Descended Departure

Sinnoh. Near a Lake. Nightfall.

At last. Sci-Twi knew the truth about Volo and it greatly upset her. Now, their team-up was over as Volo was now on his own. But not quite on his own. He still had Team Galactic to support his goal.

And of course, Sci-Twi would not relinquish the Life Plates she has on her as Volo requested to retrieve them. Thus, this confrontation looked like it was about to enter its next stage. In his hand, the Spooky Plate was being harnessed as Volo was willing to take the other plates away from her, but he did not intend to harm her at all.

"Twilight. Hand it over, immediately. The power of a Life Plate is greatly different than a shard, easily. If I use its power, it will easily overwhelm you. Don't make me utilize it."

"...You'll have to. Because I'm not giving it up." Sci-Twi said, standing her ground.

"So be it." Volo would then unleash the power of the Spooky Plate, causing the entire area to become shrouded in darkness. Everyone else would gasp as they were engulfed by the shadows, unable to see anything.

"Yikes! What's going on?!" Pinkie shouted, her eyes widening in the darkness.

"I can't see a darn thing!" Applejack added.

"It's too dark!" Fluttershy cried.

"I can't even see my own hands!" Rarity exclaimed. This left them all vulnerable, even if Volo was going for the shards only. However, refusing to let him easily get the shards, Sci-Twi would suddenly call out.

"Pikachu! Use Thunder!"

"Pikaaaa....!" From the darkness, a burst of light wound erupt, lighting up the area. It was a bolt of lightning that would strike the ground, illuminating the area. Pikachu would disperse the shadows, bringing clarity to the area. Afterwards, Volo narrowed his eyes, seeing that Sci-Twi was going to make this as hard as possible for him. Gripping the Life Plate tightly, he would then face Mars, speaking to her.

"Mars. Help me retrieve those Life Plates at once."

"Uhh...R-Right." Mars stuttered before throwing her Poke Ball out. Out of it, emerged a Weavile.

"Weavile!"

"Volo..." Sci-Twi was conflicted, having to battle against Volo like this. She didn't want to do this, but she had no choice. "Pikachu! Use Iron Tail!"

"Pika!" Pikachu would run forward, his tail glowing white as he would leap into the air. He would then swing it down, slamming it against the ground. A shockwave would emerge from the impact, heading straight for Volo and Mars.

"Weavile! Use Night Slash!"

"Wea!" Weavile would dash forward, slashing at the ground with its claws. The slash would create a powerful shockwave that would clash against Pikachu's attack, creating an explosion. Both attacks would cancel each other out, leaving everyone unharmed.

"Twilight! Maybe we should go while we have the chance!" Rarity held Sci-Twi's arm, trying to get her to leave.

"Volo won't let us leave so easily..." However, Sci-Twi knew leaving wouldn't that simple. Not while Volo was in the way. "Iron Tail, Again!"

"Pika!" Pikachu rushed in once more, leaping into the air with his hardened tail. Weavile would use Night Slash once more as the two immediately clashed, pushing against one another.

The two of them went back and forth with their clashes, moving around the area as they did so. They were evenly matched, neither side giving in. But eventually, Pikachu would push Weavile back, sending him flying back.

"Weavile!" Weavile would slide across the ground, stopping himself.

"Now, Pikachu! Use Thunder!"

"Pika!" Pikachu would unleash a bolt of lightning from above, manipulating the clouds and firing it straight at Weavile. Weavile would try and dodge, but the Thunderbolt was too fast for him. It would hit him head on, electrocuting him.

"Weavile!" Weavile cried out as he was being electrocuted by the attack. It would linger there for a while, the electricity staying in one place.

"Weavile! Get out of there!" Mars shouted.

"Vile!" Weavile would break free from the attack, jumping away. He was badly burned, struggling to stand.

"Use Brick Break!"

"Ka...!" Pikachu's paw would light up as he ran towards Weavile, ready to bring his paw down. Weavile gasped, narrowly rolling to the side and avoiding the downward chop.

"Ice Shard!" Weavile would fire a barrage of ice shards at Pikachu, forcing him to jump back.

"Pika!" Pikachu would land on his feet, sliding back a bit. The two Pokemon eyed each other down while Volo narrowed his eyes, gripping onto the Spooky Plate. He could so easily overwhelm Sci-Twi with the power of the Life Plates, but he couldn't bring himself to do so.

He wanted to avoid hurting her if possible, but he had no choice. He needed those Life Plates. "Twilight. I'm sorry." He said before raising the Spooky Plate. The Shadows of the Spooky Plate would fly over to Weavile, entering his body right before he could unleash another IceShard.

"W-Wea!" Weavile gasped as he felt the shadows enter his body, causing him to shiver.

"Weavile?!" Mars gasped, seeing what happened. "Volo, what are you doing?!"

"Ending this." Volo stated as Weavile was feeling a great surge of spectral power emerging from him. His shape was beginning to slightly change, becoming more monstrous. His strength was being greatly amplified by the power of the plate, even more than what a shard could possibly do. The girls all gasped as Weavile's aura would bring a freezing presence to the area. A presence akin to the cold body of those who have passed on.

"Ngh...!" Fluttershy got on her knees along with the others, feeling this ominous and dreadful chill. "What is this...?"

"So cold...!" Pinkie Pie trembled in fear.

"I feel like I'm about to freeze..." Rarity added. And she was very much right. In fact, this whole area was beginning to freeze as a powerful Spectral Ice would manifest, covering the trees and the ground. It was spreading rapidly, heading straight for them. But they couldn't flee from it. Not when their own bodies were freezing.

"Ahhhh!" Applejack screamed as she was frozen in place, unable to move.

"Applejack!" Pinkie tried to reach out for her but was also frozen in place.

The four of them were all frozen in place, unable to escape. They could only watch as Weavile was now greatly powered by the Spooky Plate, ready to attack. Sci-Twi was the only one left unfrozen, but she was still shivering, feeling the coldness of the Spectral Ice. She couldn't move either, not with her legs frozen. It was thanks to the Arceus Pendant around her neck which started glowing in response to this Spectral Ice attacking her body that she was able to stay active.

"My friends...!" Sci-Twi gasped in horror after seeing her friends enter this frozen state. She then turned to Volo, who was standing there with his hand out. "Volo! Stop this!"

"Not until you hand over the Life Plates, Twilight. You know I won't harm you."

"But you're hurting my friends!"

"They'll be fine. The effect will wear off soon enough, unless I choose to keep it around. If you don't give me the Life Plates, I'll have no choice but to use it again. I can't let you leave with them. I need them."

"You're insane...!" Sci-Twi gritted her teeth, glaring at him. "I thought you were better than this, Volo! I really did!"

"Hm...!" Volo closed his eyes, growling a bit out of visible frustration. By gripping onto the Spooky Plate some more, he suddenly made Weavile transform into a Spectral Mist as well, causing him to move at high speeds. Sci-Twi gasped, seeing the Spectral Ice come her way, thinking she was about to be attacked.

However, it was simply Weavile slashing her bag, breaking it apart and revealing the shrunken Life Plates. Hisuian Zorua and Spike would also fall out of her bag once it was dropped, causing the two of them cry out a bit.The three of them fell on the ground, rolling across it before stopping. Weavile would then pick up the Plates with his Cold Spectral body, as if he were the wind. After grabbing them, he dropped them into Volo's hands.

"Volo..." Sci-Twi was devastated, seeing him take the Life Plates. She had failed to protect them, leaving her distraught.

"Return Weavile." Mars said, returning Weavile back into his Poke Ball. The energy emanating from him would fade away now that he was back in his Poke Ball. She would then approach Volo, looking at the Life Plates in his hand. "

"Yes. But first, I must deal with these girls." Volo said, holding the Life Plates in one hand while holding the Spooky Plate in the other. He would then hold the Spooky Plate above the Life Plates, using its power to shrink them down. Afterwards, he placed them into his pocket, having them secured.

"What are you going to do?" Mars asked.

"I'm going to erase their memories." Volo answered. "It's the best thing I can do for them. They won't remember anything that happened here. Not even meeting us. It'll be like they never met us."

"I see. Then go ahead." Mars nodded.

"Wait! Don't!" Sci-Twi tried to stop him, but it was too late. The Spooky Plate's power was already being unleashed, creating a Spectral Mist that would engulf the area. The mist would spread all over the place, covering the entire forest.

"Ngh...!" Sci-Twi grunted as the Spectral Mist entered her body, causing her to shiver. She felt her mind becoming hazy as she was losing consciousness. The same could be said for the others as they were also affected by the Spectral Mist.

"No...!" Sci-Twi cried out, trying to resist it. However, at that moment, the Arceus Pendant would shine even brighter than ever before, protecting her from the effects of the Spectral Mist. The light from it would expand to great levels, illuminating the whole area and causing Volo to back away, shielding his eyes.

"What?!" Volo gasped as the light was blinding him. He couldn't see anything and neither could Mars. The Spectral Mist would also disperse, vanishing into thin air. For the first time, a huge chunk of power from the pendant had been unleashed.

Like a beautiful phenomenon, that light would ascend, piercing the night sky and illuminating it, giving it a vibrant view for many afar to see. The stars danced beautifully underneath them.

Once the light died down, the Spectral Mist was gone along with the cold presence of the Spectral Ice. Everyone who was frozen was now free, including the girls. They were all on the ground, unconscious.

"What just happened...?" Mars questioned.

"I don't know..." Volo narrowed his eyes, wondering what that was. He didn't expect such a powerful reaction to occur. He was certain that the Spectral Mist would affect them all, but it seemed that wasn't the case. "That pendant...was it Arceus protecting her?"

Volo, for the first time ever, saw a massive glimpse of Arceus. The light from the pendant was his presence as he shielded Sci-Twi and her friends from losing their memories. He froze for a moment before turning around, facing away from Sci-Twi.

"Mars. Let's go. We're done here." Volo ordered, deciding to call it here. Arriving at the scene in time to see Volo and Mars leaving was none other than Ash, Twilight and Fluttershy. They had finally arrived, having seen the end of this confrontation. But noticeably, Cynthia wasn't present here.

"Twilight!" Twilight Sparkle ran over to her counterpart, seeing that she was unconscious. "Twilight!"

Ash did the same, running over to Sci-Twi. He would pick her up, holding her in his arms. "Come on! Wake up!"

"Ash..." Sci-Twi uttered upon seeing his face. The light of Arceus allowed her to open her eyes a bit before passing out once more."Twilight!" Ash gasped, shaking her a bit. But she wouldn't wake up. She was still unconscious.

"Audi! Use Heal Pulse!" Fluttershy exclaimed as Audino was already on it.

"Dino! Audino...!" Audino's arms were outstretched as a green aura would emerge from her body, enveloping Sci-Twi and the others. The healing energy would enter their bodies, restoring them. While their injuries were healed, they were still unconscious and needed some time to recover properly.

As Volo and Mars were walking off, leaving the scene before they were caught, the man of the past came across a face that looked all too familiar to his own. Standing there was none other than Cynthia, who had found him at last. At last, Ancestor and Descendant meet. The two last two remaining members of the Celestica People.

"C-Champion Cynthia!" Mars stuttered as she was in absolute shock.

"So...You're her. My descendant." Volo spoke as his cold gaze met with Cynthia's.

"We finally meet. The one causing others so much distress." Cynthia replied. "Volo."

"I was hoping to finish up for the night, but I suppose this is interesting enough to keep the night a bit active. Meeting my descendant somewhat cushions what I'm feeling right now." Volo put on a light smirk. "What a treat this is."

"I wish I could say the same." Cynthia narrowed her eyes. "But I've heard about everything you've done as of recently. And even minutes ago. I can't say I'm proud to call you my ancestor at all. How could you cause so much distress for Twilight in such a way?"

"That's none of your business." Volo closed his eyes while turning his head. "Even as my descendant. Then again, a part of me has been wanting to meet you even after learning about the disappointment you brought. You and I both share a wonder for Pokemon Mythology and everything surrounding it and yet you go about it differently."

"We do. But mine is without the distress of others involved." Cynthia pointed out, making Volo scowl a little bit. "I had hoped the news reports on you weren't what they seemed."

"Those reports can say whatever they wish to say." Volo shrugged. "Not that it'll matter by the end of it. My goal of meeting Arceus will end with me returning to my time once I uncover the truth."

"And how many people have to suffer because of that? What about Twilight? She trusted you. She believed in you. And you betrayed her trust. I don't know what happened between you two, but I can tell that she's deeply hurt."

"It wasn't supposed to be like that. But it is what it is now. From this point on, I do things my way instead of with her. That way, she won't have to worry about me any longer." Volo declared. "And by the end of it all, all things Pokemon will be unveiled to me, including the world."

"There's more to it, isn't there?" But Cynthia felt that Volo had something else in mind. Not just meeting Arceus and speaking to him. Volo was rather surprised that Cynthia managed to see through him so quickly. "What's your true intention of meeting Arceus."

"As my descendant, you should know the answer to this. But I guess not." Volo frowned before clenching the Spooky Plate. Harnessing its power, he would begin turning his body into a spectral mist once more, preparing to depart. "Let's meet again, Cynthia."

"Wait!" Cynthia tried to stop him, but it was too late. Volo was already gone, vanishing from sight while taking Mars with him. "Volo..."

The Next Day. Sandgem Town.

A new day had risen as the Sun shined upon Sinnoh. It was morning as Ash and Twilight were sitting outside of the hospital, waiting for Sci-Twi and the others to wake up. They had been waiting for a while, hoping that they'd wake up soon.

"I hope they're okay." Twilight said.

"They'll be fine." Ash assured her. "I'm sure they'll wake up soon."

"I hope so." Twilight sighed. "I'm worried about them."

"I am too." Ash nodded. "But we can't do anything else except wait."

"Yeah." Twilight agreed. "I just wish I could've done more. If only we weren't too late, we might've stopped this. We might've been able to help them. Now Volo has those Life Plates with him."

Volo was now in possession of the five Life Plates while the Dragon Shard was still a shard, not yet restored. The fact that Volo had the Life Plates meant that he was one step closer to reaching his goal.

Sunset Shimmer was also present here, sitting around while next to Rainbow Dash as the two of them didn't suffer any major damage as their friends. Sunset was waiting for Sci-Twi to recover just so she could chat with either at last.

However, despite Sci-Twi finally ending things with Volo, it was still a downer since her trust had been broken once more. To have it be shattered twice in such a big way, just as big as the first time was disheartening for Sci-Twi. Sunset wondered if Sci-Twi would ever be able to fully trust anyone ever again.

She clenched her hand, blaming herself for how this all turned out. She wished she was honest from the start so that all of this was voided. But she also blamed Volo, turning all of her anger towards him. Cynthia stood in the corner, watching them all and their respective reactions. While doing so, she thought about the conversation she had with Volo that night.

Based on what she heard, she would meet Volo again. Potentially soon especially with the number of Shards remaining. Five of them have become Life Plates while one was still a shard. There were six of them that were still shards as some were either in Lena's Possession or the Professors' while the Fire Shard was still somewhere in Alola.

That meant, only 6 Shards remained, hidden somewhere in the world.

"It's getting far too close now..." Cynthia said to herself. "We need to find those 6 remaining shards as soon as possible. Before he does.

With 6 Shards remaining, no doubt, both sides would work hard to try and find them before it was too late. The location of the remaining 6 were unknown but they both had the means to find them as soon as possible. For Volo, his bracelet and for Ash, his watch.

Cynthia could already tell that what transpired tonight would not compare to what might come at the end. Based on what she knows from Volo, his goal could lead to an even greater storm of disaster. And with just six shards left, that disaster would potentially come soon.

As the journey continues.
