My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Silent Universe
Previous ChapterNext ChapterUniverse 1. The Human World. Day.
A brand new day began with the sun rising high above the horizon. As its rays began to shine down upon the city, a large and mysterious portal would open. From it, the Dream Castle would emerge. This was Twilight Wish's destination. She would step forward, walking onto the balcony. She took in the sights around her, observing the buildings and people that walked by.
"This is the Human World?" Twilight Wish questioned, gazing at the buildings. "Hmm...I think I'm getting more nostalgic looking at it. Reminds me of Megan, honestly."
It was at this moment that Twilight Wish realized, since she was in the Human World, that the magic here promptly gave her a Human Form. With a magical glow, her build changed, resembling her Human Counterpart. She kept all her original colours but with the addition of clothes on her body. Her outfit was purple and pink, a pair of arm warmers and a bracelet.
"Oh...not too bad." Twilight Wish checked herself out, adjusting her arm warmers. "Maybe I should visit the Human World more often. But no! I'm here on a mission. That's what matters. Although...I should've found myself in Equestria instead, but the castle was in too much of a hurry. Even so, I can probably meet up with the other counterpart here. But...I need a plan."
She took a moment to think about what her next course of action was. She couldn't just run out and look for the counterpart, nor could she run around asking people for help.
"Hm." She hummed. "I know."
Currently, Sci-Twi was hanging out with her friends at the local park, where the sun was beaming down upon the greenery and flowers. Sci-Twi's Kubfu and Bulbasaur ran about with their Sunset's Pyroar and Delphox, the Pokemon running and playing in the lush green field.
It was the usual for the day. Just them talking and having fun, doing their usual routine of hanging out.
"Hey, Twilight?" Sunset Shimmer spoke up, her Delphox sitting on the grass next to her. "Everyone. Are you gonna come and see the Grand Festival back in my world? It's coming up soon, so I was wondering if any of you are gonna attend. Because, y'know, it'd be really nice if you all could see it."
"If we go there, we'll turn into ponies, won't we?" Fluttershy pointed out. "I'd like that honestly. To move like a pony would be wonderful. Almost as wonderful as wanting to be a Pokemon."
"Are you talking about that Pokemon Contest stuff? Ehh...I don't know. I don't think I'm into that stuff." Rainbow Dash crossed her arms, her eyes looking up towards the sky. "I'd rather watch that Equestria League, whenever it finally starts. That's way more up my alley than anything else."
"Well, I think it would be wonderful to see that Grand Festival. My own counterpart's Sweetie Belle loves them and is entering it, isn't she?" Rarity said.
"Yeah." Sunset Shimmer confirmed. "I was hoping everyone would tag along so you could see her perform. Not only her, but a bunch of others too. Plus, they're just amazing to look at in general. It'll be a good time, I promise yo that. And hey, we'll all be together so it won't feel as weird being back there."
"I'll tag along." Twilight volunteered. "I want to see what a Contest is like. At its absolute best. As long as I can use the Shift Stone to appear as a human. Still not sure how being a pony would feel like and I'm not ready to find out."
"What about the Equestria League? I know you'll want to see that when it comes around, Rainbow Dash." Sunset Shimmer offered.
"Of course I do!" Rainbow Dash replied. "Oh, how I wanna see that so badly...! All those Pokemon duking it out will be the greatest! Not only that, there's also the World Championships Ash is in. You're gonna see it, aren't you, Twilight?"
"Mhm. I want to support Ash and the rest of my friends, but it'll depend on how busy I am." Sci-Twi answered. "I hope I'm not too busy, because I want to see him at the Master's 8. I know for a fact he'll make it there."
"You believe he'll be the best trainer in the world?" asked Rarity.
"I know he will be. " She smiled with a light blush on her face, prompting Sunset to nudge her.
"Well, I don't doubt that either." A voice responded to Twilight from behind, grabbing everyone's attention. They all looked over to see none other than one of Twilight's Counterparts behind her. Specifically, Twilight Wish, who had a bright grin on her face, waving at them. Upon seeing her, some of them had whiplash as Pinkie Pie fell on her back.
"Eh? It's you!" Sci-Twi gasped, turning around upon hearing her.
"Hi there." Twilight Wish greeted with a wave. "It's been a while."
"A second Twilight?! Or...technically third?!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed when seeing her. She's already seen the original Twilight Sparkle but seeing another who wielded a different colour scheme but an identical face caught her off guard. It especially caught Sunset off guard since this Twilight shared a similar colour scheme to Twilight's mother.
"You showed up here? I-Is something wrong?" Sci-Twi stood up to face her counterpart, getting a good look at her humanized self. "And...you look a lot more like my mom when you're like this."
"Sorry if I gave you all a scare. I didn't really anticipate showing here. The Dream Castle was in a bit of a hurry that's all. To be honest, I'm glad to have met you as soon as I did. You should most definitely know about this."
"If you're here...is it something about Prisma again?" Sci-Twi questioned.
"Mhm. It always is. But in this case, it's the Arcane Institute. After months of being silent, it looks like they're on the move again. Most likely, sending their best to come for the three of us. You, me and the Original Twilight." Twilight Wish swivelled, looking out into the distance and gazing at the city up ahead.
"Again? Is Twilight Moonlight with them?"
"Most likely. Out of all our counterparts, she's still the most dedicated on stopping Prisma the hard way. I still haven't given up on my way of doing things. What about you?"
"I still want to stop Prisma just like how you want to stop him." Sci-Twi admitted. "I'm not sure how though...Nothing's really come up."
"Uh, excuse me." Fluttershy raised a finger. "Who's Twilight Moonlight? And what's an Arcane Institute?"
"She's a counterpart I never told you all about. There's me, her, my Equestrian-self and Twilight Moonlight." While it wasn't news to Sunset Shimmer, to the others, this was all fresh knowledge.
"My name is just that. Twilight." Twilight Wish introduced herself. "But Twilight Wish makes it way easier. You can call me Wish too if you all want."
"They're on the move again? Are they coming here?!" Sunset had to know immediately.
"Probably. I don't know where they're going right now, but it's either coming for us Twilights or any of Prisma's reincarnation. Ash, Red, all those guys. Wherever they are right now. I'm glad I found you first, Twilight. It was actually pretty easy even though it's my first time being here."
"Hm? How was it easy?"
"Well, I've got one other neat trick exclusive to me. I can track down others based on who they love. And your love for Ash brought me to you."
"W-What?!" Sci-Twi had a flustered face upon hearing that while Wish giggled playfully.
"I just have to see both individuals once to know who they love and you sure do love him~" Wish teased.
"S-Shush..." She mumbled, her cheeks red. "So...do you need me to do something?"
"Not really. I don't want to cause trouble for you at all. Being here is pretty risky for me. Being anywhere in general is risky since they can track all three of us down. As long as Twilight Moonlight's with them, they'll know where we are. Now that they're on the move, that's a problem..."
"Well, have you tried concealing yourself somehow?" Sunset stepped forward. "Any spells?"
"...Mmm..." Pinkie Pie tilted her head before coming up with something. "Ah! I got something!" Her shout alerted them all. "Your Shift Stone!"
"My Shift Stone?" Sci-Twi blinked twice, confused as she pointed to her necklace.
"Well, yeah. I don't know, I was just thinking if you could just turn into a fake you and ignore that. Would that work?" Pinkie Pie had a rather outlandish idea. The concept of turning into what was essentially themselves but not really confused them.
"..." The two Twilights stared at her with confusion on their face, trying to process that logic. However, after processing it, Sci-Twi clicked with it right away. "Oooh! That's genius, Pinkie!"
"It is!?"
"Usually, whenever a Shift Stone is used, if someone turns into a Pokemon, they gain that Pokemon's capabilities, minus the access to moves. I wonder...could we transform our souls?" She raised up the Shift Stone, the crystal shining with a blue hue.
"Transform your souls?" Applejack repeated. "What are you on about?"
"If this can alter our physical appearances to make us different, couldn't we transform our souls as well. Ash figured out how to do something like that when he made us all Demons, remember? He messed with the Shift Stones to where it did more than just change our appearance and made us all gain magic. So it's pretty obvious that they have more potential than we thought."
"Ah, you're right!" Sunset caught on and so did the others. "Yeah, that'll do the trick! Keep your real soul concealed and make it harder for them to find you both! Good thinking, Pinkie."
"Thank you. Thank you." Pinkie Pie did a bow.
"Hm. Strange, but I like it." Wish giggled. "Glad I showed up here after all. It'd be nice to be as far away from them as possible without needing to hide in Dimensional Space all the time."
"How do we do it though?" Rainbow Dash questioned. "How did Ash pull off turning us into demons again?"
"Hmm...If I recall, he put two Shift Stones together to make them resonate and after that, he let the energy flow into the plants of Gaea Everfree. And that's how we all become Demons. So for this, we'll need another Shift Stone again but this time, we need to merge their power with your souls." Sunset explained.
"That might work." Twilight Wish was optimistic. "Let's try it. If not, we'll think of something else. No problem."
"Okay." Sci-Twi agreed with that statement.
"But how exactly are you going to get the energy inside of your souls? It's not exactly out there lie a plant." Rarity shrugged, pointing out the oe issue.
"Nothing my Dusknoir can't handle." Sci-Twi adjusted her glasses with a smile before looking back at her counterpart. "Could you head to Equestria and get a second Shift Stone? Let's do it quickly?"
"Is there a quicker way to get there? I tried going there instead of here but...missed the mark." Wish scratched her hair.
"Oh, there's a totally easy way to do it. The statue over at our school that'll get you there." Rainbow Dash would gladly show her the way. Truth is, she was never far from Equestria in the first place.
Universe 17.
Elsewhere, away from the Human World and Universe 1 as a whole, at this very moment, Rarity and the others were still on their search for Red and the others, just to ensure Ash's safety. They had been gone for 3 weeks, entering other worlds entirely. Thankfully, those worlds were part of the Universal Alliance, so they were safe to pass through without any issues. And one universe they were currently in was the 17th Universe.
A Universe known for complete silence. This was nicknamed the Silent Universe. Communication in this universe is entirely nonverbal. Speech and sound don't exist, forcing its residents to rely on body language, gestures, and other forms of expression. Even the sound of footsteps were non-existent, leaving a deafening silence that many people would get accustomed to over time.
The air was denser, sound waves being impossible to travel through at all, making a normal voice completely useless. As such, the residents here communicate in other ways, making them experts in nonverbal communication and sign language.
The girls had just now visited this universe, passing through the gateway and being met with a guide there. The guide was a stallion who naturally said absolutely nothing or made a single sound.
By coming here, they heard that Red was recently spotted in this universe, prompting them to make haste here. And once they arrived by the guide showing them the way, they realized something.
"...?" They couldn't hear each other either. As soon as Rarity opened her mouth to speak, nothing came out. It was the same for everyone else. They all knew it too, seeing their faces of shock.
"...!" Rainbow Dash spread her hooves, trying to bellow at the top of her lungs, confused as to why they were all silent. They weren't born in this universe after all, but it seemed as though the way this universe works negates anyone's ability to talk or make any kind of sound at all.
Pinkie Pie would do her usual bouncing which would normally make a sound, but even she was prevented from any form of audio. To think that Red came here, although this did look up his alley. Red was a silent fellow himself, so he would blend in perfectly if he was trying to hide from someone.
Fluttershy looked at the guide, actually having a way to communicate with him. She would use body language to communicate, similarly to how she speaks with some of her Pokemon and animals.
"..." The guide signed with his hooves, using various hand motions that only Fluttershy could read. Fluttershy followed then, nodded in response. After doing so, she would turn to face her friends, translating what he just said. But she didn't just translate, she spoke to them telepathically, her voice catching them off guard as it rang in their heads.
They grimaced and shuddered once her voice met with their mind unexpectedly. Fluttershy should be incapable of using telepathy but this universe seemed to be allowing her to. All thanks to the guide who informed her
"He says that communicating with telepathy is the way to go in this world." Fluttershy's voice spoke to them all. "It's actually pretty easy to learn, even if you're not a unicorn or alicorn."
"W-What?" Pinkie Pie's eyes widened. "So I could have an entire conversation with him and not even move my mouth at all? Oh, that'll be sooooo awesome!"
"I'm not sure I'll get it as easily." Rainbow Dash admitted, her wings ruffling. However, she soon realized that she got it instantly. To say that it wa easy was an understatement. "Oh!"
"My. How nifty." Rarity's lips did not move as she spoke, but her voice was heard in everyone's minds. "Well, now that this issue's been cleared, is it true that you saw Red here?"
"We did. He went straight to Mindspire City for the sake of exploring. It's the central city of our world and it's not that hard to miss." The guide explained to them. "But, now that you're in this world, there are a few things you need to be 100% aware of. First and foremost, you need to know who exactly you're speaking to through the mind."
"Is that a problem?" Fluttershy asked.
"Oh, yes. In our universe, there are Mindshapers, Dreamlookers and Mindshades. Since silence is what powers our universe, the ways we communicate via our minds vary. I'm a Mindshaper, which means I can easily speak to you all like this and it's easy for anyone to learn. Dreamlookers can also see dreams, but it's not that simple. Lastly, there's the Mindshades."
"Are they dangerous or something? Should we look out for them?" Rainbow Dash inquired.
"Well, even after Daybreaker's defeat, it's not like danger magically vanished from our world. They were just hiding from Daybreaker all this time and were waiting for their moment to spring back into action." The guide shook his head. "Either one of three I mentioned will try and mess with you, so just be careful. But most importantly of all, be careful of the monsters we have here."
"Ooh!" Fluttershy was interested in that. Anything having to do with creatures was her cup of tea. "Like?"
"Watch out for Thoughtreavers, Mindshredders and Echovores." He explained. "Thoughtreavers are capable of trapping your consciousness, rendering you unable to move for a time. They can also steal memories or important knowledge from you, leaving you confused or lost. The more they feed, the more intelligent and dangerous they become. Mindshredders can cause a rapid and overwhelming storm of thoughts in your mind, making you unable to focus, think clearly, or use telepathy. And Echovores? Yikes..."
"Y-Ya'll have stuff like this in your world? Are we even safe?" Applejack was shocked.
"Echovores are the worst. They thrive on delayed telepathic messages, sensing and devouring the mental echoes that linger between transmission and reception. These creatures are drawn to locations where communication is slow, attacking when their prey is most vulnerable. Look out for them. But hey there's no need to worry. We have spells to reverse most of these issues, so it's A-Okay."
"...Aha..." The girls slowly nodded at that with nervous tones, a bit worried now. They would advance to find Red while also having to look out for these mysterious creatures. It would be exceptionally difficult because of the fact that everything in this universe was silent. So there was no way of knowing where they were coming unless it was via telepathy or by sensing them somehow.
Mindspire City.
Mindspire City.
The counterpart to Canterlot in this universe. Mindspire City is the pinnacle of telepathic civilization, a grandiose tower-city that stretches high into the sky, reflecting the brilliance of its people’s mental prowess. It’s a city where thoughts are as tangible as words, where every citizen is a master of telepathic communication, and where the collective knowledge and wisdom of generations are shared instantly and seamlessly. In a world like this, they had to learn such skills to their utmost potential.
Fluttershy and her friends gazed at this large city, seeing how it was structured. Due to its layout, the higher one goes, the more prestigious and specialized the districts become.
They were currently at a district known as the Lower Spire. This district housed the general population. It was a lively area where telepathic abilities are used for everyday tasks, from communication to entertainment. The streets are wide and filled with floating mental projections—thoughts, ideas, and memories—displayed as visual or sensory experiences in public spaces.
This is where they would start their search for Red just to speak with him as soon as possible. Pinkie Pie's Slurpuff would be tasked with tracking down his scent. Thankfully, scent was silent in this universe.
"Mm, hm, hm, hm, hm~!" Pinkie Pie was the most energetic out of everyone, enjoying the silent world to its fullest. "I'm so not used to this! Everything's totally silent which means no music or party blowers or anything, but that doesn't change that it still looks good!"
"Pfft..." The others giggled a little, following Slurpuff as it picked up the scent of Red, sniffing around to lead them in the right direction. It seemed like he had gone quite the distance, but it was easy to follow the scent of someone you've met once. For a Slurpuff, at least. However, the girls made sure to also ask around for any advice.
For Audino, this was a great disadvantage for her. Her best quality was rendered useless in this universe. Her power to hear extremely well was made null. Not that it would've helped them find Red anyways since he was constantly quiet.
"Puff Slurpuff!" Slrpuff looked up, raising his head and focusing at the highest point of this city. Specifically, the Upper Spire.
"Ah, so he's up there, eh?" Pinkie Pie translated.
"Are you looking for someone up there?" One of the ponies went up to the group, noticing their intense focus on the Upper Spire.
"We are. Have you seen a guy wearing a red getup recently?" Rainbow Dash asked. "He's way taller than all of us here and has a pretty cool face."
"Ah, the human." Thankfully, she knew exactly who Rainbow Dash was referring to. "Yes, we saw him. He went up to the Upper Spire, even straight to the castle. Well, it was more like he was requested to be there."
"Requested? Why, what happened?" Applejack questioned.
"If I recall, right now, he's currently in a scuffle with the Princess."
"Scuffle? With the Princess?!" They all collectively shouted in their minds. Based on what they were told, it sounded like Red had gotten himself in trouble already. On top of that, this was a universe allied with the Universal Alliance, so everyone here was on friendly terms.
However, for Red to be in a scuffle sounded like something bad must've happened to ignore those terms. They were hoping it wasn't anything too serious and they hoped that to protect Ash, they wouldn't have to go through another difficult obstacle to do so as the journey continues.
