Chapter 5: Its Called What Now?
“Its called what now? Terraria?”
Rainbow nodded, “Yeah! Terraria. It was a 2D sidescrolling retro game kinda like Minecraft, but with more monsters!”
“Meinkraft? What is that?”
“A sandbox slash creativity game. You can build almost anything in it! And Terraria was like that but 2D and more focused on monster killing and ore progression.”
“Well, you were saying real words, but I have no idea what they meant.”
“They mean that like the game is for making things and killing monsters and the nicer the things look the better they are!”
“Oooook. So what do we do?”
“We must go deeper and mine more ore. We require more minerals!” Rainbow paused, expecting a response of some sort. Instead, she was greeted by blank stares and crickets chirping. “Seriously, no one got that? Starcraft? Yes? No?” Still more blanks stares. “Ok, I give up. Anyway, we have to mine deeper and progressively get better items, starting with copper, then going iron, silver, gold, special, hellstone, cobalt, mithril, and adamantite, if I remember correctly. There are a bunch of bosses we’ll defeat on the way, like Eye of Cthulu, Skeletron, Wall of Flesh, and Eater of Worlds. I didn’t log that many hours in Terraria, so I don’t know what’s after that. Oh! Also the guide and other NPCs don’t have meaningful dialogue at all.”
“Whaaa?”
“You’re just spewing nonsense, sugarcube.”
“We are going to get bosses?”
“Whats an NPC?”
“Wall of Flesh sounds like an absolutely disgusting fellow.”
Rainbow facehoofed, unable to take the total lack of any gaming knowledge displayed by her compatriots. “You know what, forget that. Let’s just keep exploring.”
“You’re weird, you know that?”
“Yes. Now let’s go!”
“Go where?”
Rainbow rolled her eyes, “Mining, duh. Isn’t that what we were talking about?”
“No...”
“Well, let’s go mine.”
Her mind made up, Rainbow retrieved her items from the floor of the main room, then proceeded to move towards the small mine she and Twilight had made.

As the sun set, the house and main section of the mine were done. Jake the Guide was given a room on the fifth and top floor, while the girls had rooms on the second, third, and fourth floors. The main room, located on the ground floor, was populated by torches, a table, and some chairs. Below it was the basement, where sat the workbench, some chests, and a fireplace.
The girls sat back and admired their work while wondering at their ability to see the whole house at once from the main room.
“Its like I’m looking at a screen, while at the same time looking ahead of me. This is going to take a lot of getting used to.”
“Yeah but it makes sense - if we’ve been transported to a game world that isn’t played in first person, then we’d have to simultaneously see what a player would see while being ourselves.”
“Darling, once again, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Nevermind. Let’s just settle in for the night.”
