Princess Luna walked cheerfully through the halls of Canterlot Castle towards Celestia’s bedroom to announce something that she had been looking forward to for week, she couldn’t wait to see the look on Celestia’s face when she surprised her! As she glanced about the halls of the castle that she had onced memorized, she saw little changes that most ponies would never come across, like the ridges and cracks in the linoleum flooring, or the hoof prints that had wore down the once vibrant red carpet into a dull purple, even the massive glass panels that now welcomed light into the building instead of reflecting it.

The princess of the night made a mental note to tell her sister to change the carpets in the guest areas, most of the ponies in Canterlot, and one in Ponyville would have a fit if they knew its former glory. She chuckled a bit when she thought of Rarity, The element of Generosity, being absolutely terrified of ever setting hoof on the carpet.

Luna had finally reached the massive door that led to Celestia’s room, with a glow of her horn it swung open, jumping in and standing before Celestia with a wide grin on her face.

“Sister! I come bearing good news!” She cried enthusiastically,

Celestia raised an eyebrow and studied her sister, “What’s got you so excited?” She asked, moving closer.

“Tonight, I will put on a grand meteor shower for all of Equestria to see!” Luna shouted proudly,

Celestia’s facial expression changed to a frown, “As in tonight, tonight?” She asked,

Luna raised an eyebrow, “That is what I said, is it not?” She asked,

“Luna, my dear sister, I’m afraid you cannot do something like that tonight.” Celestia said,

“What?!” Luna asked, feeling like she had just been punched in the gut, “Why not?!”

Celestia turned around and looked to her bed, which was perfectly maintained, “It will get in the way of...” Celestia paused, taking a breath like she had been exercising “Things...”

“What kind of things?!” Luna shouted in frustration, “I’ve been planning this for months!”

“I’m sorry Luna, you may not.” Celestia said coldly,

“But-”

“My decision is final.” She said, interrupting her sister.

Luna felt hot tears come to her eyes and she bolted from the room, leaving the door opened behind her, the sound of her sister following her chased Luna through the halls as she ran to her room, swinging her bedroom door opened and slamming it behind her, flopping down onto her bed exaggeratedly and burying her face into her soft pillow.

Why does she always have to get in the way of me?! Luna questioned herself, She never lets me do anything!

Luna got up from her bed and began pacing around her room, thinking of what to do now that her plans were ruined. She could ask her sister again, but she didn’t want to sound like a foal. She could just do her normal routine, raising the moon, but that seemed too boring to the lunar princess.

An idea popped into her head, making her stop in her tracks. She could... do it anyways, couldn’t she? Or would that just get her another year on the moon?

Luna cursed herself under her breath, her older sister would not stand for such disobedience, Luna would be punished in some way, whether it meant getting piles and piles of work, or having to stay in her room. Luna narrowed her eyes,

Tia isn’t my mother! She thought, What can she do that I cannot?

Princess Luna began to chuckle to herself,

Tonight... tonight I will break the rules. She thought, rubbing her hooves together and peering through her window at the sunset.

The princess of the night calmly bathed in her bathtub, her crown, necklace and slippers lay on her bed in a organized fashion. She hummed to herself as she gently washed the soap out of her mane, it was a tune that she had picked up in Ponyville last Nightmare Night. When Twilight had taught her how to behave around other ponies. The princess smiled at the thought of scaring the little colts and fillies when she had asked for the candy sacrifice.

Luna sighed and slid deeper down into the tub and closed her eyes, so only her head was visible. She hadn’t been this relaxed for quite awhile, being a princess wasn’t an easy thing, it was rather difficult, and took away most of her free time. Luna suddenly had an idea, if she wouldn’t have been so lax, she would have decided otherwise. Her hoof slid down her body and onto the inside of her left leg, right next to her-

“Princess Luna.” A masculine voice said from the edge of the room,

Luna jumped at the voice and moved her hoof away, she had thought she was alone.

She turned to see one of her royal guards, Night Meadow was his name, she had remembered him from that same Nightmare Night, he had been one of the stallions that escorted her to Ponyville.

“Yes?” She asked with a sigh,

“Dinner is ready, your majesty.” He said,

Luna frowned, she wasn’t very fond of the whole, ‘Your Majesty’ or ‘Princess’ thing, she would have rather been called Luna.

“Thank you, Night Meadow, tell my sister I will join her shortly.” She said,

The stallions eyes lit up, “You remember my... name?” He asked,

Luna smiled, “Of course I do, you were the first guard to tell me.” She said,

The stallion cleared his throat, “I will tell Celestia, princess.” he said with a large smile,

The stallion went to leave the room but Luna stopped him, “Meadow?” She said,

The stallion poked his head around the corner, “Yes, princess?” He asked,

Luna cleared her throat and felt a blush appear on her face. “How long were you standing there?” She asked,

The stallion smirked, “Long enough, princess." He said, "Long enough.” With that he left the room, leaving behind a extremely red Luna.

Luna sat at the table, waiting for her sister to arrive for dinner.

She silently munched on a few crackers while she waited, it would have been rude to begin without her sister.

A royal servant appeared, walking towards the table from Celestia’s room.

“Princess Luna, I am afraid that Princess Celestia can not join you tonight.” He said, “She has a terrible cold.”

Luna stamped her hoof down onto the table in frustration, “A cold?!” She asked, “How can she get a cold in under an hour?!”

The servant seemed to back off, “I’m very sorry Princess, but she cannot-”

“You know what?” Luna asked, “It’s fine, I’m not hungry anyways!” She jumped up from the table and stomped off down the hall.

As Luna trudged down the hallway towards her bedroom she thought of her sister,

What’s her problem today?! She thought, Why can’t she just join me for one measly dinner?

Luna stopped and looked out of a large window, facing Canterlot.

She could barely make out the small town of Ponyville, She saw the large pink building in the center of the town, where Pinkie Pie lived, Sugarcube Corner.

Princess Luna sighed and turned away from the window, sometimes she had wished she was just a normal pony, not a princess. At least she was more normal than her sister, who spent all day in the castle and not having any fun.

A bright light shined from outside and brought Luna’s attention back to the window, a huge orange ball flew at the window at a slow, but steady pace.

“What is that?” Luna asked herself,

Four others appeared by its side, flying a bit faster than the first.

SMASH!!!

Luna looked to her left, where a huge hole and a trail of fire now was, it led to one of those huge orange spheres,

“What in Equestria?!” Luna yelled, running back towards her room in panic and confusion

Just as she left, the four spheres she was watching crashed into the hall, lighting the banners and walls on fire.

Luna slammed her door behind her, she could feel the heat rising through the wooden panels of her door.

Luna’s horn lit up, she began to communicate with her sister through her mind.

“Sister! What in Equestria is going on?!” Luna shouted, feeling the impact of another fireball into the castle.

No answer.

“Sis-”

A fireball collided into one of Luna’s bedroom walls, smashing through it and lighting anything flammable ablaze.

Luna stood next to her door, panting heavily in fear and shock.

She looked around her room for something to stop the fire with, she turned to her balcony, where she could escape. Or so she thought, it had been blocked by the rubble of the fireball that entered her room.

Luna’s nostrils were invaded by smoke, she coughed and gagged on the disgusting taste and smell, she turned her head to the bathroom, which was thankfully not blocked by fallen debris.

Luna dashed towards the bathroom, dodging falling chunks of the castle and diving into the room. Just as she got to her hooves, yet another fireball hit the wall right next to her, launching a flaming sink and bathtub at her, She was able to dodge the sink but the bathtub found its mark and hit her in the head, knocking her down and landing on top of her.
