Not Losing You Again

A Passionate Confrontation

Twilight couldn’t shake this weird feeling about Starlight. It wasn’t anything negative per se, quite the opposite actually. She was quite fond of her former pupil.

The thing was, she had felt a strange surge of happiness whenever she was around. Happened since the Storm King invasion.

Her heart ached when being reminded of that incident, to think that she was so close to losing Starlight and their last conversation pre-rescue was her practically spitting at their friendship. She didn’t need to be told about how much that affected her, she knew Starlight was hurt.

Though after they made up, she couldn’t explain it but she had grown much closer with Starlight. Heck, she even made a vow to spend more time with the unicorn. Twilight didn’t know why, but it was an easy vow for her to keep.

But recently, one of her students in the School Of Friendship known as Cozy Glow tried to send the magic of Equestria to another realm, the worst part for Twilight was when she heard from Sandbar that she tried to take Starlight with it.

That basically meant that Twilight almost lost Starlight twice now. Twilight considered Cozy Glow too much of a threat to be left free for now, so she sent her to Tartarus. Maybe the time would come where the filly could receive redemption but for now, she had no choice. What happened was too fresh.

And so, Twilight was near Starlight’s bedroom, she had to make sure that Starlight was still here and not an illusion. It sounds paranoid but Twilight couldn’t risk it.

Twilight soon knocked the door and to her surprise and somewhat relief, Starlight opened up.

“Oh hey Twilight. You knocked?” Starlight asked with a smile.

“Yeah, I did. Is it okay if I… come in?” Twilight asked with a sheepish smile.

Starlight smiled warmly at the alicorn and shrugged, “I don’t see why not.” She said happily before letting her in.

Twilight took a breath and smiled, “That’s a good thing Starlight. I need to talk to you.”

“Oh okay. Did I do something wrong?” Starlight asked curiously.

“No no. You’re just fine.” Twilight smiled resssuringly before subconsciously adding: Perfect actually.

She shook it off, where did that thought come from?

“Look Starlight. I’m just worried about you sometimes.” Twilight sighed sadly as she twiddled her wings together.

“What do you mean? I’m sure I haven’t done anything extreme lately.” Starlight said a bit surprised, “I’m not sure if me banishing Discord from the school really counts as extreme though.”

“Again, it’s not you who’s worrying me, it’s basically, I worry about how safe you’ll be in the future with not only the Storm King invasion but now Cozy Glow almost sending you to another realm.” Twilight began to speak incredulously before adding softly, “I just worry that one day I’ll lose you.”

“But you haven’t lost me Twilight.” Starlight told Twilight reassuringly, “I’m still here.”

“Yeah but for how long? Chrysalis is still out there, and even with our most recent sighting of her back in our friendship retreat, she still escaped.” Twilight said sadly.

Starlight had to admit, she certainly could see the cause for concern, Twilight was practically one of her best friends, though Twilight kinda felt more than some average best friend, even more than Trixie and Sunburst.

“Twilight. I’m a bit worried about Chrysalis too, but she can’t hide forever. She’s not as much of a big threat without the changelings.” Starlight embraced Twilight softly, both Twilight and Starlight had to admit, they certainly found a certain level of warmth and safety in each other’s embrace.

“But Starlight, I just worry like this because you mean so much to me and I don’t know how I could live with myself if I lost you because I lo…” Twilight began going on a tearful rant before realizing what she was about to say, she finally realized why she felt so strange about Starlight.

“Twilight…” Starlight raised an eyebrow at the alicorn before Twilight spoke up, “Starlight. Can you close your eyes, I need to try something.”

“Okay.” Starlight seemed a bit weirded out by the request but did so anyway.

Twilight immediately took the back of Starlight’s head and leaned herself towards her, she was really about to do this, she was about to kiss one of her friends. As she leaned closer, she noticed Starlight wasn’t pulling away, Twilight knew she had to have noticed what was going on by now.

Either way, Twilight kissed Starlight, and at that point, she felt like bliss, all her worries were gone.

Starlight’s eyes opened immediately at seeing Twilight kiss her, she knew she could pull away at anytime, Twilight didn’t exactly have a tight hold on her, but for some reason, she didn’t want to. The kiss felt good so she let herself kiss back.

After a while, the two separated, and both looked at each other in shock, realizing what they had done. They no longer knew what this would mean for their bond.

“I-I should go.” Twilight said awkwardly, “Starlight, I-I don’t know what just happened but… I didn’t hate it.”

Starlight still seemed too shocked to give a reply, all she could muster was, “Me too.”

Twilight had then left the room, looking bewildered.

I just kissed Starlight, I just kissed Starlight, I just kissed Starlight, I just kissed Starlight, why did I kiss Starlight?

Though oddly enough, she wasn’t sure how she felt this way, Twilight couldn’t ever guess why she decided to kiss Starlight the way she did. She just did it.

She knew Starlight felt a similar way to Twilight, she did just kiss her back after all when she could have pulled away at any time she wanted, so there was at least some reassurance but Twilight wasn’t sure what to do next.

Though she knew two things, her friendship with Starlight was going to change due to this new development, and that the kiss felt so good.
