Cloudsdale was home to many pegasi and in particular one pegasus called Rainbow Dash, the element of loyalty. Right now, she was practicing with her favorite flight team, the Wonderbolts. "You ready to make some thunder, Crash!" The leader of Wonderbolts, Spitfire exclaimed.

"Hah! I was born ready!" Rainbow Dash replied back with a smirk. As the group was about to finish their practice, Rainbow caught something out of corner of her eye. At first, she thought it was another pegasus but as the flying figure got closer, it appeared to get bigger in size. She quickly halted and tried get a better look at the creature.

"Hey, Crash!" Soarin exclaimed. "What are you looking at?".

"There's something over there," Rainbow Dash explained, pointing to the flying creature.

"What are you two doing!? Get back to practice now!" Spitfire yelled from above.

"Ma'm, there's something flying toward us and whatever it is, it's definitely not any pegasus, unicorn, or earth pony" Rainbow Dash replied. Suddenly, a giant screech thundered from up above. "Spitfire, watch out!" Rainbow Dash yelled. It was too late. The winged creature had the yellow Wonderbolt leader in its claws. The force of the larger creature was able to push Spitfire to the ground.

The creature was revealed to be none other than a Pteranodon, a pterosaur dating back to the Cretaceous Period. Pteranodon and other pterosaurs were able fly thanks to their large wings. Scientists are still unsure about how these wings evolved onto these animals but their is one thing we know for certain: they sure were good at flying. Many pterosaurs could were really fast flyers while others used flight as an adaptation. For example, Pteranodon used this skill to search and hint for food. Its main food was fish so it used its wings to dive into the water, swim, snatch fish in its beak, and quickly fly out of the water. Pteranodon would mostly live near beaches or rocky shores near their primary food. This was also where they would mate and lay their eggs.

The Pteranodon quickly made its assault on Spitfire. It quickly stabbed her back repeatedly with its beak, drawing blood. Before it could make some real damage to the pegasus, Rainbow Dash quickly kicked in the head sending the pterosaur spiraling down the track way. "You okay, ma'm" Rainbow asked her fallen ally.

"A little battered but I'll be fine" Spitfire reassured. She tried to stand up but immediately collapsed. She looked at her wound, pouring blood onto the concrete of the track way. "That guy got me good, though".

As all of this was going down, the flying creature from earlier landed. It was another pteranodon. It seems like this was a planned attack, one would distract and while the other attacked. Rainbow quickly turned to the approaching pteranodon. "Soarin, get Spitfire to the hospital, I'll handle these guys".

"Are you sure you'll be alright?" Soarin asked.

"I've handled worst," Rainbow said, smirking. Soarin nodded as he and the other Wonderbolts carried the wounded Spitfire away. Rainbow Dash took one last glance as the Wonderbolts departed. She then focused her mind on the approaching pteranodons. The one in front of her screeched at her, flapping its wings in intimidation but Rainbow Dash was undeterred by this.

"Bring it on, ugly!" Rainbow Dash yelled in a mocking tone. Rainbow quickly flew up and kicked right into the pteranodon's head, disorienting it. The second one flew up to Rainbow and tried snapping her hoove or wings. Rainbow was too quick for the flying reptile and landed a punch right on top of the noggin. The second pteranodon kept on trying to deal blows to Rainbow and soon the other pteranodon joined in, each snapping at Rainbow. But Rainbow Dash had speed on her side. She quickly outmaneuvered and eventually was able to drive off the second pteranodon. But then she got a little too cocky. "What's the problem, dude?" Rainbow Dash said, taunting the retreating animal. "Ya can't handle this much awesomene-". She was quickly interrupted as the first pteranodon grabbed a hold of her arm. It dove towards the ground, hoping the impact would kill the pegasus and this hunt would be a success.

Rainbow Dash eventually came to her senses and tried to get the creature to let go of her but to no avail. They were quickly approaching the ground and pteranodon quickly slammed Rainbow into the ground.

As Rainbow struggled to get up, the pteranodon swooped down and pinned her. Rainbow covered her eyes waiting for the final blow. But it never came. Confused, Rainbow opened her eye and noticed that the pteranodon wasn't there anymore. Well, it was there but it was getting its throat ripped apart by a deinonychus (see Chapter 1). The raptor had jumped onto pteranodon just in time for Rainbow to avoid her grim fate. The raptor suddenly noticed Rainbow Dash, staring back at him.

"Ooh, second course!" Razor said, excitedly and began to get into a pouncing stance.

"Oh come on, dude! Not cool!" Rainbow Dash said as she quickly flew away.

"Oh, I love fast food!" Razor said as he ran after her.

Get it? 'Fast'. Because Rainbow Dash is fast.

No. Okay.

Anyway, Rainbow Dash tried to outrun Razor, zooming through different obstacles to try and loose him. Unfortunately though, it didn't work. Razor simply jumped over anything that came in his way. "Heh, it's gonna take more than that to lose this old raptor," Razor said, snarky. Just he was about to get a hold on Rainbow, he stopped and ominously turned his head in another direction.

Rainbow Dash also stopped, horror stricken across her face. "Thanks, Zecora" Apple Bloom said, taking the compy crate from the zebra.

"Anytime, Apple Bloom. I hope to see you crusaders soon," Zecora replied.

Rainbow realized that those voices were the Cuties Mark Crusaders and one in particular was Scootaloo, the little sister she never had. She stared nervously at the raptor. Razor began to grin, looking to dine on some fillies. "Looks like I have some food to greet. See ya later, alligator!" Razor said, grinning.

"Oh no.." Rainbow Dash said as she quickly flew off into Razor's direction. She knew that if she was too late, then the little fillies were goners.
