Adam's great adventures: Discord in the air

Chapter 3: Tempting offers

Discord laughed "Oh goody, you do remember me! I'm glad, frankly, it's been too long AND you have found me a new play thing! Goody!" Adam raised an eyebrow and said "Plaything? may I please ask who you are if that's OK?" Discord laughed and said "Oh Celestia, let me have him! He wants to play my game! I'm discord by the way, I'm sure it's a pleasure to meet you, of course you are?" Adam replied "I'm Adam, I love playing games, what do you have in mind? you sound like fun!"

Celestia said "Adam, Discord is not fun!" Adam replied "With a voice like that? I think he sounds AWESOME, when can I see him?" Celestia sighed as Discord said "OH PLEASE LET ME HAVE HIM! he sounds like such a laugh riot! I promise I won't torment him... much."

Adam was smiling still and said "Still haven't answered my question, what game are we playing?" Discord replied "A mind game my child, one I think you might enjoy!" Adam said "OH, we're doing this, FUN! You know in my world they have a name for this!" Discord paused "A name for this? pray tell, I'm curious."

Adam replied "It's called Psychology, the analysis of the mind and perception. I LOVE games to do with it, at first I thought you were teasing, but now I can use my ability!" Discord said "Ability, please do tell, you have captured my interest now." Adam replied "Well, you see, I have an ability to mess with peoples minds, you know, bend their perceptions of reality. Pretty simple stuff if you ask me!"

Discord laughed and said "So you like messing with minds, so do I, oh you and I have so much in common, come outside at once, I must see you." Adam looked at the princesses and Twilight, who were all gobsmacked, Celestia said "No one... in the history of Equestria... has ever interested Discord." Adam said "Well, clearly I'm an exception, also we have a spy, just thought I'd mention that."

Celestia looked at the door, which flew open, there stood Dr.Whooves, who had his mouth open. Adam laughed and said "Well, that's twice he's seen something to do with me today!" he seemed not to care. Celestia scowled at the Doctor, who walked in ashamed.

Adam said "Told you people get the wrong impressions, now look what has happened, Y' got caught!" he laughed, The Doctor sighed and said "I thought I heard pained moaning up here, so I came to inspect and came across you four." Adam looked out in the hallway and said "That's not the only 'coming' you did, in fact you gave that wallpaper out there the nicest splatter of white!"

The Doctor looked at Celestia, who seemed to be measuring him up for size, Adam knew that look and said "I'll find Discord now, use magic to contact me if you need me."

Adam went outside of the castle and into the canterlot, exploring on his own, he said "I wonder if Discord likes Hide and seek, it used to be my favorite game as a foal." He heard Discord in his mind as he said "You like playing Hide and seek, oh you are fun, come and find me then!"

Adam smiled as he looked for discord around Canterlot, "he must have been a great player of the game." he said to himself. However, he then got a feeling, he flew through Canterlots' magic shield using his Pegasus wings and looked out to the sunset. He landed upon the ground and looked around, Discord approached him and looked at him Discord said "A hybrid? Earth, Pegasus and Unicorn pony? Oh this day just keeps getting better!"

Adam smiled and said "Glad I can make your day better, now tell me, how did you come to exist?" Discord paused, then thought and said "I came from... HM... I honestly don't know, that's strange, how could I not remember my past?" Adam said "Because you talked in my mind long enough for me to make a link to you, I just made all your little party tricks fail miserably."

Discord tried to use magic but could not, his effort was wasted for nothing with each spell, growing gradually weaker as he tried. He remained calm and said "Magic, why magic, especially from a hybrid wearing some weird charm." Discord looked at the amulet.

Adam said "This 'charm' is more powerful than you could ever dream of being, because this 'charm' is powered by dreams, hope, faith and desire, so long as you want something, you will also desire it. When you desire something, you have hope to fulfill the desire, when you have hope, you have faith in an idea. It is un-preventable, inevitable, inescapable but by all means good. It is only bad when those hopes lead to nothing more than chronic dreams of madness that lie behind the mask we all wear to hide our true selves."

Discord looked at the pony who'd brought him down to a mere draconius. He asked "Who are you?" Adam smirked and snidely replied "I am order and chaos, I am your best dreams and your worst nightmares, I am your guardian angel and your assassin, I end you Discord, this world needs you not."

Discord said "You could join me at my side, become infinitely rich, you'd become a god among all these ponies, you'd rise above them as their dictator!"

Adam said "That's a wonderful offer." Discord smiled "However..." Discord's expression changed to pure horror as Adam created a sword from thin air, then raised it magically to his neck "I am not above these ponies, nor would I want to be, I have learned so much from them. To lose this now is a fate worse than death."

Discord said "Go ahead, kill me, show them that you're the toast of the town!" he said sarcasm bitterly spitting from his mouth he continued "SEE IF I CARE!" Adam commanded the sword, with a thick screech of steel through bone it sliced through Discord's neck. However Adam was not done, he slashed the sword all the way down the middle of discord, blood and entrails splattered everywhere.

Princess Celestia flew down to Adam at that moment, she saw the whole thing. she said "You killed Discord?" Adam nodded, but anger still clouded his vision.

Now let me explain what had happened to boil up Adam.

• Inside Discords mind, scenes of mass chaos and hysteria ensue, ponies who are left to live miserable lives mope around the land. Adam stood there as he was accompanied by Discord into this crazed vision, he had immediately hated discord for this and wanted to kill him. -

Adam said "I can remember a lot of men who are like this, only, they were from my old world, most of them were government officials trying to make the world a better place." He laughed a bitter laugh at his joke. Celestia said "Adam, are you OK? You look awful, like you just took one big emotional hit, need to talk?"

She pulled the somewhat grey Adam back into Canterlot, Adam HAD killed Discord, but his magic affected him slightly.
