Pon3s in Terrariaby spu313ChaptersPrologue: TricksChapter 1: Night FallsChapter 2: The First NightChapter 3: Getting OrganizedChapter 4: A Ray of UnderstandingChapter 5: Its Called What Now?Prologue: TricksPon3s in Terraria Prologue: Tricks My dearest Twilight Sparkle, Please gather your friends and meet me at the entrance to the Everfree Forest. Myself and the Elements of Harmony will be waiting there for you. This is a matter of utmost importance, please proceed with all speed. Do not let anypony else know what is going on. Have the others leave letters for their loved ones telling them that they are going on a mission with no definitive end time. Your teacher, Princess Celestia P.S: It is too dangerous for Spike. Make sure he does not see you depart but leave a letter explaining that you are on a secret mission for me and do not know when you will return. Twilight Sparkle read the letter again. It said the same thing. Well I guess I better go collect my friends. She left the sleeping Spike at home. The letter had arrived by pony mail, not through Spike. So, he didn’t even know of its existence. Twilight stopped by Carousel Boutique. Knocking on the door, she called out to Rarity. Rarity came to the door, looking ready to go to bed. “What brings you here at this time, darling?” “Celestia wants all of us to meet here at the edge of the Everfree as soon as possible. Get ready to go, it seems we have a mission. Meet me at the Sugarcube Corner in 20 minutes.” Having spoken, Twilight spun and galloped off to Sweet Apple Acres. After she notified Applejack, Twilight trotted to Fluttershy’s cottage. All this running is making me tired... Need to take it more slowly. Arriving at Fluttershy’s cottage, she told Fluttershy what was going on and asked her to get Rainbow Dash. Trotting back to the Sugarcube Corner, Twilight wondered what Celestia wanted. Its not normal for her to skip Spike. This must be super duper top secret. I wonder what it is... Maybe its a trap... Haha don’t be silly, Twilight. Who would impersonate the Princess? Her thoughts continuing to ramble, Twilight approached her destination. She was suddenly body slammed by a wall of pink. “Twilight what’s going on? My Pinkie Sense said there were secrets about that you had to tell me! Whatisitwhatisitwhatisitwhatisit?!” “Pinkie! Quiet! I’ll explain when the others get here!” Twilight exclaimed, pushing the excitable pink mare off of her. She then walked to Sugarcube Corner, with Pinkie bouncing along behind her. Twilight waited for her friends to arrive. When all of them were there, she addressed them as a whole: “Ok girls. You are probably wondering what is going on. Well, about fifteen minutes ago, I got a letter from Princess Celestia. The letter did not go through Spike, it came by courier. I opened it and read. It told us to meet, secretly, at the entrance to the Everfree Forest. Nopony can know where we are going. The Princess has a special mission for us, and she brought the Elements of Harmony. Are we ready to go?” After everypony said “yes,” she led off to the Everfree. ~~~ Twilight picked up her pace when she saw Princess Celestia waiting for them at the edge of the Everfree Forest. “Princess Celestia!” “Hello my dear Twilight. Hello everypony. We have a serious threat here. Line up so I can give you the Elements of Harmony, then I will tell you about the threat.” the ponies followed her orders and lined up single file. “No. Please line up so I can see all of you at once.” Once again obeying Celestia, the ponies lined up so that they were all visible to her at once. Celestia opened the box with the Elements of Harmony in it. Her horn glowed green. Wait, the Princess’s magic isn’t green... Twilight thought to herself, Oh no! Its an imposter! Twilight called upon her magic and her friends: “Its a trap!” Her horn glowing purple, she readied herself to charge the fake princess. However, before she could do anything, ropes flew out of the box and tied up everypony. A bolt of lightning flew from the imposter’s horn and encased Twilights, blocking her ability to do magic. The imposter flashed with green fire. “Queen Chrysalis!” six voices cried out in unison. They had been duped. “Yes, you obnoxious twits. It turns out that the threat that you had to deal with was... Yourselves!” The queen let out an evil laugh. “You won’t get away with this!” “I won’t? Didn’t you leave letters telling your loved ones not to worry and that you didn’t know when you would be back?” “Oh. Dang girls, she got us good.” “Yes I did. And to ensure that you will not be meddling with my plans ever again, I will not simply send you to a cave under Canterlot. That was far too simple. I have discovered a spell that will remove you from this dimension and dump you in another. I don’t know where that other is, but it is not here. Have fun everypony!” Green fire shot from Chrysalis’ horn and surrounded the six ponies, much like it did when Twilight was teleported to the caves under Canterlot. However, this time, it did not simply flash up. The ground dropped from under the bearers of the Elements of Harmony and they disappeared into a void. The flames then converged, closing the rift in between the two dimensions. ~~~ Twilight found herself and her friends floating in a black void. The, all of the sudden, she felt the tug of gravity. She and her friends started falling through nothingness. Slowly, out of the emptiness, a light emerged. It started as a pinprick but steadily grew in size. As it grew in size, its growing increased in speed. Soon the ponies were falling into the light. Everything flashed from black to white. ~~~ Twilight slowly got to her feet. She looked around. “Ahh! Everypony looks different! What happened?” “Ah don’t know Twilight, but y’all look weird.” the now 8-bit Applejack said. “Oh! Oh! What happened? Its a guessing game! I love guessing games! Are we -” Rainbow Dash cut the pink pony off. “We got turned into video game characters. Its a style called ‘8-bit art.’ Its based on old games.” “You play video games, Rainbow?” Five heads swiveled in her direction, obviously confused. Rainbow Dash looked at all the others, amused by their confusion. “What did you think I did when I was bored? Hey, what is that thing?” The other ponies looked at where she was pointing. From a nearby hill approached a funny looking animal. It walked on two legs, was almost completely covered in clothes, and only had a small amount of fur on its head. Pinkie immediately bounced towards it. “Hi! What’s your name? Mines Pinkie Pie!” The animal looked at her, then said, “They say there is a person who will tell you how to survive in this land... oh wait. That's me.” Chapter 1: Night FallsPon3s in Terraria Chapter 1: Night Falls Pinkie Pie was happy. Even though she was in a place she knew nothing about, there was somepony new here to make friends with! “Hi! What’s your name? I’m Pinkie Pie!” “Stars fall all over the world at night. They can be used for all sorts of useful things. If you see one, be sure to grab it because they disappear after sunrise." “Okay... What’s your name? What do you like doing? Where are you from? I’m Pinkie Pie and I like making friends and baking cupcakes and eating candy and partying and I come from Ponyville where are you from?” "In order for a room to be considered a home, it needs to have a door, chair, table, and a light source. Make sure the house has walls as well." “I know that silly! All houses have to have walls! Duh! What’s your name?” Pinkie got really close to the guide, her nose almost touching his. "To interact with backgrounds and placed objects, use a hammer!" Pinkie Pie sat on her haunches in frustration. She got up again. This time she pressed her nose against the Guide’s face, “WHAT. IS. YOUR. NAME?” “Ah think his name is Jake, sugarcube. Says so on his nametag.” The orange earth pony trotted up to Pinkie. “Ah think we best be leavin’ him alone. He doesn’t seem to be the friend making type.” "You should stay indoors at night. It is very dangerous to be wandering around in the dark." ~~~ Twilight sat on the ground, trying to figure out what to do. Ok. So. New world. Only two signs of friendly life: bunnies and the two-legged creature named Jake. No known hostile life. No sign of weather control, the sun and moon obviously are not raised by Celestia and Luna. What moves them? Jake was still talking at Applejack and Pinkie, so Twilight decided to listen in. "You should stay indoors at night. It is very dangerous to be wandering around in the dark." Ok. So we should stick in one place. Maybe build a house? Suddenly Twilight realized a weight on her back. She checked it. There was a saddlebag with the word “Inventory” written on it. Looking around, she saw that everypony had saddlebags like her. Checking inside the saddlebag, she found an short sword, axe, and pickax. Looking at them, she realized that they all had a list of stats under them, seemingly floating in midair. Odd. Twilight called upon her magic to pick up the ax. Nothing happened. She tried again. Still no result. She tried over and over, but nothing happened. “What is wrong with my horn?!” ~~~ Rainbow Dash paced the ground restlessly. She couldn’t fly. What blasphemy was this? She started jumping. Still nothing. She started pacing again. The physics of the land she was trapped in were infinitely annoying. She couldn’t fly, she could only walk in two directions, she could only walk at a constant speed, and all of her jumps were the same height. There was no variety, no freedom. She was confined by some arbitrary laws. This is SO dumb. Not cool at all. Rainbow was also aggravated because she did not feel tiredness at all. Typically she would be considering a nap at this time of day, but she didn't feel the need to sleep. All of this pacing should have tired her out at least a little bit. But she felt nothing. Finally giving up, Rainbow laid down and stared into the distance. ~~~ The bunny hopped quietly into the valley where the ponies were sitting. Fluttershy quickly ran over to it. “Ohmygosh a bunny! What is your name, bunny?” The bunny simply say there and looked at her. Then it hopped once one way, and twice the other way. “I guess I’ll call you Hoppy. If, um, that’s ok with you, of course.” The bunny hopped again. “Is that a yes?” No response. “Did I offend you?” The bunny hopped towards her. “Are you happy?” The bunny hopped to the base of a nearby hill. Fluttershy looked up the hill. At the top of it was a green blob thing. It jumped, covering half of the hill with it’s jump. “What are you?” The green slime jumped again. It landed on the bunny, killing it instantly. The bunny’s head landed at Fluttershy’s feet. Fluttershy shrieked and jumped back. “You just killed a bunny! DO. NOT. DO. THAT.” the full force of Fluttershy’s Stare was sent towards the green slime. It jumped at Fluttershy, damaging her for six life. Fluttershy noticed a health meter at the top right edge of her vision, but events were unfolding too quickly for her to realize how weird that was. The slime jumped at her again, this time sailing over her head. Unperturbed, the slime jumped another time, dealing a critical hit of eight damage to Fluttershy. Fluttershy couldn’t believe that she was being attacked. The slime hit her again. Something cracked inside her. She reached into her newly-found saddlebags and pulled out the object titled “copper ax” and started swinging it at the slime, her swing forced into an over-the-head arching pattern for reasons she could not comprehend. Not that she cared. She hacked at the slime until it died, at which point it dropped some gel and coins. They gravitated to her, defying the laws of physics as the neatly placed themselves in her saddlebags. Fluttershy looked up to see another slime at the top of the hill. She charged after it. ~~~ Rarity looked at Fluttershy in disgust. She waded through the leftover slime of that green thing... Simply disgusting! She tossed her mane. Walking over to Twilight, she found the purple unicorn having a mental breakdown. “What is the matter, darling?” “My horn. My horn! IT’S NOT WORKING!!!” “Calm down darling, everything will be ok.” Twilight turned towards Rarity with a crazed look on her face. “IT. WILL. NOT. BE. FINE. What will I do without magic?!” "If you gather 10 Fallen Stars, they can be combined to create an item that will increase your magic capacity." Rarity and Twilight both jumped at the addition of a new, male voice. The guide Jake stood behind them. “Fallen stars? Magic? Where do I get these stars?” "You can use your pickaxe to dig through dirt, and your axe to chop down trees. Just place your cursor over the tile and click!" Twilight looked at Jake in utter confusion. Rarity was dumbfounded. What? How does that even make sense? Does he just spew random information? What’s a cursor? "If you combine lenses at a Demon Altar, you might be able to find a way to summon a powerful monster. You will want to wait until night before using it, though." “What? Why would I want a monster?! HOW DO I GET STARS?!” "If you see a pot, be sure to smash it open. They contain all sorts of useful supplies." Rarity bored of Jake’s meaningless information. She left Twilight to interrogate him. Suddenly, gel flew from the hill and landed on her. It only touched her for a moment before gravitating to her saddlebags. As it entered her saddlebag, white floating text appeared before Rarity: Gel (2). However, the odd floating text was the least of her worries. The gel had touched her. What is this? What is it made of? It’s from a dead animal! Omygosh! Rarity passed out, but her magic couch was not there to save her. She hit the ground head first, pushing her further into oblivion. ~~~ Applejack looked at the trainwreck that was her group of friends. Fluttershy was going crazy on the slimes, Rarity was out cold, Twilight was alternating between yelling at Jake and running around looking for stars, and Pinkie was just sitting on the ground. Applejack decided that she should follow Jake’s advice and build a shelter. She assumed that it would have to be out of wood, she she pulled the ax out of her saddlebags. She swung at a tree. Her leg was forced into an over the head arc. This is a mite bit weird... However, Applejack kept swinging. The tree eventually burst into a shower of wooden bits and floated into her saddlebags. Text appeared in front of her: Wood (20). Ok, new place, new rules. She moved on to the next tree. ~~~ Pinkie Pie watched as Twilight yelled at Jake. He appeared unflustered and continued to give out random bits of information. Eventually, he started repeating himself. She looked away. Off in the distance she saw Applejack cutting down trees. Maybe AJ is starting to get a house made. Oh! She needs help! Pinkie rushed over to Applejack. “Hey AJ! How can I help?” “Could ya start leveling the ground? Ah’m getting these trees, but we need a proper ground to lie down a floor.” “Okie dokie lokie!” ~~~ Rainbow Dash saw Applejack and Pinkie working on the terrain and trees. Finally, something to do. She went over to see what she could do. “Hey AJ, how can I help?” “Could ya go fetch Fluttershy? I’m a bit worried about her.” “Alright. I’ll get her back in ten seconds flat.” Rainbow Dash rushed off to get Fluttershy. ~~~ Fluttershy looked out over the small plain. No slimes in slight. She checked her bags. She had ninety gel, one silver coin, and thirty copper coins. She forgot how many slimes she killed. But she remembered every single bunny she had seen mercilessly slaughtered by the evil green blobs. Thirteen. All of them had been avenged, but it was not enough. They should never have died. Fluttershy decided it would be her personal mission to eliminate anything that threatened the bunnies. If it touched a bunny, it would pay. With its life. “Fluttershy! Get over here!” The sound of Rainbow Dash’s voice brought Fluttershy out of her reverie. She walked back up the hill and down to the other side. To her surprise, the valley the ponies had landed in was now devoid of trees and level. Applejack had placed a little bit of wood down on the ground and was now standing next to a small table. Rarity was still passed out on the ground, but Twilight was next to Applejack at the table. The sun was low in the sky, and the light was fading fast. “Um.. What happened?” “Well, Jake said we should build shelter before nightfall. So we are. Only, its getting close to nightfall and we are nowhere near done...” “Who’s Jake?” “He’s the guide. The twoleg thing. Also, can I have some of that gel? We need it for torches.” Fluttershy took thirty of the gel out of her pack and tossed it to Rainbow Dash. It floated into her pack. “Cool. Now lets get these torches planted.” ~~~ Rarity woke up to an artificially light environment. She looked around. She was lying on a wooden floor. To her right and left she saw her friends working frantically to get walls and doors up. They had already put torches and a roof up. Oh dear, I must have fainted. She got up and looked around. Hearing a growl behind her, she turned to see what it was. A bipedal like Jake was approaching. However, when it entered the torchlight, she saw that it was green and it’s flesh was peeling off. Rarity’s eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fell with the night. Chapter 2: The First NightPon3s in Terraria Chapter 2: The First Night Twilight placed another wood wall, wiping the sweat off of her forehead. She and her friends were putting the finishing touches on the rough house they had constructed, just in time for night to fall. As she continued to place walls, she thought about how weird things were in this new world. All I did was get close to the workbench, and I wanted to make something. Out of nowhere, in thin air, a list of things I could make appeared. I moved it around, looking at all the stuff, and decided to make a wooden broadsword. And then, poof — it just appeared in my inventory. That’s just not normal! Ugh... Well, I gave the broadsword to Fluttershy, and made some walls out of the wood in my inventory. And now, here I am, placing those walls. I’m glad we’re almost done with the house, it’s almost night time. Once I’m done with this, I’ll go and place a door over in that gap to the outside. Wait, why didn’t we do that first? That way we would be more secure... Oh well, no harm done, I guess... *THUMP* Twilight looked over from the wall she was placing. Rarity was lying on the ground. She fainted AGAIN?! Bemused, Twilight looked up at the empty doorway. “AHHHHHHH!” Standing at the door was a bipedal like Jake, but this one was green and decaying. That’s right, it was actually decaying. Looking at it more intensely, Twilight saw some white text above it’s head. Zombie 45/45. Not wanting to assume automatic hostility, Twilight started to approach it slowly. “Hello?” The zombie touched Rarity and dealt her a hefty amount of damage. “Excuse, me? EXCUSE ME? You. Do. Not. Hurt. My. Friends!” Fluttershy yelled from across the one-roomed house, unsheathing her new wooden sword and and charging over towards the zombie. The zombie hit Rarity again, unperturbed. Then Fluttershy hit it with the full strength of her broadsword. She pushed him out the door and into the night, landing hit after hit. “Fluttershy, wait! It’s dark outside!” Fluttershy just kept going, attracting more zombies towards her. Ugh. Guess I’ll have to go out there. Twilight crafted another two broadswords and twenty one torches. She tossed a sword to Pinkie. “Catch! I’ll need you to cover my back while I place torches.” “Okie dokie lokie!” “AJ, Rainbow, and Rarity, finish this house as fast as you can, then get yourselves some weapons. This is going to be a long night.” With that, Twilight readied the torches in her mouth and put the sword where she could reach it easily. She had noticed earlier that she only ever had enough room to use one object at a time, but could place up to nine other objects where she could reach them and switch between objects almost instantly. She believed that this would prove helpful later on. Twilight and Pinkie sallied forth from the empty doorway, with Pinkie in front. Twilight placed a torch and they moved on. They walked to where it began to darken again, then Twilight placed another torch. They continued in this manner all across the flat of the pony-made plain as the got closer and closer to the hill. Still no sign of Fluttershy... She must have gone over the hill. We have to help her! As they crested the hill, Twilight noticed some shapes flying above her. “Pinkie! Above you!” Pinkie looked up just in time to see a dark shape diving at her. She jumped and swung her broadsword, hitting the beast. As it bounced off her sword, Twilight brought the light closer. She planted a torch in the ground and pulled out a broadsword. The shape dived again. This time, they waited until it got close enough for them to see. It was a disgusting, giant flying eye as big as their heads. The text above it read Demon Eye 54/60. Pinkie and and Twilight both swung in unison, damaging the Demon Eye further. They kept attacking until it exploded and showered them with pieces of eye, which quickly disappeared. Twilight got a lens and some copper coins. She looked at Pinkie. “There have to be more of those out there. We have to go help Fluttershy!” “Yep! We have to protect her from those meanie things!” Pinkie continued to talk, but Twilight zoned out. She started advancing with the torches. Then, at base of another hill, she saw a large group of moving shapes. Assuming that this was Fluttershy, Twilight charged ahead. As she neared, she heard the sounds of hacking, slashing, and hurting. Then she heard Fluttershy call out. “Help! There’s too many!” Twilight tried to go faster, but the physics of the land kept her at an agonizingly slow pace. Just then, a light flashed out of the sky and landed next to Fluttershy, destroying all the zombies and eyes it touched. For the second it was on the ground, it lit up the area. Then it flew into Fluttershy’s pack, plunging her into darkness. She was temporarily dazzled until a Demon Eye flew down and hit her, taking her life points to a new low. Before she could react, a zombie that had escaped the star’s wrath hit her. All the items exploded from her and she disappeared. Text appeared at the bottom of Twilight’s vision: Fluttershy’s entrails were ripped out by Zombie. “NOOOOOOO!!!” Twilight walked as fast as she could over to the spot where Fluttershy had perished. She picked up all of Fluttershy’s belongings, including the Fallen Star which had saved her life but was also the cause of her death. She looked around for a body, but none was there. Pinkie arrived soon after, her eyes becoming as wide as dinner plates. “No... no... she can’t be... NO!” “She is, Pinkie. There’s nothing we can do.” Twilight broke down on the spot and cried. Pinkie’s hair deflated and she stared off into the horizon. Pinkie’s sadness turned to rage when she saw the zombies that had taken her friend. Bloodlust gleamed in her eyes. Letting out a savage yell, Pinkie attacked the zombies with a scary ferocity. She slew the zombies and chased after the Demon Eyes, slaying them one by one. When there was nothing left to slay, she started pacing back and forth. Twilight got up and patted her on the back. “It’s time to go, Pinkie. We have to tell the others.” Pinkie only nodded roboticly. Twilight turned and began to walk back up the hill. As she crested it, she ran into another pony. “Hi girls. Did you get my stuff?” Twilight started at the apparition in front of her. Fluttershy was alive and well. She was standing in front of her. “I.. but... you.. the zombies... the Eyes... YOU DIED!!!” “Yeah. It was weird. But then I appeared back at the house without my stuff, so I thought I should come and get it back.” Twilight could only stare at Fluttershy. Pinkie, on the other hand, was more than willing to accept the fact that her friend was alive. Her mane poofed back up and she tackled her with a big hug. “Fluttershy! You’re okay!” Wrestling an elated Pinkie off of her, Fluttershy turned back to Twilight. “Rainbow Dash had an explanation for what happened. She called it ‘respawn’ or something like that. We should go and talk to her. Also, Rarity was really excited because she figured out how to make a bow and some arrows. She wanted to show you! Oh, and the house looks great now.” The three ponies turned back towards the house. Twilight looked up at the moon. It was already three fourths of the way through the sky. Time here travels quickly. When they finally arrived back at the house, it was indeed completed. It was a small, one roomed cottage with two doors and ample torchlight. A furnace burned in the background next to the crafting table. The ponies listened while Rainbow Dash tried to explain respawn. “It’s like you die but you don’t, you go back to a checkpoint. You can’t die forever, but every time you do die there’s a penalty of time spent dead.” “So you don’t die.” “Well... It’s not that you don’t die it’s more like...” “So you do die?” “No. You do and you don’t. It’s complicated, okay? Like, you die, but you... I mean, you... I...” she stuttered, before sighing. “I give up.” Just then there was a knocking on the door. Twilight went to go see who it was, opening it. “Hi th—OH SWEET CELESTIA!” Three zombies walked through the doorway. Twilight managed to hit all of them at once with her sword. Fluttershy hit them again. An arrow smashed into one of them. Another arrow. More sword hits. More arrows. Eventually all three zombies were dead. “Woo hoo! Teamwork!” After closing the door to ward off any more creatures of the night, bro-hoofs were shared all around. Then Rainbow spoke up. “Is it just me or... or can the rest of you see through the walls too? Like, if you concentrate really hard...” Twilight concentrated really hard on looking through the walls. Sure enough, she could see outside. She looked down. She could see a couple hoofs into the dirt, enough to know that there was a deposit of shiny orange metal under the house. Well. More weird physics. Awesome. “Girls, there’s copper under the house. We should go get it.” “Well it’s good that the moon just set and that the sun is rising then, isn’t it?” Chapter 3: Getting OrganizedPon3s in Terraria Chapter 3: Getting Organized As the world shifted from day to night, Fluttershy noticed music playing in the background. Funny, I never noticed that before. Exiting the door, she saw a green slime. A smile crept onto her face. “Fluttershy, don’t. We need you over here.” Fluttershy slowly turned away from the slime, disappointment evident in her expression. As soon as she came back into the house, Twilight began discussing the agenda for the day. “Okay. So, I’m not tired. Are any of you tired?” Heads and manes shook around her. “At all? Even in the slightest bit?” Twilight’s second query also came back negative. “Okay then. Same here. Since it appears we don’t currently need sleep, lets keep going. “Applejack, I need you to figure out everything you can through Jake. Ask him about ‘crafting’, do anything you can to get any information. I also need you to build other work stations and increase our supply of arrows. See if there’s a furnace or something we can use. “Pinkie, I need you and Fluttershy to explore a little. Go right and left, but not too far. Take a sample of any new object you see. “Try to keep the slime killing to a minimum, Fluttershy. But, if there’s a hostile new creature, kill it and see what we can do with it. “While you’re doing that, Rainbow Dash and I are going to go get that copper, then keep digging down to see if we can find anything else. “Rarity, I want you to work on expanding the house. Do what you can with what we have. Don’t worry too much on how it looks. By the end of the day, I want each of us to have our own rooms. I also want Jake to have a room on a separate floor. “Rainbow and I are going to hollow out the area under the house, so make that a room to keep our ‘crafting’ stations. AJ will help you once she gets the information and weapon supply taken care of. Any questions? Good. We meet back at dusk. Let’s all stay inside tonight, ok?” With that done, Twilight stepped outside the door and started digging. Rainbow placed platforms over the now-empty space next to the door, then joined her. ~~~ Pinkie Pie had never realized how much she bounced until she couldn’t bounce anymore. While in Equestria she defied every law of physics known to anypony, here she was confined by physics. And she didn’t like it. She trudged along at the constant pace she was confined to in this world, never able to go faster, never able to go slower. That REALLY annoyed her. Her jumps didn’t help either. They were almost always a constant arc, always the same height. She could change direction in midair or stop forward momentum altogether, but that was it. All of her actions followed rules. All of her actions made sense. And it was a thorn in her side. But Pinkie decided to temporarily ignore the thorn. She was exploring, and exploring was fun! New places, new friends (hopefully). Gel (2) Pinkie walked into some gel that Fluttershy hadn’t picked up. Pinkie looked ahead and saw Fluttershy viciously attacking a green slime. What happened to her? She was the sweetest little thing... But this land has turned her into a killing machine. She just kills all of those things, not caring about it... Will that happen to all of us? Will we all lose sight of what we are? Can I throw parties here? ~~~ Rainbow Dash helped Twilight mine out another vein of copper. They had dug out a room-sized hole under the house, and had found a natural cave a little ways off. This ‘seeing-through-the-ground’ thing was really weird. It wasn’t x-ray vision, but somehow Dash could tell what types of blocks were in her immediate vicinity. And it wasn’t just a feeling — she could visualize them too. It was just odd. It bothered her. This land seriously wasn’t normal. It had weird rules that confined her. Maybe video game characters felt this way, too. She had never thought what it would be like to be stuck in a video game... I don’t like being a video game character. This sucks. Suddenly. a slime jumped from the unexplored black depths of the cave. As she mechanically bisected it with her sword, she reminded herself to plant more torches so that she would know where everything was. She looked over at Twilight. The egghead seemed to be infatuated with a plant that blinked every so often. Twilight swung a sword at it, harvesting the plant. “It’s called Blinkroot!” she exclaimed, happiness evident in her features. Congratulations. Remind me where the part was that said I should care? Rainbow went back to placing torches and advancing down the cave. This spelunking, though occasionally interesting, was very boring. Place torch. Move forward. Maybe jump once or twice over a hole or up an incline. Place another torch. Move forward. Same thing, over and over again. Barely paying attention to her surroundings, Rainbow kept going. She half-heartedly attempted to jump over a large hole, but didn’t make it. Her wings refusing to move, Rainbow’s screams echoed back to her as she fell down a large hole. When she finally slammed into the stone at the bottom, she received ninety-nine points of fall damage. The impact bore a disturbing lack of pain, considering it almost killed her, but fear quickly crawled into the space where pain should have been. Ohmygosh that was close... She placed a torch, lighting up the dark cavern just in time to see a skeleton wearing a miner’s helmet charging at her. Rainbow Dash’s flailing about was finally stopped by Undead Miner. ~~~ Applejack had completed her mission. Jake had a crafting thingy that he let her use after she listened to a random bit of information. She didn’t exactly know what this thing was, but it told her what she could make with certain materials. It was a box, but at the same time it was just a flat square. It was physical and not physical at the same time. Applejack decided that what it was didn’t matter — science was not a field she excelled in. Unless it was apple science. But as far as she could tell, there were no apples here, so she stuck to building. Building she understood. Now that she had a semi-reliable source of crafting information, she turned to go help Rarity. The drama queen was being a pain in the flank, complaining whenever possible about the work and how she was going to get dirty. “Look darlin’, Ah know you don’t wanna get dirty, but we all have ta do what we need ta to get this place running. Besides, look at yerself — you’ve been workin’ for hours and you’re not dirty or sweaty. Workin’ some more ‘pparently ain’t gonna change that. That’s just the way this land works.” “But it’s so--” “No buts. We’re in this together. All of us. And we got ta do our part.” Rarity rolled her eyes, “Fine!” Applejack left the house and went to go collect more wood for Rarity. She trusted Rarity to make new rooms and decorate, but she knew it would take some time to get the prissy unicorn to actually go outside and collect the needed materials herself. What was with her, anyway? The dirt in this world didn’t stick to your hooves or your coat or mane — chunks it stayed in a uniform block-shape, and those individual blocks never broke apart. Rarity had absolutely no reason to be fussing so much, but apparently she wouldn’t listen to reason. So, Applejack did it herself. Having harvested all the trees in the valley, Applejack decided to go over the hill to the right. She harvested a number of trees, collecting the acorns and watching out for slimes. Having completed her tree-cutting, she returned to the house. Rarity had added two rooms and was working on a third. Applejack left her the wood, then went off to plant some trees with the acorns she’d collected. As she passed through the main room, she saw some text appear at the bottom of her vision. Rainbow Dash’s flailing about was finally stopped by Undead Miner. Applejack stopped and stared at the text as it slowly faded. Rainbow died? Didn’t see that comin’... As she completed that thought, Rainbow Dash suddenly appeared in the main room of the house. “Hey AJ!” “Rainbow! What happened?” “I fell. Almost died. Then a skeleton finished me off. I hope Twilight gets my stuff...” Suddenly, text appeared at the bottom of everypony’s vision. Twilight Sparkle: Hey, does this work? Can everypony see this? Twilight Sparkle: I think I figured out how to communicate with everypony from afar... Twilight Sparkle: I’ll explain how it works later. I got RD’s stuff, but everypony needs to Twilight Sparkle: come home. For some reason I can only put a few words here at a Twilight Sparkle: time... Applejack started at where the words had been, “What in tarnation? Rainbow, did you see that?” “Yep. That was weird. Well, everypony’s coming home, right?” A voice rang out from the other side of the house, “No! I’m not done yet! They can’t come home yet! I still have three more rooms!” “Chill, Rarity. It’s okay. Twilight won’t expect it to be done anyway.” “Let’s go help her, Dash.” The two ponies joined Rarity to help her finish up the rooms while they waited for Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy to return. A/N: Huge thanks to my editor Garuuspike. He majorly redid some sections, making them much better than I could ever have made them. He also formatted Twilight's opening speech from the wall of text I had written it in... Go check out his page! Chapter 4: A Ray of UnderstandingPon3s in Terraria Chapter 4: A Ray of Understanding Twilight walked into the house to find Jake milling about the main room. Seeing nopony else in the area, she concentrated on looking through walls into the surrounding area. She saw Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash working hurriedly to finish the last rooms before everypony got back. Twilight: Rainbow, I’m dumping your things in the main room. Off to find Pinkie and Flutter Twilight: shy. With that, Twilight exited the house and went right. ~~~ Fluttershy sliced through the last of another slime, a grim smile on her face. They will all die. Every single one. She continued to go to forward, or right, or whatever it was. Directions in this world were confusing. As she went forward, Fluttershy noticed the environment getting darker. Looking down, she saw that there was purple grass. What is this? “Hey Fluttershy, the grass is purpley!” “Yes. I wonder...” Fluttershy was still looking at the grass when a big purple monster came flying towards her, its pincers opened hungrily. With a yelp, she jumped back and started swinging her sword in a frantic attempt to keep it at bay. As her first few hits landed with very little damage, she glanced at the health meter above its head. Eater of Souls 36/40 Fluttershy kept swinging her sword, keeping the monster away. She suspected that if it hit her, it would not be good. As it were, she was barely damaging it. “Pinkie! I need help! That is, if you’re not too busy...” An arrow flew over her head and struck the monster. Thank Celestia... Working as one, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy managed to bring the monster down to low health. However, just when it seemed they were about to kill it, more monsters appeared on the horizon. Looking at their health and name tags, Fluttershy saw that they were in a world of hurt. Big Eater 46/46 Big Eater 46/46 Little Eater 34/34 Little Eater 34/34 “Um Fluttershy, I think its time to panic...” Rainbow Dash’s flailing about was finally stopped by Undead Miner. “I think so too Pinkie...” Both Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy turned and ran. Well, walked. There wasn’t much of running going on when they were confined to a constant speed. Looking over her shoulder, Fluttershy saw that the monsters were faster than they were. “Pinkie, they’re gaining!” Twilight Sparkle: Hey, does this work? Can everypony see this? Twilight Sparkle: I think I figured out how to communicate with everypony from afar... Twilight Sparkle: I’ll explain how it works later. I got RD’s stuff, but everypony needs to Twilight Sparkle: come home. For some reason I can only put a few words here at a Twilight Sparkle: time... Pinkie Pie responded to Fluttershy’s distress by launching off a couple arrows at the leading monsters. Fluttershy stopped and swung her sword, knocking back another of the monsters. The two ponies continued fleeing towards the house, occasionally pausing to hit some of the closer monsters. Finally, one of them hit Fluttershy, damaging her for 25 hitpoints. “Ahh!” This hit started a ball rolling, one that left Fluttershy with only 10 hitpoints of life left and Pinkie Pie with 30. None of the monsters had been killed. Pinkie and Fluttershy resigned themselves to fate and waited for the next attack by the monsters. However, as the monsters descended, arrows flew into them, interrupting the attack. “Pinkie! Fluttershy! Get over here and let’s finish these beasts!” Twilight stood on a neighboring hill, bow in hoof. She unleashed another volley of well aimed arrows, killing two of the damaged monsters. Fluttershy and Pinkie rallied at the sight, a new determination to live taking place of the resignation in their hearts. Fluttershy used her sword to keep the monsters away from Pinkie, who shot arrows into the crowd of attacking Eaters. Soon the Eaters were all dead, thanks to the teamwork of the three ponies. “Ok you two. Lets get you home.” With that, Twilight led the two ponies home. Fluttershy noticed that despite her low health, she could not find any wounds nor did she feel true pain. What a weird world this was indeed. ~~~ Twilight led the two battered ponies into the main room then called the other three down. Looking at the group, she began to explain the messaging system she had figured out, “Ok. So you need to concentrate on sending a message to everypony. Then, you’ll feel a weird sensation. After that, think what you want to say letter by letter.” Pinkie Pie: LYKE TIS? Twilight face-hoofed. “Pinkie, what is that atrocious excuse for the Equestrian language?” “I dunno. I can’t concentrate long enough to spell stuff!” Rainbow Dash: This is cool. Not a lot of room tho, gonna have to shorten to txtspk. “What’s t-x-t-s-p-k?” Rainbow looked at the confused faces of her friends. “You seriously don’t know text speak? Its used in video games because there’s not a lot of room to put stuff down.” “Oooooooh,” five voices said in unison. “Don’t any of you game?” Rainbow was greeted by five heads shaking in unison. “Ugh. Wonderful. Speaking of games, this world seems to be close to a sandbox game I played ages ago... I stopped playing it ages ago because it was boring, but other ponies said it got a new update that added a whole new level to play... What was it called? T-something... The updates stopped on it though, so I never got back into it.” “Rainbow, what are you talking about?” “Games. Computer games. I can’t believe nopony here plays them... The game I’m thinking of, it was a sandbox game with zombies and stuff. It was 8-bit and 2D. What was it called? Why can’t I remember?” “Sugarcube, Ah think y’all’s brain got messed up by that skeleton.” “Oh! I remembered the game! The game this reminds me of, its called Terraria!” Chapter 5: Its Called What Now?Pon3s in Terraria Chapter 5: Its Called What Now? “Its called what now? Terraria?” Rainbow nodded, “Yeah! Terraria. It was a 2D sidescrolling retro game kinda like Minecraft, but with more monsters!” “Meinkraft? What is that?” “A sandbox slash creativity game. You can build almost anything in it! And Terraria was like that but 2D and more focused on monster killing and ore progression.” “Well, you were saying real words, but I have no idea what they meant.” “They mean that like the game is for making things and killing monsters and the nicer the things look the better they are!” “Oooook. So what do we do?” “We must go deeper and mine more ore. We require more minerals!” Rainbow paused, expecting a response of some sort. Instead, she was greeted by blank stares and crickets chirping. “Seriously, no one got that? Starcraft? Yes? No?” Still more blanks stares. “Ok, I give up. Anyway, we have to mine deeper and progressively get better items, starting with copper, then going iron, silver, gold, special, hellstone, cobalt, mithril, and adamantite, if I remember correctly. There are a bunch of bosses we’ll defeat on the way, like Eye of Cthulu, Skeletron, Wall of Flesh, and Eater of Worlds. I didn’t log that many hours in Terraria, so I don’t know what’s after that. Oh! Also the guide and other NPCs don’t have meaningful dialogue at all.” “Whaaa?” “You’re just spewing nonsense, sugarcube.” “We are going to get bosses?” “Whats an NPC?” “Wall of Flesh sounds like an absolutely disgusting fellow.” Rainbow facehoofed, unable to take the total lack of any gaming knowledge displayed by her compatriots. “You know what, forget that. Let’s just keep exploring.” “You’re weird, you know that?” “Yes. Now let’s go!” “Go where?” Rainbow rolled her eyes, “Mining, duh. Isn’t that what we were talking about?” “No...” “Well, let’s go mine.” Her mind made up, Rainbow retrieved her items from the floor of the main room, then proceeded to move towards the small mine she and Twilight had made. ~~~ As the sun set, the house and main section of the mine were done. Jake the Guide was given a room on the fifth and top floor, while the girls had rooms on the second, third, and fourth floors. The main room, located on the ground floor, was populated by torches, a table, and some chairs. Below it was the basement, where sat the workbench, some chests, and a fireplace. The girls sat back and admired their work while wondering at their ability to see the whole house at once from the main room. “Its like I’m looking at a screen, while at the same time looking ahead of me. This is going to take a lot of getting used to.” “Yeah but it makes sense - if we’ve been transported to a game world that isn’t played in first person, then we’d have to simultaneously see what a player would see while being ourselves.” “Darling, once again, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” “Nevermind. Let’s just settle in for the night.”
Prologue: TricksPon3s in Terraria Prologue: Tricks My dearest Twilight Sparkle, Please gather your friends and meet me at the entrance to the Everfree Forest. Mines Pinkie Pie!” The animal looked at her, then said, “They say there is a person who will tell you how to survive in this land... oh wait. That's me.”
Chapter 1: Night FallsPon3s in Terraria Chapter 1: Night Falls Pinkie Pie was happy.
We should go get it.” “Well it’s good that the moon just set and that the sun is rising then, isn’t it?”
Chapter 3: Getting OrganizedPon3s in Terraria Chapter 3: Getting Organized As the world shifted from day to night, Fluttershy noticed music playing in the background.
The game this reminds me of, its called Terraria!”
Chapter 5: Its Called What Now?Pon3s in Terraria Chapter 5: Its Called What Now?
