//-------------------------------------------------------// A Party All Night Long -by silvershinepony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Party //-------------------------------------------------------// The Party   Today was an important day and Vinyl Scratch knew it. Today was her first good gig in weeks.   When Vinyl got to the nightclub where she would be playing, she sat down and started setting up her equipment. Cord here, speaker there, microphone over here, spotlight over there, and so on and so forth. Finally, after twenty minutes, she had all her equipment out and set up. Last thing. The records. Over a course of about fifteen years, Vinyl had acquired a huge collection of records. Some of her favorite bands included Death Cab For Cutie, Daft Punk, and some single musicians like Skrillex. Now, only one thing to do. Wait for the guests. "Vinyl....Vinyl...Vinyl Scratch... Vinyl...Vinyl...Vinyl! Vinyl Scratch!" Vinyl jolted awake to a dark room with some flashing lights moving around. She peeled her face off of a soundboard and looked around, dazed. Somepony put a pair of tinted purple glasses on her. "Huh? What's going on?" she wondered aloud. "Vinyl, you're gonna mess up your gig!" said her boss. "And I'm gonna take the fall. So get up and play some music!"   Vinyl looked blearily around. "Okay," she said. She grabbed a random record and slapped it on the turnstile. Brrrrp! The turnstile grumbled. Then a song started playing. Hmmm.... "You Are a Tourist", (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkk5wViJo-I) by Death Cab For Cutie... Hmm. Nice song. She thought.   Ponies started dancing, but one particularly striking  pony stayed in her seat. Vinyl wondered who didn't like her music and leaned for a closer look. It was a funny-looking unicorn mare, that had... wings? Vinyl shook her head, rubbed her eyes, and looked again. Yes, there was no mistaking the midnight-blue coat and starry mane. The one and only Princess of the Night, the Lunar Princess, and the Bane of the Daylight, all wrapped in one, had popped up at her nightclub. Luna. Vinyl rubbed her eyes with her hooves again. Well, better get this over with, Vinyl thought. She grabbed the Death Cab track and yanked it off the phonographhish thing she never bothered to learn the name of with a Rrrrriiitt! and slapped on a more hard-core track. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-k_Eg7zXuc) Wub, wub, wub...bsht, bumb, bsht, bumb, bsht, *guitar strum*.... A single pony, with an orange coat and vibrant purple mane, leaped up at the sound of the beat and practically took over the main dance floor. She sported a cutie mark a butterfly and flowers, designs appearing out of place in the club. While she used the short, brisk dancing of dubstep and electronic music, she possessed a grace uncommon to the genre.   Then the track started to fade. The orange pegasus slowly crouched down... And again, out of nowhere, a robotic voice stated "Stand still, stop clocks, we can make the world stop." At this point the mare leaped up, stood on her hind legs, spreading her forelegs out and up.   Vinyl smiled. She would have to strike a business deal with this mare. Of course, in all the hubbub, the dark blue mare skulking in the shadows was forgotten. Luna grumbled. Her requested song would never come up.   By this time the song had ended, and Vinyl put on another song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1eOMXyNrDU) "Bounce", by a group named Tune Up!. Vinyl smiled again as the orange mare continued to dance awesomely. "Come on baby bounce with me, I feel the energy A magic love so bright is coming over me So baby bounce with me, and be my fantasy tonight.... I'LL HOLD YOU TIGHT!" Luna grumbled again. She grabbed the piece of paper off the table she was currently seated at, and conjured up a quill with her magic. She scribbled a name and artist on the paper, and teleported it over to Vinyl's table. Hopefully, this would catch the annoyingly musical mare's attention. Five more songs passed. By the third, the orange mare had retired to the seats. By the fourth, Luna was getting quite annoyed. By the fifth, she had flown a paper airplane with her request scribbled on it at Vinyl's head. Vinyl Scratch felt something hit her head. It flopped under her desk and she squatted down to grab it. It had a song name written on it. Vinyl's eyes widened and she nearly burst out laughing. She spun around to her cardboard box of records and started flipping through it. After about five minutes of sifting, she found the elusive track. She chuckled again as she slapped it on the phonographhish thing. Bum bum bum bumma bumlelelum! Bum *bum** bum bumma bummlelelum!* Luna jumped up and began strutting down the main aisle that had formed, stepping in time to the beat. "Oooh and it's allright and it's comin' long We gotta get right back to where we, started from Love is good, love can be strong, We gotta get right back to where we, started from! Ponies clapped, and Luna totally owned the dance floor, spinning and moving her hips like nopony's business. Do you remember that day that sunny day, When you first came my way I said no one could take your place And if you get hurt if you get hurt, By the little things I say I can put that smile back on your face Luna danced, danced, and danced som'more. Vinyl leaned back in her seat, propped her back hooves on the table and slapped a button that hadn't been pressed in probably over 20 years. There was some commotion on the ceiling, then two trapdoors slowly opened. A sparkly object that could only be a disco ball descended out of the hole and started twirling around, shedding fragmented light on the guests. Vinyl then jumped up on the desk and positioned a large, white spotlight, so that it shined directly onto Luna. Luna's sparkly suit shined in the light, adding to the effect. Then, out of nowhere, the orange mare from earlier jumped up and began dancing along with Luna. They grasped hooves and spun, around and around. Unfortunately, around this time the song started to fade. Vinyl quickly put on a new song that would do well to replace it. Well you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man no time to talk Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around Since I was born. And now it's allright, it's okay, And you may look the other way, We can try to understand The New York Times affect on man. Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Feel the city breakin' and everypony shakin' And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' aliii-ii-iiive! By the time the song was over, Vinyl had already chosen the next song. As the beat started up, Luna only had about half a second to smile before the chorus started. We are family I got all my sisters with me! We are family Get up ev'rybody and sing! Ev'ryone can see we're together As we walk on by **FLY!* and we fly just like birds of a feather* I won't tell no lie **ALL!* all of the people around us they say!* Can they be that close Just let me state for the record We're giving love in a family dose! We are family I got all my sisters with me! We are family Get up ev'rybody and sing! We are family I got all my sisters with me! We are family Get up ev'rybody and *sing!*** And with that, Luna collapsed on the floor.
