Just another Hearth's Warming for Whoa Nelly
Whoa Nelly was having a great day. Just hours earlier her winter dress arrived from Carousel Boutique, just in time for the Hearth's Warming festivities. She looked fabulous after putting it on, the deep purple and silver highlights going great against her turquoise coat, though for now she stored it away for when she would go out later.
Sadly, not everypony was in such a celebratory mood. Young Truffle Shuffle was feeling quite down. While he had used to love this time of year, with all the delectable treats on offer, some more judgemental ponies were being rather cruel to him, most notably Diamond Tiara. She had been saying no filly would ever want to be his special somepony with the way he stuffs his face, and would merciless harass him every time he reached for a holiday goodie.
It was in this crestfallen state that Truffle Shuffle didn't notice where he was walking, and bumped right into Whoa Nelly. "Oh, sorry, I didn't see you there", said Truffle Shuffle in an apologetic tone as he slowly backed up, and started to go around Whoa Nelly. It was clear from his demeanor that not all was well
"Hold up", said Whoa Nelly. "Whats got you all down this year. You've always loved Hearth's Warming before young colt! How about we swing by Sugarcube Corner and grab a nice snow cookie?"
"Well, ok I guess. I DO like basically everything they make there after all", said Truffle Shuffle, and the pair traveled to the bakery. Inside, they ortained the snow cookies, which glissned white with icing, and had just the faintest smell of spearmint.
Sadly, as they left the bakery and were just taking first bites, none other than DIamond Tiara appeared. "Wow, look at Truffle Shuffle stuffing his fat face. You're gonna wind up as fat and ugly and miserable as Whoa Nelly there." Satisfied at the damage, Diamond proudly turned away and went looking for the Cutie Mark Crusaders to torment, as they tried to make actual hearthes out of mortar and brick.
Whoa Nelly turned to Truffle Shuffle and said "Is that why you were looking so down earlier? Cheer up, you shouldn't let what one cruel filly says ruin Hearth's Warming for you! Besides, whats wrong with how I am? I may be a bit bigger than most ponies, but I still have friends, get dresses, and have fun in life!"
Truffle Shuffle replied "But others are starting to follow her lead! Just yesterday SIlver Spoon was calling me a hungry hungry hippo! And what if shes right, and no pony will want to be my friend, and I have to go live alone all by myself in the Everfree Forest!"
"Calm down there, young colt. Of course ponies will want to be friends with you, so long as you are kind and honest! As proof, let me tell you something. When I was just a filly, there was this mean mean classmate, Spoiled something or other, I don't bother remembering the name. She said all those cruel things to me as well, and guess what? She was wrong, and Diamond Tiara will also be wrong. Besides, the most important thing is that you love yourself. If you are happy with who you are, what difference does it make if some loudmouthed meanie head thinks otherwise? When I first realized that I got my cutie mark, and now I share that truth with other ponies."
Truffle Shuffle sniffed a bit, but began to crack a small smile "You mean it? I don't have to feel bad just because I like to eat Hearth's Warming goodies, even more than some other ponies eat?"
"Of course", Whoa Nelly replied. "As long as you love yourself, and what you are doing, you'll be just fine. Besides, those goodies are there TO be eaten, otherwise no pony would make them. Although perhaps I should try to have a word with Filthy Rich, I'm not sure he would approve of the monster his little filly is turning out to be. What say you go out and make a snowpony with some other foals, I think I see three other fillies over there doing just that, although I'm not sure that grey stuff on their hooves is. They don't seem to be bothered by it though, so it shouldn't be a problem?."
"Sounds great:, said Truffle Shuffle as he trotted off to go make snow ponies with the crusaders.
Whoa Nelly decided to head off towards Filthy Rich's abode. Along the way she say many ponies enjoying this time of year. "Hey Nelly!" said Pinkie Pie "Me and Berry Punch were gonna go punch tasting later tonight, wanna come with?"
"Certainly", said Whoa Nelly. Soon she arrived at Filthy Rich's mansion, and rang the doorbell for him. When he appeared, she said "Pardon me Mr. Rich, but lately your little filly Diamond Tiara has been acting awfully cruel, putting down her classmates out of sheer spite. I'm worried no one is going to like here if this keeps up."
Filthy Rich sighed, and replied "While I don't see her much, she has been more sharp as of late. I fear she may be getting this from her mother. That mare is rather, opinionated. I'll have a talk with her though, since after all if you are intolerable, its hard to make connections in the business world, and I don't think shed like to be thought of as Cubic Circonium Tiara. after all" Whoa Nelly's face had a confused expression. Filthy Rich clarified "Cubic Zirconium is a cheap diamond substitute, though not as hard, or as beautiful, especially to a pony with a discerning eye!"
Satisfied with the outcome of this meeting, Whoa Nelly said "Well thank you for listening to me, and I hope you and your family has a lovely Hearth's Warming." As Whoa Nelly turned about to leave she saw a pony out of the corner of her eye deeper within the house. "Could that be..." She thought, but decided it didn't matter even if it was. "This is gonna be another fantastic Hearth's Warming." thought Whoa Nelly. "Time to put on my dress and go punch tasting with Berry Punch and Pinkie Pie.". As she walked back to get ready for her night out, she looked around to see what the foals had made "Whew, those are some interesting looking snow ponies there. Looks like they all went off somewhere, I hope they are having a good time."
