The threat of the Crystal Tree of Harmony has been vanquished and replaced with a new Crystal Ring, but it will be a year until that sacrifice will be of any help. Just the same, the Echoes appear to have been defeated along with the darkness, though both could still be waiting for a way through the empty space for a chance at revenge.

This will not be an easy-going tale of a warrior's reward after a hard-fought battle. The world of Equestria has been changed forever. The whispers that kept allies, villains, and the masses of subjects all scripted with The Words have been removed. The world itself has been set free, and the world may no longer be as predictable as it once was.

Multiple kingdoms and empires are still pining for the attention and support of the Strand Seven. At the same time, multi-city-wide repairs, clean up, and disposal of The Darkness and the prior Harmony have thinned many allied forces as the Changelings have begun their infiltration.

Things will only become more complicated when the truth of Cadance's and Shining's mutual separation in pursuit of new love interests is discovered.

Then again, with more than one royal to take the throne of the Crystal Empire and more than one human for the residents of the vulnerable Empire to love and rely on, could a new threat be in the making?

Darker yet, for the two royals who believe their lives have been an elaborate web of lies woven by Harmony's whispers, to what lengths will they go to protect their new human companions if it means finally finding true love?
