Saturn & Sparky
Day 4 (Our Final Entry)
Previous Chapter8:00 a.m.
8:00 a.m.? I really woke up that late? Eh, it's fine, whatever. I'm not doing anything today anyway, other than having to set up our decorations for the party I signed with Pinkie Pie yesterday.
I got down, and Sparky was on the couch, reading some kind of newspaper. Since when did he read newspapers?
"Mornin', brother!" he said.
"Good morning," I said back. "What are you doing?"
"Remember the shower that Blue told us about? The one we were going to see?" he said.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"Well, it's happening tonight!"
Hold on a second. Tonight?! That's during our party!
"Wait- wait a sec," I stuttered, "did you say 'tonight'?"
"Yeah," he said. "Why?"
"Don't you know what today is?" I had to remind him what today was.
"No?" he said. "Oh..." Now he knows.
"Well, what are we gonna do? We can't cancel the party now, we've aleady paid some bits for it!" I sighed.
Sparky had an idea. "Ooh, I know! How about during the party, once the time comes, we could just tell everyone we could watch it!"
I wasn't sure if it was gonna work, but it's better off giving it a chance, right? "Okay. Hopefully it works."
"You'll be so sure I'll guarantee it'll work!"
So we rushed out and looked for Pinkie Pie.
8:20 a.m.
It wasn't long until we caught up with Pinkie Pie at Sugarcube Corner.
"Pinkie!" I yelled. She noticed me.
"Ah! Can I help you?" she asked us.
"As a matter of fact, yes," Sparky told her. "The party we asked for is happening at the same night as the meteor shower tonight."
Pinkie was even more happier than before. "Goodie! Now we can have something else to do after the party! It'll be a jolly good time!"
We took word, and we agreed with that, but it was during a busy time of the party! "Can't we reschedule it?"
"No, silly!" Pinkie said. "This is the perfect time to do the party! Especially with the meteor shower coming later!"
Great. But, hopefully, all of us could watch it.
"Okay," I said. "It better live up to our expectations, though."
"We won't let you down!" Pinkie exclaimed. "See ya at the party!"
We left Sugarcube Corner.
"Cheer up, grumpy pants," Sparky told me. "We'll do something about it!"
"Yeah, whatever." We better.
9:30 a.m.
There was absolutely no way we were inviting Trail Blazer to that party. He's gonna smash all of our stuff to bits if we do so! And why am I talking about him right now during this time? Well... let's just say, we had a little run-in with each other. How do we keep running into him every single time?
"Hey," Trail said to us sternly, "don't think you two are going anywhere. I haven't gotten my full revenge on you yet."
Yeah, right. Revenge? Pah! I've got something better than that.
"What do you want from us?" I spoke back to him.
"Your tail ends," he said back to me. Sparky almost lost it from that. "Hey, don't laugh, beanie boy!"
"Well, jokes on you," I said, "because ever since we got here, we've learned that you have to face new obstacles in your lifetime, no matter how hard it is, especially considering that one of those obstacles we have to face is none other than you, red-head."
Trail was backing away from me as I walked to him. Yeah, that's right. I've finally toughened up.
"So," I continued, "next time you try to pick on little, innocent ponies like us, think twice before you do that. Because we... are Saturn and Sparky White, the all-new twin brothers in Ponyville."
Trail made a whistle, and not just any whistle, but a whistle that calls his "buddies" in. Sparky and I were outnumbered. But we're not giving up here. Not especially this time.
"Oh dear," Sparky said worriedly. "What are we gonna do, Saturn?"
"You have to fight them," I told him.
"What?!" he exclaimed. "I haven't fought anyone in my life!"
"Well, you're gonna have to. We have no other choice." I never thought I wanted to have Sparky fight someone, but we're not going down immediately.
Trail cracked his head. "Well, well, well, Saturn and Sparky. Looks like you've reached the end of the line this time."
It wasn't the end of the line for us, but him.
"Charge!" Trail commanded with his "buddies" as they ran toward us.
"Remember what we trained for," I told Sparky.
"Roger that," he said back.
The first one ran into me, but I dodged it with teleportation, and he crashed into a wall. He chased after me as I kept running around. Sparky, on the other hand, was also doing alright. He sometimes felt afraid of doing things he usually wouldn't do, but this was an exception.
"Come on!" Trail said to them. "Fight them, not be fought!"
I sneaked up behind Trail and I tackled on him. Sparky saw me do that.
"Whoo!" he called. "You go, brother!"
My fight between myself and Trail got so intense that it formed a small dust cloud. Sparky wanted to join in on the action too, so he ran into the cloud and helped me fight Trail Blazer.
"You useless unicorns just don't know when to give up, do you?" Trail said.
"No," said Sparky, "but we know what to do in worst-case scenarios like this."
After what felt like forever, Trail was finally down. Our worst enemy from the past was finally gone. Well, not gone gone, but you know what I mean.
"Agh," he gruffed. "This won't be the last you saw of me. Next time, I will get revenge, and you will regret everything you've done today. You will regret it!" And he ran off in a rush.
Sparky and I hoof-bumped each other.
"Let's not do that again, shall we?" Sparky asked me.
"Agreed," I said.
5:00 p.m.
Well, now that our fight with Trail Blazer was over, I don't think we'll be seeing him anytime soon. Even when he said he'll get revenge on us, I doubt it.
Pinkie Pie's decorating team came to our house at this time.
"Saturn and Sparky White, right?" one of the decorators asked.
"Yep, that's us," Sparky told him.
"Alright. I need you to sign this paper." He got a pen and Sparky signed it, while I made sure everything was clean for the party. "Okay. Now let's get this party decorated." And soon, we got to work.
5:30 p.m.
Everything was finally decorated. The floors were sweeped, the bunting swung above the windows, and balloons were placed in every corner. I think this will be a great party.
"Okay, you're all set. Have fun!" the decorators said as they all left. Sparky closed the door and looked back to the interior of the house. He took a deep breath.
"You know, little brother," he told me, "I think this'll the best party we've ever had. But it's a shame Mom and Dad aren't gonna be here to witness it."
Oh shoot! I forgot about Mom and Dad! How could I be so stupid, not remembering them during our time here? Now that he said it, I knew they wouldn't be here for a while, so I frowned. "Sparks," I began, "even though Mom and Dad may not be here anytime soon, I just wanted to tell you that no matter what happens, you'll always be there for me, right?"
"Of course I will," he said. "What makes you think I wouldn't?"
I began tearing up. "Think about everything we did recently. I mean, doing things that normally you wouldn't do, such as fighting? I'm not the best brother that could make those kinds of choices correctly. I don't think I deserved to be your BBF, anyway."
Sparky smiled. "Saturn, all that matters is that you're with me. And no matter what happens, I'll always be with you."
"Always?" I asked.
"Always."
I hugged him. He truly was the best brother I've ever had.
"There, there," he said calmly.
"Stop it," I said. "I've already had enough of those baby-ish phrases."
"Don't worry," he said. "I will." He better, though.
Our thirty-second long hug was over, and we heard the doorbell ring from the outside.
"That must be our first guests," Sparky guessed. So he opened the door, and surprise, surprise, it was the one and only Dr. Blue Star and her parents.
"Blue!" Sparky said. "You're here!"
"Yep," Blue said. "And I have my parents with me."
"Hello," both of her parents said.
"So glad you two could also make it!" Sparky also said.
"So are we," they both said.
I was too busy wiping my tears after that talk, so as to not let Blue and her family know that I was crying.
"Where's Saturn?" Blue asked.
"He's coming," Sparky said as I ran over quickly, with no teardrops visible in my eyes this time.
"Hey!" I said.
Blue giggled. "Hello, Saturn."
"So when's the party?" Blue's father asked.
"I believe, at like six to seven?" I answered. That was my best estimate.
"Oh," he said. "Well, we're an hour early."
"Ah, it's fine," Sparky said. "Make yourself at home here for now. We're waiting for a couple more guests, if Pinkie Pie invited them."
"Pinkie Pie?" Blue's mother asked. "Like, the Element of Laughter?"
"Yep," he replied.
"Wow." Blue's mother was amazed. Didn't she heard it when we said we met Twilight and Pinkie in our first days here in Ponyville? Eh, forget it, let's have a great time here.
6:30 p.m.
It wasn't long until a handful of ponies arrived at our house party. A DJ named DJ Pon-3 handled the disc jockey stand, this blue unicorn, AKA, "The Great and Powerful Trixie"(what a possibly unbelievable name that was) was here, and the rest of the Elements of Harmony were here as well, including Twilight and Pinkie. We met Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. Jeez, Pinkie really did invite all of these ponies to our party, did she? But whatever, it's better than nothing, cuz we got to socialize with them.
"So, ya both are new here, right?" Applejack asked us.
"Yep," I said. "Took a while to get used to the new surroundings, but all of it was worth it."
"Nice," she said back. "Great to see you're liking Ponyville."
Afterwards, we saw Rainbow Dash.
"Ha!" she laughed. "You two? Fighting your worst enemy from the past? Like that ever happened."
Sparky and I looked at each other. "Well, we'll have you know that we're as tough as a rock. And look at our hooves. You can't say you can't see a marking on those."
"You probably just did that to yourself on purpose." And so, she walked away. We were confused, but it was funny talking to her.
Then, we met Fluttershy. Shy (duh), but kind.
"Hello, Fluttershy," I called. "We mean no harm. Just two new unicorns in Ponyville."
"Really?" she said.
"Really," I said back.
And then, Rarity passed by.
"Ooh," she noticed, "what kind of outfit are those?"
"What outfit?" Sparky asked.
"Nevermind." And Fluttershy and Rarity left us.
"That was weird," Sparky said to me.
"I know," I replied.
Pinkie Pie rang a cowbell on our table. Our table?! She's gonna break it if she stands on that for too long!
"Fillies and gentlecolts," she announced, "tonight is the meteor shower on Ponyville! Please make your way to the front of the house immediately! We don't want to make this welcome party a sore for Saturn and Sparky!"
I doubt the guests here know about us. "Sorry, everyone, Pinkie doesn't know what she's talking about."
"Yeah, I do!" Pinkie said.
Out of the blue, however, some of the guests here said, "Welcome to Ponyville!" and "Hope you enjoy your stay here in Ponyville!" Huh. Kinda surprised this is happening.
"Sparks," I said to Sparky, "what are they doing?"
"I think they're welcoming us," he replied. "But I don't know why though."
"Me neither."
Then, a streak of blue light flashed from one of the windows outside. Pinkie knew what it was. "Ah! It's the meteor shower! Come on, everyone!" And we all rushed out of the house and outside.
There, in the clear skies, were shooting stars. I was stunned at what I was seeing. I remembered that Sparky made the bucket list that had the bullet point: "See the Stars". Looks like it's coming true. Sparky and I were finally having something done from the bucket list.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Sparky asked me.
"It sure is, Sparky. It sure is." I wrapped my front leg around Sparky and watched the stars from the ground. Maybe. Just maybe, Ponyville is finally the best place for our new lives.
Author's Note
Well, this is where Saturn & Sparky's story ends. For now. I really want to do something with them in a future story, so stay tuned for that one.
P.S. Sorry for the possibly-rushed ending of this story. I really wanted to get this done quickly.
