This world is out of control.
Then again it isn't surprising.
Regardless chaos is out in the streets with many siding with ponies they never even met before. Monsters who have no soul to feel like a pony or otherwise.
It sickens me.
Why do they deserve sympathy and understanding while I don't? A bunch of hypocrites I tell ya.
Anyway, as I sit here watching a young mare go inside her house I think to myself how fortunate she is that she wasn't in my shoes.
Then again I was hired to catch her cheating.
Chuckling to myself I lean back in my car. If she is cheating then the pony in question would show up eventually. All I have to do is play my part and wait.
If im lucky maybe I'll catch a little action too.
Suddenly there's a knock on my door.
I jump looking out the window.
No pony was there.
I raise an eyebrow in confusion
There's another knock.
At that moment realization hit me.
I sigh before rolling down the window and looking out.
I was right.
There standing in the middle of the street was a filly. She was young but I try to focus on her eyes like I was instructed to.
The orange was hard to ignore.
However, her eyes were almost milky white. I would have immediately thought she was blind if it wasn't for her eye-piercing gaze.
Was I being sized up by a filly?
"what do you want?"
She doesn't answer.
At least not verbally.
Instead, she raises a hoof before sliding it across her mouth in an almost playful manner.
At this point, I knew she was just trying to play games with me.
However just when I was about to tell her off in words that would make her parents upset a noise cut me off.
It was the sound of some pony screaming.
I turn my head only to see the mare's front door wide open. Cursing to myself I turn back to the filly only to realize that she was nowhere in sight.
They tell you at the academy to not enter a residence without additional backup.
I broke that role.
When I walked in I was expecting to see a robbery gone wrong. Or perhaps her secret lover in the midst of trying to kill her. After all, it was usually common for that to happen. Especially if things between them escalated because of their afrar. You would be surprised at how far some pony would go when it was time to tie up loose ends.
I didn't see that.
Instead, I saw claw marks of various sizes littering the wall and floor with specks of blood here and there.
I gulped trying to keep my pants and underwear clean.
It didn't take me long to find the body. Or rather bodies.
The mare looked to be torn apart by sone kind of wild animal. There was everything from deep gashes to her gut being torn to shreds. Even her eyes were missing.
I called an old friend in the department who in turn was quick to arrive.
It wasn't until after their arrival did we find the so-called stallion she was cheating on her husband with. He was slumped in the bathroom with no visible wounds on him. After looking him over we realized that he was choked to death given the red marks on his neck that was found upon closer inspection
Oh and the mare's eyes?
We found one of them in his mouth. The other though mysteriously disappeared. Probably in the stomach of whatever attacked the mare.
As per usual I was sent to the station for questioning. The looked that several officers gave me wasn't something I looked forward to.
Regardless I told them everything I knew which wasn't munch.
For some odd reason, the filly came to mind only after I left the station.
Shrugging it off I headed on home.
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
"why?"
The look on my parent's faces is something that ill never forget.
I tried to tell them that it wasn't a big deal. That it was just a mistake.
They never believed me.
In the end, though being born into high nobility had its perks.
Sighing I grabbed another beer from the fridge. I wasn't looking forward to the annual phone call im gonna have with my parents. Especially when they heard what happened earlier. Somehow their gonna assume that I had something to do with it.
I remember a time when we were much happier now those times seem distant and foggy.
What I wouldn't pay to relive them again.
Suddenly my phone rings.
Taking one last chug for a good hour or two especially if grandma's involved I answer.
'Hey, guys how's living the high life these days?"
What answered me wasn't my parents.
"Wanna play a game?"
My throat went dry.
The voice on the other end wasn't one I recognized.
"Who are you?"
"An-"
The stallion or rather a young colt began. Only to make a sound that resembled a surprised yelp.
There was silence for a moment.
It didn't last long.
"my friends say it doesn't matter, but they also say that if you want to see your parents again come to this address then we can play!"
He gives me an address that's on the far edge of town. However just before he hung up I heard the sound of some pony's voice begging not to be dragged back in.
Shaking my head I bolted towards the door. If they had my parents then I needed to leave and arrive as quickly as I could. There's no telling what these maniacs wanted.
Getting my phone I dialed my friend again. She was an old co-worker of mine who I never assumed would last long on the force. Especially considering the red heart she always tries to hold.
By the time im done explaining everything I know I already arrived at the location. It pays to have one if not the fastest vehicles in town.
The place I arrived at was an old small wooden house that looked fairly familiar to the home of the element of kindness long ago. The only difference was the front layout.
"it's a trap."
The mare on the voice stated. Sounding a lot more than a little concerned.
"I know."
I hung up.
""""""'""""""""""'""""""""""""'"""""""""""""''''""""""''"""""""""''""'''""'"""""''"""""""""""""""""""""
You would think by entering the house it would be all dark and spooky. Furthermore, the ponies inside would then play an old fashion game of cat and mouse that ends with me either dead or alive.
That's what I expected. At least on some level.
Instead, however, I walked into a fairly bright and clean area with no signs of anything abnormal whatsoever.
Oh, and three young-looking ponies casually playing a card game of some kind.
The first was a brown Earth pony colt with a blonde mane and tail. Instead of having a cutie mark on his flank, he had a dark circle that almost seemed to move. His eyes were mismatched with one being blue and the other a dark pink. A knowing smile was present on his lips.
The second was a filly.
The same filly who I saw by my car the other day.
She was pink with purple streaks covering her whole body and her misty-colored eyes stared directly at me. Her expression was smug like she was the one who planned the whole thing.
She didn't have a cutie mark.
Besides her, a relatively close distance was another Earth pony colt. This one was a turquoise yellow with a dark red mane and tail. His eyes were grey and filled with joy as he played with the other two. His cutie mark was a dark feather.
I blinked.
Huh, well this should be easy.
However just as I thought this the entire ground under my hooves began shaking uncontrollably.
I was falling.
I don't know how or when but I was falling, and as I fell I began to see.
I saw myself as a young filly lost and afraid having lost her parents while in a supermarket.
I saw her scream and cry.
I saw a stallion approach with a kind smile and words of reassurance. Promising to find her parents.
He didn't.
Instead, he took her home.
He gave her food and drinks promising to find them soon.
She ate them without care or concern.
Then there was darkness.
She woke with me standing before her. My eyes roamed her body as the pony who took her lay dead.
I smiled and told her it was alright and that everything will be okay. That there was nothing more to fear.
Then I touched her,
And I felt every second of it.
I screamed.
Then I landed.
I screamed again.
This time in pain as I felt something snap.
My hooves.
I couldn't feel my hooves.
Then the voice came.
Her voice.
Emerging from the shadows was the very same mare whom I violated. Only older with a look of crazed hunger on her face.
"hungry oh im so, so, hungry."
At that moment I knew, I knew that the reason she was because she became the very monster she feared.
She became like me,
And she wasn't alone.
Mares, stallions, colts, fillies, and even some diamond dogs. Each, one each individual is someone I wronged.
Lives.
I ruined so many lives and I can feel everything they felt. Every negative experience they had,
And they're angry.
Scratch that they're hungry and angry.
Their eyes bore into mine as they lunged forward mouths a gap eyes wide and feral.
I didn't even bother fighting back.
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""'""""""""""""""""""""""
"you got a six?"
Nothing shook his head.
"Goldfish."
Filly pouts before grabbing another card.
Angel narrows his eyes in concentration.
"Angel's friends may be good at this game but Angel is learning and if Angel learns Angel can win!"
The trio smiled in response.
Just then a blood-curdling scream echoed from beneath the house.
It was music to their ears.
Well to two of them at least.
Angel on the other hoof upon seeing the other two nod went other to the nearest closet before pushing it open.
Inside were two ponies who looked beyond terrified.
Rubbing his hooves the youngest of the two smiles in excitement.
"wanna play?"
Moments later the very same ponies can be seen running out of the house.
Humming merely Angel follows them. After all, he's the one who seeks.
That's how it works.
That's how it always works.
Only this time he isn't alone.
Watching from the doorway Nothing grins. As he did the shadowy entity emerges from behind him.
(kill them(
(make them pay)
(hunt down every last one)
Nothing follows.
The shadow creature is not far behind.
Filly is about to join them.
However, a pair of sirens in the distance catches her attention.
Walking back inside the house she opens the basement door before leaving.
However, before she does she utters one single word.
"consume."
