Interlude: Unexpected Arrivals

After Sombra used up the entirety of the Kingdom Hearts that the Organization had crafted, which had served a far better purpose in Xemnas' eyes as he looked upon the faces of the former Nobodies with a smile on his face, the castle was turned over to the one who saved them and provided them with what they cherished most. Sombra suspected that the world itself needed a new name, since The World That Never Was didn't seem to fit after what had just happened to the residents of the world, causing her to wonder if 'Betwixt' might be good, a way to say 'between'. With that thought in mind she considered 'Things Betwixt', a land of convergence when one realized that the world was between the Realms of Light and Darkness, and that the residents of the world had once been that way, trapped between the forces of the World. Even now, after her work with the now extinguished false Kingdom Hearts, the residents of the world were torn between Light and Darkness, as there were Heartless wandering around, the transformed Nobodies were hanging out, and the Somebodies of those who let themselves be split into Nobody and Somebody were exploring the world.

Fluttershy had been right, Sombra had forever altered the course of this world's fate by helping it's residents, but even then Sombra realized she wouldn't do anything different, she would make sure the Nobodies were given the hearts they desired and even use the power of this world's Kingdom Hearts to do what she had done.

Of course this also came with altering the castle as well, because without the need to build a Kingdom Hearts there was no reason for the peak, and some of the other areas seemed to be obsolete now, so Sombra found that it was a lot like their Gummi Ship, it could be manipulated and changed as one desired. With that in mind she let most of the exterior remain the same, but the insides were altered, making it more reasonable for those who would be calling it home, where Xemnas and the others watched as it became more like an actual home and less like a fortress. It was still a place that could be defended if it came to it, but Sombra wasn't expecting an attack to actually reach this place, where Xemnas' group watched as she just made the castle into a larger copy of the insides of the Gummi Ship, save for the portal to their private region. The rooms were far better than what Xemnas had seen when he and his friends had first formed their rooms, and each one would be crafted to fix their personal tastes, but she told them that they didn't have to stay here if they didn't want to, they could go out and be their own person.

And that was just the beginning of her work, as the castle was large and she wanted to make sure everything was in a space that was proper for it, and she made sure to check in with Xemnas' group, ensuring that her ideas were okay and accepted, and if someone had a better idea she was willing to listen.

"We'll have to make some changes to the rest of the world as well, now that we've got an army living here." Xemnas stated, as there were a large number of beings calling the Dark City, the area in front of the castle, home, and considering that many of them were Heartless, Nobodies, or even Somebodies, all altered in some manner thanks to Sombra requesting that the World itself use the false Kingdom Hearts to aid the Nobodies, "So, what do we do now?"

"We do what I was doing before: keep an eye on our enemies, gather information, and then attack when the time is right." Sombra replied, as it was exactly what she had done when she and the others were preparing for war with the Organization, and now they had far more resources and individuals who could keep an eye out for Xehanort or his allies, since Xemnas had confirmed that Xigbar was one of the old man's allies, the only one left that he and Sairaine were aware of. "Are you two are sure that Xehanort has no more allies?"

"If there are more allies, they would have been chosen after we were created, no doubt by Xigbar's hand." Sairaine said, but he understood why Sombra was asking, because there was no way Xehanort would allow something like this to happen and not have a backup plan ready in case he lost the Organization like this, causing him to sigh for a moment, "If they exist, we don't know about them... Xigbar clearly didn't trust my brother enough to give him all the details, and I never talked to the one-eyed sniper, so he didn't tell me anything."

Sombra sighed for a moment, as she had been expecting a little more information than what she had gotten, but she wasn't about to argue with what they had given her so far, since it allowed her to plan ahead, but before she or the others were able to say anything else she felt the air shudder a little, as something magical was happening in this world, and the magical signature was Equestrian in nature.

"That can't be good." Radiant remarked, because it wasn't just Equestrian magic she and the others had felt, it was the type of magic that the Umbrum possessed, which could be a bad thing considering that they were just as bad as Sombra had been when he was a tyrant, and sometimes they were even worse than he had been, but it also made her wonder how in the world they were here.

As Sombra and the others headed to the outskirts of the castle, so they could see what was going on, she noticed that there seemed to be a parade or something making their way through the large courtyard area that was right in front of the bridge that connected the castle to the rest of the world. What surprised her was that the figures were definitely Umbrum, it was hard not to recognize them since she knew her coat color and mane color anywhere, plus they seemed to be wearing dark iron armor that resembled his old attire, when he was a tyrant, but they didn't have the cape. Such a thing made her take a moment to wonder how this could be happening, before wondering if the realm that the Umbrum had been contained in had been linked to the Darkworld in some manner, allowing them to escape into an entirely new world. The interesting thing was that they seemed to be making music, as some were beating on drums, others using trumpets, and a few others, like this was a royal procession, and the ones at the front were actually carrying flags, causing her to raise an eyebrow as she and the others laid eyes on the main targets.

What she found was that there was an older male, wearing metal plate with a lush cape, while having a crown on his head, but his features reminded Sombra of herself, or what she would have looked like if she had retained her male form, and to the figure's right was a female Umbrum that looked an awful lot like Sombra, only her hair was lusher and her chest was a couple of sizes smaller.

"Make way for King Nebula!" the Umbrum at the front said, almost like it was a song of some kind, even though no one was actually singing, meaning that someone had told them to speak like that for this event, but the name was a knife to Sombra's mind as she staggered and raised her hand to her head, as it meant something to her, "Make way for Princess Umbra!"

"Sombra... what's wrong?" Fluttershy asked, as this was the first time that Sombra had reacted in this way to anything, even after everything that had been thrown at them since they started their adventures, and she was worried that this might cause some problems for Sombra, causing her to glance at the pair, who were actually riding crystalline horses, "Do you know those two?"

"No... and yes. I knew them, once upon a time, then forgot they existed... and now here they are, making me remember with just their names." Sombra replied, though as the pain went away she got up and lowered her hand, causing her to warp all of them to the bottom of the bridge as she stepped forward, gesturing to Lei Shen and Tiamat to stand down, since the pair of dragons liked to rest in front of the bridge, before turning towards the pair as they climbed off their steeds and walked up to where she was standing, "Father, sister... what are you doing here?"

"Wait, they're your family?! But... but I thought you were an orphan." Radiant said, though now she realized why both figures reminded her of Sombra so much, they were her family, but even that raised questions that she suspected would only make her more curious about everything that was going on, and she wasn't the only one interested in the pair, since Fluttershy and Seras were curious about them.

"Blame the magic that caused him to appear in the Crystal Empire, it seems to have sealed a number of his memories in the process... or her memories, based on what I'm seeing." the second figure, wearing casual clothing that didn't scream that she was a princess, rather Radiant had assumed that the real princess had been hiding until Sombra noticed her, though she did walk around Sombra for a moment and studied her body for a few moments, before stopping by their father with a pout on her face, "No fair, I'm the older twin, but your body makes it look like your the older twin... and now I want to see what you'd look like in a dress, and make sure you're okay with your new body."

"Wait, hold on a moment. SOMBRA'S A BOY?!" Sora remarked, even though there was a lot of information for them to digest, especially Riku since he had fallen for Sombra's looks when he first encountered her and he could see that he backed off just a little and hid himself so he could think about all of this, and there was the fact that their friend had remembered none of this before the force arrived in this world.

"Formerly, to be exact... you can thank my own actions and the World for that. I guess I should reintroduce myself, since I now know my unknown past." Sombra stated, where she realized that she was going to have to talk with everyone once this was over, because all of the sealed memories just made things bad for her, not to mention the arrival of her family, which she didn't know she had until this very moment, "Sombra, Third Prince of the Umbrum Empire, younger twin of the Second Princess, Umbra... though now I would be 'Third Princess', I guess. Where is the First Prince, Tenebris?"

"He is exploring, said he found an old and powerful font of temporal magic that interested him." Nebula replied, as all three of his children had an interest in magic, each for their own reasons, and while his own interests had been on conquest he did allow Sombra and her siblings to use their powers for whatever they wished, which was why he had been proud to see his third child actually succeed in her plan before being beaten by the alicorn sisters, "When Umbra felt your magic she said that it felt 'different' than the last time she felt it. Would you care to explain yourself?"

"It's better to just show you." Sombra said, where the pair watched as one of her eyes produced the dark mist that she was known for, a sign of her innate dark magic, before her father raised an eyebrow in surprise as Umbra clapped her hands in an excited manner, as they noticed that the other eye produced a light mist, "Long story short I've done some impossible things and was rewarded appropriately. If you'd like the full story, well, you had better come in and let me tell it."

There was also the fact that she needed to think about how the arrival of the Umbrum was going to change everything she had considered previously, even though it looked like her father's force was being dismissed to explore the world, something that caused her to wonder what the future held for her and the others now.
