros and cons, she agreed, but she suggested I return the favor by catering some events that would take place in Canterlot Castle whenever she asked me for it.

Was that supposed to be a bad trade? I took it instantly.

Working for me and being more social with the working class wouldn't exactly be bad PR for Luna, either. Ponies were coming to see her, which was her big chance to show what kind of ruler she was, but most importantly, what kind of pony she was.

Luna recovered from the crash with Minuette and was now helping her up. She had managed to save the plates of food with her blue magic. "Pardon me, young pony. On your hooves!"

I made a swivel motion with my hands, telling them to move on as the orders were starting to pile up. Sometimes, on busy days like these, an order could take up to twenty minutes to leave the kitchen, which was unacceptable. Be it because the food was being prepared slowly or because my servers had their hooves full.

This problem almost vanished with our new secret weapon: Fluffy Wings.

She was fast as lightning, and agile as a serpent. She would gracefully slip in and out of the doors, dodging everyone that threatened to crash into her, and be out with new orders just as fast. She wasn't a unicorn, but that mattered little. Her plump wings could easily carry two plates at a time and she balanced them perfectly each time.

She was a natural, and it made daddy so, so proud.

She was small, so she would have an easier time nagivating around. Unlike Luna, who, more often than not, bumped into someone. Of course, when she did, the pony she bumped into would apologize profusely for being a simple peasant, daring to get in the way of Nightmare Moon or something along those lines.

I loved it.

Fluffy was getting paid for her efforts, of course. She wouldn't be an official employee; I just agreed with her that her pocket money would probably be more than anyone her age would ever need.

She liked the idea of that. Besides, since she wasn't going to school, she wouldn't have anything to do while I was away at work.

She also enjoyed spending time with Luna; I couldn't blame her. It was nice to see Luna actually enjoying herself, which she was for the most part. It was a rare sight indeed. Tonight, we were even honored by Princess Celestia herself. It truly was a dream come true for my business, it didn't feel real.

She had entered at a point in the evening, and of course, the entire restaurant fell silent and bowed down. Luna seemed a bit annoyed that her own royal status seemed like nothing in comparison.

I removed the lasagna from the oven and placed it on the counter, where I portioned it onto several different plates. Breezer scooped up a few servings, followed by Chatter and Fluffy. Then, I went on to make some more.

Such was the process. Giddy and his team had complete control of most of the other orders going out, but I would help out where I was needed while managing everything. It was nice.

Princess Celestia ordered a portion of the lasagna, and I wanted to personally deliver it to her as a friendly gesture. I removed my apron, adjusted my outfit, and washed my hands before grabbing the plate and heading for the swinging doors.

Violet came trotting in, and I had to swing around her in a wide arch to avoid crashing into her. She ducked under me.

This is getting ridiculous.

The noise level inside the restaurant was insane. Warm lights dimly lit the whole place, and a delightful smell of food lingered in the air. It was cold outside, but this building had become a heat source many ponies would long for. It made me smile to see how much joy I had been able to provide ponies by starting this business.

All the ponies by the tables were chatting loudly with each other, some drinking, some eating, and others just talking. It made me long for a night out with friends.

Some ponies nearby the kitchen door noticed me walking by, and one of the stallions I recognized called out with a raised glass. "Wonderful as always, Mr. Jean!"

I stopped for a moment and gave him a professional smile. "Glad to hear it, Mr. Pransa. Enjoy your night!"

They kept drinking and laughing as I passed, and I made my way through the crowded space to the stairs leading to the second floor. I walked by Minuette and Fluffy on my way to the staircase, and Fluffy didn't even notice me because she was so busy enjoying the attention all the customers were giving her.

She was cheered on as she started moving around the area with very flowy motions as the night went on. Ponies noticed this filly wearing my work uniform and found it adorable that she was working here. I wasn't sure many ponies knew she was my daughter, but nobody had made a case about it.

She naturally moved gracefully, but when she started getting comments about how cool it was to watch her move, she really started showing off. She would sometimes use her wings to float around, and sometimes it looked like she was just floating, not flying.

She moved her body so that the tips of her hooves barely moved off the ground, and she glid like a swan across the floor.

"Ooh! Fluffy Wings, you're such a showpony! I love it!"

"How graceful!"

"I have never seen a pony move like that!"

"Is she for sale?!"

I snorted and continued walking, knowing she would be alright. I was just glad to see her so confident in herself.

The second floor was slightly less packed with ponies than the first, and I saw the Princesses sitting by a table with a few of her guards accompanying her. We had to put extra chairs and tables downstairs to fit more ponies, but up here, there were fewer of those.

It was still packed with ponies, but it wasn't as tight as downstairs. Most of the elites sat up here, preferring to be above the rest, literally.

They could also see the beautiful view of the city from up here, which was what I preferred myself. There were floor-to-ceiling windows along the whole side of the wall leading out into the street; it was quite something.

Luna was up here, too, serving someone a little ways away. She was talking with them, and the ponies were talking back, so at least that was something. Baby steps.

I couldn't hear what they were talking about, but it seemed cordial, at least. The only thing bugging me was that Luna wasn't working, and we needed all hands on deck.

I would lecture her later. Maybe I could put something spicy in her food.

Celestia smiled warmly at me as I approached her table, and I bowed down slightly before serving her from her right side. "Thank you for your patronage, Princess Celestia. I hope the food hits the funny bone."

She giggled at my antics. "Oh, I'm quite sure it will." She turned to look at Luna, who was engaged in conversation. "I know there have been some hiccups for you recently, but I trust you are happy with how it's turned out now?"

I put my hands on my hips and smiled. "Yeah, I can honestly say that I am. I have no idea what I did to deserve this, but I feel blessed."

Her guards were sitting by her on the table, and I could tell they kept an eye out on all the ponies present without actually looking like they were paying attention to anything.

Celestia sipped some tea and hummed. "I'm glad to hear it, Jean. I am planning to meet your mother once I return to the castle tonight. Did she tell you that?"

I nodded. "Yeah, she wrote a letter saying she would be here this weekend. I think she's really looking forward to that."

She smiled warmly. "Yes, we haven't seen each other in a while, so it will be nice to catch up with her. We rarely have the chance, unfortunately. Why don't you join us after work? You're more than welcome to."

I nibbled on that thought. While it would be nice, I felt like I would be exhausted after work today. However... "Can I bring my daughter?"

Celestia nodded. "Of course. I would be delighted."

While I had spent a few visits with Luna in her tower, I still had not quite adjusted to spending time with the princesses. They treated me as a friend, which I was very appreciative of. It was just a little much for someone who considers themselves part of the average working class.

I looked over at Luna as I thought about her. She was still talking with a few ponies who were very interested in her presence, and it looked like they were having a very pleasant discussion. What they were talking about, though, was anyone's guess.

Celestia nudged my shoulder and whispered, "Perhaps you should get your employee back to work."

I grinned crossed my arms. "You read my mind."

After dragging the princess of the night with me downstairs like a child to continue her shift, we were greeted with the lovely atmosphere of the first floor of my restaurant. We saw Chatter Batter come around with some drinks on a tray, and she was followed by Violet and Fluffy Wings, who were serving other tables nearby.

Some ponies were leaving; others were entering. The ponies leaving had smiles on their faces, and the ponies entering looked excited to finally get settled. We truly were the centerpiece of Canterlot tonight.

Luna walked over to the kitchen and opened the door, and she almost got smacked by Breezer as he came out with a new batch of freshly baked rolls. He dodged her, and she barely managed to catch herself as she went tumbling out of the way.

She huffed and shook a hoof in the air after him. "Careful, Breezer! You almost caused a calamity!"

He smirked as he made his way through the crowd. "Aww, you know I'd never hurt ya, Princess!"

Luna scoffed at him as she entered the kitchen, and I chuckled at the interaction. I was glad to see how warmed up everyone was to her at this point; I was sure Luna enjoyed it deep inside.

Chatter walked by me as I went for the kitchen again. "Hey, boss. How's it going?"

I nodded and patted her shoulder. "All good, thanks Chatter. Keep up the good work out here, yeah?"

Chatter smirked. "You got it, boss." And with that, she continued her rounds.

I returned to my kitchen and saw that everyone had been keeping themselves busy. Giddy was at the helm of his team, sweating as he worked multiple spatulas in his magic. He was completely consumed in his work, barking orders left and right.

It made me proud to see how far the kid had come since he first started under me. He wasn't yelling orders to be mean; he did it for productivity. It kept the flow going, and at the moment, it looked like I could have a moment to rest while leaving this in the capable hands of my crew.

I clapped my hands to get everyone's attention. "All right, everyone! I just want to take a quick moment to tell you all that you've been doing an amazing job lately. Keep at it, and don't forget to breathe if it becomes too much, okay?"

Everyone took a break, and they looked surprised at my words. "I know a lot of stress comes with this job, so please reach out if you need someone to talk to. My door is always open."

I let those words hang in the air for a few moments to really let them sink in.

I clapped my hands again, twice. "On that note, I'm taking a few minutes to get some air. Back to work!"

It took a second of shared looks, but they all got back to work, and I went back out through the back door. Once out in the hallway, I put on my shoes, went for the back door to the building, and was greeted with the cold outside.

I saw warm steam coming out of the door, so I closed it behind me and took a moment to enjoy the cool air that coated my sweaty face.

I took a deep breath of the cold night air and closed my eyes. A chilly breeze coming through the alleyway sent chills down my body, and it felt really nice after being cooped up inside that oven.

I put my hands on my hips and exhaled deeply.

Behind me, I heard the door open again. I didn't turn around; I just continued looking out into the cold winter night. Whoever was behind me didn't say anything; I just heard them walk up to me and stop directly behind me. Then, I found two hooves holding around my waist.

"Yeah, I need a break too. Don't mind if I join you, do you?" The voice of Sugar Plum came from behind me.

I smirked. "And stay out here with you? Ew, no."

She playfully hit me with her hoof. "Jerk. You're not getting away from me that easily."

She rested her head on my back, and I could see the hot steam of air coming from her mouth appear from behind me. "When did you start doing motivational speeces at work, anyway?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. Just felt like I needed to keep everyone's spirits up. They looked like they needed it."

She snuggled up closer to my back. "You have been a real trooper, you know? I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me."

I smiled warmly and patted her hooves that were holding around me. "Of course, please don't thank me for that."

We stood there for a few seconds, enjoying each other's company. I didn't know what would become of our relationship, but I felt happy at that moment. I was finally able to share something with someone I really enjoyed spending time with, and I was happy about that.

Out of nowhere, my mother popped her face out from around the corner, which made me jump. "Bwalhgr!"

Sugar fell behind me, and my mother giggled as she and my dad emerged from the corner, dressed in winter garments. "Haha, I got ya! Whatcha doin' out here?"

Sugar sprung to her feet and stood like a stiff board next to me, trying to look like we totally weren't just getting really cozy. I adjusted my chef's jacket. "Just taking a break, mom! What the hell are you doing here?!"

My mother put her hands up defensively and walked up to us. "I'm heading up to see Celestia. She invited us up tonight. I thought I'd stop by and see if I saw my handsome son in action!"

My dad turned to Sugar, and she waved shyly at him. "Oh my, I see our little boy is quite preoccupied here, honey. Perhaps we should leave them alone?"

Sugar blushed slightly and looked away while I rolled my eyes and blushed. "Dad! Can you guys just get out of here?! I'll see you later, okay? Celestia invited me too a few minutes ago."

"Oh, she did? Is she here?" My mother asked curiously.

I told her about how she was currently enjoying a very tasty lasagna inside the restaurant, and we agreed that we would catch up later. They would be staying at the castle, so they would just go there and wait for Celestia to return.

I was very tired, but we would close in about an hour, so it wasn't a problem. I was sure we'd have a cozy night up at the castle and go home late. That was fine; it was the weekend anyway, so we wouldn't work the next day.

So, my parents finally returned from their retreat after weeks away. They went to see some good friends down in Ponyville, and they made sure to make their stay a fairly long one to give me the time I needed to get my head out of my ass, which was exactly what happened.

I played right into their hands and hooves.

We talked about what happened while they were gone, and even they were shocked at how well it all had turned out. I hated it when someone told me, 'I told you so,' and that wasn't made any easier when it was my parents doing it.

My parents had no issues letting Fluffy stay with me, but there was a bit of a problem concerning school. She had been attending school normally before coming here over the holidays, and now she would be staying here. So we informed her school that because of some family matters, she would start school in Canterlot next semester.

This decision gave us some time to get properly acquainted before she had a normal life here. The time going forward would be somewhat taxing for both of us, seeing that Willow was on her last thread these days. It would be hard, but we would have each other through it, which was the most important thing.

After a brief conversation with my parents and some remarks about Sugar moving in with me, they left us a few minutes later. I didn't have time to stand out all night, and we had to start telling ponies waiting in line in front of the restaurant that we would be closing soon to prevent them from waiting for nothing.

"Come on, let's get back and finish up for today. Ain't done yet." I patted Sugar's head and went for the door after my parents finally left.

She followed me inside, and when we entered the kitchen, we saw that many of my servers had gathered by the restaurant's door, peeking out into it. I could also hear quite the commotion coming from inside. There was clapping and cheering, and my servers joined the merriment.

"The fuck is going on, everyone?! I just had an amazingly awesome speech in front of everyone, so why is nobody working?" I yelled, which caused all of the ponies by the door to flinch and look back at me.

Chatter recovered quickly and trotted over to me. "You gotta see this!"

She grabbed my collar and pulled me toward the door. I pretended like I couldn't resist. "Hey! This is kidnapping!"

Sugar giggled behind me and followed us to the door. When I got there, I snapped my arm back from Chatter's grip and adjusted the sleeve before looking out through the swinging doors.

My eyes widened when I saw what was going on.

Some of the tables had been moved aside to make some space in the middle of the floor, and ponies had gotten up from their seats to observe what was happening in the middle of the space.

Fluffy was the source of the crowd's attention. She was dancing.

She moved like an angel, like a feather fluttering above water in the spring. It was like the restaurant had become a circus. Princess Luna and Celestia stood at the base of the stairs, watching the spectacle along with everyone else.

A pony was playing music on a cello that Fluffy was dancing to. Where the hell did that cello come from?!

A blue pony watching from the front of the crowd tossed Fluffy a ribbon, and a bunch of confetti shot out from her wrist.

"The Great and Powerful Trixie will grant you this ribbon; now show us what you can do!" She ushered her on.

Fluffy caught the ribbon in her mouth, and without missing a beat, it started swirling around her body like a hurricane. It was as if she had done it a million times, yet I didn't know if she'd ever touched one before.

Before I knew it, Fluffy was on her front hoof, body in the air, and the ribbon was swirling around every corner of her body but somehow not touching her at all. It was amazing to behold.

She started swinging around to the cheering ponies in the crowd, flying above their heads and swirling the ribbon behind her and around them. At some point, she started doing the motions so fast that it looked like she was creating symbols or drawings with the ribbon.

She was a natural, and I quickly joined in the cheering. I started clapping and tapping my feet.

At this point, my crew and I had left the kitchen and were standing out in the restaurant. Giddy was laughing with some of his team members, and my servers constantly made collective 'aww' sounds.

Nobody was eating anymore, so it didn't even matter that we weren't working.

Giddy appeared behind me while I was grinning my face off. "Dude, your daughter is amazing! How does she do that?"

I shrugged in disbelief, as I couldn't even answer that question. I was just as stunned as everyone else.

It was a wonderful moment I would carry with me and cherish for a long time. I couldn't have imagined that anything would make that moment better.

Just as I thought about that, though, it happened.

A bright light started shining, and it came from Fluffy. It started out dim as she flew around, but as if someone had turned on a light on her body, it lit up like a flashlight. She stopped momentarily and just hovered in the air with the ribbon hanging from her mouth, and everyone around her gasped as they observed the light show.

My staff and I stopped cheering and watched in shock, all of us gaping at the display. I was worried for a moment, but my worries stopped when the light faded only moments later around her flanks.

I couldn't properly register what had just happened before a loud cheer erupted inside the restaurant, and the sound deafened me. My mind did come to a conclusion fairly quickly, though.

Holy fuck! She got her cutie mark!

"I... I got my cutie mark!" Fluffy sputtered while she was looking down at her flanks. "I got my cutie mark!"

I felt a tear run down my cheek as I watched everyone around cheer for her. And she did a victory spin around the restaurant to show off her cutie mark. The gathered ponies congratulated her through the cheering and clapping as they checked out her cutie mark, which, from what I could tell, was a ribbon swirled around a feather, like a tornado.

It was beautiful, just like her.

Through the deafening sound and the amount of ponies, I saw Fluffy frantically looking around for something. It only took a second before her eyes landed on what she was looking for: me.

With tearful eyes, she called out for me. "Dad! I got my cutie mark!"

She called me...

I left my spot and ran to Fluffy. Ponies noticed our interaction and made room for me to get to her. It didn't take me long to get to my destination; we met halfway. She had crashed into me in a soul-crushing hug, and I hugged her back with all I could.

As she cried into my shoulder, I stroked her mane and faintly heard the ponies around us stomping their hooves for her. I broke the hug a few moments later and looked her in the eyes. "You got your cutie mark!"

Fluffy laughed as I held her up and showed her around like a trophy I just won. "She got her cutie mark!"

The crowd loved it, and cheered.

I spun her around in my arms; all the ponies in the restaurant laughed and smiled at us. I saw that ponies had gathered outside to look in through the windows, which were starting to fog up.

Princess Luna and Celestia watched us with smiles, and my staff were wiping their eyes. Through the cheering, I faintly heard the pony who tossed her the ribbon, Trixie, something or other, mutter, "Yes, yes, you're very welcome."

I turned Fluffy to face me and held her by her front hooves as I spun around with her. I was just so happy, I couldn't stand still. We laughed together as we shared this extraordinary moment we would remember forever.

I was sitting on Luna's balcony with a knocked-out Fluffy Wings in my lap. She was snoring softly, and her body moved with her breathing. It almost made me fall asleep, too.

I was sitting idly there on the balcony, reflecting on my night. I looked at Fluffy's cutie mark again and smiled, the memory of how she got it still fresh in my mind. I faintly saw a shooting star at the edges of my vision when I returned my gaze to the night sky.

It wasn't cold out here; it was actually quite warm. Luna had apparently used a spell to make it warm so she could read under the stars.

I heard the door to the balcony open up, and I looked over to see Luna quietly coming out to join me. She sat down next to us. "How is young Fluffy Wings?"

I looked down at Fluffy and smiled. "Completely drained, I'd say. She's had a big day today, and I think it's finally caught up with her."

Luna snorted and looked up at the sky as well. "It appears so."

I remembered our time in the dreamscape with Luna and how she was indirectly responsible for helping us get this far. "You know, a lot of this wouldn't have been possible without you, Luna."

I looked at the princess as she watched Fluffy sleep. She put her hoof on her chest and smiled bashfully. "Oh, I won't be so bold as to take all the credit. You are stronger than you think, Jean. That bravery came from within."

"Yeah, but you pushed us in the right direction. Seriously, thank you."

Luna smiled and looked up at the sky without answering. "It's a wonderful night, is it not?"

I agreed and returned to looking out at the stars. I didn't really know what I would do going forward. I had a new life with my daughter and wanted to do everything possible to make it count. I couldn't imagine life without her anymore.

As I sat there and observed the beautiful night sky, I relished the feeling of happiness that washed over me. I hadn't felt this content in a long time.

I looked down at Fluffy. She had been through a lot in her young life and deserved so much more. I wanted to give her the world, but I could start by giving her father back to her.

I stroked her mane and whispered softly, "You're going to be just fine."

The moment was then broken by a loud grumble from my stomach, which caused Luna to look at me funny. "Oh my, is the grand chef hungry?"

I rolled my eyes. "Ah, heh... yeah. I guess I was just too busy to forget about eating today."

She giggled at me and got up from her spot. "I will order you something from the kitchens. You stay here and look after your little one."

I would have preferred making something for myself, but I was too exhausted to think about working, so I thanked her, and she left us.

As the door opened, I could hear my mom and Celestia laughing about something or other. The whole night we spent at the castle had been a blast, but most of it was focused around celebrating my daughter.

No filly in history could have a better cutie mark celebration than Fluffy did. Literally, having the two rulers of our country hosting the celebration and being able to do it in the royal castle? What the fuck kind of privilege was that, anyway?

I gently stroked my daughter's mane, and it felt like she started purring. My heart exploded as I leaned my head back on the wall I was leaning against.

I started humming a song I remember my mother singing to me when I was a kid, and Fluffy slept on as I petted her. The stars twinkled brightly, and I felt like the more I looked at the night sky, the more it evolved into that beautiful dreamscape in Luna's magical dimension. As my vision faded slowly, millions of shooting stars lit the starry night.

I didn't even realize that I had gently drifted off to sleep.
