Cog and Steel

I was alone in the world

My name is Cog. I am a orphan that, at a young age, was adopted by the military and forced to train in it. I lived all of my life training. From when I was 4, till today, which I am now 19. Something made me a bit different though. Something that happened that fateful day.

FLASHBACK

"Come on Cog! Don't finish this course and no dinner for you!" The drill sarge yelled at me "Come on, we dont have all day!"

The rain was falling that day. I had just passed the wheel field, where half-buried wheels in the ground. I was panting more than I ever panted in my entire life. I suddenly had reached the worst part of them all, the barbed wire ceiling, as we called it. You had too get on your belly and crawl under barbed wire that was netted above you, one wrong move and you would get cut. I started to go on my belly as I felt a sharp pain over my flank area, I yipped as I looked behind to see the drill sarge with a riding crop in his mouth and a red line across my cutie mark, which was two swords crossed over each other.

"Come on you piece of shit we don't have all day!" The drill sarge called me shit because I had a brown coat color, and my black colored mane. As I started too go under the barbed net, I lifted my hoof and then I felt a sharp pain in it, but as soon as it came, It was gone, but so was the feeling in my hoof. "COME ON MOVE DAMNIT!" He yelled at me.

"I CAN'T!" I scream.

"WHAT THE TARTURUS DO YOU MEAN YOU CANT?!?!" He yells even louder.

"What is going on here?" A female voice says, suddenly the drill sarge speaks up

"Princess Celestia! Mam! I am just training my soldiers, but more specifically, Cog." He says respectfully.

"Training hmm?" A female voice says, suddenly I hear trotting through mud and sure enough, I saw Celestia through the side of my eye. "You are aware he is bleeding a ton right?" she says.

"Bleeding? I'm sure that mare is just on her period." He says mockingly, even though I am a colt.

"He isn't on his period!" She says coming at my defense "His hoof is caught in barbed wire and bleeding" she then starts to remove barbed wire from around me too see "Now, can you feel anything?" she asks me trying to untie the barbed wire around my hoof.

"No" I say.

"No?" Both Sarge and Celestia in unison

"Nope" I say my eyes dropping and felling woozy "Oh my....." I say falling asleep.

The last thing I heard was Celestia scream "Get a nurse Quickly!"

END FLASHBACK

From that day on, my left hoof was broken. Unable to fix it, Celestia had it amputated. But for a year I had no hoof, until recently They had made a new hoof for me, a robotic one. I had become what everypony wanted to be,

A Supersoldier

My new hoof gave me new weapons, that didn't require close combat, we called them "Guns". I have super strength now, and we have made a breakthrough in medicine. We have created a new form of medicine we call "EDEN", It allows any injury, from bruise to paralyzation, to be cured. It has not been proved for general release, and so far, I'm the only one who can use it

Today I have been sent for a mission briefing about a oncoming war.

When I entered the briefing room, Celestia was in there with many other pony's. Mostly royal gaurd. I went in and sat down on the floor.

"Cog, I am glad you came." Celestia says to me. "We are in a time of war. The griffin and changling army have declared war against us, and they have already took Fillynois, we need you in our time of need." She says

"Where do I start?" I ask grining.

Celestia smiles at my response. "You will be stationed at a very important village to protect it and you will be deployed into battle from there. I have a student there who has already agreed to help." She says to me

"Where is it?" I simply ask

"Ponyville" she says

"Fine. Deploy me right away!" I say

"Of course." She says

...

The ride to Ponyville was uneventful. But when I got there it was a different story, I saw a small village that seemed not important at all in this war. I wonder what Celestia thinks is so important? I ask myself as suddenly the carrige driver yells

"This is your stop." I get off and look around. Seems like something that wouldn't have any crime I think to myself as I look at my map. Okay, so this library thing is where the student lives I ask approaching a treehouse and open the door.

"Welcome to the ponyville library!" A voice greets me as I look around and see a busy purple unicorn mare. "How may I help you?" she asks me not looking at me.

"I would like to see Twilight Sparkle" I say

"Twilight? That's me! Are you Cog?" She says as she is fixing a bookshelf that is titled "mythological creatures"

"Yeah" I say

She suddenly drops everything and heads over to me. She then picks up my augmented left hoof and feels it and starts to breath quickly "OhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh OH MY GOSH!" she screams "You are Cog! I have been waiting ALL DAY to meet you!" She says "You are the first ever augmented pony in history!" she then lets go of my left hoof and picks up my un-augmented right hoof "And so strong!" she says in a calm, silky voice that makes me shake a bit.

"I-Its nothing really" I say a bit dazed.

Suddenly I hear the words "Look out!" As a loud crash is heard and like I was trained, I jumped infront of Twilight, who jumped out of the way and I was tackled down by a Cyan figure

As the smoke cleared a Cyan pegasus was on top of me, she had a rainbow mane and looked nice for some reason.

This was never a good sign
