Sci Twi’s Everlasting Sunlight
I was walking down the halls like usual, but then she walked in. I’ve had the biggest crush on her for months now! Everyone I talk to about it constantly tells me to go for it but I just can’t! What if she says no? What if she hates me forever afterwards! WHAT IF SHE NEVER HANGS OUT WITH ME AGAIN!?
“Hey Twilight!”
It was Sunset’s voice.
“H-hey Sunset! H-how’s your dayyyy?”
She looked at me like I spoke an alien language, “What’s there to be nervous about, its just me your best friend Twi, no needa stutter over every word.”
My glasses slid down my nose, “Well y’know it’s just uh, excitement to see my bestie! Ahahaha."
She put her elbow on my shoulder and leaned on me like usual. “Well how about we go to the Cake’s place and get somethin’ after sch-“
“ALONE!?” I screamed out without thinking.
“Uh, yeah, everyone else is busy with their own thing so it’s just you and me for a little while!”
At this point I was trembling, so much to the point where my glasses fell off, thankfully Sunset caught them for me “Is somethin’ the matter Twi? You’ve been acting weird.” She put my glasses back on my face.
“N-Noooo! Why would anything be wrong! Come on lets go!” I grabbed her wrist and started walking to the Cake’s bakery.
"B-But Twi! School isn’t gonna be over for another hour!” At this point she probably knew something was up, but I just wanted to spend time with her now. The bell chimed as Sunset and I walked into the building.
"Why hello Twilight and Sunset! It’s a surprise to see you here so early!”
“BREAK.” I said, thinking of an excuse.
“I mean, the teachers let us go on break!” Mrs. Cake was confused but she shrugged,
"Alright what do you girls want?”
“I’d just like a-“
"WE’D LIKE A DOZEN CUPCAKES AND 2 DRINKS!”
Sunset whispered into my ear. “Why did you order that much?”
“Because we have to stay fueled for later!” Ever since I had a crush on sunset I’ve been planning out a date between us. We chose a table and sat down at it.
“Here’s your cupcakes and your drinks girls! That’ll be $28.52”
I pulled out my wallet and paid her with a 50 I had, “Keep the change.” I said that trying to sound cool, I really didn’t.
“What you said Twi, stay fueled for what later?” My face heated up and my cheeks turned red.
“J-Just to hang out m-more!” “
Oh alright.” She shrugged my weirdness off and we started eating. We got through half of it till we closed the box up and couldn’t eat anymore.
“Well since you wanted to hang out more what do you want to do next Twi?”
“Well we could watch a movie or go to the park, or get ice cream, or go to the beach or-“
She stopped me and said, “How about we just go on a walk?” I nodded my head and we stepped outside.
“B-beautiful weather a-ain’t it?”
“Uh, yeah.” WAS I UPSETTING HER? THIS IS BAD THIS IS BAD. Before I knew it she started walking and I had to catch up with her quick pace. She was on a steady walk while I was jogging.
“W-wait up Sunset!” She stopped and I had to take a breather by her side.
“Twilight is something the matter?”
“Wh-Why would there be?”
“You’ve been acting weird, all achy and stuff.”
“I just have a. Cold! I have a cold yeah! Cough cough.” I had to come up with that on the spot, she mighta fallen for it.
"Uh, can I help you feel better?”
“Yeah, by hanging out with me!”
“Alright then.” We started walking at a steady pace, staying silent. “Twilight, be honest, why did you want to hang out with me so quickly? You skipped school, spent about an hour eating cupcakes, and offered to do so much stuff. Why?”
My cheeks were red immediately. Do I tell her the truth, or do I lie? Why would I lie to her? She’s my best friend, “Sunset,” I grabbed both of her hands. “Will you stay friends with me no matter what?”
"Wh-why do you ask?”
“Because I love you, Sunset.”
Her cheeks were red, She knows how I feel now. “Y-yeah Twi, I love you too.”
"No, Sunset I love love you, I have a crush on you.”
Sunset paused. “What?”
“I-I’m sorry!”
I ran away, I embarrassed myself, I flunked it. I started tearing up, I didn’t run far, but I still ran, my trail of tears following me like a reminder of the stupid mistake I made. I heard boots clicking on the ground. "Twilight, I love you too.”
“H-Huh?” I sniffled.
"Twilight I adore you, I love your presence I love when you talk Twilight. I love you.”
I couldn’t say anything I just hugged her. She hugged me back. My tears ran off her jacket, she lifted my face up from her shoulder, “Stop crying dummy.”
“H-huh?”
“What’s there to be sad about, we’re girlfriends.” I started crying more, not from sadness, but from pure joy.
“Thank you so much Sunset.”
"You’re welcome.”

“SUNSET! SUNSET!” I shouted, trying to get my phone back from her hands. ‘DON’T LOOK IN THERE!”
“What’s wrong Twi? It’s just my girlfriend’s phone.”
“YES, AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND HAS A LOT OF SECRETS ON SAID PHONE!”
“You got a little diary?” I stopped.
“Actually, I don’t have a diary, Sunset.”
“Oh really.” I nodded profusely. “Then why do you care so much if I look through your phone huh?” I paused.
"JUST GIMME THE PHONE BACK!” I tried to snatch the phone, but she held it above my head.
“Wow look, a notes app, you got nothin’ here right Twi?”
“I DON’T!” She started looking through it I presume; it was so stupid of me to use it as a digital diary.
“Wow.” My cheeks turned red. “You write about me a lot huh.” I stopped trying to snatch my phone back out of sheer embarrassment.
“So what!?”
“Nothings wrong with that! I find it adorable how you think of me that much.” My cheeks heated up like the inside of an oven.
“Shut up!” I was about to storm off but then I felt a tight grip around my torso.
“What’s there to be ashamed about Twi?”
“EVERYTHING! NOW LET ME GO!!!” Her grip tightened around me.
“Why should I Twi?”
“BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO!”
“Kay then.” She let me go and air whooshed by my face until it all stopped, SUNSET STARTED CARRYING ME!? “You should watch out Twi, your face nearly got scraped off.”
My face got all red, “I-I would’ve been completely fine!”
“Sure.”
“Where are you taking me!”
“Hm, I donno, how about we go on a little walk Twi?
“St-Stop!”
“No thanks.” She gave me a cheeky smirk, making my face look like a tomato at this point. She stopped by an ice cream shop and put me down, she held onto my hand and walked in with me. “What do you wanna order Twi?”
“Well, I’d like a strawberry, thank you!”
“No needa.” She walked up to the cashier and- WAIT DID SHE JUST CARRY ME HERE AND ORDER ME AN ICE CREAM!? I stood there, pouting after my realization. She walked up to me and paused, “Why the look Twi?”
“CAUSE YOU’RE EMBARASSING ME!”
“How am I doing that?”
"I-I-I DON’T KNOW! YOU JUST ARE!”
“Alright, here’s your ice cream.” She handed it to me and started licking her own.
“Thanks, Sunse- STOP TRYING TO DISTRACT ME!”
“Distract you from what?” I paused again and my face heated up drastically. “You should eat your ice cream, you’re lookin’ really hot.” My face heated up more.
“WHAT!?”
“Your face looks warm.”
“Sh-Shutup!”
“Ya don’t gotta be so rude about it Twi, but then again it does make you look cute.”
She walked out of the shop, “HOLD ON SUNSET!!! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?” I ran out the door, trying to catch up with her.
“You gotta eat your ice cream, you’re heating up really bad.”
“FINE!” I started licking my ice cream, following her. She grabbed onto my hand again.
“How about we make a stop by the park?” This seems a little familiar, but I just can’t put my finger on it. I followed her regardless. We walked for a while.
"Uh, Sunset?”
“Yeah?”
“We missed the park a while ago.”
“Oh, I know.”
“What!?”
“I knew that a while ago.”
“And you didn’t say anything!?”
“You looked cute walking while eating your ice cream, couldn’t interrupt that.” After attempting to cool down my face got red hot again.
“YOU MEAN WE’VE BEEN WALKING THE ENTIRE TIME JUST BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT I WAS CUTE?” She stopped walking for a bit, looking down at me.
“I guess so.” She started walking across the street.
“WAIT UP SUNSET!” I ran after her, and a park was right there, she walked towards a gazebo and sat in it, I sat next to her.
“You haven’t finished your ice cream yet?”
“S-So!?”
“Nothin.” I stared at her, she seemed so calm and collected while making me look like an absolute mess. Its like she’s an expert at this, she suddenly brought me closer and put her arm around me.
“I am.”
“WHAT!? D-Did you jus- YOU JUST READ MY MIND!”
"You’ve been staring at me for a while Twi, and I know you really well. It’s easy to assume." She got up from her seat and started walking again.
“Hold up!!!” I got up and caught up to her. “Why don’t you ever tell me when you’re gonna take me somewhere?”
“Cause, you look cute when you try catching up.”
“STOP CALLING ME CUTE!” She looked at me again.
“Well, you are and I don’t wanna lie.” She started walking somewhere again.
“Where are we going this time?”
“Surprise.” We walked for another long while, until a big theater was in front of us.
“Here we are.” She walked me in and showed the clerk two tickets on her phone.
“Sunset!? You pl-“
“Shh, the movies about to start.” She covered my lips with her finger and took me to the room, it was rather empty. I was kind of excited until I realized, this was a horror movie.
“SUNSET? YOU TOOK ME TO A HORROR MOV-“
“The Movie is about to start Twi!” To my dismay, the movie started, I was already shivering throughout the movie until the first jumpscare happened. I grabbed onto Sunset as soon as it did. “It wasn’t that scary Twi.”
“Sh-Shutup! I wasn’t scared! I just really wanted to hold you!”
“Sure.” I held onto sunset throughout the movie, until it ended. We walked out the room, “It really wasn’t that scary Twi.”
“I WASN’T SCARED!”
“Oh really.” She grabbed onto my shoulders suddenly and I jumped a little.
“ST-STOP!” She grabbed onto my hand again and took me outside the theater.
“Come on, I have one last place to take you Twi.”
“L-Last?” The day with her was ending, I didn’t even pay attention to the time, she was teasing me all of it, I was paying attention to her.
“Come on Twi, it’s probably not all that special though.” She strolled next to me, walking me somewhere.
“Why did you do this?”
“Our first date had to be special Twi, I can’t disappoint you.”
“D-Disappoint me?”
“I didn’t wanna let you down.”
“You can’t let me down Sunset, you’re amazing and I adore you.” She stopped and looked down. “Wh-What’s wrong?”
“N-Nothin’.” She kept walking, gripping my hand tighter. Until I saw a beach, we walked towards it and she stopped at the top of the hill leading to the sandy beach below. She stood in front of me and held both of my hands.
“I’m gonna be honest Twi, I didn’t plan out this date like you thought I did. I never planned it out.”
“This was all off the cuff?”
“No, it wasn’t.”
“Then who planned this?”
“You did Twi.” The sun was setting behind her beautiful face. The light peeking out from behind her hair.
“What?”
“When we got together Twi, you bombarded me with ideas for dates, I did all of them today, going to get ice cream, going to the park, going to the movies, and going to the movie theater.” I saw her blush for the first time today. “I wanted to make our first date special, I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
“Sunset, I said this, you can’t possibly disappoint me.” She hugged me, crying into my shoulder.
“I know that now Twilight. Thank you.”

I woke up to an alarm, that didn’t really sound like mine, I’ve heard it before, but I can’t put my finger on who’s it is. I turned on my side to see what was causing it and it was, SUNSET’S PHONE? WHY DO I HAVE SUNSET’S PHONE? WHEN DID I GET SUNSET’S PHONE? WHY IS HER ALARM SO LOUD? Then I realized, I felt something around my torso, I looked down and IT WAS SUNSET’S ARM WRAPPED AROUND ME? I jumped up, causing Sunset to wake up as well, “A few more minutes plea-“ She looked at me, I looked at her.
“Twilight, what are you doing in my house?”
“Sunset, what am I doing in your arms?”
My cheeks flared up; I assume her’s did too with how she looked. “WE’RE GONNA BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!” I said out loud without thinking and I tried looking for my clothes, forgetting this is sunset’s room. “DO I HAVE MY BACKPACK!?” I started frantically running around the room, but Sunset stopped me and grabbed my shoulders.
“Twi, its okay everything is probably in my closet, and you can just borrow my clothes.” I kept hyperventilating but it was calming knowing Sunset had my stuff and an extra set of clothes.
After she and I got ready we got out of her house and walked to school together, it took me a little to remember what happened yesterday, but it eventually came to me. “W-we’re dating?” Sunset looked at me, I’m guessing she forgot too.
"I guess we are.” I reached to hold her hand hesitantly, then she grabbed mine, “Twi, I’m your girlfriend don’t hesitate.” I felt like I could become just a puddle of goo as soon as she said that.
“H-how did I get such a cool girlfriend.”
“Because you’re such a cool person Twilight.”
I love my girlfriend.
