My Little Pokémon: Grander World
A Mother's Will
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe Lost Universe. Unilight.
The Supernation of Unilight.
Even back then, before Twilight Luminaria was even born, it was still a massive nation, one of the largest in the entire world. The area covered was so expansive that it took up around half of the entire globe, making it the most prominent and populated of the 7 kingdoms, 1 of which is a republic, in the entire planet.
With the other 7, 6 were much smaller, and 2 of which are island nations, though the biggest was a large, circular-shaped landmass located in the west that took up a good chunk of the planet. Still, compared to Unilight, which had a population of around 40 billion people, 4 trillion Pokemon and a few other creatures, the others were minuscule in comparison, the next closest having around 2 billion residents in the nation, and that was a republic, not a kingdom.
Despite being the largest of the bunch, the population was still relatively peaceful, with a crime rate so low that the chances of someone perishing to a dark force were almost slim. There was always the possibility of someone passing from natural causes, accidents, or from war, if one broke out, but Unilight was usually able to avoid any conflict and maintain a peaceful existence in the planet, and the universe as well. They did not need to interact with other lifeforms, and could instead stick to their own devices and live happily together, no matter the cost.
But there was one thing that made Unilight a bit special. The nation itself had 6 separate areas. One was the main, and the largest of them all. The rest, numbering 4, surrounded the main part, and the 6th, and final, was an isolated island in the southeast, near a tropical archipelago of islands that were home to many Water-type Pokemon and a plethora of sea creatures.
Unilight's main nation, also called Unilight, was a continent filled with a large variety of biomes before what it became in the future. There was the mainland, which was home to a variety of cities, villages and other settlements.
The majority of the nation's population was on this piece of the nation. There were the standard grasslands that were common in the northern region, a vast expanse of land filled to the brim of forests, jungles, mountains, rivers, lakes, valleys, hills, caves, cliffs, oceans and the occasional body of water in between.
But the center of the nation was a place known as the Central Region, a massive city, or in some cases, an amalgamation of cities, towns and the occasional rural area, that had its borders and territory expanded to such an extreme that it eventually swallowed a portion of the north, east and west, leaving behind an empty spot in the middle that would soon be occupied by something else.
This 'something' would be the nation's capitol, a place known simply as the Capitol, or the Golden City, or the Royal District, or a wide variety of names that would change depending on who was in power. In the case of the current ruler, it was a male named King Solario.
And in that capital, living there was a woman that resembled Delia herself. Her name was Selene.

Selene was Unilight's Minister of Diplomatic Relations and the eventual Queen of Unilight, despite the fact that she was a human.
It was her job to represent the interests of Unilight and to make sure that the rest of the planet knew what they were doing, and that they were not doing anything that would upset anyone else, even though it would take years for that to actually happen.
She lived in the royal district, as one would expect, in a massive mansion that was one of the many places she owned, but was also one of the few places where she would reside most of the time. It had all of the luxuries one would expect, as well as some that were a bit more uncommon. This was her story.
"Good morning, good morning." She said to a group of unicorn and pegasi as they trotted past, the sun shining on the golden and white fur of their coats, their manes and tails flowing behind them in a gentle breeze.
"Morning!" A unicorn called, his eyes wide and bright.
"How are you today, Mystic Advisor?" One of the pegasus asked, a female, her wings fluttering in anticipation of flight, a look of joy in her blue eyes. "Well, thank you. And I hope the same can be said for you."
"Oh, we're doing fine, ma'am." The unicorn replied, looking up at her, his face breaking into a grin. "Just enjoying this lovely day!"
"Yes, it's quite the nice morning. How's the weather, anyway?" She asked the pegasus.
"Well, it's been pretty good. No storms, no snow, nothing like that. We're expecting clear skies, though, and the temperature will be pleasant." The pegasus answered, smiling, her tail swaying back and forth.
"I see. Then that means Lugia and Rayquaza's treatment went well, I presume?" Selene wondered, a smile on her lips.
"Ah, yes. It seems the treatments worked perfectly." A new, deep, and calm voice joined the fray, making everyone, especially the advisor, turn their heads. The voice came from a dragon-like being that was about twice the size of the unicorns.
"To be fair though...It would have been much easier if we could have gotten that Storm Behemoth to stop causing havoc on the other continent..." Another pony said. "It was such an inconvenience. We lost at least a week of travel trying to find that thing and then convince it that its destructive actions are going to have repercussions in the long run." That last sentence was a little bitter.
"It is a shame. But nothing we can't fix. Although, now you'll all have to do overtime for these Behemoths." Selene added.
"Ugh..." Some of them groaned, clearly not happy to have to work extra. Though the extra pay was always welcomed. Especially since they could use the money. They had no choice in the matter, after all. "So...What do you have planned, Miss?"
"A lot is ahead of us these coming months. But I assure you, we'll pull through. But I have something special coming soon." She would place her hand on her own stomach. "In a few months, my baby will arrive, and I will have to go on maternity leave to raise him."
"Really! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you." A unicorn mare cried, her voice full of emotion.
"Yeah, that's great news!" A second agreed. All of the others, including the two pegasuses and the dragon-like being, offered similar congratulations to her.
"Why, thank you." She smiled, patting her tummy a few times, her expression becoming a bit more serious. "Now, let's talk business. First, let's discuss how we're going to handle the situation with the Storm Behemoth."
"The best course of action would be to negotiate. Try and get the beast to agree to stay away from our cities. Maybe give it a few offerings, or promise not to disturb its dimension, in exchange." One of the unicorns suggested. Most nodded in agreement.
"And what if that doesn't work? What's plan B?" Selene asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Eeehh..." They all paused, thinking hard, until one spoke up. "...Plan B is, uh...well, a combination of bribery, flattery, and, in a pinch, force, if needed. But the odds of that are very slim. Very, VERY slim..."
"Hm. Not a bad plan." Selene conceded. "We just need to make sure we don't lose our edge in the negotiations. Otherwise, we risk losing a whole lot. So, who wants to try and negotiate with the behemoth?"
The silence was deafening. None of them were willing to speak, as the mere prospect of having to face such a monster sent shivers down their spines, and no amount of reward, no amount of riches, would ever be enough to compensate the fear, the terror, the sheer horror, and the inevitable pain, that the thought brought on their minds.
"Nobody? Well, alright." She chuckled. "I guess that's the end of that topic, for now." After that, they discussed the various matters of the kingdom and the state of the rest of the planet, from the political climate of the nations, to the natural environment of the continents, and the current condition of the other planets and moons in the solar system. The discussion ended when a bell rang, signifying that the council had come to a conclusion on the major issues.
"Okay, meeting adjourned. Thank you all." She would bow and walk off to continue her duties, and in her mind, she was already thinking of a way to deal with the stormy titan.
Once she was finished with her daily duties, she would come and visit the King in his room. She had been summoned by him to his room, visiting the current member of the Luminaria family, a rather large, yet surprisingly fit and strong-looking man. He wore a crown on his head and a cloak around his shoulders. He looked at her, his gaze soft, his mouth curled into a gentle smile.
"I am glad to have the opportunity to see you, Minister Selene." His words carried a weight to them, and the respect he held in his voice was clear, even if it was only her that was there to listen. "I have heard the rumors that have spread regarding the child in your belly. A male, I assume. Is your husband still not present?"
She smiled and bowed to him. She was not the kind of person to hide her feelings from anyone, and in the case of her child, the king himself, she had no qualms admitting to him that the rumors were indeed, correct. "I'm afraid not. He hasn't yet come back from his expedition." The king nodded and stood from his chair, approaching her slowly. As the ruler, the most powerful individual in the kingdom, his presence was a commanding one. Yet, the warmth of his soul radiated from him in a calming manner. She couldn't help but feel safe in his presence.
"Such a pity. If he were here, I would make him king next due to his experience. But I understand he's not fit for it. Either way, the next in line to the throne is not too far from now." The King added. "Selene. I am still strongly thinking about making you next in line as Queen."
"Still, Your Majesty? I'm still not positive that I'm fit for that role. What about your son? He is the one next in line."
"Bah. He's far too young and not yet ready. After the stunt he pulled, sending him away to study was the right choice. When the boy comes of age and becomes a worthy ruler, perhaps, and only maybe, will I think about abdicating. I have more faith in you, Delia. You've already proven to me that you're a better leader, a wiser one, than the rest of the members of the court combined." The King shook his head, his voice tinged with sadness. "You're the one who's done the most, the longest, and the hardest, in the entire nation. It would be an insult to your service and dedication, not to mention a betrayal of my people, if I did not put my full support behind you."
Her heart raced, and a light blush crept over her cheeks. "Oh, thank you, King." Her eyes welled with tears of happiness, a rare show of emotion from the woman. She quickly composed herself, clearing her throat. "But raising a child and being the Queen? My goodness..."
"You need not worry about that. Retainers and other servants will handle the boy, without a doubt. You won't have to worry about having to focus too much on raising him and being Queen."
"But...I would prefer to do both, Your Majesty. I could never just leave my child to a bunch of servants to take care of him. That's not fair to the poor little darling." She frowned slightly, shaking her head in a slow motion.
"Hm-hm. I wish I realized that when I became King." He chuckled. "My wife had to retire because of these shenanigans. I was far too focused on protecting my people from the threat of invasion and conquest to notice her needs or desires. Perhaps the biggest mistake of my life." His laughter died, replaced by a sigh.
"Perhaps, then, I should resign and remain at home to tend to the children, should that happen." Selene replied. She was not entirely convinced that her words were sincere, however, and her reluctance showed in her tone. "And besides, your wife will come back one day, I am sure of it."
"No. Please. You are the most qualified and capable person to lead the nation. As far as I know. And besides, the boy will have plenty of company. Whether with your or the many servants and nobles. The latter worries me a bit." He waved a hand, his eyes glinting. "They will protect him and care for him, as if he was their own flesh and blood." The old monarch turned, his gaze settling on her once more.
"I understand, Your Majesty. Get well soon." She gave him another bow, turning and leaving. There were still a lot of preparations to do. Even though her child wouldn't come to the world for at least a few months, there were still a thousand things that needed to be done to prepare, and she wanted everything to be perfect, from his clothes, to his food, and the toys, and even the decorations in the nursery.
Every detail mattered. This was her baby. And the first of hopefully a large family. And the heir to her husband, the King's brother, the next in line to the throne after the prince. She was determined that the child would want nothing, and would grow up to be the most loved, and cherished, and cared-for prince in history. And a wonderful future king.
As she was setting things up, she walked through the hallway with many other ponies and people alongside their Pokemon, chatting away. That's when they came across him. A man with an intimidating aura, someone that made a lot of them tense and a few of the others cower in his wake.
His face was as sharp as his eyes, just like how he carried himself. Since this was a lost universe, it was only natural that many in the current main universe had their incarnations. And the same goes for even the most feared ones of them all. The man standing before Selene was an incarnation of Team Plasma's leader.
Ghetsis.
Or in this case, Thyrian.

A human with a cold glare that could cut through steel and an intense stare that could freeze water. Even the most fierce Pokemon shudder when they see him.
Thyrian was walking down the halls of the castle, his hands folded neatly behind his back. He looked around, studying each person and their Pokemon.
"Afternoon, Thyrian." Selene would greet him while the others quivered, trying not to look him in the eye.
"Hm." Thyrian narrowed his eyes. "Still focusing on those childish decorations? Should you not be focusing on your status as Future Queen of Unilight?"
"Ah. But I am doing that, Thyrian. I am working hard to ensure that the nation runs smoothly. No need for any major bumps along the way. And I'm also preparing myself to become the Queen as well." She said. Her answer was short, and to the point, yet somehow the man didn't seem satisfied.
"Tch. What a waste. Are you seriously considering looking after the boy even after your rise? Leave it to the servants for a majority of his time." Thyrian added.
"But then I wouldn't be a mother, Thyrian. I have to be there for my child." Selene winked. "Plus, you're a father too, are you not? You understand, right?"
"That boy is not my child. He is adopted. And absolutely strange." Thyrian looked away. "Either way, take this seriously. But, I will say this. I went to the Pavillion of the Lake Trio and foresaw a prophecy as always. This time, concerning your unborn child. A mysterious power is within him. One that they can't describe themselves."
"That would be my own magic. How would it be hard to describe? He'll be my son after all and there will be nothing to worry about."
"Hm." Thyrian turned away, walking off. "He is your child, so who am I to say? Just do not get sloppy, or else." He kept going. Selene watched him walk away, a frown on her face. Something felt very wrong. Why was that so-called 'Father' acting that way?
There was a sudden flash of darkness, a deep void that filled a sole room. Then, the vision of a terrifying, dark figure appeared in this roor. It was the form of a massive creature that was a swirling vortex of pure, black chaos, and a glowing red outline that pulsated with the essence of destruction and decay.
Its wings were unfurled, revealing the symbol of its power: the Star Tyrant. A monstrous, evil entity of a different space entirely. An entity of immense power, and one of the deadliest threats to the entirety of creation. And it was here, staring at one person.
Thyrian.
"Do you honestly believe that child is a threat to you in any way?" Thyrian questioned, the monster remaining silent, and seemingly observing him. "Do not make me repeat myself, or else."
A moment passed, the creature finally answering, its voice echoing, distorted, and warped, the sound reverberating in the vast expanse. "...No." the word was long, drawn out, and menacing. It sounded unnatural. Like it was from an alien dimension, a realm of eternal torment and despair. It was an ominous, eerie, and disturbing sound, a haunting echo of the abyss from whence it had originated, and the dark forces that had created it, that had molded and shaped the monster's existence, that had imbued the beast with the will of the Stars.
"Then why even bother? It seems like a waste of time. That boy will become a prince but maybe not a king once the son of the current King returns one day. The Lake Trio states that he has a mysterious magic about him, but his mother is not even among the best magic users, and is only a mere advisor. She has a decent reputation and will soon be Queen, yes, but that's not saying a lot compared to the rest. Nothing to warrant the attention of you, of all entities."
"Not yet. The boy isn't a threat yet. But the Mother..." The Star Tyrant was quiet, a low, rumbling noise coming from the depths of the void. "She's not the problem. It's the boy's Father." It's voice grew louder, its voice gaining a rasping quality. The monster's form was growing larger and larger. It's eyes were glowing brighter. "That is the real issue. His father, a powerful man. The Brother of the King, the true next in line. Not her, nor the Boy, is a threat. But the Man, is the True Threat."
Thyrian was confused, his head tilting to the side in a gesture that seemed oddly similar to that of a human. But the resemblance was not exact, and the similarity was more in the fact that both the Star Tyrant and the man were creatures of the Darkness, and were thus subject to the same laws of the night. The star tyrant had a reason to fear a mere man.
"The Father is nothing special, but the Mother is. The two of them together create an absolutely annoying phenomenon. When one that possesses a power that is dull and average meets another that possesses the same, the resulting effect will cause a chain reaction. The weak power of the two parents, the ones destined to meet, will cause a reaction and a new power will be born." The monster continued to speak.
"Are you joking? By that logic, most children should have some kind of hidden potential in the world." Thyrian would fold his arms. "What is the actual chance that something that ridiculous is happening now, to a pair that isn't that special in the first place?"
"This isn't just a random pairing. They were destined to cross paths and have a son. We're not the only ones to exist in this existence, and that includes the Fates themselves. If they had not crossed paths, or met, that child would have not been conceived, and would not have the potential that will make it the biggest, greatest threat to us, in the future."
Its voice rose to a deafening roar, the ground quaking beneath the man and the stars above pulsating rapidly. Its mouth was opening wide, and a great, dark, purple maw emerged from its throat. "That's why we must destroy the boy, now. While it's still vulnerable, and can't protect itself."
"Or. We can let the child live on and observe it." The Human said. "I have no need to end the boy at this stage. I could, and will, simply raise the kid to not become a problem later. And the prophecy says that the Child will bring salvation to the planet and the cosmos. So, no harm done in letting it survive."
"And what makes you think that the Child won't be corrupted by our presence? Or the other way around? Do not underestimate the will of mortals." Its voice echoed again. "I will certainly not underestimate even you. You mortals defy the odds so much that beings such as myself find you frustrating in so many ways. I am not frustrated by you all, but rather curious. But the boy is a problem that is best solved early."
"Yes. Mortals, or at least the normal, have the tendency to surpass expectations, no matter how absurd they may be." He looked up, a smile forming on his lips, and a wicked gleam in his eye. "You're right to not underestimate us, and especially the Child, no matter how unlikely. But the child is no ordinary child, is it, Star Tyrant?"
"The threat must be expunged. No matter how it is done. This deal I struck with you is one that will pay off, Thyrian."
"It should. I have no intention of becoming King or anything of the sorts. I only seek a greater plane of existence than this. If I can maintain the boy's latent potential, you will leave our world, never having to fear him." He closed his eyes, a smug expression on his face, and a knowing look on his face. "And you'll grant me a higher level of being, of which you promised."
"That is correct, and you better not fail, otherwise the deal is off, and the planet is destroyed. Understand?" the monster asked. A wave of malice radiated from its form, an untold force that threatened to consume all in its wake. "Don't try and double-cross me, or betray me. Because I will find out, and when that happens, I'll make you suffer. You will regret ever crossing me, and I will crush your very soul into a million pieces."
"I'd like to see you try. I will handle this." Thyrian walked off, preparing himself for that fateful day.
After some time, Selene eventually became Queen, the King retired and decided to live elsewhere, reuniting with his wife. Selene ended up becoming the first and only Human Ruler of the Kingdom. It has been exactly a week since Selene became Queen. And during the end of that week, it happened.
Prisma had been born.
Indeed, Prisma was not born in the same era as Twilight Luminaria, but much, much earlier, during the early parts of the Luminaria Family's rule, in a previous age. His conception was a result of fate's work and the simple product of love. As a result, his birth was a miraculous event to external forces.
"He's so cuuuute!" One of the ponies that were present, a female unicorn, squealed, bouncing on her hooves, her eyes shining. She gazed down at the sleeping baby in her friend's arms. "I'm glad you chose to keep him, after all. I was afraid that you'd change your mind. How do you plan on raising him, though? With servants, or are you planning to be the sole parent of his life?"
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Of course, not! Servants will have to watch over the boy, as well. Even though, of course, I will be the main caretaker of the young lad. He will grow to be a strong and capable prince. Eventually, a fine and honorable Trainer. Perhaps the best, yet. I'll have to prepare a ton of lessons, train him to use his magical abilities, and get him ready for whatever challenges come his way."
"Well, that's a lot of stuff, to be sure." The mare replied, grinning. "Just make sure that the boy is raised properly, and doesn't turn out to be an egomaniac, or something. That's the worst that can happen." she chuckled.
"Oh, yeah, that's a good one." The queen smiled and laughed.
After that, the group continued to chat and joke, talking about various things. The topics were varied, and ranged from the state of the nation, to the recent rumors of a mysterious Pokemon that was seen lurking in the forest, to the latest gossip on the court, and to the current state of the world outside of the country.
The conversation was a mix of serious, and lighthearted, and the tone of the talk was relaxed and friendly, a welcome change from the usual stiff and formal discussions of the royal palace, which tended to be full of pomp and circumstance and often lacking in substance.
The topic of the future, however, quickly became the center of focus, and the discussion turned to the young prince. What would the young, newly-crowned queen name her child?
Would he grow up to be a worthy successor of her throne or just be a Trainer? These questions and more filled the minds of those in the room. After some time, a consensus was reached.
They would call him... Prisma. For the prism was a beautiful and majestic object, and it held great significance. It represented a mirror of the self, and a window to a world beyond. And, at the end of the day, that was exactly what they wanted to teach their young prince.
The former King and his Wife showed up to come and see the young prince for themselves, witnessing little Prisma in his bedroom. There was a soft, blue coming from his crib. A few hours had passed since their arrival. The couple were in awe at their grandson, even if he wasn't biologically theirs. Such a small and cute thing.
"Such a miracle to see. And look at all that feistiness coming from him." The former King spoke, smiling. His hands were resting on the edge of the crib. The room was a bit dimly lit, but not completely dark. The glow of the baby was visible to everyone. The baby was awake, his eyes wide open and twinkling.
"Sweet Arceus. That feistiness is radiant..." The wife commented, seeing how much Prisma was flailing his arms, instantly and accidentaly whacking one of the ponies in the face.
"Gah!"
"He'll grow to become quite the trainer, and an amazing prince, I bet." The former Queen continued. "His aura is so vivid and intense. Truly a rare gem. The kingdom will be blessed to have him in the near future." She added. The old monarch nodded in agreement.
"Perhaps. Let's hope that he lives a happy life. Maybe the next heir will be someone like him." He sighed, looking at his son and then back at his grandson. The baby's aura was bright and vibrant, a mixture of colors, and the parents were in a state of joy, watching their grandchild. Their hearts were full of happiness. The sight of the baby's energetic behaviour brought a sense of peace and tranquility to the entire room. It was a beautiful and magical experience.
In her room, Selene began writing a letter, having a Braviary next to her so that it can send the message to a certain someone. That being Selene's husband.
"Dear my Dearest,
We are both aware that the King has already given the throne to me, making me the first human to have such an honor, but the real news here, the reason I'm even sending this to you, is because the baby is finally here, and it's a boy. Our own precious son. He's a gorgeous bundle of joy and his power, even as a newborn, is outstanding. Just imagine when the boy grows older, stronger and more capable of using his powers and other skills. He's the cutest, and sweetest thing. I'm sure you'll love him once you're able to return. We're calling him Prisma, for the beauty of his light. I know you will love him. Please, write to me and let me know that you're alive and safe. Don't leave us in the dark. Be brave and stay true. Your wife."
She finished her sentence, rolling the parchment before tying a red string on it and attaching it to the Braviary's leg, sending him away, through a nearby window. "Be careful and come home swiftly and safely." she called out, watching the bird take off in the distance, and fade into the darkness of the night sky. She sighed and sat back on the bed, her head in her hands, staring at the wall opposite. Her thoughts wandered to the days of the past. Those were the simpler times. Back then, when the whole family was together. She hoped that the Prince will be the glue to bring them all closer. To have a happier family in the end.
Prisma would grow up to a toddler and was beginning to learn to speak. However, at this age, a lot of him is quite a mystery. He would stare at others with his glowing eyes and his hair had grown longer, the same brown that matched his mothers.
Despite the fact that his speech had yet to fully develop, Prisma's vocalizations were a mix of unintelligible gibberish and random sounds, and he would frequently giggle or make noises to indicate that he was amused.
This would also have a positive effect on the moods of those around him, bringing a sense of cheer and joy to the otherwise solemn environment of the palace. Prisma had no control over his magical ability at this age, and would often have a soft, blue glow surrounding his body. The color of his magic is a reflection of the color of his aura.
A soft, and warm shade of the color of his spirit, a reflection of the pure and innocent nature of his heart. When he does have control, the glow will become more focused and concentrated. At times, it will be used to help illuminate a dark room, or to light a path for his mother. And on occasions, it will be a beacon to guide others to safety. But in his toddler years, his use of his powers is sporadic and inconsistent, and can't always be relied upon.
"Ma... ma... ma." He said. Selene giggled, picking up her son, holding him in her arms.
"Awww. That's adorable. My cute little man is saying mama." she cooed. "I can't wait until you can say more. Dada. Or something." she joked, kissing the top of her sons head, ruffling his hair, causing him to laugh and giggle. He would reach out to her face, his hand barely grasping at her cheek. Then, in a flash, he grabbed hold of her face, his grip surprisingly strong for his age. He pulled his head down and began to rub his face against her chin. Selene's eyes widened in surprise.
Her expression was a mix of shock and amusement, her mouth agape. She gasped and blinked, unsure of what to make of this strange display of affection. She would gently pat his head, stroking his scalp. He released his grip on her face, his hand slipping from her skin, his fingers tracing a line across her jawline, his palm sliding from her nose, and his fingertips brushing along the edge of her mouth. She chuckled and shook her head. "My, that was quite the bold move." She placed the child in a highchair, setting him on the dining table, the rest of her family, the previous rulers, joining her.
"How is the young one doing, Selene?" Asked the father.
"Quite fine. He's going to be a handful, soon enough." she replied. She watched her son, who was looking at his grandfather with a blank and unreadable look on his face.
"Aaah..." Prisma opened his mouth, picked his bowl and immediately dumped all of the food in his mouth. Even at this age, he had the same wild appetite that Ash and his other incarnations possessed. He would eat the contents of his meal, holding nothing back.
"Excellent, boy! That kind of eating is proof of someone strong!" The former King laughed. His daughter-in-law would shake her head, sighing to herself. The boy was definitely going to grow to have the appetite that his mother would have, which was a trait shared between the two.
As the boy grew, the similarities in his personality would only increase. Both the boy and the woman would have an unquenchable desire for adventure, an insatiable curiosity, a need for exploration. They were, at the core of their being, the very embodiment of wanderlust and a thirst to see the world.
This was something that the former King admired, even if his wife found it to be somewhat annoying. Still, the pair would share many common traits, and this would be one of them. A connection that the two would share throughout their lives.
In a few moments, the mother and the grandparents would continue their dinner and their conversations. But for now, the boy was busy consuming the food in his bowl, his face and the surface of his skin becoming stained by the various liquids and particles of his meal, the evidence of his voracious consumption. His cheeks bulging and his tongue hanging out, as he devoured his supper.
And then, after the meal had been completed, and the last bite had been swallowed, the boy would close his mouth, and wipe the remaining juices from his chin and the excess food from his cheeks and the sides of his lips.
"Ha ha... Oh my. Guess I have a messy one on my hands, now, huh?"
"Indeed. Though it's a sign of a healthy child, don't worry. Just like how your husband was." The former King responded, wiping his brow and chuckling to himself, the image of his own child, the man that was Prisma's Father, flashing through his mind.
"I'm glad. Let's keep it that way, shall we?" she looked at the mess on Prisma and the table, grabbing a towel to wipe him clean of any residue of the meal.
The days had gone and passed. Prisma was now learning to walk, his steps clumsy and unsteady. He would stumble from time to time, and sometimes fall on his butt. But his mother were patient and would help him get back up on his feet. They were so proud of his progress, and they would praise him every time he made an accomplishment, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.
Naturally, Selene truly loved her son, always making sure to take care of him while being a Queen at the same time. Always.
But then, after 3 years, it happened.
A massive attack on Unilight itself. It was an invasion of sorts, but more of a retrieval mission. Everyone in the area, the soldiers, guards, and even the civilians, had to band together in order to push the threat away and stop the invaders from doing any further harm to the land. This was the most dangerous and terrifying thing that has happened in a while.
It was Thyrian, alongside the Star Tyrant. Two beings, working in tandem, aiming to achieve one goal. Reaching Prisma. Thyrian had his own group of powerful and dangerous Trainers, known as Team Plasma. And the Star Tyrant, had its own minions and agents, who worked to spread its vile will. They were a team, an alliance of two terrible entities that sought to destroy everything in their path, to get rid of any opposition and to gain control of the kingdom, and its people, for their own ends.
Only then would Thyrian's wish of becoming a greater entity be fulfilled. An ascension of the highest level. And the deal would have to go on. Both sides needed each other, and couldn't afford to have a falling out.
Thyrian and the Star Tyrant's forces arrived, their armies of monsters, demons, and creatures from beyond the grave and stars. Their goal was clear. Capture the child.
It was absolute chaos, as the army tore apart the defenses and broke through the walls, the palace gates, and the inner sanctum of the city, and they made their way to the nursery, to grab the young Prince.
Many Pokemon from Unilight fought against these threats. There was a Garchomp that used Dragon Rush, slicing into a swarm of foes. Another had a Salamence, unleashing a Flamethrower that scorched a number of enemies. A Blastoise launched a barrage of water-based attacks.
Other Pokemon and Trainers did the best they could to repel the invasion. All the while, a certain someone was making her way to her child's side. Selene, of course, did her best, and did all that she could, to ensure the safety of her son. The castle and the kingdom were in shambles, but her only concern was that of her boy's well-being.
There were bodies of her guards and some servants lying about. Many were injured or worse. Finally, she reached her goal, a massive pool of Aura surrounding the doors of her son's room. The power of her son's latent abilities were acting in self-defense, creating a forcefield to protect the little child from harm. When she finally made her way inside the chamber, there he was.
Sitting on his crib, crying. He was alone and vulnerable. Scared, afraid of the unknown. She rushed to his side, taking him in her arms, trying to calm the baby. Trying to soothe and reassure the infant that everything was alright. That his mother was there. That he was not alone. That he was protected and loved. But that would soon come to a close, as the door opened, and in walked a tall and imposing figure. Thyrian.
"Thyrian?! Why?! What is the meaning of this?!"
"Tch. I was hoping to raise the child while you were busy with your Royal Duties, but alas, the plan has fallen to pieces, it seems. Oh well." he approached the woman, and her child.
"What were you even planning to do with my son?!"
"Nothing much. I expected him to grow into a prince. But I saw it. Not only did I see his Aura change and fluctuate based on his growth, but I even foresaw more of a prophecy I've been looking into for a while." He gave her a wicked smile. "And that involves the prevention of my ascension. Pardon the rhyme. I would have turned him into the perfect, obedient tool."
"You're a fool to think I will ever let you touch him!" She shouted. "And for what?! Just so you can be king?!"
"King? Don't be foolish, Selene. Why would I ever want to be a King? My goal is to ascend. Ascend end emerge as an even greater being, one that walks the greater planes and be among the stars. That boy is the key to that objective. A King is worthless in comparison to what I desire. After all, what is a King to a God?"
"I won't let you have my son!" Selene barked at him.
"Do you even have the capability to stop me?" Thyrian would launch a Poke Ball and out of it emerged his Hydreigon.
"Hydreigon!"
"I'll make this quick for you, Your Majesty. Hydreigon! Use Crunch!"
"Stop that!" Selene screamed, using a spell to block the move. It was a protective barrier, and it was enough to save her and Prisma from harm, for a few moments, at least. With the barrier, she tried to escape, opening the window of her son's room, and climbing onto the roof, holding her son in her arms.
But Thyrian and his partner pursued, the Dark-Dragon-Type firing Dark Pulses and Focus Blasts at her. She kept running, desperate, panicked, not knowing what to do or how to fight back. The barriers would weaken and eventually disappear, and she would be defenceless once again, at the mercy of her attackers.
"Give him up, or else perish." Thyrian said. The woman shook her head, keeping a hold of her child. "So that's how it's gonna be, eh?" The Ghetsis incarnation would smirk. "Then prepare to become nothing."
"I promise you this, Thyrian. There is not a chance you will succeed. I can even say you won't take my life." Selene narrowed her eyes. "After all, I expect my husband to soon return and by then, you will still be trying to bring down my forces." She closed her eyes, and focused, gathering the power of her soul and the strength of her spirit, to form another barrier, a shield that will last a little while longer. Just enough to allow her and her baby to escape, and survive.
"Your husband?" Thryian chuckled. "That won't be an issue anymore. Prior to this, I managed to pay him a visit in the Greater West. There, I cast the perfect spell to ensure that he never leaves. Outer Eternity."
"You...What?!"
"As we speak, his body is being held by chains from an outer existence entirely, keeping him from even moving an inch." Thyrian smiled, a twisted, cruel expression that showed the malice and sadism in his soul.
"You..."
"Here. Allow me to show you that very same spell." Thyrian's hands began to glow an eerie purple, his pupils vanishing, his voice echoing and reverbing in a thousand voices at once. "Now. You can't run. Hydregion. Stand back."
With Hydreigon moving back, Thyrian would chant the incantation, his aura growing brighter. His hair and clothing blew in an invisible wind. He spoke in a deep and resonant tone, reciting ancient and forbidden words that echoed through the halls of the palace.
The light of his power grew and grew, becoming an intense beam of energy, and in an instant, it was over. The world around him changed, the air thickening, and a strange, ethereal substance enveloped the woman, and her child, binding them in place. The bonds were tight and unyielding, and the prisoners could not move. Then, in an act of supreme evil, the madman stepped forward and extended his hand, his fingers stretching toward the infant, a malevolent gleam in his eye.
"!!" Selene gasped as her body would be caught by these strange chains. In her terror, her panic, and her anger, the Queen was unable to think or reason clearly, and the man took the opportunity to seize the young Prince, tearing him from his mother's arms, leaving her powerless, and helpless, bound to the spot, unable to defend her child from the monster that had stolen him from her grasp.
"These chains will root you in a single moment or sequence of moments in time. You will be unable to escape or resist their preordained fate, bound by my will. But worry not. Once I become a higher being, I will free you and let you live your life. But the boy will be mine."
"Ngh...! Ghhh!" All that magical power was aggressively flying into her body. Her skin was turning a sickly green. She couldn't stand the pressure. She felt weak, drained.
"No... I won't let this happen!" She cried, tears streaming down her face. Summoning every ounce of her will, she fought against the chains. Her aura began to show, a glorious golden light that pushed back against the suffocating darkness.
The chains tightened, digging into her very soul, as Thyrian watched with mild amusement.
"You only captured my husband because he isn't adept at magic at all. I most certainly am!"
"Hoh? But can you even compare to all of this? Especially to him?" Thyrian looked up as the ceiling would break apart. Floating above the building, was the Star Tyrant.
An absolutely colossal and horrific entity, resembling a massive star that is constantly shifting, morphing, and transforming in shape. In the middle of its mass is a large black hole, a dark vortex that devours and consumes anything that gets close. Around the edges of the hole, a number of tentacles are protruding, each one capable of extending to incredible lengths, and able to grasp, crush, or even slice through the strongest of objects.
On its surface, there are glowing red eyes and gaping mouths, each of which has a multitude of sharp teeth and tongues, that are constantly shifting and changing in appearance. These openings serve to devour the matter that the tentacles collect and to expel the energy that is released in the process. As the monster feeds on the material and the souls that surround it, the hole at the center grows larger and larger, its pull becoming ever stronger and its hunger never ceasing.
"You...You actually did it!" Selene looked up in shock while still keeping Prisma close to her. "You joined up with that...thing?!"
"Selene! Suddenly, the voices of the former King and Queen could be heard as they rushed over here to see her. "Are you okay?!"
"Please! Stay back!" she responded, her parents coming to her side, looking up at the Star Tyrant in fear. The beast would look down, speaking in a deep, rumbling tone, a low, guttural growl that vibrates through the earth.
"The boy...Perish along with him." The Star Tyrant would begin generating a sphere of destructive power, intending to blast everyone present, and take the child away to use for its own goals.
The sphere was absolutely massive, being the size of an entire city block, and its power was incredibly potent. It glowed a bright, fiery orange, and the heat that emanated from its surface was so great that it burned the air around it and melted the ground below. It was like staring at the sun, and its rays could be felt from miles away. Within the core of the orb, the power of the destruction was so intense, that its effects would be immediate and devastating.
It was unleashed, descending upon Selene. However, even when restrained, Selene still had the power to defend herself. Using all of her strength, she counterattacked with a veil of light. With her power, the sphere of annihilation and her veil clashed and exploded in a brilliant flash of blinding white.
"Selene! Prisma!" The former rulers screeched as they shielded their eyes from the explosion as well as Thyrian and his Dragon.
As the light of the detonation subsided, the dust cleared. And in the ruins of the battlefield, stood Selene, standing defiant, holding Prisma. A moment passed before she collapsed to her knees, her legs giving way beneath her. The pain of her injuries was too great to bear. Her body was battered and her spirit was weakened, and yet, her resolve remained strong.
However, the chains were still around her, restraining the Queen.
"Ngh...You actually held it back?" The Star Tyrant murmured. "How unexpected, though it was impressive to witness. As expected from mortals." The Star Tyrant's presence grew in intensity, and his power radiated in waves. From its body, tendrils of black energy lashed out, and in its maws, the void of its endless abyssal appetite roared and swirled, ready to devour any who would oppose him.
"Ugh..." Selene groaned as Prisma was snatched from her hands by the Star Tyrant's tendrils. She was left helpless, her body weak and her mind clouded. But her determination to save her child was greater than the fatigue and exhaustion that threatened to overcome her.
"PRISMA!!!!"
"First, I will obtain his power for myself." Thyrian would receive the little boy from the Star Tyrant, who would not yet destroy him. "I will raise him, and teach him the ways of our order. Under the guidance of our mighty Lord, he will be a vessel, and a source of unlimited potential." Thyrian spoke with pride and reverence. "And when the time is right, I will claim his soul, his power, and his will, and make them my own."
"You...You won't get that chance." Selene lowered her head, clenching her teeth while her nails scraped the floor. "Not at all...Not if it all starts over!"
"What did you say?!"
"From where I come from, my family housed many spells, most that were far too great to use. My family swore to never use them no matter what and it has been a powerful oath for centuries. But for this...I will make an exception!" An amazing magic circle appeared beneath her body, the runes and symbols glowing brightly.
Everyone looked down as this magical circle moved rapidly across the room and beyond the horizon, its patterns and colors flashing and flickering. Its shape was that of Arceus's symbol, and its borders were encircled by winding lines and spiraling shapes. Its center was filled with images of the Creators of Time, Space and Antimatter. All around, the atmosphere of the place changed, and the very air itself became charged with a powerful energy. Everyone in the vicinity could feel it, and their hairs stood on end. Something extraordinary was about to occur.
Thyrian and his Dragon stepped backwards, the man shielding himself and his Hydreigon with a spell, while the Star Tyrant had a portion of his tendrils attempt to strike Selene before the spell could go off.
But the sheer force of the magic aura would fend them off. Her will was strong, and the power of the spell would overwhelm the opposition, the other two would not dare to approach, the barrier surrounding the young woman was impenetrable, the field of energy was thick and dense.
"You...!" The Star Tyrant hissed. "Are you insane?! You wouldn't dare!"
"S-Selene! What are you doing?!" The King stuttered.
"I would...For the sake of my child's future, I would gladly do it! I'll reset all of existence!" She declared.
"Don't Selene!" The Queen yelled at him while Thyrian looked in fear, shock and anger.
"It won't just reset everything...it will ensure that you never find him again, Thyrian...Star Tyrant! But as a cost, I may not exist at all...This spell takes out the user as well!" She gritted her teeth, the chains on her breaking apart. This spell would not kill her, but simply erase her from history.
"Selene...!" Thyrian growled at her.
"But Prisma will be alone!" The King spoke. "You can't leave him, Selene!"
"He won't be alone...He will have all of you. I'm counting on you all. Please raise my boy and give him a happy life." She smiled, tears in her eyes. "If anything happens, please help him. Protect him, and love him, like I would. If not for me, then for him." She closed her eyes. "Please...I beg of you."
"But Selene-"
"He'll live on, even without me." she said, a soft smile on her face, the tears rolling down her cheeks, a tear in her eye. "F-Forgive me...my son." she sobbed, the tears rolling down her face.
"I refuse to let that happen!" Thyrian growled as he could already feel everything being reset. The entire landscape was turning white, as if a sketchbook was slowly being erased, or a painter's palette being wiped clean. All the color was leaving the world, and everything was fading into oblivion. Everything was beginning to vanish. The walls and floors of the castle, the sky, and the very ground, were being removed. It was as if reality itself had begun to crumble and dissolve, and the only thing left was an empty, pure white space.
"I have a spell of my own...one that ensures that I-"
"Goodbye, Thyrian." Selene whispered, the glow of her spell becoming brighter and brighter. Her parents, her subjects and friends, her servants, her guards, and the members of Team Plasma. Even the Star Tyrant, were engulfed in the brightness of the light, the brightness of the new universe, a blank slate, waiting to be painted, to be drawn. The spell would take hold of the fabric of creation and would fold and unfold, creating the foundations for the next world to come.
"GAAAAAH!!" The Ghetsis incarnation and his partner would also vanish. He wanted to scream and yell, to protest, to rage, to curse and condemn. He would not allow the child to escape from him. His goal was too great. His destiny too grand. His ambition, his will, his desire to rule and reign was not going to fade away. Not now, and not ever. But his voice was gone, and his mouth was no longer capable of speech, and his mind.
And so, in that instant, everything that was, and that could have been, were nothing, and the world that had existed, the one that was and could have been, were gone, replaced by a fresh, unspoiled, untouched canvas. Waiting, and ready to be used.
In a new universe, Prisma would still be born. But without a visible mother in his life. It started in Kanto. Specifically Pallet Town. But as for Selene herself, she would no longer be the one to raise him. Not at all. In fact, much to her surprise, her own eyes would open, revealing that her existence did not fade away.
Instead, Selene found herself in a vast space of both Light and Darkness. The area seemed to stretch out endlessly in every direction, a boundless void of blackness punctuated by brilliant flashes of radiance that seemed to have no origin or destination. There was no sound, no smell, and no sensation to accompany her, only a sense of weightlessness that made her feel as if she were suspended in the middle of an impossible, eternal night. Looking up, the darkness above her stretched on and on, the pinpricks of light that were scattered throughout the space, shining down upon her.
At that moment, Selene could not comprehend her situation. How did she arrive here? Why was she still in existence? The spell should have erased her completely. However, Selene soon noticed that her body was still restrained by chains. The same chains that Thyrian had used to bind her.
"What...What is this...?"
"Selene, you fool..." Suddenly, a voice spoke to her. The voice of Thyrian, though he was nowhere to be seen. Rather, the voice was reverbing within her mind, her head. "Using such a spell to undo all of existence and wipe it clean. That was truly a desperate and risky move, but it seems to have paid off in some way. After all, we're both alive. We're in a state of non-existence. Neither dead nor living. And neither will ever see Prisma again, it would seem."
"Thyrian..."
"Even now, I can sense that the Star Tyrant has taken on a different form in this new timeline, a different role. And that's something that could work in my favor, if it means obtaining him. But until then, I'll continue to plan and prepare, using what influence and knowledge I have. One day, that boy will be mine. He'll ascend, and he'll become the perfect weapon." Thyrian's words echoed in Selene's mind, sending a chill through her body. "As soon as I eventually find my way out of her."
"...That won't happen." Selene rejected, causing Thryian's laughter to halt. "You used a spell that allowed this to happen, didn't you? You didn't plan for my survival. I should have been erased, but you incidentally saved me."
"Tch. What's your point?" She could almost picture the annoyed expression in her head. "Regardless, there is no escaping from here. This is not the afterlife. This is not a dimension in-between dimensions. This is a realm that exists outside the very bounds of reality itself, and you and I are trapped in a timeless eternity, our spirits and memories are frozen in place. No one can help us. But eventually, I will be able to do something. You've ensured that with your foolish act, in a bid to try and keep that boy from me." Thyrian chuckled, his voice echoing in the emptiness of the void, the sound seeming to come from everywhere at once.
"Prisma will have a good life." Selene replied. "One without the likes of either of you. And if anything, perhaps I will use my abilities to watch over him. Keeping my existence ensures that I can do something."
"Not at all. You and I are now one in the same because of this accidental merge. With it, I can start over as many times as I want. Yes...Every time a crucial moment arrives, I can ensure that the outcome is always in my favor." Thyrian explained. "Whenever a battle is lost, a death is suffered, a friendship is destroyed. When any event that threatens my plans occurs, I will restart. As will you." he finished. "I will ensure that no matter what, Prisma will eventually fall to my side, or I will possess him myself, making his powers mine, to finally ascend and rule the Universe as a God."
Selene knew she couldn't let that happen. Not at all. She needed to keep her son safe. No matter what, even if she wasn't physically there, she had to be a mother to her boy.
"...I...I... refuse!" Selene's eyes would glow. "Then I will do the same!"
"What?!"
"Every time that crucial moment you mention comes...then I will reset the universe as well! But without you getting your way!" Selene would take that risk. She already made the biggest risk of her life, so this would not stop her. She'd save her boy and make sure that he'd live on in happiness.
"Foolish Selene! These chains will sap away at your memories continuously! Do you even think you can remember the boy in the first place?!" Thyrian laughed. "Eventually, his existence will mean nothing to you, and the cycle will continue, and continue, and continue, until I break the barrier and get the boy to follow me instead!"
"It doesn't matter if he doesn't remember me...As long as he lives, I will gladly take that chance." But her son's safety mattered more than anything. Thyrian, even though he didn't have a physical body, could feel this overwhelming magic emanating from Selene, her eyes constantly glowing.
She had to make sure Thyrian never gets his outcome. Whatever the cost may be.
And thus, the universe would reset, over, and over and over again. An endless loop, a seemingly infinite cycle of resets. Each time the universe would reset, the events of the past timeline would change, but not the fundamental nature of those that live in it. Each of the citizens of the universe would be placed in the same situations, the same conflicts and struggles.
Especially Prisma.
The day the Star Tyrant first arrived in this existence, ready to devour everything, Thryian was prepared to reset it so that the outcome favours him. However, Selene did what she said she would do and intervened to ensure that the timeline is altered, and the Star Tyrant's defeat was guaranteed. Since the beginning of the cycle, Thyrian and Selene had engaged in an endless game of cat and mouse.
Both had their motivations, and both had their methods of manipulating the universe to achieve their desired ends. Though Thyrian's goal was simple: to gain control over Prisma and utilize him as his ultimate pawn to rule the cosmos, Selene, in turn, did everything to protect the child from him.
Each time Prisma and the Star Tyrant would clash, Selene would bring it all back to how it began. Even at the cost of her memories and the pain of the process, the result of these battles would end in victory for her child. He would always win, managing to achieve victory.
But all of this kept coming at a cost. More and more, Selene's body was suffering. She still had the power to keep the resets going, but by now, her eyes appeared hollow, her body becoming more cosmic-like, showing that she was losing her human form.
"I can't feel my arms anymore...My son...His sanity is diminishing more and more..." Selene said to herself with a low voice, her hollow eyes showing no expression. She knew of it all. She knew that at a certain point, the resets were taking a toll on Prisma's sanity, and that his mind was starting to fray and splinter.
"Then just give up. Let me decide the outcome." Thyrian demanded.
"No..." But Selene wouldn't let it happen. She put a massive burden on herself because of this. Due to her dive to let her son live on, his sanity was falling apart. Selene had to wonder if she made the right choice if it mean the happiness of her son was dropping more and more, or would he have preferred to be free of the resets?
No. There was no way to know, no possible way to tell. All that could be known, was that she was willing to pay whatever price necessary. She had no choice in the matter. It was the only path that would guarantee his survival, the only course that would ensure his future. Even at the expense of his happiness.
"Prisma...Do you even remember me?" Selene said to herself, wondering if her son even knew she existed. A smile was trying to form on her face, but it was impossible. More and more, Selene was becoming less expressive, losing every sense of herself along the way with each reset.
And yet, she could still keep going.
It was her will.
Her will to protect her son kept her magic going, defying fate itself, no matter how many cycles would go. No matter what, she believed that the day Prisma would finally find the happiness he felt returns.
Such was the Will of Selene.
As the journey continues.
