Feeling Inadequate

In Canterlot High, you have many students who have gone by to a day to day basis, each of them carrying on with their lives, trying to live up to their education, even doing what others do in their everyday normal lives.

And during those times, there are those who help others along the way, that being the Rainbooms. Sunset, who was once the bully, now reformed and want to be a better person. Twilight, or Sci-Twi to some, also wishes to be better because of what happened, and is the brains of the group. Applejack, the honest apple farmer. Rarity, Canterlot High’s Fashionista. Fluttershy, the kind animal caretaker. Pinkie Pie, Canterlot High’s party planner. And then finally, Rainbow Dash, Canterlot High’s star athlete, who tends to brag, but is good at what she does. As long as it doesn’t go to her head.

They were the popular group of girls at CHS. And were also admired by many, including some guys, though one Rainbow constantly tries to avoid one, aka, Fluttershy’s dimwitted brother.

However, one of the students in CHS, didn’t feel that way.

And that…would be Scootaloo.

Whenever she hangs out with her friends, she can’t help but look at other couples of CHS, how well they bonded and how well they were dating, even some began to date Crystal Prep’s girls despite their past rivalry. Heck, even a girl like Sour Sweet dated one of CHS’ students, and most guys felt intimidated of going out with her, except for the boy who really liked her.

Heck, even her friends were lucky enough to get paired with someone. Apple Bloom with Tender Taps, Sweetie Belle with Button Mash, but her, she felt like her life was going nowhere.

One day, she was sitting at the bleachers whilst she was supposed to have supported Rainbow Dash whilst she was practicing, but she didn’t feel like cheering someone out, not the way she’s feeling right now. After Rainbow was done, she worked up a sweat and wiped her face with a towel.

“Phew, that was a good workout.” Said Rainbow before she took a sip of water. “Don’t you think so scoots?”

However, Rainbow noticed that Scootaloo felt down. Being concerned for her, she walked over to her and sat right next to her.

“Hey, what’s wrong squirt?” asked Rainbow.

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Said Scootaloo.

“Come on, Scoots.” Said Rainbow, “You know I just want to help you. How can I help if I don’t know what’s wrong?”

Scootaloo sighed and said “Did you ever in your life feel like you were inadequate to people around you?”

Rainbow was a little surprised by this, but she knew the feeling all too well.

“Yeah, I did once.” Said Rainbow. Then she looked at her and said “Why do you ask?”

“It’s just…” said Scootaloo as she tried her best to explain, “Everyone else has amazing relationships with others around them, heck, despite a few rivalries, even the girls from Crystal Prep are dating a few Canterlot High students. Even you and the girls are lucky.”

“Oh, come on, we’re not that…” said Rainbow, trying to deny it.

“But it’s true.” Said Scootaloo. “Flash and Sunset have a great relationship despite their past, Twilight and Timber Spruce are hitting it off well, Rarity and Fancy Pants are doing just fine, Fluttershy and Sandalwood, Applejack and Braeburn…”

“They’re related.” Said Rainbow.

“No they’re not.” Said Scootaloo, “They found out he was adopted.”

Rainbow blinked in surprise after hearing that.

“Pinkie Pie dating Cheese Sandwich.” Said Scootaloo, then looked at Rainbow and said “Even you’re dating a boy.”

Rainbow stuttered and tried to deny it, with Scootaloo saying, “Don’t lie. I know you’ve got a boy, but you’re not telling anyone about it.”

“For a good reason,” said Rainbow, “We’re only keeping it a secret because we’re afraid his sister wouldn’t approve.”

“She wouldn’t?” said a confused Scootaloo.

“No way.” Said Rainbow, who then suddenly grew nervous, “If she were to find out about our relationship, she’d kill us.”

But she took a deep breath, and calmed down, then looked at Scootaloo and said “Continue.”

She sighed and said “Even Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle are lucky to get lovers. But me…I’ll never find someone who’d like me for me.”

“Aw come on, don’t say that Scoots.” Reassured Rainbow. “Your time will come, it just takes time. And believe it or not, I also felt the same way you did. I always felt I’d never live up to anyone’s potential. But a brother of a friend of mine helped me out in a situation. Though…not what he had in mind.”

“What do you mean?” said Scootaloo.

“Uh, long complicated story.” Said Rainbow. “Anyway, he also helped me gain my confidence with some help. And it turned out, the guy I liked also felt the same way. So we both kept it a secret and once we both were able to overcome our inadequacy, we gained the confidence we needed. Which is why we both worked hard, as well as work on our bodies.”

Scootaloo flexed an eyebrow on that, with Rainbow saying “Again, it’s complicated.”

Rainbow looked at Scootaloo and reassured her, “So don’t worry so much. Your time will come, it just takes time.”

Scootaloo sighed and said “I don’t know.”

“Just…give it a go.” Said Rainbow.

Scootaloo then looked at Rainbow and managed a smile for her sister figure, “Okay, I’ll try.”

“That’s the spirit squirt.” Said Rainbow.

Scootaloo stood up and headed back to school, with Rainbow watching. She sighed and said “Wish there was a way to help her out.”

What she didn’t know, was a boy was listening over to her. He felt bad for the little girl. So for her sake, he decided to help. He closed his book and walked away, determined to find a way to help her.

Meanwhile, Scootaloo was busy going to her locker and packing up her books for the day. But when she closer her locker, she suddenly saw a note attached to it.

“Huh?”

She took out the letter and read through it.

If you truly wish to gain the confidence you need.

I’ll be here to help you out.

Meet me at the Canterlot High Statue.

And I’ll give you what you need.

SC

“Well, I don’t see what I have to lose at this point.” Said Scootaloo as she placed the letter away and walked towards the statue.

She soon arrived at the statue, and there ahead, she spotted a boy, about Rainbow’s age, waving to her. She figured that this was the guy who wrote the letter to her and walked over to her.

“So you’re the guy I was supposed to meet?” asked Scootaloo.

“That’s right.” Said the teenager, “The name’s Silver Chemistry.”

“Wait,” said Scootaloo as if she had heard that name before. She then blinked in surprise and said “I know you, you won the award for making the new type of medicine that could cure a fatal disease.”

“That’s right.” Said the guy.

“I also heard you and your brother, Periodic Table were the ones who helped Rainbow and the others find a cure after Twilight, Princess Twilight and Sunset’s mouse bit them and turn them into monsters.”

“Yeah, that was a nightmare.” Said Silver Chemistry. “And the Principle did the right thing to ban them from ever making chemical experiments on the school grounds, even on animals. Flutters was not happy about it.”

“Yeah, no kidding.” Said Scootaloo, “And everyone thinks Rainbow wasn’t smart enough when it came to her science homework?”

Silver Chemistry flexed an eyebrow on that, with him saying “Says the one who wanted to separate her and her friends’ sisters and Sunset by humiliating them and frame Sunset for it.”

She giggled nervously at that, but mumbled, “It was Apple Bloom’s idea.”

“And you still went along with it.” He retorted. Scootaloo pouted over his words, with him saying “But, I’m not here to judge further, I’m here to help with your problem.”

“You are?” she asked.

“Let’s just say I was busy reading when I overheard your problem.” Said Silver Chemistry. “Believe me, I plenty of folks had that same problem. Therefore, I want to give you this.”

He pulled out a chemical and presented it to her.

“This a new chemical I worked with in my lab a while back.” Said Silver Chemistry.

“It won’t turn me into a monster, will it?” said Scootaloo.

“Do I look like if I’m the three dorks?” asked Silver Chemistry.

“Just checking.” Said Scootaloo. “So what is it?”

“It’s basically a chemical that allows the one who drinks it, to help one boost their confidence and will help them feel differently instead of being, well, down in the dumps. Trust me, I worked on this for a long time, but I wanted it to be used by someone who really needed it. And seeing that you have that problem, what better than the person who really needs it.”

Scootaloo looked at the chemical, then to Silver Chemistry. She was a bit skeptical at first, but seeing that he’s good at making chemicals, and seeing that he wants to help her, she was somewhat sure. But if his chemicals could really help her, what did she have to lose?

“Alright, you convinced me.” Said Scootaloo as she accepted it.

“What time do you get up at most mornings?” asked Silver Chemistry.

“Around 5AM, same time I like to train like Rainbow Dash. Why?” asked Scootaloo.

“When you get up, take it the moment you wake up.” Said Silver Chemistry as he instructed her, “You can take it as if it would be a normal medication for most mornings.”

“Alright then,” said Scootaloo, “I’ll give it a shot.”

“Let me know how it goes.” Said Silver Chemistry. “If it works, I’d be more than happy to make more. If not, well then, we’ll need to run some tests.”

“I can do that.” Said Scootaloo. “But wait, it’s summer vacation tomorrow, don’t you have anywhere else to go?”

“Nah, I tend to work at home to get a few things done.” Said Silver Chemistry.

“Alright then,” said Scootaloo, “I’ll come by you and let you know if it works.”

“Alright then.” Said Silver Chemistry as he watched Scootaloo left. “She’s a good kid. No doubt she’ll be great.”

************************************************************************************************

The next morning, it was the beginning of Summer Vacation. And right at Scootaloo’s house, she was still fast asleep. And as she promised, she kept the chemistry vial next to her. The moment the alarm went off, she groaned and turned it off. She slowly sat up and yawned. Remembering what Silver Chemistry had said, she took the vial and drank it.

“Ugh,” groaned Scootaloo, “I think the first thing I’m going to do is to ask him if he could improve the flavor on this thing.”

She stood up and went to the bathroom. “First thing’s first, gonna have to take a shower first. Then shower again the moment I’m done with my routine.”

Soon enough, she entered the shower and washed her body. However, as she washed her body, her stomach began to growl.

“Whoa, I never thought I’d be this hungry in the morning.” Said Scootaloo, “I’d better fix myself something to eat after when I’m done.”

But as she washed, she began to feel a tingly sensation all over her body whilst she stroked it. She ended up moaning whilst her eyes were closed.

“Whoa,” muttered Scootaloo, “Somehow I feel all tingly on the inside.”

And from the outside of the shadow, one could see that she was suddenly growing taller. Once she stopped, she had finished showering. She turned off the water and walked out of the shower. She held her towel close to her. But as she tried to wrap it, she suddenly noticed she couldn’t.

“That’s funny, why is my towel suddenly too small.” Said Scootaloo. “I’ll borrow one of my aunts’.”

She used a bigger towel to wrap herself with the towel, whilst using her towel to dry her hair. But as she walked, she focused on drying her hair and not noticed anything. She went to her room to look at herself in front of the mirror. However, the moment she removed her towel from her head to take a good look at herself, she suddenly blinked in shock.

For at the mirror, was a tall woman. But not just any tall woman…it was her.

Scootaloo screamed in fright as she didn’t expect what was right in front of her.
