Farewell, Ancestors

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Sinnoh. Near Mount Coronet. Nightfall.

With the tear closing up, the sight of the Renegade Giratina could be seen from afar. Giratina had flown back to the Distortion World, no longer having any business here. It was all said and done at last, bringing closure to this issue that spanned two different eras entirely. The last thing the people of Sinnoh all heard was the roar of Giratina, echoing across their now clear heavenly skies.

After the tear was closed, Team Galactic ran up to Cyrus as they met him back on the ground right next to Mount Cronet. They just had to see him after all these years of missing him. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn were absolutely ecstatic to see their leader again.

"Master Cyrus!" Mars cried out.

"You're alive!" Saturn gasped.

"Mars, Saturn, Jupiter..." Cyrus would look at each of them, seeing how much they've grown since he last saw them. "It's been a while."

"We thought you were lost forever!" Mars sniffled.

"But we never gave up hope! We always believed that you were still alive somewhere!" Saturn explained.

"And now...Here you are! In front of us!" Jupiter added.

"To think that you waited for me all these years...Your loyalty is unmatched, I can safely say." He closed his eyes. "For that, I'm thankful."

"D-Does this mean that Team Galactic is back?!" Mars was thinking that Cyrus would fully restore Team Galactic to what it truly was now that he had returned.

"No. I'm not returning to my former life. I have no intention of doing so." Cyrus would reveal. "I will instead be starting anew. I plan to live a new life. A life where I can put everything behind me. I want to start fresh."

"I understand, Master Cyrus." Mars nodded.

"If that's what you wish, then we'll respect your decision!" Saturn bowed.

"We're just glad that you're alive!" Jupiter smiled.

"If you wish to follow me, do so. Having others around me isn't so bad. But before you do so...The rest of you will have to wait to see me again."

"Eh?! What do you mean by that?!" Saturn stumbled back.

"You assisted in helping Volo in his quest, even though you mainly wanted to free me." Cyrus was not biased for even a moment. He still showed fairness. "You will have to accept the punishments that come from it.

"W-We understand..." Mars stuttered as she, Jupiter and Saturn understood that is what needed to be done. If Cyrus requests that from them, then they would do it.

"You can always just bail them out with funds, however." Approaching them was Cynthia, who was seen with Ash, Sci-Twi and all the others. "Cyrus."

"Hmph." Cyrus also hasn't seen Cynthia in a while. But he had nothing to say to her. All he did was walk off, ready to begin his new life in the world. Team Galactic would soon follow them, having the intention of turning themselves in.

"T-Twilight!" Before they could leave, Mars would have one thing to say to Sci-Twi. "Thank you! Thank you for keeping your promise!" She would bow before leaving with the others.

"N-No problem!" That made Sci-Twi all the more happy. She managed to keep her promise in the end. Thus, Team Galactic could leave with a satisfied heart. They wouldn't even care about being turned in now that Cyrus was back.

"Hey...Where's Volo anyway?" Sunset asked, noticing that Volo wasn't around.

"Mmm. He just disappeared out of nowhere without us seeing." Ash replied, revealing that Volo had managed to leave their sights. "I think it was maybe after Giratina returned to the Distortion World."

"That snake...I say we track him down and put him behind bars!" Rainbow Dash bellowed.

"Rainbow Dash. We can't do that. If we do, then time will be ruined regardless." Twilight pointed out. "Either way, time will reset so it wouldn't matter anyway."

"Yeah...I guess you're right." Rainbow Dash sighed, knowing that there was no point in doing that.

"There's still one last thing to do. Most likely, we'll be seeing Volo for one more time and that's because he and Lena will be returning to their time." Cynthia explained. "Lena should be at Alola by now, where the final shard is."

"Yeah." Ash would open his bag, revealing that he had gathered all the Life Plates and even the egg that Volo had taken, keeping them safe. All of them were to be returned to Lena, who would then return to the past with Volo. With the last shard being at Alola, all they would have to do was get these to Lena and reform the Fire Shard into its original state as a Life Plate and after that, it would be the end of this debacle.

Alola.

The Moon had already risen over at Alola by the time they arrived. It was nighttime when they got there as they would arrive at the location where the last shard was located. The place was a beach as well as a forest area. A beautiful sight to see.

Waiting there was Lena, who was with Kukui and the others. And of course, Charizard was holding the Fire Shard, being the one to successfully retrieve it. At last, all 18 of them were together and thankfully, no volatile reactions were going off. Their power had been held back, courtesy of Giratina.

"All 18 are finally here. But to really end it, we'll have to restore the Fire Shard to what it was." Lena commented as the Life Plates and the Fire Shard were all placed on a table. Once together, Lena would then hold onto the Arceus Egg which was once within her body, but now it was in her hands. She would then use her powers to channel the energy of the Life Plates into the egg. She could still utilize it even if it wasn't in here anymore.

The egg would glow, responding to the Life Plates' energy. This would cause the Fire Shard to react as well, floating into the air. The other Life Plates would also float into the air, surrounding the egg. The egg would then spread its light across them all as the Fire Shard could be seen changing shape.

It would begin to morph, turning from a shard into a full plate. The Flame Plate would then descend back down, landing on the table. It was fully restored, just like the rest of them. The egg would then stop glowing, having done its job.

Lena would then put her hand over all of the Life Plates while holding onto the egg. She would close her eyes as a light would fly forward, stopping midway in the air. It would then split into two, creating a portal that would lead to the past.

"That should do it." Lena would then gather all the Life Plates, placing them in her large bag now that they have finally served their purpose. "Well, that's about it. I should be going now."

"You're leaving right now, huh..." Ash's smile would then lower. He knew this was coming, but he didn't want it to happen.

"I am. There's no point in staying any longer. Time will reset itself soon enough." Lena explained while approaching Ash. "I shouldn't even be in this era, or even in Hisui to begin with. Even when I return to Hisui, eventually, I'll return to my own time that predates Volo and everyone I've met there. That's just how things are."

"I didn't get to spend that much time with you, grandma. There's so many awesome things I wanted us to do together. Like go to a festival or something." Ash would say. "Oh, man! If you were at the Pokemon Festival with us, that would've been so awesome! Oh and you could've seen one of my World Championship Battles and then some! There's just a lot"

"All of that does sound fun!" Lena's eyes lit up as she shared the same excitement as her descendant. "I would've loved all that! But...With time resetting, I'm not sure I would even remember all of it."

"R-Right..." Ash lowered his head. "That makes sense."

"Even so, for these last few moments of us being together, I can say this. I'm proud to have you as my descendant. And I'm glad to see where my family has ended up in the future." She placed her hand on Ash, showing how proud she truly was. "I couldn't ask for anything more Everything my parents taught me and all that Grandfather shared with us paid off."

"Lena! Lena!" Just then, in the distance, three figures could be seen sprinting over at full force. None other than Team Rocket. Jessie and James had fully recovered ever since yesterday, having spent the day resting. They were also able to catch Meowth after he ran away from them. And this time, they didn't put on any elaborate disguises or anything. This time, they appeared as how they truly appeared.

"Team Rocket?!" Sci-Twi gasped.

"What are they doing here?" Fluttershy questioned.

"Hold it! We're here to stop you from leaving!" Jessie announced.

"That's right! You're not going anywhere!" James added. "You can't leave! We have so many things planned together!"

"Right! You're only leaving for like a year or something, right? Say it ain't so so!" Meowth wailed, putting his paws together and praying for Lena to stick around.

"You three..." Lena would put on a soft smile. "I figured I'd have to talk to you about this eventually. But I am leaving. It's for the best, I promise. Even so, I'm glad to have met you. Thank you for helping me find the shards."

"But what about the contests we could be tackling together!" Jessie got on her knees, gripping onto Lena's legs. "We could've won so many ribbons together! Mainly in my place!"

"And the food! The delicious food!" James cried out, getting on his knees as well. "You can't leave before I get to eat your cooking again!"

"And the singing! I wanna hear ya sing again!" Meowth would join in, dropping to his knees. "Please don't go!"

"Jessie, James, Meowth..." Lena would look down at them, seeing how sad they were. She knew that they would react like this. But she couldn't stay. She simply couldn't. "I'm sorry. But I must go. I'll miss you all."

"Noooooooo!" All three of them would cry out in unison, hugging her legs tightly. But then, they paused immediately once they realized that she spoke their names. With a sly grin, it was revealed that Lena knew their real names all along.

"Sorry. I didn't want to make you all worry." Lena admitted, putting on a grin. "Either way, I doubt it would've changed much at all. I'm glad to consider you my friends. I hope that we can meet again someday. Somehow. Someway."

"Lena...!" Jessie sniffled.

"Everyone." Lena would then face everyone here, bowing her head. "It's been a pleasure to be with you and work with some of you! Apologies for any inconvenience and the trouble I brought with me! Thank you for your help!"

"Grandma!" Ash would bellow at the top of his lungs, having one more thing to say before her departure. "If there's some chance you remember us...Please! Tell everyone back at the village about the awesome stuff you got to see! Please! And if you can't remember any of this...at least have some awesome adventures along the way!"

"...Ash." Lena uttered before smiling. "Mm! I'll be sure to do that!"

With that, Lena would finally turn around, walking through the portal. Her time here had come to an end. The last Ash saw of his ancestor was her entering the portal as it would immediately close up.

"Goodbye, grandma..." Ash muttered, lowering his head. He was immediately met with a pat on the back from Cynthia. She would smile at Ash, letting him know that Lena would be alright and she would most definitely live her best life. After all, in the original timeline, that's how she lived. Just like Ash. Enjoying the world around her.

The Time Stream.

Lena was currently in the stream of time, gradually making her way back to the present. And while making her way there, she came across the man who would also be sent back to the past automatically. None other than Volo. He sat there in the Time Stream while it carried him, a frown remaining on his face since he had been defeated.

He then looked at Lena who approached him. "Don't you have something to say?" Volo questioned while looking away.

"I don't think there's anything left to say. You already know what I'm going to say." Lena replied.

"Hmph. I suppose you're right." Volo closed his eyes. "I suppose my story has come to an end. And here I thought it would've gone beyond what I hoped it would. So much for living up to my ancestor's legacy."

"Our stories will happen. Or I suppose, they've already happened. It's how things are meant to be anyways...By the end of this, everything you've done won't even be punished. You'll return to life as normal but time will go how it should." Lena responded. "A strange end, isn't it?"

"That's one way to avoid being imprisoned. But what about you? You don't even belong in my own time. You're very much far from home."

"I already had to say goodbye to Ash and my friends in the future...Now, I'll have to say goodbye to more of my friends. Goodbye to Akari, Arezu, Cyllene and everyone in Hisui." Lena would then look up at the flowing colours of the Time Stream, tears forming in her eyes. "I won't even remember them either...Honestly." She would then put her hands on her eyes, the sound of sniffling and whimpering being heard. "It's a bit unfair, isn't it?"

"...You're right. It is." Volo agreed, looking down at the ground. "But that's just how it is. I made the mistake of trying to change fate...but I failed in the end. Unbelievable. To be honest, without you in Hisui, things will be rather boring. Not that I'll remember you at all. We would've never met in the first place. The only way for us to ever cross paths again is from our descendants. Unlucky. Very unlucky."

"Volo." Lena would then sit right next to Volo. "Even after all you've done, I still always saw what you really wanted to achieve. You jerk." She would nudge his arm.

"Oww!"

"You couldn't have gone about it in a better way? It's equally unfair that you won't get punished for this at all. Hmph!" Lena then crossed her arms, puffing her cheeks and looking away from Volo.

"Aah...Hah..." Volo actually didn't have a response to this, merely sighing and nervously chuckling afterwards. "I suppose you're right. I could've gone about it in a better way. I'm sorry."

"Hmph." Lena would continue to pout, but she eventually stopped, letting out a sigh. "Well, I guess you're not so bad. Maybe if we had met under different circumstances, maybe you wouldn't have been so wild. But I guess that's how things are."

"Indeed. I suppose that's how things are." Volo nodded. But just then, as they were about to reach the end of the Time Stream, something majestic would pear before the.m. Right above them, a divine light would appear for a brief moment, catching their attention. It was beautiful and for a brief moment, it looked like the visage of Arceus. They weren't able to fully comprehend what they were seeing as the last thing they saw was a flash of light that enveloped them completely, sending them back to the past.

Eons Ago. Lena's Home Village. Day.

The village where Lena grew up at Eons ago.. A peaceful place full of Pokemon and people who lived together in harmony. The sun had risen over the horizon as the morning had come. And with the rising of the sun, came the awakening of the people of the village. And as they awoke for a new day, two people, specifically Lena's parents were alerted to the arrival of a familiar face. The sun was promptly blocking the figure that was running over here but they could easily tell who it was based on that appearance.

Their daughter Lena, who came running back.

"Mother! Father!" Lena shouted while waving her hand, running as fast as she could.

"Ah, Lena's back!" One of the villagers bellowed.

"Lena's back!" Another villager exclaimed.

"Lena!" The rest of the villagers would run towards her, greeting her return.

"Everyone!" Lena smiled, happy to see everyone again. She was immediately surrounded by many of the villagers, all of them wanting to know where she had been. The greatest grin on her face was shown as she was all giddy in the heart and eyes, unable to contain herself. The people were glad to see her return since she was the first person in their village to ever tackle travelling the vast world of Pokemon.

"Welcome back, sweetie." Her mother said with a relieved smile as her Father dashed over.

"So, how did it go, my little sunflower!"

"Everyone...!" Lena clenched her hands, her teeth fully grit as she was beginning to squee. It looked like she was about to combust with all of this excitement building up. It was something of great importance. Something that she truly loved. Something that she was glad managed to stick around as she yelled with all of her heart. In her eyes, she briefly saw the visage of Ash and her friends.

Whatever she saw there in that Time Stream, it responded to her desire. Her desire to remember. And remember she did. The face of her descendant. The face of the friends she's made from Hisui to Equestria and Alola.

"You won't believe the adventure I had!"

As the journey continues.
