A Brand New Meaning Of Life

LAST DAY OF THE EQUESTRIAN CIVIL WAR-THE REMAINS OF THE EVERFREE FOREST

Princess Luna was wearing her royal blue battle armor while walking through the tore up battlefield where the Everfree Forest used to be. The alicorn mare couldn't help but to see all of the bodies of her people all around and it was a grim site to see. Most of them was killed by fighting in hand-to-hand kombat against the undead lava monasteries they have fighting in this war and some others were burned alive when they were attacked and now they were nothing more than a pile of ash. Princess Luna was trying to not look at the bodies as she was walking towards the very person that started this very bloody civil war.

Empress Daybreaker was on the ground with both of her knees on the muddy ground, her left hand on her golden halberd for support, and her right hand on her bleeding right side of her lower half of her body. She was also wearing her firely orange battle armor and she was breathing in deeply very thin air before she looks up to her sister with her midnight blue sword in hand. Luna stops in front of her sister and points her sword towards the corrupted alicorn mare and said. "It's over Tia. You have lost."

"Lost? LOST?!" Daybreaker shouted. "I WILL NEVER SAY I HAVE LOST!" Then she tries to get up but the pain in her body made her down on her knees again.

Luna can see the pain her sister's face and she couldn't help but to feel sorry for fighting her in this cursed war. But there was something else she was feeling at the same time and it was something she have been feeling for last several years of this war and couldn't hold it back anymore and asked this question. "Then tell me this sister? Why?"

Daybreaker looked up to her little sister and said. "Why what?''

"Why you have let Daybreaker control you? Why you nearly killed back at Canterlot all those years ago? WHY YOU HAVE KILLED SO MANY IN THIS WAR?!" Luna shouted at the end with tears in her eyes.

Daybreaker looked at her sister for a few moments before she began to chuckle a little then she begins to laugh and finally she was laughing so hard and loudly that tears was going down on her cheeks. Luna stood there for a minute as she was completely shocked and confused on what she was seeing her sister laughing like a insane person before shakes it off and asked. "What's so funny?"

"You m-mean (chuckle) You haven't figured out (laugh) why l started this war all (inhale) those years ago?!" Daybreaker laughing even harder before she finally let's her laughter got out of her body and was calming down to looked at her sister again. "After all these years, you still don't know why I tried to killed you back at Canterlot and started this war?"

"Then tell me. Tell me why so many have died from the very princess they looked up to for a thousand years?"

Then Daybreaker said something that shook Luna to her very heart. "Because of Twilight."

The blue alicorn's eyes widen in disbelief as she asked. "W-what does Twilight have to do with this? She was your student. Do you not care for her like a daughter?''

"That's just it." Daybreaker spated. "She was more than a daughter to me because I loved her in my very heart." That got Luna to look and see tears of sadness going down her sister's face. "I don't realize it at first but though out the years after she became the element of magic my love for her began to grow within me and after I made her a alicorn is when l finally see that l really do love her like a husband to his wife. After Twilight became a alicorn l tried to her tell her that but my nervousness for being rejected by her always got the best of me. Then you came along." Then Daybreaker slowly got up as she was still telling her tail. "I did noticed that you and Twilight were spending more time together than usual and I thought it's because she saved you from Nightmare Moon all those years that you wanted to show your gratitude by being grateful to her. Then one day, on the very night of our last Ball in Canterlot castle, l saw the both of you going into the gardens alone and being very curious of this l secretly fellow the both of you until l lost you in the bush maze.'' Now she was standing up fully and was looking at her sister straight into her eyes. "It took me several minutes for me to find the both of you and when I did, at the center of that maze, what did I found there? YOU KISSING THE VERY MARE I LOVED!" Daybreaker screamed as Luna was in complete shock.

"Y-you was t-there?" Luna asked.

"That l was. I saw how the both of you were cresting each other's bodies is when my heart shattered into a million pieces. After l teleported myself into my room I cried for days for seeing you taking my Twilight away from me. After finally calming down l wondered why neither you or that of Twilight didn't tell me about this until finally it hit me like a knife in the back. You were still jealous of me for all of our subjects loving me instead of you and after you somehow find out that I love Twilight in my heart you decide to have your revenge against me by taking away the one mare I wanted for myself and making her fall in love with you instead of me."

"What? No." Luna said trying to explain to her sister. "I didn't know that you were in love with her l swear on my soul."

"DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO ME!" Daybreaker shouted before she rises her halberd and brings it down towards her sister. Lucky Luna brought her sword up just in time to block the axe blade right before it got to her face. "You were the one who wanted revenge against me. You were the one who took Twilight away from me. And you were the who made her to love you instead of me." Daybreaker tried to bring down the halberd again but Luna stopped that blasting her sister on the chest and the corrupted alicorn back a few feet.

Daybreaker was still on her feet but that blast took the wind right out of her. That allowed Luna to cast a spell to take the halberd away and casts a different spell to pin her sister onto a dead but still standing nearby tree. Daybreaker was caught completely off guard by that before Luna said. "I don't know you had the same feelings for Twilight as I did, this l really do swear. And believe me when I say this: Twilight will discussed at the very demon you allowed yourself to become."

But that got Daybreaker to chuckle at that before she said. "Oh you don't know how discussed she was when I saw her for the last time."

Luna's eyes slowly widen after hearing that. "T-the last time? You m-mean?"

"Yes you fool. I KILLED TWILIGHT!" Daybreaker shouted with a wicked smile on her face. "It myself who led that attack on Ponyville to stop your troops from getting those supplies in this war. I've to stop that supplies from getting to you and right after that is when both her and that of her friends showed up. After seeing her for the first time in so many years my heart still wanted me to love her and after I told her everything she was very sorry that she didn't know. Soon I told if she just runs away with me, l will stop this war by locking ourselves into Canterlot alone in one of my shields." Then her face turned into one of pure hatred. "But her love for you was stronger than I thought and that's when I couldn't hold my anger for you anymore. She tried to talked me into surrendering but I saw though her lies and used my magic to capture her and her friends. And since she broke my heart it only fitting that I break her heart as well by slowly killing her friends in front of her." Now Luna was starting to have tears in her eyes as she still listening to her sister's story. "First I started with Pinkie Pie and l slowly burned her alive like one of her pies, then next came poor sweet Fluttershy and I forced her body into cutting herself with a dagger until she was dead to blood loss, then came Rarity who l had the pleasure of pulling her our heart out though her mouth, next was that apple farmer Applejack and since she was so fond of her strong legs that l torn them off of her before I beat her to death with them, and finally we come to Rainbow Dash she always claimed that she was the fastest flyer in Equestria so what better way to stop her from flying ever again by ribbing her wings off with my bear hands and she died from shock shortly after."

Luna was so sadden to hear what her sister have done that her magic faded away allowing Daybreaker to be free and now standing up again. As for Luna she just fall to her knees and was looking up at her corrupted sister. "And what happened to Twilight?" She asked. "What did you do with her?"

"Well after seeing her friends was killed one by one, l started to looked for that overgrown lizard, Spike, to killed him in front of her like the others but when Shining Armor's troops showed up in that surprise attack and started pushing my forces back at a rapid pace, I couldn't let you used her against me so with a swing of my halberd l slashed across her chest and left her rot on the spot. And l believe you know the rest."

And true to Daybreaker's words, Luna did know the rest. One day after the attack on Ponyville Luna to see if the mare she loves was still alive and when she got there she finds Shining holding on his sister's body while crying his eyes out while Spike was being held back by two of her thestral guards as they were trying to stop him from going after Daybreaker for revenge. Then one week later Luna held a funeral for the main 6 and little bit after that she manages to calm down Spike before she sends him into the Dragon lands to start over with his life. But there was something else too in her memories. "What about the Crystal Empire? There was incident ponies in there."

"Nopony is incident.'' Daybreaker glowed. "I would have my fun a little longer if Shining Armor didn't showed up. And I know that Cadence was helping you with the war so why not to destroy a whole empire then a disease so deadly that you had no choice but to sealed it off from the rest of the world in order to contain it." Then she used her magic to get her halberd back in her hands and rises up above her head. Even with the pain going through her body she manages to it. "And now I will end this war here and now. But I won't stop there, oh no I won't. I'm going burned every kingdom in this world of ours and when I am done, I will turned the whole planet into the most deadliest desert in history and my empire of sand and fire will stand for the rest of time. That way everycreature will know my pain."

Daybreaker swings her halberd down... only to be caught in Luna's right hand. Daybreaker's eyes widen in shock to see that before Luna blasted her sister with a force of ten thousand unicorns. The blast made Daybreaker crashed into a nearby boulder and now her body was all messed up with all four of her limbs broken. The corrupted alicorn mare screamed at the top of her lungs when the pain so intense before she weakly looked at her sister walking towards her. "What you have done is unforgivable." Princess Luna said stopping in front of her sister. "I would have killed you with that blast but I am not like you and you are still my big sister. You will be banished to the sun and never to return. I will bring Equestria's beauty back and l will make sure that every single last life you have taken away will remember for their love ones and for the next generation to come. What do you have to say before I pass sentence?"

Daybreaker stood there for a few moments while still in rubble of rocks until she said her last words. "If I can't have Equestria THEN NOPONY WILL!" Then she unleashed the biggest magical wave of fire that Luna have ever seen before before she uses her magic to freeze time around them both. Luna knows that she can't hold up this spell up forever as she was already struggling with the massive power her sister is unleashing until she gets a idea. If Luna can place a soul spell on both herself and that of her sister souls, the continue night and day can still carry onwards. She already make sure that the pony race will not go extinct and so this here is her only chance to make that sure that the day time and night time will continue as before. After dropping the time spell and within a spit second she casts a soul spell right before the fires consumed her body.

The fires was going everywhere of Equestria within seconds but if anypony can looked very closely they could see two magical orbs, a golden one and a silver one, going straight up into the sky and disappearing forever.
