The Beginning

Having started this a year ago my skill has what I would like to think improved and I want to write this along with my ap class I am posting this to see if there is any interest in the story I am rewriting the entire Chapter 1, but I hope you enjoy what I have here. Good reading and feel free to give feedback. (I’m also sorry for any spelling errors, I never was good with spelling.)

Twilight Sparkle
Prologue

It was a morning just like any other in Ponyville nothing out of the ordinary a very uneventful day, until it arrived. Twilight had left for lunch she was gone for no more than 45 minutes, but when she returned to the library it was just sitting there... a large parcel. Twilight, trying to understand how something this size could have made its way inside, it had to be at least twice the size of that stupid rock Rarity had her lug around. How could anypony have moved this inside in the 45 minutes she was gone, unnoticed too. She trotted around the parcel looking for anything she could use to identify what it could possibly be, the only thing she found was a small white card with the inscription,
~ Trollestia ~
What that could mean completely escaped her. It looked like the only way Twilight would find out what was inside would be to open it, but for that she would need help from somepony, anypony really. Twilight left the library looking for somepony to help her.
As Twilight stepped out of the door she heard somepony yell “WAIT!” it was Derpy, what luck she had. “Ah, just the pony I was looking for.” Twilight said with satisfaction that her search was over. “Wait, really you were looking... for me?” Derpy said quite confused what Twilight of all ponies would want with her, sure they knew each other but they weren't friends. “Yes, you see I’m in quite the predicament and I need your help.” Twilight stated. Derpy blushed, flattered that Twilight needed her help “Well I would be glad to help, but surely I can’t be the only pony that can help you.” The gray Pegasus said, rubbing the back of her head, she knew that her job as a mailmare was important, but it was nice to know she was needed in other things too. “Oh yes you’re just the pony for the job, you see while I was at lunch this arrived” Twilight said motioning to the large package. “ I’m not sure what you want me to do to help you with that...” Derpy said not sure what could even be in a something that colossal. Twilight started to walk inside “Well do to the size I need some help unpacking it.” Derpy followed in suit . “But why do you need me for that, surely you could just get Rainbow Dash to help you maybe even Fluttershy.” Derpy said disheartened as she lowered her head. A expression of concern crossed Twilight face worried that she would lose her newly found assistant.
“Uh... You're really good with lifting heavy things and this is your area of expertise.” Derpy stood their a second and just blinked “Good with lifting heavy things? When my eyes... well do what they do I tend to drop things, I think of all ponies you should remember that.” Derpy looking like she found some relief with what twilight said. Derpy picked up her head ”But I guess this is my area of... whatever you said.” Twilight smiled. “Well lets get to work” Opening the box took only seconds with it not being secured in any way. The real task was in taking out what was inside, a large variety of machine parts. When the task was complete (about a hour later) the library looked like a junkyard full of metal parts and rubber tubes that appeared to be completely useless. “Phew, thank Celestia were done.” Derpy sighed with relief. “We aren’t done yet, we have to build... it, whatever it is. Now we can’t just assemble it up here, we have to move it into the basement first.” Twilight went to a nearby desk to get some parchment to make a manifest of the parts (she didn’t want to lose anything did she?) Derpy got a concerned look on her face “Twilight” “Yes?” “That sounds like a lot of work... WAIT WORK! Umm... I will be back after work. Oh and here is your letter!” Derpy stuttered in a panic flying out the window. “Wait no... you... can’t just leave me to do this...” Twilight sighed “Alone.” She got to work cataloging all the parts “ Wait I don’t have to this... SPIKE!"
Twilight stated with great satisfaction “ Great now that I moved everything down here “
“ Twilight! “ Spike interrupted “ Umm... mostly alone. “ “ Twilight! ” Spike interrupted again “ ok... ” Twilight sighed “ Now that Spike has moved everything down here, I can get started ” Everything was stacked neatly, waiting no... almost longing to be assembled. “well I better get started” Twilight said as she picked up the instructions. It was almost two hours after she started when Derpy arrived. “Hey Twilight.” “Thank Celestia you’re here, I can’t even start to make heads or tails of this.” Twilight said without looking up from the instructions. Derpy slammed into Twilight knocking her over. “Oh, I know what this is.” Derpy said as she picked up the instruction off the ground. “The Doctor showed me how to... I mean.” Derpy’s eyes crossed. “The Doctor?” Derpy’s wings were now fully extended “Did I say The Doctor? Umm...” Derpy was now looking frantically around the room, “Never mind about “The Doctor”, can you help me build... whatever this is?” Twilight said in an attempt to calm Derpy, not wanting to lose her assistant. Derpy stopped looking around the room and her wings returned to her side her eyes remained crossed “Well I guess I could help you.” “Well lets get started then.” Twilight said with a sense of gusto. A silence filled the room as the ponies got to work. Spike came down with some drinks “It’s getting late, how about you guys take a break for dinner?” Twilight sighed “No time spike, not when we're this close being done.” Derpy whined (she is not whining she is complaining) “But Twilight I’m hungry and just think about the muffins, all the muffins Twilight.” “Fine, I’m not going to get anywhere fast without you. Let’s go get dinner.”
Twilight returned to her house soaked by the rain. “ Oh hey Twilight. “ Spike called out from another room “ Derpy is in the basement working on.. Whatever it is you have down their.” Twilight sighed a sigh of relief “ Well at least she didn’t forget about it. If we work together I’m sure we will have it done in no time! “ “Derpy?” Twilight called out as she trotted down the steps into the basement. “Oh hey, What took you so long? I mean you missed me finishing building it. “ “Oh I got caught up with Pinkie Pie... Wait... You finished it! Thats great! What does it work? What does it do, and for that matter what is it?“ “ Well I guess you could call it a... spatium tempore viator or SPT for short” “Wait, that's Latin for space time traveler, are you telling me... “ “Wow Twilight, I forgot how smart you are... and yes and no. You see it not only travels through space and time but this one can travel through dimensions! “ Twilight just stood there with her jaw gaping open “You’re kidding, you have to be kidding me.” Derpy just giggled “If you don't believe me then lets try it out” Derpy started messing around with the controls. Twilight shook her head “Even if it could travel through space and time it would take somepony with far more” “Done!” Derpy looked back at Twilight “Were you going to say I’m not skilled enough to use the SPT?” she said sternly as her eyes crossed. “But how did you know what to do?” Twilight still had problems believing that not only Derpy knew how to put it together, but now she could use it too! “Oh. It was on the back of the box!” “The back of the” “Yep! Thats how I put it together too!” Derpy said, her eyes crossed and her wings stuck out. Twilight didn’t notice she was staring at the ground. “How could I have been so... stupid, to miss something like that!”Twilight sighed” I give up let’s just get this over with.” Derpy pulled a lever attached to the machine.

Darkness
Twilight tried to open her eyes, nothing. She tried again still nothing. Scared about what happen Twilight called out “Derpy?!? Anypony?!?” “twilight!...” “Derpy? Is that you?!?” “Twilight!” “DERPY!” Twilight tired and confused thought she couldn’t be happy to see anypony. Derpy came soaring by, flying threw the void. “Derpy this is serious, were lost!” Derpy chuckled “Twilight were not lost we’re just traveling!” Twilight was now more confused than ever “Traveling? What does that mean!” “We're traveling through time and space! You didn’t think the SPT just shot you out into the other side did you?” Twilight in shock that the SPT worked, and it didn’t kill her mumbled out “Where... Where are we going?” Derpy sighed “Well... I have no idea!” Derpy smiled. “WHAT! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE WE’RE GOING!” Twilight screamed flailing around in the void. “Nope.” Twilight just sat there motionless.
Another pop
Twilight picked up her head (to what she thinks is up) “Is that rain?” Twilight asked Derpy “Shh, be quiet I can hear somepony.” *singing* “What if, in fact, you're just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle 'em and they’ll never catch wise!” *end* “Is it just me or does The Great and Powerful Trixie feel a draft?” Trixie, a rush of thoughts flooded Twilights mind. “TRIXI” Derpy covered Twilights mouth “Shhh, what part of be quiet do you not understand.” Twilight would have had taken her more seriously if her eyes weren't crossed. “I’m sorry it’s just.” “Who’s there?! Get out of my bathroom you barbarian!” “Great, now she knows we... or at least you’re here. Go fix it!” “Fix it? Fix what? Whoa!” Derpy shoved Twilight through a small fluctuating portal about the size of a door. *Thud* “oww, that bucking hurt.” Twilight heard the opening of shower curtains. “Oh... It’s you. What, have you come back to admit that you’re not nearly and never will be as great and powerful as Trixie?” Trixie said with a smug smile “Or maybe you came to see what is so great and powerful about Trixie?” Twilight was offended at the first remark and shocked about the second one. “Dear Celestia no! I don’t know why I’m here I just am!” Twilight was stalling to think of a response. Trixie huffed “ well while you’re here can you please and me my hat and cap.” “Your hat and cape?” “Yes, you wouldn’t want to see me in all my great and powerful self would you?” Twilight let out a heavy sigh, she was clearly getting frustrated “Trixie... WE DON’T NORMALLY WEAR CLOTHS! JUST YOUR CAPE AND HAT WOULDN’T COVER ANYTHING!” Derpy flew through the portal and landed on the counter next to the sink “Wow, quite steamy in here let me help!” Derpy extended her wing to full and started flapping them to blow all the steam into the portal of which Trixie was aware of now. Derpys wind from her wings blew over Twilight and tore off the shower curtain “Whoops, my bad. And Twilight thats no way to talk to anypony!” Trixie trotted over and donned her hat and cape “Well at least she knows how to address the Great and Powerful Trixie! Now where does this... portal go?” “Oh that old thing? It can go anywhere, you see me and Twilight” “Derpy, thats Twilight and me.” “But Twilight how can you go on an adventure with yourself?” “Derpy thats not what I meant...” Twilight just sighed “Oh, now I know why you’re here. You want the Great and Powerful Trixie to join you!” “No, FOR THE LOVE OF CELESTIA NO!” “No need to be so modest, I won't take no as a answer.” Derpy flapped her wings “Yay! The more the merrier!” Twilight stomped her hoof down in protest “She WILL not be joining us!” “Come on Twilight we’re leaving” “Twilight looked around, the bathroom was empty. “Why me...”
*back in Twilights basement*
“It’s so dark and damp down here, you know Twilight I thought you lived somewhere more... well not so horrid” Trixie said as she exited the portal. “This is my basement Trixie, and this is where you will be staying.” “WHAT!” Trixie recalled with terror “Surely you must be jesting, I mean this is no place for the Great and Powerful Trixie!” “Oh, i’m not jesting.” Twilight said with a smile “Aww, it’s ok Trixie you can stay with me!” “Well it’s better than nothing, show Trixie the way!” Derpy started to flap her wings again “Yay! Slumber party!” Trixie held her head up “This is not a slumber party” “Whatever you say Trixie!” Twilight went up stairs straight to her bed, she was just glad to be rid of Trixie and Derpy for the time being. “Hey Twilight, where have you been? I was starting to worry.” Twilight rolled over in her bed. “I’ll tell you in the morning Spike” Twilight drifted off into a deep sleep.
“Twilight!” Twilight rolled over “Ten more minutes Celestia...” “Twilight! Come on!” “Here, let me” “AHH!” When Twilight woke up she was 6 feet off the ground spinning in a circle. “Did I scare you?” Twilight screamed “PUT ME DOWN!” “Ok.” Trixie said with a grin. *Thudd* Trixie had dropped Twilight. “The hey! You know this is why you don’t have any friends Trixie!” “Please, I have many admirers.” “And Twilight, when will you learn to take a joke? I’m sure Trixie didn’t mean anything by it.” Trixie left Twilights bedroom and was heading to the basement. Both Twilight and Derpy followed suit. “Ya, i’m sure she didn’t mean anything.” Twilight mumbled mockingly to herself.
Trixie approached the large and obtuse machine and placed a hoof on it “All right, let us get this show on the road!” Derpy walked up to what appeared to be a control panel and started mashing some buttons “ All right, that should be it, now lets “ Derpy giggled to herself “get this show on the road!” Derpy pulled the rather large lever next to the machine and a portal opened up. Twilight groaned “Ok, where are we going now?” Derpy looked at the ceiling “Uhh... can’t tell you, it’s a surprise!” Twilight stared at the ground for a bit “Ok, fine lets go.” When she looked up both Derpy and Trixie were already in the portal.”Hey Twilight, you coming?” For half a second she thought about just leaving them, but she was responsible for what happened to them it was her machine after all. “Allright. Here I come!” Twilight galloped at full speed then jumped into the portal.

Red.
.
This is different to what Twilight saw before instead of the black nothingness they were surrounded by red. “Hey, Derp... hey, Derpy why is everything red?” Twilight stammered off put by the bright aggressive color. “Uhh... Well you see... It happens when the capacitor...” Derpy let out a heavy sigh “I don’t know...” Twilight started to panic, why did she come here, why didn’t she stay behind? Twilight tried her best to keep herself together, what good ever came from panicking about what was going to happen (that was one lesson she wouldn’t forget).

Silence

Twilight finally worked up the courage to call out to her friends “ Derpy, Trixie?” no response. “Hello?” she called out louder, worried that something catastrophic had happened. Twilight heard some sounds she couldn’t make out. “Hello!” She called out desperately. she heard them again this time even louder. “Please anypony! Help!” a bright light suddenly pierced the darkness. It was Derpy and Trixie, “What happened? where were you? Where are we!” twilight exclaimed “Calm down, you are in a broom closet and we are in some sort of building.” Trixie pronounced with an air of arrogance. “Well what happened, why were we separated, where are we?” “Well from what I can gather something happened with the machine, it shouldn’t be a problem though, after all we were only a few feet away from each other after all.” Derpy sighed “as far as where we are I have no idea, this looks like a office complex but other then that I have no clue.” Trixie through open a nearby door “Trixie waits for nopony!” she yelled as she ran through disappearing around a corner. Twilight sighed “I guess we should follow her” Derpy flapped her wings excitedly “ yay! An adventure!”
