Distraught over her disability and the problems it's causing in her life, Scootaloo seeks comfort in the capable claws of Spike the Dragon, perhaps the only other resident of Ponyville who understands what it's like to be the only one of your kind unable to fly.

But then something happens that neither of them is expecting; a sudden burst of dragon magic that hasn't been seen in centuries. Now Scootaloo can fly as she's always dreamed. But is the change worth the price?
